Reviews for Hotel Le Chantecler

Review 1:Room was way too small and smelled terrible if AC was on. Bathroom was so tiny I could sit on the toilet and brush my teeth at the same time! The music from a wedding reception was heard all the way until 2PM. Could barely sleep! Way too expensive for what we got.

Review 2:Gorgeous hotel. Really enjoyed the squash courts (surprise since it's barely mentioned on the site).

Review 3:Staffs at the reception they are not friendly and do not give us the proper information during check in.

Review 4:I like the service of the staff Michel he gives the right information. The lake at the resort was amazing.

Review 5:You must check the final rate they charged on your credit card. I almost got regular price if i didn't ask for the reciept. Very disappointed there no brunch served during the week.

Review 6:The view of lake is great. They got private beach..small tho. we went on weekday.. so not too crowdy..

Review 7:I was not told at any time the air conditioning was not working. I asked to have someone sent to fix it and no one came. It was hot at times. Would have liked them to try and accommodate us in another room.

Review 8:Staff was friendly. Good location.

Review 9:For some unknown reason we did not get our room cleaned, garbage was still in the room. Towels were not changed. Once we contacted reception, they corrected it right away and apologised. Do not like new Kurick coffee maker. Prefer old one , since you can easily make cup a soup or even instant oat meal.

Review 10:Very clean, and good size , comfortable beds. Great location.

Review 11:Very dim lights in the rooms, All night we could hear voices from the room next to us, Rooms look outdated

Review 12:Reception was nice, Sports equipment was great, View And Location near lake, Paddle boats and canoes available Massive hotel

Review 13:The beds were horrible and the pillows and linens were atrocious. One of the worst sleeps I have ever had in a hotel Fairmount should buy this property and renovate. It has so much potential , but is in need of a serious facelift

Review 14:The lakefront was great. You can tell that this once was a very classy property .......in 1971

Review 15:It's a bit hard to find and navigate the narrow, steep roads. Stay in the upper parking lot if you can.

Review 16:This is great hotel for a ski get a way. Much nicer than a similarly priced motel. And definitely worth it if you're staying a few nights.

Review 17:Room rustic but not cozy, Poor access to the lake. Steps to the lake not cleared to allow overpriced restaurant for the quality of food. Over priced breakfast. The impression I get is that this hotel was, in its time, a busy convention and meeting center that has just lost it. Now the ownership doesn't really care to reinvest. It could, maybe, benefit from a association with a 'name hotel chain to recapture that business while the owners reinvest in the hotel to bring the rooms up to date.

Review 18:Clean rooms, nice common area nice facilities and the location and outdoor activities. Deserves a higher rating than what has been given but changes need to be made

Review 19:The place is a little bit run down and needs many updates. Their Wi-Fi does not work at all and their TV channels is limited with no movies very disappointing

Review 20:The location is very nice. It is situated on the edge of a beautiful lake

Review 21:1. I did not have the possibility to choose a room; it was just given to me. 2. NO ONE of the employees I crossed during the 4 days stay ever smiled to us 3. I got no reliable/useful information from the front desk about restaurants in the area 4. Restaurant very expensive for the quality of the meals 5. Pillows completely uncomfortable 6. Saw many posters with different numbers of stars leading to confusion about the hotel rate

Review 22:1. Frozen lake in proximity

Review 23:The upper rooms only have sheer curtains on them so light filters in even at night. If you need a darker room choose the lower level.

Review 24:The location was excellent, next to beautiful walking trails and breathtaking views. Walking distance to nice restaurants and very close proximity to the town. The room was very clean and quiet and staff was friendly.

Review 25:Like I said in the headline... bathroom needs renovation big time especially the room we had (1208 and 1210)...should have a widescreen t.v. The staff at the front counter was not very friendly and not very orga nized....(especially one of them) also, the parking is way too far...

Review 26:The hotel needs some renovations...I was surprised that there was no elevators to get to the rooms but apparently they do have rooms in the main level for groups...

Review 27:reasonable cost...

Review 28:Food was horrible and to expensive. I went with my black friend he hadto leave because there was only white people staying there and theylooked at him like he was a robber.

Review 29:THe hotel was great beautiful on the outside. Inside was verydisappointed. The rooms and beds too small.

Review 30:The hotel spend then entire time preparing a Hugh stage on the beach that took up at least 3/4 of the beach and then closed it one day to allow a group to film a show! All this and did not advise the hotel guests! I was furious because the best thing about the hotel is having the beach steps away from the hotel ! I am very upset!

Review 31:no elevators...room with double beds too small for family of 4.

Review 32:the location, staff, the view, the food, indoor pool and hot tub and the private beach.

