Reviews for Grey Eagle Resort
Review 1:Lights by bed were different ok but couldnt get to stay up needs shower improvements not much water
Review 2:Very clean the rooms were quiet would like to see better prices on rooms Complimentary breakfast was pretty good
Review 3:Very icy walk from the pool to the hot tub. One of my boys slipped and fell. The vending machine was completely out of drinks. Ther was always someone very intoxicated on the elevator when I was on it with my boys. And only 1 elevator was working
Review 4:It was very clean and tidy. Well maintained and beautiful
Review 5:Didn't like that Only one elevator was working. Didn't like that your machine kept showing an error when trying to process my pre authorization and had to come out of town to pay so we didn't loose our room.
Review 6:Liked the room size. Bed was comfortable and the shower size was great.
Review 7:Only one elevator was working.....had to use the stairs or wait in line to get to the fifth floor.....this was a disappointment
Review 8:Nice rooms.....expensive rates as it was new years eve but that is the date we chose.
Review 9:There used to be a full breakfast menu with amazing french toast with full room service. Not sure why they got rid of it but now the only option is a traditional breakfast that is average at best. No more breakfast in bed for us.
Review 10:Love the simple clean look of the place and how friendly the staff is. Nothing is overpriced. It's the only hotel we stay at whenever we are in Calgary. Also the beds are AMAZING.
Review 11:i didnt like that there was fee's for delivery food and tip was added on your bill menu items in room was not that great. pasta should come with bread
Review 12:i like to see more varierty in foods seem limited of choices suite was very nice and it would be nice if pool had more addition seems to cheap looking.
Review 13:need a better path out to hot tub. needs clock and larger furniture in lobby, beyyerlighting in rooms please, missed having a tub.
Review 14:well located for our needs. very good breakfast included.
Review 15:We stayed in suite on 4th floor over Christmas. Room was very big with separate sitting area and wet bar. Large bathroom and very comfortable bed. Breakfasts were substantial and tasty. We were worried about smoking being so close to the casino but that was not an issue at all. Great access to west side of Calgary, Chinook Centre and easy access to the highway to the mountains. Nearby Weaselhead park is great for walking.
Review 16:The staff were rude and as a First Nation lady. They refused to give me the First Nation rate. I had to pay a higher deposit because I was native and again staff were not very helpful. The maintenance guy was friendlier then the front desk staff.
Review 17:The room I general
Review 18:At the buffet billing station there was only one staff member. When it is as busy as it was there should be 2 people on till. The girl was exceptional considering the pressure she was working under,
Review 19:A clean quiet room with all the bells and whistles. The desk staff was polite and accommodating.
Review 20:The smoke in Casino .woul;d be nice for smoke free gambling section as smoke is so over whelming . my wife is a smoker
Review 21:WE are travelling as a result of regular medical visits to Calgary . The breakfast is nice but staff are disconnected and not so friendly here in a push to get patrons through and out
Review 22:Not a whole lot. I guess a waterslide would have been awesome.
Review 23:Nice big rooms. Very modern looking and clean. Great venue for shows. Well organised. Really good buffet breakfast
Review 24:There are a lot of fees added onto the price you are quoted on the websites. I was quoted $152 and after the "resort fee" and extra taxes, it actually cost $182.
Review 25:This was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Period. I actually bought one of the pillows as they are for sale and you just need to ask the guest services desk.
Review 26:Location , only good if you like casino , it is next to an indian reserve and you are not allowed to walk there , if you do they are very unfriendly. The police was ok. The hotelstaff say that it was ok to walk .The minibar in the room is never refilled , after you took something.
Review 27:The suite is big
Review 28:The only thing missing was a bathtub in the room. I'm ok with a shower but my wife & daughter prefer a bath.
Review 29:Bed very comfortable, room nice, breakfast included was good, restaurant was really nice and had very friendly staff. The attached casino was fun and I won often.
