Reviews for The Prince George Hotel
Review 1:Bar tender was rude on the evening of the 31st dec. and although most of the other staff were friendly customer service was not at 4 star level in my experience and it spoilt our evening sadly . Australian concierge was excellent however but I can't remember his name
Review 2:Location and spa
Review 3:I arrived and the booking, that you guys told me was confirmed, in fact had not been made at all. The clerk at the hotel offered me a much smaller room for the same price as the executive suite that you said you had booked me. I declined such an inconsiderate offer and said I would take a regular room. I had to pay $209 for a regular hotel room with ordinary amenities which is more expensive than is reasonable. I did not have much of a choice however since it was late. I feel really let down by you guys.
Review 4:Nice looking place. Clean and food tasted good.
Review 5:Do not stay there on Halloween! It is a party hotel, and the staff does nothing to quell the noise in the hallways at 2:00 am. Also DO NOT REQUEST A WAKE-UP CALL. They will fail to honor it, and will feebly blame "the computer system."
Review 6:The hotel is very nice, and is centrally located.
Review 7:I upgraded to the Executive Floor and it wasnt worth the money. I could hear everything through the walls and was woken every time anyone used the bathroom, let alone watched TV. There were also no bathrobes, even on the executive floor, and the ventilation fan didnt work in the bathroom.
Review 8:Staff were great. Location worked for me but its quite a hike up a hill so might not work for everyone.
Review 9:Parking. When we arrived we had to look for parking in their parkade, and they were not positive they even had room. We eventually found one, after waiting for someone to leave. However if we didn't find one, we would have had to look elsewhere and walk to the hotel with our luggage.
Review 10:Location was amazing. We were walking distance to everything we wanted including restaurants, pubs and city attractions.
Review 11:Parkade could be a little easier to drive in and out of. Just. Minor tweak would help
Review 12:I liked it all. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay
Review 13:Only problems - there is a huge construction project right next to the hotel on Argyle Street which made a lot of noise and the lights at night from the Cheers bar are blinding.
Review 14:Centrally located; Helpful, friendly staff; Clean, comfortable rooms; beautiful outside terrace
Review 15:The pool was great, I had it to myself. The bed was huge! The room was wonderful and the view was fantastic. The staff were helpful for our every need.
Review 16:No bad experiences!
Review 17:The many contacts we had with employees were very pleasant and all employees were very courteous, friendly and made an effort to make our stay at "Prince George" very enjoyable.
Review 18:There wasn't really anything that I didn't like. The street behind the hotel is mainly bars and nightclubs so it could get loud at night with lineups and bar goers on the street. Keep in mind it was labour day weekend so university kids were back and the purpose of our stay was to drop off our son and to experience Halifax. For us it wasn't an issue because it gave us a feel of the spirit of Halifax!
Review 19:The hotel is situated in an excellent location in downtown Halifax. Within walking distance to Dalhousie University, 25 min. to where our son is attending. Close to restaurants and waterfront. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room and bed was comfortable and clean. Also, I loved the modern decor and ambiance of the lobby, bar and there was a large deck out the back. Nice venue for weddings. There was a pool and fitness room we didn't use but it looked nice. We would stay there again on next visit.
Review 20:Streak of unlucky items: toilet blocked upon arrival, trying to call front desk: no answer, wi-fi connection very erratic and not reliable (all across the hotel even on one evening!), one elevator not functioning while my husband was in...
Review 21:Nice clean modern hotel, well located (everything is walking distance in lovely Halifax!)
Review 22:The breakfast what is upstairs for the suites is a joke.. nothing but muffins, already mixed fruits (not so good if u have allregies on other fruits) n some cereal..i mean its worthless to have breakfast unless u go downstairs...
Review 23:Stayed in the prince suite, was really nice and clean, room service fast n the food is actually really good!