Review 33:They opened the pool from 5pm to 9pm... this made it difficult for me to entertain my twin 7 year olds all day. The beach was great but, we are not "sunshine lovers", and we were counting on using the pool a lot during each day! They really need an elevator...spiral staircases are nice for appeal but, are murder to take your luggage to the room!

Review 34:Beautiful scenery, wonderful hotel with plenty of history, good value. Next time, I will play golf... looks like a great course! Hotel feels like a castle, and the entrance is impressive!

Review 35:service & administration

Review 36:Location

Review 37:Furniture old, dirt behind dressers, therapeutic bath dirty or stained in nozzles so I didn't want to use it. The room had a bad sml

Review 38:Old building and therefore very noisy. Not so comfortable.

Review 39:Location and staff is great. Beach access is also very nice.

Review 40:nO ELEVATORS

Review 41:I WOULD HAVE LIKED THAT AT LEAST BREAKFAST WAS INCLUDED.

Review 42:Terrace bar noisy with loud music till very late

Review 43:Les lits ne sont pas confortables. Wi fi ne fonctionnait pas dans les chambres. Très vieux sans avoir été rénové.

Review 44:Being awakened at 7am with construction banging on top floor.

Review 45:Massage,pool, service at the restaurant-bar.

Review 46:Everything

Review 47:Mountains and lake

Review 48:rooms are not sound insulated very well..

Review 49:amazing location, very nice access to the lake that made swimming in the lake very inviting...

Review 50:jacuzzi closed to early

Review 51:jacuzzi should be open later

Review 52:Very noisy in the morning. Staff were cleaning the rooms next to ours at 8h30 in the morning if it wasn't earlier and also talking loud. If I want people to wake me up early a Sunday I will stay home and my kids will take care of it.

Review 53:room comfort: there was no sound isolation... could hear next room conversation ! Bathroom was clean but old including the bathtub

Review 54:great location, right on the lake, splendid view from dining area as well great service from pleasant staff

Review 55:The part of the hotel that we were in is old and needs a reno real bad... Some stuff was falling apart (armoire) and the paint is chipping

Review 56:The location of the hotel (area) with the lake right in front that we could skate and toboggan... Nice scenery

Review 57:The standard rooms are tiny. If you open the door, it almost smacks the bed. The walls are very thin and you could hear the conversations in other rooms and in the hallway. Wallpaper in the room is peeling off and needs to be redone.

Review 58:I enjoyed the old french look that the hotel presented us.

Review 59:The room looks kinda old and tv wasnt working very well . Not a 4 star hotel when you see the room..

Review 60:I liked the area its very nice and the hotel is also very nice

Review 61:They absolutely do not deserve the 4 stars they were given

Review 62:The location is very desirable. Food was good and they have a DJ providing good variety music for all ages

Review 63:the bed was a little hard for my liking

Review 64:the setting on the lake is spectacular as is the food. the staff were just wonderful. very close to saint sauveuer with great shopping. excellent value for your money. the room was spacious and clean. we had just booked for two days but extended our holiday one more day because we loved the place so.

Review 65:The room was in the older part of the building (as expected from the description) but was poorly maintained and run down. The desk staff were aloof, and very very slow. The room was not ready by check-in time. They had a really awful singer outside on the deck and there was no escaping the noise to the peace of the country .... could go on. Bottom line -even at booking.com prices the value is not there for this hotel.

Review 66:I am hard pressed to think of anything - it is a shadow of it's former self.

Review 67:1. I received a room instead of two twin beds only one. 2. The room was without air conditioner, instead they gave us a fan. 3. An old fashion hotel, not really build for small kids. A lot of stairs, especially to the beach. 4. Besides the beach, I didn't like anything.

Review 68:We were given rooms in the old part of the hotel, there is no elevator, the rooms are not sound proof, there was a big insect in the bathroom, we requested a crib and adjoining rooms when we made the reservation we did not get adjoining rooms and we did not get the crib until after 10PM.

Review 69:The location is good, right in the heart of St-Adele there were lots of restaurants, a festival, there is a beach on the property and lots of outdoor space for kids to play.

Review 70:the room i had was very noisy . i was just near a door that kept slaming until 4AM , then people were loud in the corridors until 4AM and as of 7AM .

Review 71:the view ,

Review 72:Although we had printed a copy of our reservation, there was no other evidence of our reservation. It too 1/2 hour to sort out & was most embarrassing! It still rankles. The reservation was made on the Internet. Michael barber

Review 73:The smallest room ever possible. It was a room with two double beds and there was no way to open luggage on the floor. No bar fridge, no ironer. Very cold floor (make sure to have sneakers).

Review 74:Location is beautiful and everything is clean.