Review 30:Easy and rapid check in and out. Very friendly staff. Rooms spacious and well supplied with coffee machine, towels, soap etc. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast had a great variety of food and nice to eat in a spacious area.
Review 31:Nothing
Review 32:Our stay was wonderful, enjoyed everything !! Breakfast, the best we've ever had !! Comfort and cleanliness were top notch. We will definitely be returning, very soon :-)
Review 33:Not fond of the prices to rent movies or the room services charges. But over all still the hotel I would use again
Review 34:Wbeautiful room amazing shower that was probably the best part was the shower
Review 35:Lack of anywhere to sit outside and enjoy the tranquility. There is no 'garden' area. It just needs to be something simple, for those without a car, who don't want to go into Calgary, or who need a little rest.
Review 36:The comfortable rooms and beds. We slept so well.
Review 37:no microwave in our room. Breakfast was included in our room cost yet we were expected to tip the staff for doing nothing. I served myself. They didn't even pour my coffee. I felt that was intimidating
Review 38:fast elevators, lots of parking, clean, friendly, good meals.
Review 39:The rooms were large , clean and very comfortable. The hotel does charge you a resort fee which includes breakfast and Internet so it really is not free as stated.
Review 40:Since this Facility is Aboriginal owned, walking on the Band Reserve road should not be a "crime" !?! We were "chased" off the road by some rude aboriginal lady in a Black Lincoln Navigator!
Review 41:Free Parking was great All inclusive Buffet Breakfast was appreciated but requires Bacon (not just sausage)
Review 42:The rooms were spacious and very comfy bed. Front desk staff were excellent. My brother and his family that were traveling with us had an issue with a room they had booked with an online company and the girl that was on went above and beyond to get them a room
Review 43:I would have rated this property as more of a 3 ***, nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable.
Review 44:The breakfast was very good and we appreciated the complimentary water in the room.
Review 45:When I went there I have to wait 45 minutes in the lobby. Because of the booking.com . I booked room with two queen beds and they ad you have one king booked in our system. Took 45 minutes to sort it out and we waited in lobby with family. That is horrible time when you pay up front.
Review 46:It's nice accommodation
Review 47:The fish and chips I ordered at the sports bar restaurant was awful the fish inside the over cooked almost burned batter was like rubber, wonder if it was even fish
Review 48:Everything
Review 49:The casino needs some updated slot machines. Also the staff at the casino need some customer service training. People (myself included) were always waiting for service. The staff seemed confused about where every thing was. I can't imagine they were all new. And the manager wsd no better. I have traveled the world and when I have to ask for a wet clothe to clean my counter space and they give it to me and let me...I get worried....training the staff would make a huge difference....other than that it was great....p.s.....the manager was there when I cleaned my counter space....
Review 50:Loved the room, the bed , the bathroom. Breakfast wad great. Staff super friendly.
Review 51:We booked 2 rooms for 5 adults, a king bed room (for me and my husband) and a 2 queen bed room (for my 3 adult children) but when we arrived they only had 2 king rooms - so my tall son needed to sleep on a cot. It is upsetting when you book something and the hotel doesn't deliver. The rest of our stay was pleasant, but I felt the front desk manager could have done something to make up for not having the rooms we booked!
Review 52:The staff were not helpful. Took over 20mins to get our water and drinks at the restaurant because the waitress forgot about us and there were only two other groups eating. We were told that a gluten free breakfast could and would be provided but that did not happen.
Review 53:The room was nice enough
Review 54:The only issue we faced was the dining before our concert.... we had hoped for a nice dinner at the hotel but due to how busy it was they cut the menus to pub food items which was upsetting. This hotel was awesome and the staff should be awarded for their effort.
Review 55:The staff were amazing... they went above and beyond to make my partner feel special on his birthday. Providing the in room surprise I asked ASWELL as staff signed cards and strawberries. We were so thankful. The morning breakfast was awesome as well!
