Reviews for Hotel Dreams del Estrecho
Review 1:Not tight window so that the wind entered inside, too hot heating that turned on in the middle of the night.
Review 2:Great breakfast, excellent hotel, very clean and comfortable.
Review 3:- My room is not facing the seaview - The staff in Skybar not very welcoming, and it takes long to take order. Avoid the food and just order beer for the view.
Review 4:- Excellent location by the sea - Most staffs very accomodating in booking day trips in PA - Excellent buffet with wide choices (even Champagne for breakfast)
Review 5:Smell of the room, the dated carpet, the telephones themselves, using the telephone (the calls to places in the hotel goto a call center in another city and TWICE we ordered room service and it never arrived, in fact it was ordered at another hotel!!), the key cards (we had to get them reset every single days), the sheets, no wash cloths or tissues, temperature control (not adjustable),
Review 6:The bathroom, the casino, Adrianna (front desk staffer), the view
Review 7:Modern building with the main purpose to host a casino. So it is a little soul-less (and weird in the lobby).
Review 8:Rooms and beds are very comfortable. Free parking on-site. Large fitness center and swimming pool.
Review 9:Staff were arrogant and proffered to stand around chatting and looking at their mobile phones rather than attend to customers. I loathe this attitude! Also I asked for an iron and ironing board to press a shirt for a meeting and they told me it was against security policy! Nonsense. As a businessman I won't be staying there again.
Review 10:Clean and tidy and good location
Review 11:Most Dream Hotels use some kind of "environmental deodorizer" which smells unpleasant and produces headaches; this one is no exception.
Review 12:Very soft beds, great view of the "estrecho de Magallanes", location close to downtown.
Review 13:It is still pricey nonetheless.
Review 14:Extremely swanky digs compared to most of Patagonia...and the price may be high, but is cheaper than what you would pay in the States for a place like this. Good place to relax in extreme comfort after some big trekking.
Review 15:The room was too hot (27C) and despite an engineer visiting , the problem was not resolved.
Review 16:Great location and wonderful views especially from the sky bar.
Review 17:Room was stifling and no way to turn down heating. Television didn't work and wifi was really really slow. Breakfast was typically "chain hotel" material. Receptions staff were obviously a bit bored........
Review 18:Good sized room - very comfortable. Good location too.
Review 19:clock/ ccharger was damaged, after complaint not exchanged, windows would not stay open, no description of TV or channels, corners in shower and toilet moldy, no description of how to use the thermostat, no possibility to make hot water for a tea or coffee
Review 20:Location, pool area, breakfast, size of room, good bed
Review 21:Unfortunately, the build quality of this hotel is awful. Walls are paper thin; I could hear everything being said in the room next to mine. The windows were broken too. There was a reception on the patio below that kept me awake. Everything felt fake. Looks nice, but bad quality - particularly the breakfast.
Review 22:This is a casino hotel. It's in a great location with easy walking access to the the best stops in Punta Arenas.
Review 23:Unfortunately while we worked out a late check out arrangement and I was paying for the extended hrs, I was told on the day itself and given about 45 mins to pack up and leave the room. They did offer to let me use the pool area till my flight time but it was not the most pleasant as it is very hot if you are not soaking yourself in the pool.
Review 24:The room was great and the sky bar offers an excellent view of the city. 24 hrs room service was helpful too.
Review 25:This hotel is well situated. The casino is a little sad compared to the Dreams in Puerto Varas but overall it's a good hotel with friendly and efficient staff. There is also a lovely cafe in the lobby.
Review 26:Breakfast - but everywhere in Chile breakfast was limited.
Review 27:This is a very fine hotel, maybe the best in town. Close to everything, modern and friendly.
Review 28:The view. The view. The view. The most comfortable "away from home" bed ever. Breakfast was great, including champagne on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Review 29:A short walk to town, limited number of staff spoke fluent English - only a problem with more complicated issues
Review 30:Floor to ceiling windows with fantastic views over the water, great b'fast, very comfortable large room (we were upgraded to a suite), quiet
Review 31:Room temp was on 27 degrees and was not easy to adjust, when I asked the staff at reception they were unhelpful. No instructions anywhere. Breakfast was TERRIBLE! Wanted to have a drink at the Skybar but they weren't open at the advertised time of 6pm, went back at 6:30....still weren't open. There was a terribly unpleasant rotten egg smell in the hallway of our floor, at least twice during our overnight stay. Paper thin walls, could hear tv next door and people in hallway.
Review 32:Room size, bathroom layout, view
Review 33:The air conditioner in room 808 could not get the temperature below 80 degrees F. Staff was responsive to our issue but could not resolve the temperature problem. Offered another room, but it was street side and street noise was an issue so decided we could better live with the hot room rather than the street noise. We had a room temperature issue previously with another room.