Review 75:Not child friendly. Bistro bar area which had cost effective snacks would not admit children due to local laws. Children are segregated to eat at tables in the hallway. Only other alternative was a pricey buffet in a formal dining room.

Review 76:Good facilities and close to local restaurants.

Review 77:We asked for room in Hoteland were told on arrival that we were upgraded, but ended up in cellar with no view but a snow bank..I had to go to desk to complain and they gave me a better room on second floor....bathrooms are shabby...in bad need of repair...Easter Brunch was $37 dollars + tax per person...way too expensive..so we ate elsewhere....staff appears disinterested in client service

Review 78:Location is fine....only good comment

Review 79:Not being able to have just coffee and toast for breakfast, or roomservice, no help with our bags as my husband is ill, long walk fromparking, and from room to dining room, fridge not working in room, madechanged my own pillowcase from my own pillow and sent to laundry (gone),carpets not clean in dining room.

Review 80:Spa services were great, cleaning services were great, dining room staffgreat, reception excellent as well. Minus a few little glitches, wewould go back...it is a a perfect spot and staff was all very nice

Review 81:Room was small. Lack standard features ie large tv. Shape of building not well design. Narrow hallways, lots of stairs. Long distance to different rooms.

Review 82:Building had character. Nice view of lake.

Review 83:The Tre Monti dining room only offered a buffet on Sat. night, and stopped serving at 9 pm. We were unable to dine there because of previous activity which made us return to the hotel a bit too late for the buffet. Having said that, the atmosphere in the bar was enjoyable. The food however was not very good. Improvement could be made in that area. The hotel had booked a young hockey team that evening and the group (both children and parents) was very noisy both late night and early morning (the fire alarm was activated twice Sat. night). This hotel should really not cater to young groups since it has a very relaxed and country laid back feel to it. Would have preferred a more quiet setting.

Review 84:We had booked night snowshoeing with EcoMonde tours which left from the parking lot of the 9 hole golf course at the Chantecler so decided to stay overnight at the hotel. Our stay was comfortable, the room was fine and the entertainment at the bar where we had dinner was very enjoyable. Breakfast buffet the next morning was also very relaxing.

Review 85:Tv wasn't working properly and couldn't be fixed; old bathroomsand rooms needing some renovations

Review 86:Fantastic location - beautiful view; exterior look of the hotelreally charming

Review 87:The restaurant closed at 8:30 P.M. and that no room service wasavailable. The hotel was noisy during the night because of there was aparty. We changed room but there was still some noise. This hotel hasmany rooms and it has a negative impact on the expected cosiness of sucha place. The Sunday brunch was expensive

Review 88:The location and the Sunday brunch

Review 89:Reception staff were a bit rude. They said they had not received all of the reservations when in fact they had. The restaurant staff were exceptional given that they were understaffed resulting in slow service due to volume.

Review 90:Not a whole lot.

Review 91:when the kids wanted to rent paddle boats they were told they couldnt and would have to wait for other people to come in even there were 5 unused ones at the dock they were very disappointed they could not go on the paddle boats when that was one of the things they were looking forward to

Review 92:the hotel and location is beautiful

Review 93:breakfast stopped at 10:00 and Sunday brunch didnt start until 11:00... which we were not made aware of at check-in, therefore on a leisurely Sunday morning at 10:10 we had no breakfast options and left. ***A lot of steps between rooms and lobby or out doors.

Review 94:grounds were beautiful, esp beach area /view of lake

Review 95:We had a room in the older section of the building and the noise from the hallway was very loud. The housekeeping services were below average in our room.

Review 96:Scenic location, close to tourist shopping and activities

Review 97:Old property. Needs to be refreshed. Breakfast choice was buffet only

Review 98:Thé room need update thé gym ans thé Spa too mot à 4 stars

Review 99:Thé location

Review 100:My father lives down the street from the hotel so it is the perfect location for visiting.

Review 101:Rooms are old ´ Old carpet on the floor Small bath etc.... And poor food

Review 102:The spot, location

Review 103:Too noisy we ear everything behind the walls

Review 104:Lack of elevators was a serious drawback.

Review 105:the dining room was excellent.

Review 106:beach closed for 2 days without worning no location for 2 days without explanation no smile on the face off the staff

Review 113:Good location for nature excursions.

Review 114:- unfriendly staff - definitely not 4 stars, not even 3 - broken toilet, broken shower

Review 115:comfortable bed

Review 116:Hotel needs major renovations and upgrade

Review 117:Chantecler is a beautiful area

Review 118:I liked the location, and the ambiance of the hotel.

Review 121:The location. The outside look.

Review 122:Same as above

Review 123:Our room was old and is in need of updating. Facilities seemed run down a bit.