Review 56:The road access for a new visitor is a nightmare. Also not enough light in the room to read a newspaper unless you get into bed. Also got nailed for some "resort fee" Certainly the highest room tax I have ever seen
Review 57:room comfort, cleanliness, service etc
Review 58:Only two things I think that could improve is the room price to be lower , the rooms are great but need some extra seating for quests that visit you at the hotel to gamble and eat
Review 59:Every one was awesome to deal with @ the hotel . Thks
Review 60:Dirty towel left in bathroom on toilet. We left a cash tip & waitress put a tip charge on our room for the same meal - tacky.
Review 61:Guest rooms. Best complimentary bkfs.
Review 62:The staff was super friendly and helpful! And, the beds were a dream!!!! So soft and comfortable!!!!! The room was spotless, and loved the way the shower was set up without a curtain. Lots of counter space in the bathroom too. A nice BIG tv was enjoyable too. The breakfast was way better than anywhere I've been that included breakfast!
Review 63:- The usual breakfast you can find in Motel and Inn
Review 64:- The modern style theme - Exterior view of the hotel - Their soap and shampoo - Wifi is pretty fast
Review 65:Breakfast in casino restraunt had no direction at the door after waiting for sometime we just went in and sat down as did everyone else. Service was not very good waited 45 minutes for our breakfast waitress didn't seem pleased to be there!
Review 66:Very friendly hotel staff!
Review 67:Pool was not too exciting and we had to get 2 rooms for our family of 5.
Review 68:Great new hotel! Spacious rooms, great wifi and an excellent breakfast included in the very reasonable price!
Review 69:Coffee in the room was so bitter I thought it would have been better because it was a keurig and I think real cream in the fridge would be a good touch.
Review 70:The staff was great and the location was very good for our needs. The pool was open but the hot tub was closed so that was a little disappointing. The breakfast staff were helpful and very polite.
Review 71:The only negative thing we experienced was a major traffic jam trying to get to the hotel when a concert was being held at the casino.
Review 72:It was a very clean, comfortable room.
Review 73:We had to leave. This survey is a bit too long. Too many detailed questions. Photos not relevant.
Review 74:Easy to get to. Comfortable, clean. Casino is large and roomy.
Review 75:Card to access the elevator.
Review 76:Very clean, comfortable and staff within the whole resort were great! Loved the 60" flat screen, and a great view from the 5th floor.
Review 77:There were things left in our room from previous guests behind the curtains, next to the window. Also something spilled on the toilet paper roll. We told the front desk, they cleaned the room again.
Review 78:Difficult to initially find. Gps does not show roads, streets, etc onFirst Nation lands in Canada. Requires a $100 damage deposit on check-in(refunded after one week of check-out, but still a surprise!). Not nearany restaurants for dinner except mediocre Casino ones.
Review 79:Brand new (one-year-old) casino hotel. Good for people who like togamble .New bathroom fixtures with an excellent shower.Odd location in alarge, metropolitan city.
Review 80:Each and every member of staff we encountered was cheerful and friendly. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and was extremely quiet. We were impressed with the variety of foods offered at the complimentary breakfast, and would definitely stay here again and again.
Review 81:The breakfast was the same everyday. The hotel had resort fee, tourism levy 4% charged plus the room rate, These additional charges were not disclosed prior to booking on booking.com. The Pop & snacks included in the room were charged. The Fridge wasn't cooling was hot.
Review 82:The facility was very clean I.e rooms, gym & swimming pool.
Review 83:For size of facility a second hot tub, would have been nice. Had to wait a long while until others left, to use the small one out side. Pool was also over crowded at peak times for its size.
Review 84:The breakfast was really nice and so was the gym. Staff were really friendly too!
Review 85:Taxes were excluded in price (resort and tourism...) it was in fine print. so we paid 50 bucks more than quoted
Review 86:I did not want to leave that bed wow. Breakfast was simply amazing, great variety and quality, waiters bustling around. Room was good sized and very comfortable. Location was good for us as we wanted to be near calgary but not in the hustle and bustle to allow quick escapes.
