Reviews for Hotel Isla Rey Jorge

Review 1:The reception desk insisted on keeping my passport when I checked it. After explaining further, they made concession and offered to photocopy it right away and return it to me before I got to my room. I guess that is a matter of cultural difference and language barrier.

Review 2:I like the honesty of the staff who kept my forgotten hat during breakfast and unwanted clean bag left in my room and transferred both to the reception desk for redeeming. The staff were also friendly and helpful overall in volunteering to book a taxi the night before and quick in getting the cutlery and hot water required for tea making in the lounge.

Review 3:I was traveling with my son. We were given rooms on the first floor, right off the entry and check-in desk. The rooms were noisy.

Review 4:The location was convenient and the hotel was clean.

Review 5:Location less interesting, although it can access to the main touristic street by walk 5-10 minutes.

Review 6:Reasonable price for one room with 3 beds for 2 adults + 1 kid + 1 infant.

Review 7:This is a somewhat shabby and rundown hotel. The shelving in bedroom was probably made by a 10 year old student. Musty smell in bedrooms, beds soft and saggy. Breakfast room in in basement and dull. Bearing in mind cost of other hotels in town then you get what you pay for

Review 8:Staff were friendly, position is good, just off the central square. Bathroom good

Review 9:Not a bad experience, and not the hotel's fault, but the city is digging deep trenches for pipes in the street along the front of the building, and it can get a bit loud during the day.

Review 10:Beautiful old stone building, perhaps a mansion once. Very tasteful, comfortable, clean, newly refurbished. Just a block or so from the central square.

Review 11:We were happy with helpful staff. They booked nice taxi for us and gave early breakfast. Would like tp stay more cause it's nice location as we know

Review 12:We were a little disapointed that the advertised bar and farmers restaurant were not open.

Review 13:Breakfast was good. Rooms were clean. It was a fairly quiet area being a block away from the main square where we have stayed in the past and were kept awake by vehicle noise.

Review 14:Grossly overpriced for what it is. Clearly just a run-down old hotel that stays alive due to old photos and old reputation

Review 15:Breakfast had the usual reasonable selection: toast, jam, eggs, tea, coffee. 24h concierge was a plus.

Review 16:The room faced the street; with the window open the street noise was quite loud at times.

Review 17:Room and bath were very clean and comfortable. The sun room/lobby was very comfortable and inviting. Staff were very helpful.

Review 18:1) the bathroom was in a terrible condition, the shower didn't work well, the bathtub had a crack that oozed water, a smell wafted up that was not good 2) the room was dirty 3) the closet doors didn't work 4) the whole aspect of the hotel is of being run down 5) some of the staff was very nice, but there was a woman on night duty who was very, very rude and impatient. An extremely disagreable person.

Review 19:Staying in a turn of the century building has its positives and negatives. The buildings exterior needs TLC. The bathroom in room 408 is small and the faucets difficult to operate. The water from the shower head poured out like a water fall (no spray). The step up into the bathtub is very high and the tub is narrow with curved sides making it difficult to get into. This actually caused me to slip twice, luckily without injuries. I am 54 years old and in pretty good shape. This room is not for the elderly.

Review 20:Location within walking distance to city center. Only 1 block from town square. Taxi available in front of hotel. Hotel has kept it's historical ambiance. Staff very nice and helpful.

Review 21:The hotel is not on the most attractive block but within a half block of a lovely street.

Review 22:The rooms were homey, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is walking distance to the main square and has a casual charm.

Review 23:Too old with no renovations. Old beds. Windows did not close 100% and you can imagine the cold wind entering to your room. They moved us to another room after fighting for a solution. No discounts for the inconvenience.

Review 24:Staff

Review 25:- we had a room next to the reception and heard a lot of noise from people arriving and chatting at the reception desk until late in the evening (after 24.00 o clock). - The breakfast was served in a not-attractive room (this hotel must have better locations to serve its breakfast in)

Review 26:- The room was large and clean - Hotel is situated in a very nice historical building - Hotel is close by a nice plaza

Review 27:only 3 parking spots (maybe 5 if you use the pedestrian side walk); on the ground floor you may hear some traffic noise;

Review 28:we stayed twice there; it is one of the old stone houses of Punta Arenas; the interior is of fine quality and shows good taste in the details; many friendly staff working there; breakfast buffet typical Chilean (you can ask for scrambled eggs; no fruits);

Review 29:When you flushed the toilet there was a sewer-like smell. Seemingly ancient plumbing (it's an early 1900s building) Over heated bedroom initially, but the radiator could be turned down Wi-fi didn't work most of the time Hotel's entrance door closed at night and no doorbell, which isn't very nice when the night clerk is somewhere else and you are becoming a popsicle outside!

Review 30:Great location, friendly staff, very comfortable bedroom, would stay there again

Review 53:The staff could not speak Englush. Very busy noisy street.

Review 58:The "welcom" and the assistance to manage our journey

Review 59:Old dated room. Window lock broken - security issue. No AC. Just heating. 2 star/motel level facilities and amenities.

Review 60:Staff very helpful.

Review 61:Staff have very limited English, except for the manager who was helpful.

Review 62:A hotel with some character. The arranged for an early breakfast on request

Review 63:Advertised as free parking but only 3 spaces. So you get blocked in by others

Review 64:Location Price

Review 65:The staff were very helpful and it's close to restaurants. Also in a safe area.

Review 66:Clean and close to downtown, port, casino and parks. It is a small hotel built in 1919 and kept to high standards. Wondeful staff and very good breakfast.

Review 67:This small hotel in a large old house is located only steps away from the main square of Punta Arenas. Our room, although on the smallish side, was more than adequate for an overnight stay and the en suite bathroom was clean. Breakfast was minimalist but served the purpose. The staff was helpful in getting us a taxi in the morning. Overall, a reasonable, relatively inexpensive hotel, for a short stay.

Review 68:Nothing really. A bit disappointment was that. the staff didn't speak English which made it hard to communicate

Review 69:Location is great, parking was available. Breakfast was delicious, it was very warm in the room. wifi worked well and they kept our bags for the day

Review 70:The hotel facilities including the rooms are old and badly in need of replacement. The carpet in the room is stained, the room is dark, paint is peeling off.

Review 71:Good location

Review 72:Wifi was temperamental and went in and out. Only good for checking email.

Review 73:Very good value, great location and very nice breakfast. Wifi was temperamental , went in and out. Prioprieter was very nice about meal recommendations and calling a taxi for the airport.

Review 74:Cost versus facilities. To describe it as a four star is a bit of a stretch

Review 75:Ideally positioned for town and was clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

Review 76:Poor breakfast management;

Review 77:Nice lobbies; elevator

Review 78:Little bit noisy for other guests in the early morning since the wall is a bit thin.

Review 86:We like the small nature of this hotel. Some of the staff doesn't speak very good English but it didn't matter. They were great.

Review 87:lack of catering

Review 88:Location, welcoming and helpful staff, quiet, lack of fuss
