Reviews for Carriage House Inn
Review 1:One room hot, other room cold (old house in winter!), beds on the soft side.
Review 2:Innkeeper was great, two very comfortable reading chairs and an excellent breakfast
Review 3:Staff we encountered whilst pleasant were not particularly enthusiastic. Found the furnishings and furniture in our room to be old as opposed antique.
Review 4:Low cost Inn a few yards from downtown.
Review 5:I especially like historic inns for a bed and breakfast and the house was wonderful. The staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was delicious.
Review 6:The property is rundown. The shower was extremely small (impossible to bend down and pick up a bar of soap). Toilet was dirty.
Review 7:Location was good. Breakfast was good.
Review 8:For three days I had no bathmat; bed was unmade one day. Wallpaper was peeling in several places.
Review 9:Air conditioning! it was in the high 30s and humid every day. Breakfast was good - lots to choose from. Lovely heritage building.
Review 10:Didn't like the little window AC, it never stopped running. The vigilant little dog is a light sleeper
Review 11:Pleasant, professionally run inn; looks and smells nice. Breakfast totally dee-luxe. Nice walk to town.
Review 12:This was a gem of a find: a beautiful, well-maintained and elegant home, with a lovely drawing-room/breakfast area, with delicious breakfast. Excellent location, close to the river and to downtown, but in a quiet neighbourhood.
Review 13:Sheets were nasty, sort of a retro blend of materials. The breakfast was subpar, with cheap ingredients.
Review 14:Great building. The inn keepers were very nice.
Review 15:We had a very tiny stand up shower...my elbows kept hitting the shower walls as I washed my hair. Our room was situated at the front of the B&B and there was quite a bit of overnight traffic that could be heard in our room. Heard church bells ringing at 5:45am.
Review 16:The breakfast was made to order and delicious. Location..a two minute walk from downtown.. Homey.
Review 17:there were not very many outlets in our room on the 3rd floor and as a result a number of power strips had been utilized .... We were a little concerned that the outlets might have been overloaded particularly because there was an air conditioner in the mix.
Review 18:our waitress at breakfast was wonderful and the house is very old and elegant
Review 19:The location, with its ample parking and nearby walking trail, means you are near enough to restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions that you can walk, but far enough removed from the noise of downtown to be relaxed. The breakfast options are excellent and accommodate most appetites and tastes. And the staff are very helpful.
Review 20:Nothing.
Review 21:The house is beautiful, can't stop taking pictures of it! Breakfast is great. Our car ran out of battery when we were about to leave, the staff Jeremy was very patient in helping us and accompanying us until roadside assistance came.
Review 22:Bathroom needs upgrading
Review 23:Location: quiet residential neighbourhood yet close to historic centre and pedestrian bridge across Saint John River. Appearance of historic building. Great a la carte breakfast.
Review 24:arrived for breakfast at 9:10 only to discover breakfast finished at 9 - I should have paid more attention...............
Review 25:the history associated with the hotel and the city. Great access to the trails and bridge across the river. Loved our visits to the legislature and the Beaverbrook Gallery.
Review 26:Could have used an extra power outlet for our electronic devices. There were only two and they were taken. But then again that is to be expected in old houses. I would suggest they get alarm clocks with usb charging stations.
Review 27:The house itself was real nice, unrestored victorian mansion with all its charm. The room and bathroom were clean. Air conditioning was functionnal. The staff was friendly and even offered coffee for the road. We did not have breakfast there as we wanted to go to the market early (close enough to walk). They did however offer to accomodate my wife's needs for a gluten free breakfast. Location is great.
Review 28:The heat vent in the bathroom was at eye level and it was discus tingly dirty. We kept our towels but the sink wasn't cleaned. The sheets were too big for the bed and kept coming off on the night. They didn't feel crisp and clean.
Review 29:The staff were sweet and very helpful. We had a cousin join us for breakfast and felt the $10 was fair. Six of us were there for a family birthday so it was very convenient.
Review 30:The room was very small and stuffy, there was no air circulation at all!. The water tap in the bathroom was not working properly. The staff was not able to give clear directions, I ended up taking a cab ride and later on realized that the place I needed was within 5 min walk on the trail.
Review 31:Staff is friendly and accommodating. Excellent location of the property - 5 min walk from marathon start and finish!
Review 32:The location is ideal .Ten minutes walk from the center of fredericton. A quiet road with plenty of off road parking. The building is full of history and remains much asit was. The staff were really friendly and provided a great service . I'll definitely go back .