Review 24:The reception desk is not very customer oriented. We booked through booking.com and had a confirmation email from the hotel. However they didn't have our room and their only solution was for us to pay for a two night upgrade. When we were checking out there was new problems. As long as they have this negative attitude I can not recommend this hotel.
Review 25:The pool area
Review 26:My experience was perfect. I will stay here on future visits to Halifax.
Review 27:Staff was very helpful for vegetarian food options. Very clean and quiet. Easy access parking garage. Great location just down from the Citadel and public gardens, waterfront, museums within a short walk.
Review 28:Insufficient sound insulation - we got woken up by people talking in the hall. We requested an extra bathrobe twice, they said it would arrive but it never did. The breakfast was ok but not spectacular, and quite expensive.
Review 29:The top floor longe is nice, you get free drinks and snacks all day. Pool and hot tub were nice to have. The staff were super friendly to us. Good location, right downtown.
Review 30:Parking was a bit pricey at $23/night
Review 31:This hotel was excellent in every way. We were very impressed. Theservice was phenomenal, the interior of the hotel was beautiful and thelocation was perfect - walking distance to everything. However the onething that set this hotel apart from other ones I have stayed was howpet-friendly they were. Bringing a dog along on a trip, they arentalways welcome at hotels and when they are you dont always get the bestexperience. My dog was not only welcome, but got a welcome back upon check-in with all kinds of great goodies - including treats and a blanket. This makes a huge difference. When we come back to Halifax, there is noquestion - we will definitely be staying here again.
Review 32:This hotel considers itself to have a high level of amenities, yet there is no free coffee in the room or in the lobby! Coffee is for sale in the lobby for ~$3.
Review 33:easy walking distance to many places to eat, the waterfront and historical places. One the street overnight parking for free if you are comfortable with that.
Review 34:I didn't really like how parking was extra, also when I booked a room I did book for 2 seniors 2 adults and 1 child, but their were 2 beds and I called down for a cot and that was an extra charge. I also thought breakfast was included,I guess miss communication when we checked in. I thought it was over priced for what we ate, we would of got a coffee and muffin else where and kept traveling if we would of known. But the buffet was nice, lots of food, maybe we would of had more knowing we were paying extra for it. If we stayed 2 nights it would of been nicer to enjoy all there was to offer, but when it's just a room to sleep for 1 night and have something to eat in the morning, then off to travel the next day, it was a bit pricey for me anyway. But it's always a learning experience:)
Review 35:The beds were really comfortable, it was also nice for my daughter to be able to have a little swim, we all really like how beautiful everything was, flowers, spacious areas in the lounge ares. The staff were great, very helpful, you didn't have to ask for help because they kept asking if we needed help with our luggage, ect. Everything was clean and the lobby was laid out very nice, it looked very beautiful and modern.
Review 36:I upgrade my room by paying extra 30 dollars which move to top of floor and with breakfast. But the breakfast wasn't good at all. No hot food. Not worth to upgrade. The room is just basic room and air conditioner was really loud.
Review 37:Location, close to everything. Staffs are really helpful. Bed is really comfortable. Wifi is fast.
Review 38:The location was great - 5 minute walk to the harbour and steps from tons of great restaurants. The breakfast in the hotel is amazing (have the omelettes and waffles!) The room was clean and staff at the hotel are very friendly. The movie rentals were a bit expensive but everything else was wonderful.
Review 39:Could not figure out how to turn on the shower. instead of a turn of the handle between the hot and cold symbols one had to use a lot of force to pull the tap straight outward.
Review 40:Accommodations were central and walkable to everywhere we went. Staff that we met were very friendly and helpful.
Review 41:Breakfast wasn't included
Review 42:Very centrally located, clean, good WIFI, quiet rooms and good service by all staff at the hotel! I would definitely stay here again. Good value for money.
