Reviews for University of Calgary - Global Village

Review 1:I was very confused to find that Global Village and the Hotel Alma are the same facility. Depending on which name you book under, the amenities differ! Don't be fooled! Just because there is a full fridge, microwave and coffee maker, do not expect dishes or cutlery!! Apart from that, I enjoyed my stay, and will stay again, next time as Hotel Alma.

Review 2:A nice brisk walk to work at Foothills Hospital. Very quiet. Nice thick walls, floors and ceilings.

Review 3:the room was too small. bed was small and uncomfortable. this a dorm rather than a hotel room. the shawer didn't have hot water for a few hours.

Review 4:location was the advantage and the room was fairly clean.

Review 5:The bed is not made for two. High on the outside and saggy in the middle. It was sleeping with someone in a hammock

Review 6:Close to the oval, clean and functional.

Review 7:Bistro in lobby was questionable. Showed up at 10:45 to eat. Was told we could only have drinks as they take a break between 10 and 11 and at 11 when we went to order there seemed to be no food? Strange.

Review 8:Accommodation right on campus at University of Calgary. Ideal when visiting a student and close to downtown.

Review 9:Some of the staff members were not very as polite as the hotel staff should be.

Review 10:The Location was perfect as it is inside the University of Calgary which I had visited.

Review 11:Excellent accommodation - clean, modern, and with every convenience, including those you don't normally dare to expect - comfortable bed, bright lighting, great work space, plenty of space to put your stuff.

Review 12:the double bed had only 4 inches of space to enter on one side; wifi was hard to log into

Review 13:location: right on the university campus; access to a kitchen

Review 14:A security deposit of $50 PER DAY did not seem to me too friendly. Parking costs $10 per day.

Review 15:Great location on the campus of the university. Bright, clean rooms.

Review 16:The bed: at least take the vinyl cover off the mattress. Your customers are not going to be wetting the bed!

Review 17:The flexibility of facilities (use of lounge, communal kitchen, etc.).

Review 18:There was not breakfsast included and you could not order room service, the restaurant of the hotel was not good.

Review 19:The comfort of the bed and the space.

Review 20:Parking was confusing at first. Wasted money on outside lot before learning about parking garage.

Review 21:Location: short c-train ride to downtown. Very clean and modern.

Review 22:Extra Daily CAD10.00 parking fee. (Should be waived.)

Review 23:Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Great location. Excellent facilities. New building and modern design. Very clean. Kitchen area (pantry area) is very comfortable and convenient. (refrigerator, sink, microwave) - nice nice nice! The bed is firm and very comfortable. (I'm not into soft bed). I love this dorm-style serviced apartment. The landline telephone is very high-tech (AVAYA brand). Free calls to anywhere in Canada and US. Wonderful! Friendly and nice staff. I stayed here for totally 15 days before I moved into my leased long-term apartment. I had a great memory, and enjoyed my stay very very much!

Review 24:What I didnt like is that Booking.com advertised the room as a one bedroom so I paid for three rooms. In fact there are two separate bedrooms in each apartment so I only needed to book two rooms and save 100$. And of course I was told that it was 'impossible' to change by the person at the front desk. The rooms have a kitchen but do not provide so much as a spoon so if you bring your own food, be warned because that is not explained on booking.com either. Neither is the 10$ parking fee.

Review 25:Parking process were not explained until check out. We bought the breakfast option online which was somehow not allowed for with our room number which caused a lot of hassle.

Review 26:Concrete building was great for traveling with an infant.

Review 27:Staying in Uni res - renting a suite I expected at least a bag for my garbage but there is only a soap, shampoo and conditioner. Bed feels like it's covered in plastic, hard, but slept well!

Review 28:Could not connect to wifi for some reason the guy said it was my phone not the connection.. The showers should be updated water leaked everywhere on floor. Guest parking a bit far especially if you have several bags to carry

Review 29:Good location. Everything really modern clean and neat. Quaint little room very comfy lovedd all the channels you can get on on tv. The bistro was fantastic.

Review 30:The aparment has 2 rooms, a kitchen area with fridge, microwave and sink, and a bathroom. The apartment is clean. Free telephone calls to Canada and USA. Room price is reasonable.

Review 31:the room was strange as we had booked a 'one bedroom apartment' but really got one room in a shared student residence. Wifi did not work in our room.