Review 33:For the price of over $150.00 I never imagined I would have to walk across the main hall to take a shower and use the washroom. I could hear anyone walk by the bathroom door. As a single woman it was quite uncomfortable. The bathtub drain was clogged and I had water covering my ankles during the shower. But the I let the innkeeper know in the morning and she appreciated it.
Review 34:Room was beautiful and huge. Bed was comfortable. Staff were excellent especially the breakfast staff. Breakfast was perfect. Very, very clean. Quiet area. Overall it was great except the bathroom situation.
Review 35:No coffee facilities in room. Staff would make coffee if requested, but not after 9pm. WiFi reception poor. We had two flights of stairs to carry bags up.
Review 36:Well-kept large guest house, comfortable room, reasonable cooked breakfast. Staff very helpful.
Review 37:pillows were poorly supportive mattress ditto sheets old and very soft from washings breakfast menu always the same, several choices but unchanging
Review 38:staff friendly helpful and courteous location close to downtown and the market, lots of parking, building kept secure, food was good
Review 39:We arrived early so we requested some recommendations in the area and if we could use the bathroom and we didn't seem well received for either of these things
Review 40:Nothing significant to dislike.
Review 41:Beautiful house with lovely rooms in a very quiet residential area, yet only 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. The staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants & the superb Farmers' Market on Saturdays! Good value for money & would certainly recommend to anyone staying in Fredericton.
Review 42:Breakfast needs a little variety, which is only evident if you are staying more than one night. Menu is the same every day. The eggs are very good, but change it up a bit. Especially noticeable is the lack of fresh fruit.
Review 43:Friendly service
Review 44:The room we were in on the third floor had only one window which was small. I like to see out of rooms I stay in.
Review 45:A nice house, good food, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 46:Cheap updates in bathrooms and bedrooms cheap dollar store waste baskets in Victorian style rooms Some of the newer furnishings do not suit the style of the inn
Review 47:historic home nice location close to river and downtown nice hot breakfast
Review 48:My only concern was the wiring in our room. One lamp did not work and you had to plug it in your self into a extension cord. We felt that the lamp should be replaced and no extension cord used. Even a safety power bar would have been suitable.
Review 49:It was my first visit to that area of Nb. And I am very glad I stayed there. All of the houses fit right in with the atmosphere of the Carriage House.
Review 50:the bed needed a newer mattress, preferably firm and not pillow top no vent in the bathroom for the shower, no counter space
Review 51:the ambiance the decor the location the staff the food the room the porch
Review 52:Some minor, but noticeable, problems need attention. The wallpaper in our bedroom was peeling along the seems. The entry door to the bedroom had a door knob that was non-functional, although there was a functioning dead bolt to secure the room.
Review 53:Overall, the facility hints at past luxury. The owner and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 54:The ambiance of this old house is superb and Ben does a great job for such a young host. He was very helpful with regard to places to see. The room was excellent and the breakfast was very good. We would definitely come back here again in the future.
Review 55:The room although quite well dressed and with a comfortable bed was showing signs of wear, particularly around the windows and with broken blinds. The air conditioning was very noisy and the ceiling fan wobbled badly.
Review 56:The Inn was conveniently located for local restaurants and riverside walk. The breakfast was nice. The house was a nice example of period architecture.
Review 57:A little tacky - Walmart photos to historical prints and everything else in between. Decor is needing some TLC - confused decorating - modern to classic.
Review 58:Building architecture is stunning!! Breakfast was very good. Air Conditioning was a plus.
Review 59:walking past all those lovely, stately rooms and realizing I was off to a small room in the attic, it felt like a bit of a bait and switch because I don't recall seeing any pictures of those rooms on the web. It was busy when I arrived but no invitation was made to switch to a nicer room when there was availability. I would expect better when you are in for 3 nights.
Review 60:great town, great location, wonderful old building with lots of character and history. Friendly staff, good breakfast.
Review 61:Overall excellent, but our room was a little too warm.
Review 62:Great location and very pleasant Victorian ambience. Staff were extremely helpful. Excellent breakfast.
Review 63:Brealfast quality was good but too simple
Review 64:Na
Review 65:The place is old and tired. Our room had wallpaper peeling off the walls all over the place.
Review 66:Breakfast was good.
Review 67:The bathrooms were fair. We would have appreciated upgraded showers.
Review 68:Beautiful home with lots of character.
Review 69:Place was charming and comfortable
Review 70:The air conditioner is very noisy, And the room smells a cigarrette.

Review 78:Jerome was VERY patient and helpful and location is fabulous. Also liked the privacy. I actually am recommending it to many friends! Thank you!