Review 43:One of the guys at the front desk was a bit lacking in customer service. We had 3 rooms booked for two nights. We asked for a better rate on parking. We were given a better rate.My brother landed & booked a room as well. We asked for a better rate for him and I didn't like his response.I am a banker and there is always a nice way to talk to your clients. He didn't have it. My brother was going to leave at that point but he had a flat tire. We just wanted to take the car off the road. It was late. $11. is not worth how good we all felt and then to turn it into a bad experience just because he didn't know how to explain why we couldn't have a better parking rate.
Review 44:Loved the pillows / loved the location. My daughter graduated from Mt St Vincent.Management sent a sweet tray to her room with a nice card. We all thought that was very nice.
Review 45:The bathroom sink was a bit slow, and we had some problem with the flush of the toilet (it gets stuck from time to time and doesn't fill the tank properly). The internet was slow from time to time.
Review 46:The location is great, very close to restaurants and main attractions. It was very clean.
Review 47:The only issue we had was the TV cable connection. It seemed to need to be reset each time we turned it on. Concierge came up the first time very quickly and fixed it right away but it happened again the next morning so took us some time to fix it ourselves. They were very apologetic on check out and removed our movie charge for the inconvenience.
Review 48:We have stayed here before and not been disappointed. I was impressed that we could not hear the construction going on next door however we did ask for a room on the far side of the hotel. Always very good service and friendly staff.
Review 49:The hidden costs when booking with booking.com example taxes and parking that are added at check-out.
Review 50:It's close to the activity that I was attending; walking distance to everything.
Review 51:Everything was great, but a little pricey for my budget. It was birthday/mothers day weekend though and it was lovely for the occassion. I would stay frequently if I could afford it!
Review 52:Very friendly and welcoming with spotless comfortable rooms!
Review 53:Love the location and how close it is to dining and events at the Scotiabank Centre! Can park at the hotel and walk across the road and you are there!
Review 54:Nothing bad really. Just we were in what was supposed to be a renovated room...I would say it had new fixtures, carpets & curtains but the paint job didn't hide all the sins of the past.
Review 55:The location was ideal for us as it was connected to the Scotiabank Center and the WWTCC. So the cost was a bit more than I would normally be willing to pay but for the convenience and parking it was worth it in this case.
Review 56:The staff were friendly and helpful. The hospitality suite (617) was a wonderful bonus. Perfect location as we were there for an event at WTCC and one person in our party had some mobility issues.
Review 57:Very noisy and only one elevator working; there was an wedding event the night we were there and there were long lineups for the elevator. Even the stairs were blocked off so you couldn't use them. This would have been a safety hazard if a fire broke out.
Review 58:Price, location and room.
Review 59:Double beds are too small for an average couple to sleep on! Bathroom was OK but not spectacular. Confusing to get out of the parkade when they tell you to use your room key to get in and out - but then you've given it back to check out - we sat there for ten minutes trying to get someone on the speaker!
Review 60:Location right close to everything downtown. Nice room, nice minibar. Lobby area very nice and welcoming.
Review 61:Nothing to say here except excellent job in thinking of all the details to make our stay outstanding.
Review 62:Ease of accessibility to WTCC. Upgraded to top floor with King bed and free continental breakfast. Most comfortable bed we have ever had in a hotel room. Very clean and bright. Beautiful shower enclosure. Nice to see the shampoo and soap in a large bottle mounted on the wall. Usually we have to adjust the room temperature but it was set to a perfect heat. Loved everything about this hotel. It has taken over top spot in downtown Halifax for us.
Review 63:There was a fee that needed to be re-funded. It wasn't. I didn't know. I was across the bridge and in another part of the city before they called me. If I'd directly left Halifax, I'd have been an hour away when I got the call.
Review 64:The location was perfect. It is close to everything. The staff was friendly. The hotel was easy to navigate. The rooms were clean and well laid out. The rooms had everything you'd need.
Review 65:Certain items (wallpaper, carpet, furniture corners) were worn and somewhat damaged - faulty carpet/tile intersection caused my partner to fall
Review 66:"Executive suite" was nicely sized and mostly comfortable Shower was excellent - beautiful and spacious
Review 67:We weren't in love with the walk up to the hotel from the water front, but that isn't a reflection on the hotel.