Review 32:Clean bathrooms and good location

Review 33:the daily $10 parking fee can be waived. free guest parking should be nice.

Review 34:I stayed here for 15 nights before I moved into my long-term rental apartment. The building is very new and morden. Very good design. the U OF C campus environment is so quiet and beautiful! For me, I love this dorm-style service apartment! very very cozy, clean! the room has everything you need. the bed is not the luxurious type, but really really comfortable! the room gives you a feeling of peace. Quiet, peaceful, friendly, relaxed. I felt it's like my home 2. I just wish it's my home. If I don't care about the money, I would love to stay here for life. the kitchen area in the apt. is very spacious and handy. the loungue on each floor is really cool and nice. the shared fully-equipped kitchen is so spacious and great. (this is only open to the guests who stay for 5 nights or more) I very much enjoyed every moment during my stay! I would definitely love to come back again! Even I live in Calgary, I still love to stay here for a couple of nights, just for the joyment and relaxation.

Review 35:Free parking would be nice, it's not the closest to DT but if you don't mind walking a little you can catch the train and get to DT in 15 mins ride

Review 36:The hotel is clean, new and well maintained. We were a family of 4 plus two kids. The double rooms apartment were nice and cleaning people did a good job everyday. Didn't try the breakfast.

Review 37:The breakfast menu should be reviewed and it's delivery should be more well organized. Fried or scrambled eggs, not boiled!!

Review 38:I love the location and the staff was excellent .

Review 39:shared bath room should have been posted in the Room description. The height of the bed is award and detracats from the nice decor.

Review 40:University campus location

Review 41:Cheaper than any hotel downtown or near the airport. There are LRT and bus stops very close to the hotel, making it easy and fast to go downtown or to the Stampede even if you don't have a car.

Review 42:No dishes, cutlery or pots in full kitchen, seemed pretty stupid to offer self catering if there is another to cook with!!!

Review 43:Beautiful surroundings, access to facility, access to lrt

Review 44:one room turned into a sitting area instead of both rooms being bedrooms would have been nice. When I booked for two people, I didn't realise that it meant for two people, separately. Poor reading on my part, but regardless the set up was great.

Review 45:Clean, comfortable, friendly

Review 46:Initial room assigned had not been cleaned from previous guest. We had to wait and get a new room, which was good. No issues with room, except it only had one garbage bin (in the bathroom) and a second bath towel would have been great. (One bath towel for two guests isn't quite enough) WiFi was slow.

Review 47:Not too far from C-Train station. Safe, quiet, clean university area. Polite staff. Clean, modern facilities.

Review 48:Room was really small and crowded.. No hair blower and enough towels in the washroom.. Not accurate in the picture... Really had a bad time, uncomfortable

Review 49:The lack of shuttle or easy/ inexpencive transportation to or from the airport

Review 50:The proximity to University of Calgary.

Review 51:Very friendly staffs... Room was always clean. Fantastic breakfast with healthy options!

Review 52:Great room

Review 53:No complaints.

Review 54:The two room apartment gave us two rooms within a room. Nice University setting, and close to the LRT.

Review 55:The bed is very uncomfortable

Review 56:The place is clean

Review 57:Door was left unlock twice.

Review 58:Price , location, and having a small kitchen in the room

Review 59:No pool at hotel, no common area in room, no dishes or cutlery

Review 60:Separate rooms, value for your money, staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 61:room for 2 but only one set of towels

Review 62:Bed& pillows amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of places to eat at a reasonable price.

Review 63:Room not clean & not what was advertised....misleading.

Review 64:Nothing

Review 65:None

Review 66:There were nothing I did`t like good location near public transport nice outlook great staff roomy accom. Good value for money

Review 67:Location, being close to uni.

Review 68:Parking, rooms were way too small. Beds sucked, cramped. Definately not worth the price.

Review 69:The service was excellent and the front desk was very helpful

Review 70:Washroom outside the room

Review 71:Close to University

Review 72:The bad is just ok, but it could be better.

Review 73:Good value for money.

Review 74:They should meet mention that washroom will be sharing.

Review 75:safe, clean, well priced, and great breakfast selections.

Review 76:The bed has some kind of plastic cover which is not very comfortable and provides a lot of heat.