Review 34:Nice location and facility
Review 35:Staff at front desk spoke very very very little English, staff did not disclose that AC was broken to us---we slept in 29 degrees C/84 degrees F all night because of this. When we called the front desk they denied knowledge. When we mentioned it on check out the customer service rep disclosed that the AC has been broken for quite some time, perhaps months. We would suggest being honest with the guests at check in, and perhaps offering a fan if they still choose to stay. Also our flight prior to the offered breakfast so we arranged to have wake up call at which time we would order our included breakfast. No wake up call occurred. We had tried to confirm the call the night before 3 times and no one picked up the phone at the desk. Lastly, we tried to book a massage or facial at the spa and after waiting over 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the staff at the front desk, we left. There is a huge money loss for the hotel there. We would have purchased at least 2 hours of services for 2 people. Overall I think much of the issues could have been solved with better customer service. The facilities are nice, the service is horrendous and not trained to anticipate guest needs.
Review 36:Clean room, huge comfy bed, amazing bathroom, stunning view--best view of our trip in Patagonia.
Review 37:Room far too hot, even with the airconditioning set to max the room never fell to a pleasant temperature. The bed was confortable but had an extremely thick quilt. I had to ask to change it for a blanket, which was done happily, and it improved the comfort. Staff at the desk very limited in their English. We had a big problem with the room door at the last night. Several times we had to go downstairs, they replaced the card, because they did not believe that the problem was not with the card but with the door handle. After this one of the receptionist accepted to go upstairs and deal with the problem. The first solution offered was to change to a different room, well, when you cannot access your things, especially when you are leaving the next morning at 5 am, it is not the right solution. It seems to me that they didn´t know what to do. Eventually, after 45 minutes we managed to get in. It seems they were unprepared for this type of event.
Review 38:The best is the location, fantastic view to the strait. Nice room and bathroom and very clean.
Review 39:I'm not sure the hotel fully lives up to its name -- or price. The hotel in general, our room and the spa felt quite worn, Old School and under-maintained. The spa in particular did not appear clean, either. And the casino does the hotel no favours.
Review 40:The location is excellent, the beds are very comfortable, very nice shower / bathroom design. Restaurant is decent.
Review 41:The two ATM's in the building both only allowed maximum 150,000 pesos even though it gives 200,000 option and tells you that when it kept rejecting. I realize this a bank issue, but THEY allow the bank to put them there. With ATM fees of 4,000 pesos ($6.50), they should ensure their customers can take out the maximum amount from the ATM machines!
Review 42:Friendly, helpful staff. Dining options. Facilities: nice pool, gym, spa.
Review 43:everything was perfect in the hotel, there was possibility to watch a dvd-movie in tv, breakfast was very generous. it was one of my favorite hotel, if i compare with the price.
Review 44:Room was extremely HOT No Air condition, and the room temp. was at 85 F. (28 Celcius) Window that could not keep opened because the strong winds.
Review 45:Location was great Breakfast is good! Rooms were very clean and good size
Review 46:- on saturday night loud music from the rooftop bar - we had 2 different reservations for 2 nights. We got a complementary upgrade for the first night (what was good) but mentioned it before that we would like to day in the same room, even meaning that it would be smaller than the upgraded one. In the morning it was told to us that we would have to change or pay more for the 2nd night, what was a suprise and inconvienient to us as we booked a half day trip. When we came back the issue was solved and we could stay in the room.
Review 47:- great locatiom with view on the magellan channel - breakfast
Review 48:Only the Manager spoke english so it made it difficult communicating with staff when he wasn't available. House-keeping didn't clean our room until 5pm just after we returned from the whole day out and oddly they took away all of our soap!
Review 49:Very large room, lovely view, clean and well presented, great selection at breakfast
Review 50:we made reservation before and asked for seaview, but when we arrived we got 1 room with cityview and other room was, as they sold it, an upgrade to superior... turned out is was on the 3 rd floor with view to a concrete wall and the loud noice of the airco splitunits :(. nice big room, but we had rather had a normal room on higher floor with view! (reason why we choose the hotel). music was everywhere horrible an far to loud! all in all tacky atmosphere. especially with also the casino indoors. the pool was closed. would have been nice to have told us that beforehand! when on the end of the world and not for business, book a hotel with more feel to being in Punta Arenas!
Review 51:great hotelrooms, with beautifull bathroom and excellent beds. excellent breakfast buffet, very complete. best location, great views! must ask for a room with view on Maghellan straight though!
Review 52:We made a reservation in which we were told that the credit card number was going to be used just for the reservation. We were expecting to pay for the room in chilean pesos, so we withdrew the money, but when we went to the reception desk they told us that they had already charged the credit card, which wasn't what we were told in the first place.