Review 87:The Grey Eagle Resort has something to appeal to most users. From the spaciousness of the rooms, ease of getting around, the facilities and adjacent casino all made it a great place to stay. While it's great to be energy efficient, we think the bedrooms could benefit from increasing the electric light levels.
Review 88:We initially had difficulty finding the hotel as the address didn't register on our GPS.
Review 89:The hotel was well appointed and well priced. The restaurants were also good value for money and conveniently located within the hotel and attached casino complex.
Review 90:Lighting was dim. I was with my 92 year old mother and I was worried she would trip/fall. Fridge didn't seem cold enough. Mom couldn't eat all her dinner we had in the hotel and I put it in the fridge. Some of the breakfast items weren't as hot as I would have liked.
Review 91:Nice roomy room. Keurig coffee maker. Shower rather than a tub. Toiletries. Don't have to go outside to go to the casino. Restaurant in the casino was good.
Review 92:Evening meal in the little chief restaurant poor quality and service The hotel is a bit far out from the city or nearby tram system you need a car Charges as its a casino resort which we didn't need or want
Review 93:New facility kept to high standard Ideal tourist hotel for moving onto the Rockies
Review 94:Gym out of water and when I told the front, he said there was no one to replace the water bottle right now. Although they did replace it 15 minutes later
Review 95:Clean, nice new feel. Great breakfast. Love the gym. Love the soap/shampoo products they had
Review 96:Advertise the 10% resort fee before you have already paid, not that we wouldn't have stayed anyway but be up front. Possibly it was shown but I didn't see it.
Review 97:Very quiet Comfortable beds Excellent Breakfast Easy access and exit from the city
Review 98:WiFi was slow, ended up giving up and using my phone data. I was incredibly surprised to find that my room had no bathtub, only a shower. Half of my reasoning to stay in a hotel rather than with friends or family in Calgary was that I've been living in a situation with no bathtub for the past three months and just desperately wanted to relax in a bath... So that was awkward.room also had no overhead lighting and even opening the window and using provided lights was still very dark. Too dark to read.
Review 99:Front desk staff was nice and helpful. Wait staff and cleaning staff were also very nice. Location was ideal as I was in town for a concert at the event center and was able to consume alcohol without worrying about driving afterwards.Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Review 100:The entire Grey Eagle experience was fabulous. Staff excellent, large bedroom (most comfortable beds ever), breakfast included in price, absolutely nothing negative to say. The restaurant/bar in the Casino was also excellent value and the food really good.
Review 101:My husband and I stayed there for our first Anniversary. The staff were very friendly and accommodating! The room was beautiful and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable! There was so much to do with the Casino, pool and hut tub available! And not to forget the Restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were fantastic! By far the best place we have ever stayed! We will certainly be back! :)
Review 102:I didn't like that the posted online menu for the hotel restaurant was not available. The reason was that there was a show on that night. ? There was no bath in the room. The AC was loud.
Review 103:The bed was great. The room service food was great.
Review 104:Did not like the sausage at breakfast. Also toaster did not work properly toast was not propelled out so people were waiting for their toast to come out while it was sitting just under the back of the toaster.
Review 105:The bed, pillows and linens were exceptionally comfortable.
Review 106:Wifi internet was very slow. Breakfast didn't offer much in vegan offerings. The grounds weren't very nice.
Review 107:Room was great size and clean. Price was very reasonable
Review 108:This hotel was classed as a resort hotel. (Casino and Events area). The pool was tiny and had only one chair and one lounger in it. There was a lovely seating area outside near to the restaurant we had breakfast but we were advised by staff that it was not available until 12 noon which was a shame as we would have liked to use it after breakfast. Items for breakfast on display kept running out and on each morning we had to point this out to staff to have them replenished. There was only one toaster catering for such a large number of guests using it causing delays. Resort fee were added to bill as well as the customary taxes.
