Reviews for Kaloyanova Fortress

Review 1:The only thing was not receiving the complimentary wine with their own label - complimentary with meal - because the chef had used the last bottle in the cooking!!!

Review 2:Stayed here before. Love it! Especially Eric the caretaker (Fred Flintstone) - an exuberant character. Boris the waiter who will write you a note on how to make English coffee which you can produce at other BG restaurants and speaks excellent English----- - and of course the beautiful Gabrielle for English translation when Boris is not around. Lovely girl - lovely welcoming personality..

Review 3:Some bathroom equipment needs to be repaired.

Review 4:Nice view. Good location in quiet place. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with peculiar decoration. Good breakfast with big menu.

Review 5:First, when we arrived to the hotel, there was a huge wedding party. Perhaps, we could stay in the room, but it wouldn't be possible to use restaurant or go outside. Second, the staff was not informed about our stay. Third, they didn't even bother to help us to find another hotel.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:There was a wedding the night we stayed so the staff were so slow serving us we went into abanassi and had good there instead

Review 8:Lovely setting, my 11 year old boy loved staying in a fortress

Review 9:The hotel is a frequent venue for loud wedding parties, which in our case ended around 1 am. No parking spots under a shade of trees or buildings - parking is outside in the open road and around the hotel

Review 10:Overall setting, order, cleanliness and spacious room. Quite particular hotel in all aspects. Not far from Arbanasi, but a car is essential to get there. The hotel called me on the day of arrival to tell me that a large wedding party was taking place in the hotel (we expected it, judging from past reviews) and wanted to know if we are OK with it. For us it was not a problem at all, since we arrived well past midnight, when the wedding was over, but it could be a huge issue with other guests.

Review 11:I chose to stay for two days on each of which a gipsy wedding had been booked. The noise was deafening but that was my bad luck, thye hotel has to make money.

Review 12:The location and accommodation are perfect

Review 13:If I was picky, the party (school prom) was loud and went on quite late. BUT we were warned about it and it doesn't bother us much. We were warned about an event the night before too, but when we returned to the hotel at around 22.30 it was empty, and they weren't too keen on serving a 'night cap' - if we'd have known, we'd have stayed out later.

Review 14:Staying in a castle. The bedroom. The breakfast. The staff were great. The ambience of the place - it felt like a real old castle.

Review 15:Distance from other placew of intrest. And trouble parking in v.t. Meant we only drove around as tow signs everywhere ane was not worth the risk of parking. Views and scenery amazing tho

Review 16:The hotel was plesant as were the staff. Most spoke English also. As it is a distance from local venues, if you are driving you can not have a drink though. Or you are tied to the hotel and grounds. Wich after half a day can bore you emensly. No shows available as advertised so check first.we booked and paid for 2 nights but left during the second day. Mainly due to lack of things to keep us occupied. All in all a pleasanT new build hotel and nice staff. Increase food prices due to distance from other options

Review 17:- the wifi couldn't be accessed in perfect condition from every room

Review 18:- big rooms with a lot of space, wonderfull decorated - the restaurant was also wide and beautiful - frendly and helpfull stuff - the surrounding garden was nice - the general fortress look it's a big plus

Review 19:Within our entire stay (4 nights) nobody visited our roo, even to pick the garbage. You have to notice the restaurant staff if you want to pay by card because if they are printing note for cache you cannot pay by card anymore. We had to go to an ATM to Veliko Tarnovo (Arbanasi has no ATM) to have some cash to pay the evening before dinner. If there is an event in the restaurant (we found a wedding there) the noise is going up to rooms. But, the wedding finished at about 8:00PM, so there was no problem for us. We are usualy read in the evening in bed and we miss a reading light near to this. The light in room was poor enough to read a book in bed.

Review 20:Very friendly and helpfull staff. Fair English, enugh to solve any issue. It is 3 min. away from Arbanasi and therefore is a very quiet place. There were no many clients at the moment of our trip so very, very quiet. 15 min by car from Veliko Tarnovo, where you can visit Tsarevets or have a nice meal in the old town. Clean room and restaurant. Heating system is very good.