Review 68:The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. loved the outside atrium and the lounge area. Particularly liked being able to pick up fresh pastries and good coffee in the bar in the morning rather than having to have a full breakfast in a hotel dining room.
Review 69:We showed up at around 9 pm tired and hungry after a long flight from Germany.. First there's no parking, so you have no other choice but to pay 30.00 for valet. the restaurant was under renovation, our room was very dated and our bed clothes had rips and tears in it. At 250.00 a night I excepted a lot more for my money.. Would never stay here again..
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:Paying for parking. Hotel is on a steep incline (wife has a bad knee )
Review 72:Efficient staff - dedicated 6th floor dining / lounge with all inclusive continental breakfast / soft drinks / teas coffees etc .. Inclusive complimentary Wi Fi. Gio restaurant is superb for food and service.
Review 73:Rooms are dated; lighting low Parking is difficult and expensive No valet, no bellman (at least on Sunday) Restaurant closed on Sunday night
Review 74:Location Cleanliness of rooms
Review 75:the price on the first day was more than the second. i called they said hotel was full on first night thats why the price was higher. think both nights should have been the same.
Review 76:Tiny, minor issue in an otherwise perfect hotel - there are no convenient phone outlets on the bed stand and the radio/clock very much needed an upgrade. Also, a quality room that should have robes. Fantastic hotel.
Review 77:The only minor issue was being moved to another room on my second night which was located next to a conference room. I was woken up by voices in a meeting next door.
Review 78:The service and facilities were great value. The staff have a can do attitude and the location is in the center of the action.
Review 79:We asked for a higher room with a view we received third floor looking at a building. Thevfood at the cafe was just ok in a city of fabulous restaurants i would choose another breakfast place.
Review 80:Lovely comfortable clean room. Good beds. This central location was so easy to get around without a car. There was a good business center. Ok breakfast buffet serving the regular types of things for 18 dollars. Nice remodel in the common areas. Staff was pleasant. I wold stay again
Review 81:Was a bit more expensive than what we usually pay, but we realize it was probably because it was on a long weekend.
Review 82:The beds were very comfortable!! Soundproofing was good. Loved the pool. Beautiful lobby and bar. Loved that it was close to the waterfront.
Review 83:rooms seemed a bit old and not so hip as the lobby; did not get a chance to enjoy other facilities
Review 84:atmosphere, close to center and all attractions, close to Dalhousie University, helpful staff
Review 85:poor breakfast, no re-fill, dirty later wrong room pictures at booking.com reception staff could show more interest in guests' expectations room cards failed to work twice
Review 86:nice room good location
Review 87:Terrible view towards a run-down building across the street.
Review 88:We liked the beautiful lobby, the sauna and Jacuzzi. Did not use any other services, so can't comment. Very convinient location to waterfront.
Review 89:Everything. We moved from an older Victorian hotel because the room was completely inadequate there. We were greeted with a welcome, put into a large, top floor room with a view to make sure we would look back on our trip to Haifax fondly.
Review 90:Booking .com doesn't tell you the real deal. Thought the room would be some thing really special since it was on top floor, supposed view of city etc. Only extra was breakfast included, and it was continental, oh yeah a newspaper from Ontario so you knew what was going on in Toronto, nothing about happenings in Halifax.
Review 91:Room was Clean and bed was comfortable.
Review 92:Everybody was so helpful and friendly! Breakfast was lovely, everything was nice!
Review 93:Clean, high end, modern facilities, friendly, helpful staff.

Review 107:Great staff
Review 108:Was not told brackfast was included. Found out later but already paid

Review 111:Dinner at Gio restaurant
Review 112:Clean, quiet and comfortable beds Staff very accommodating, were able to get us into restaurant at last minute, excellent meal.