Review 79:Excellent location convenient for downtown sights and restaurants and for the lovely riverfront walking path.
Review 80:Too hot to sleep, windows would not open, climatisation was too noisy
Review 81:Location, Ambiance
Review 82:Host wasn't very friendly.
Review 83:Breakfast was very good and complimentary.
Review 84:The shower was a bit small.
Review 85:Out off the city centre but only a short walk to get there. Excellent choice of breakfast items. Good parking.
Review 86:Lots of usable lounging areas outside of your room; good wi-fi, location and big character room.
Review 87:A bit run down compared to other 's in the area/region. Poorly maintained.
Review 88:Location
Review 89:Wifi was a bit sketchy from our room.
Review 90:The proprietors were really beautiful people! Friendly, yet professional!
Review 91:It was really good.
Review 92:Liked it all. Location, the bones of the inn and, of course, the hot breakfast. Great value
Review 93:Bed was old and soft.
Review 94:Almost nothing i m not satisfied. every thing is pretty well
Review 95:the breakfast is pretty good, and environment is nice & clean. everything is good.
Review 96:Location to downtown. Friendliness.
Review 97:No negatives here
Review 98:Have stayed there many times over decades and a great place, beautiful home, people and location
Review 99:Insufficient ventilation.
Review 100:Great hosts, friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and quite. The location was great, lovely old homes, walking distance to downtown.
Review 101:The bed wasn't very comfortable and the shower water was boiling hot and hard to regulate.
Review 102:The building was amazing and very historic. The room we had was a bit tired and had no visible means of heating .
Review 103:The young couple who ran the inn were very friendly and helpful with services available and direction inquiries. The food and rooms were excellent. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 104:facilities is a bit old, can benefit from minor renovations can have stronger wifi for dinning room and for the deck
Review 105:location and price wifi friendly staff quite and comfortable breakfast, to make sure you are well fed before the start of a busy day lovely sundeck
Review 106:Very limited time for breakfast service, just one hour. Also very early 7:30 to 8:30....no sleeping in if you want a meal. Walkway's up to the front door were not well cleared of snow and ice, made coming and going a bit treacherous.
Review 107:Easy to locate and close to downtown. Beautiful historic home, staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 108:No tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but it wasn't the end of the world, in fact they certainly make up for it at breakfast!
Review 109:Comfy,cozy, friendly B and B!
Review 110:Thread bare sheets, metal shower stall needs updating.
Review 111:Friendly staff, felt welcome, nice sitting room and breakfast room open to guests, character home, tasty breakfast cooked to order.
Review 112:Hard to come up with things I didn't like, but I guess I could say I found the shower stall to be too small!!
Review 113:Ben is a wonderful host, and the breakfast was amazing!!!
Review 114:Location of the third floor room. Little light and dark, somewhat cramped quarters. Only one uncomfortable chair, although bed was comfortable. We were probably in the servants quarters but it was a deluxe room.
Review 115:Bruce was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast and the furnishings in the parlor and dining room. The Victorian home was furnished superbly to give you a real feeling that you were back in history.
Review 116:The room was small for the price compared to a country Inn, perhaps because of its urban location.
Review 117:This Inn has character, history and charm. Although it is very close to downtown Fredericton it is quiet. It is within easy walking distance of galleries and shopping as well as lovely pathways along the river.
Review 118:Third floor room was a challenge for us seniors. Would recommend having the air conditioner on about 1/2 hour before check in when the weather required A/C.
Review 119:Staff was helpful.
Review 120:No central air, we were on the top floor during 90+ degree weather. The room did have an air conditioner. Breakfast was below par - same no frills options both days (eggs, ham, bacon, french toast & yogurt.) Nothing much to do in the downtown - really quiet area. Not enough seating on the porch & smoking was allowed on the porch.
Review 121:Sitting on the porch & location of the house to the downtown area restaurants.
Review 122:There was no elevator and we were on the third floor and my husband has had a stroke and has a problem climbing that many stirs and lugging his suitcase.
Review 123:Rose, the hostess went out of her way to make us welcome. It was easy walking distance , on a wonderful trail, and the town is interesting and has a wide variety of things to see and do. Breakfast was super!!!
Review 124:Very 'hands-off' after breakfast hour; would have liked tea/coffee/snack available in evening; some messages did not get through to me
Review 125:Lots of character; historic building; quiet; very friendly staff
Review 126:The room we had, needed a little cosmetic surgery i.e. the wall paper was coming off the walls in a few area's.
Review 127:Location was excellent, beautiful property. The lady who looked after us was very friendly.