Review 21:Issues paying by card and it would have been good not to have had the place to ourselves mid September

Review 22:Excellent remote location and very good value. Staff very attentive and help full even though it was low season and we were the only guests apart from a children's birthday party and a coach of Japanese tourists who stopped for lunch. Jacuzzi was a bonus!

Review 23:The staff virtually ignored us and served us cold food, asked for a cup of coffee the next day and was told 5 mins, and 25 mins later when we had to leave for an appointment found her sitting having a coffee. All sort of acceptable if they where busy but i saw approx 10 staff and just 8 guests. What a shame!!!!

Review 24:The building and location was out of this world, loved it.

Review 25:- The staff was unfriendly - The projector light outside our window was turned on all night (why?) - The room above was rentet out by the hour (they use it only for few hours during the night) - Very noisy

Review 26:- The first impression (and then it´s downhill)

Review 27:Nice interesting hotel

Review 28:Staff always was helpful, very polite and friendly. Food was exellent.

Review 29:The hotel is nice, the restaurant as well.

Review 30:We liked everything, there was nothing not to like. All I can say is WOW.

Review 31:It has a very big restaurant where is an event almost every day (weekends and holidays), which means a lot of noise.

Review 32:The hotel has a very nice shape - it looks very much as a castle. Very nice terrace. The location is very quiet.

Review 33:Extra charge for a bed, it is customery but our 6 year old climbed in with us anyway!! The shower cubicle leaked maybe the seal was not completely water tight, but as a VIP room it was'nt something to expect, for a non smoker like ourselves the hall became pretty hard to bear on the saturday night, having paid 10 lev each for the entertainment and reservation we ended up moving tables to escape the cloud of smoke not from the bbq just the smokers!! But this is not the fault of the hotel.

Review 34:on arrival you get a wow factor with the amazing appearance of the hotel, the grand entrance guilded thrones in the hall over the draw bridge then the main hall is huge, the recieptionist named Lilly is awsome and deserves credit for her enthusistic approach, bags of energy, smiles and feel good factor, the staff are all hard working, I stayed in the VIP room we got value for our money and a night to remember, I would recommend that you try a weekend night away here if you can?

Review 35:For the price, the hotel rooms are decent value, but only just. Definitely a "budget" feel, even with the superior room.

Review 36:Great functional space!!! If you wanted to have a hall/restaurant for a party or event, this would be a great place to have it. Plus, the staff responded well to the two minor problems we had. Mashrutka stops just out front with easy access to B. Tarnovo and Arbanasi (which is also a short walk away).

Review 37:The location is difficult to find , if you rely on GPS - you will be disappointed , it is not registered.

Review 38:Design of the hotel , outdoor restaurant , quality of the food and friendly service all at a fair price .

Review 39:2 out of 3 nights being kept awake by the exceptionally loud vibrating music, on the 3rd night this went on until 5:30am. The party for students, who roamed the corridor until 5:30am making loud noise, resulting in absolutely no sleep.

Review 40:The food was good The staff were polite and helpful

Review 41:This trip was a present for my parents. They enjoyed their stay very much. According to them the stuff was lovely. The restaurant was very nice. The manager was very helpful while I was trying to arrange the payment.

Review 42:The fact that we were knocked at the door for the check out at 12 am sharp on the 1st of January, even if we already paid for the most expensive room. A 15 min tolerance would have been much appreciated. Also, a leak on the bathroom's floor after checking in was never really solved.

Review 43:The jacuzzi in the bathroom. The king size bed and the huge superior deluxe room.

Review 44:Limited options of the breakfast.

Review 45:The location is very nice.

Review 46:Menu prices are not updated. You order something and in the end the bill found to have different price

Review 47:Girl at reception got us waiting for 2 hours because there were no available rooms.

Review 48:Nice location and scenery, large rooms with comfortable beds.

Review 49:В ресторанта се пушеше, дори по време на закуската, не само вечерта!

Review 50:The sound of the air conditioning unit

Review 51:Excellent and friendly staff. Comfortable beds and lots of hot water. English breakfast excellent.

Review 52:breakfast

Review 53:A big restaurant with life music