Review 109:The hotel is new and the bedrooms were beautifully furnished and the beds so comfortable. Staff were very pleasant.
Review 110:Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on in a hotel! Loved the breakfast too! Staff was friendly. Loved that everything I wanted was right there at the resort, although the gift shop could have more of a selection of snacks.
Review 111:hotel could have more native art,and historical photos , wich could be sourced from the glen bow museum , archives.
Review 112:did not have to leave the complex, everything was there. looking forward to doing it again, when a head liner is booked.
Review 113:I didn't like the fact that the hotel added a "resort tax"to the room rate in addition to the gst; wo what if it appeared in fineprint somewhere, it's still aggravating: what resort? I'm just atourist looking for a nice place to spend the night, Why can'tbooking.com display the total cost of the room in block letters withoutsubjecting the customer to creative pricing practices? This btw is ageneral complaints about cost of rooms displayed in your web site.
Review 114:Clean, modern, comfortable, parking.
Review 115:Strange road layout by hotel. We could see the hotel but couldn't find the right way to get to it due to multi option exit lanes. Extremely noisy aircon. Even when we switched the control to off it wouldn't stop. Couldn't sleep.
Review 116:Excellent wi fi. Excellent choices for breakfast. Good food in restaurant...4 of dining options
Review 117:The price of the room was double because of the Stampede. Didn't like the smoke in the casino. The breakfast was the same both mornings. The eggs were not very appetizing. Elevators not very fast. Only two and one wasn't working the last day we stayed.
Review 118:Staff was very friendly. Rooms very new, spacious, comfortable and clean.
Review 119:Didn't win any money lol. I misplaced my vehicle keys, securityfound them and kept them at the office for me.
Review 120:Able to have a smoke in the casino
Review 121:It was a little 'soulless' but perfect for a short stay. We would return to this hotel.
Review 122:The room was excellent with all the facilities required including the free wifi. The hotel is very new with easy access to major highways. Excellent Ctrain service nearby (free parking) into Calgary.
Review 123:Carpets were kinda dirty and had some sticky spots in the room.
Review 124:Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent and the servers were great. Great location.
Review 125:No bacon on the breakfast buffet.
Review 126:Very friendly staff, excellent food in the restaurant, great location,, quiietsurroundings, superb room, ver fast wifi. All in all a first class experience.
Review 127:The resort fee, not sure why a resort fee is required, but I suspect it is ireaosn they give you "free" wifi". Resort fee was $10, which was not too bad. Attached casino machines seem to be very "stingy", but it was very nice casino.
Review 128:Staff very friendly, location is easy to find, rooms very comfortable and clean.
Review 129:no special acknowledgment even though they were advised it was a 90 birthday for someone that was going to be spending a lot of time and of course money in the casino
Review 130:my 90 yr old mother could just walk to casino and this was her 90 birthday present
Review 131:We were in too big a rush to leave in the morning to have any breakfast!!!
Review 132:Despite being a casino resort the hotel was quiet, clean and nice to look at!
Review 133:Had no bad experience. This is my 4 time stay at Grey Eagle.
Review 134:I like it that most times I don't have to wait till 3pm for a room if they have one when I get there like at 10:30am they give me a room right away so I can relax faster and enjoy my stay even more.
Review 135:Conveniently located to the Southwest / Springbank area of Calgary. We booked this for a family member visitng from Toronto and she was very impressed with the quality of this hotel especially the comfortable bed.
Review 136:Not really a bad experience just felt a little uncomfortable checking in. Being 22 and my best friend being 22 as well checking in it came across as the girl thought we couldn't afford it or that we would trash the place or something! After I paid and made the deposit in cash she eased up a bit but it still made us feel slightly stereotyped
Review 137:This was the best experience inexpensive room great service (I forgot my 600$ camera out came back it was exactly where I left it and our beds were made!) The beds were as if sleeping on clouds I actually intend to buy one! The breakfast was great!