Review 53:Not applicable - loved the stay
Review 54:Very modern clean rooms. Breakfast was very good - abundant selection.
Review 55:The room, comfortable and modern. Breakfast plate available at 4 in the morning!
Review 56:noise isolation very poor
Review 57:Location, room size and cleanliness, pool
Review 58:The staff were super amazing. The hotel was in a great part of town and we really enjoyed our time there
Review 59:Excellent location and service!
Review 60:Staff speaks no English, no variety in breakfast
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:Rooms are spacious, comfortable. The hotel is centrally located.
Review 63:well situated, fantastic view and really helpful staff. I would stay again
Review 64:service poor
Review 65:Great room
Review 66:For a high-standard hotel should the windows more noise protected.
Review 67:Even for chilean circumstances very clean.
Review 68:Nothing
Review 69:Well designed, good view, bathroom was great, full size tub.
Review 70:Staff was not as warm and friendly as other guests reported, but may be a fluke
Review 71:Rude staff that basically ignored you with finesse.
Review 72:Good location
Review 73:Wifi
Review 74:Le confort et la situation de l'hotel
Review 75:Slow and unstable internet, staff except receptionists do not speak English
Review 76:Good location, very comfortabel and clean room.
Review 77:The light shining in the window from the pier
Review 78:Best hotel in Punta arenas
Review 79:The comfort and facilities
Review 80:Breakfast is awful... Eggs ice cold
Review 81:Casino
Review 82:Beautiful views of the water. Short walk to good restaurants and the Plaza. Enjoyed the stay!
Review 83:La señal de cable en la habitación deficiente
Review 84:Todo ubicación ,servicio ,atención .
Review 85:None
Review 86:Room, facilities, staff and attetion . I was upgraded
Review 87:nothing
Review 88:Very good room with great sea view
Review 89:The restaurant
Review 90:Confort And location
Review 91:Noisy bar and casino.
Review 92:Room was excellent, view over the water splendid, pool astonishing.
Review 93:location, very nice room
Review 94:We had some difficulty booking a taxi with the front desk.
Review 95:Our room was ver nice & clean. Great shower!
Review 96:everything was very good
Review 97:Great hotel!
Review 98:Everything! The staff was very accommodating and eager to help.
Review 99:Absolutely nothing!
Review 100:The helpful and welcoming staff, the breathtaking sea view (I asked for a sea view and was very given a wonderful room on the 8th floor), the excellent breakfast, and... everything else. This definitely was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in...
Review 101:Separate bath and shower, but the latter is a wet-room. It is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a glass door, but the slope on the floor is wrong and the bathroom flooded when we showered.Using the loo standing in a puddle was not so nice.
Review 102:Great sea view from the room. Spacious bathroom. Very nice restaurant for breakfast and good buffet.Reception staff very helpful and spoke good English. Good wi-fi speed.
Review 103:The location,it is right on the waterfront & easy to find, under ground parking good restaurant, caffe ,very nice rooms ,we had an up grade on our return journey & it was magnificent
Review 104:Casino vibe
Review 105:Great location, superb breakfast, clean, pool is really well heated and unique with views to the Straight of Magellen. Just ignore the casino in the lobby if you are not into that.
Review 106:When in Punta Arenas, this is the place to stay. It has all the facilities. Sauna, swimming pool and gym. Rooms are new, comfortable and come with a view.
Review 107:Winter visit and radiator heating nice but about heated right out ofroom. Had heat turned down as far as could and window cracked and it wasstill too hot.Wifi is very poor. If we had been visiting on business probably would be a very, very big negative. It was negative enough experience just trying to accomplish personal things within several feet (only) of lobby. In this day and time, you can and SHOULD have high intensity router. At least don't advertise you have wifi with it as weak as it is.
Review 108:View from room Proximity to airport Design of room Food
Review 109:Air conditioner didn't work Television didn't work Neither repaired despite requests, although a fan was provided on the third night to break up the suffocating heat
Review 110:Good breakfast Good views Very helpful staff
Review 111:Entrance smells like smoke. Understaffed front desk. Hot rooms, no air conditioning. Entrance fee to casino. Swim cap required for pool/spa.
Review 112:Best hotel gym. Swanky, clean rooms.
Review 113:On New Years Eve one could not eat in the restaurant, but had to book the full event.
Review 114:The location is good, and the bar situated on 11th floor, is excellent. One of the few occasions that really consider smokers :-)))
Review 115:I emailed weeks in advance for Xmas eve reservations and they didnothing in response. When got there there first sent me to a hotel thatwas closed, bad customer service, esp, from fernando
Review 116:Clean and modern. Excellent gym
Review 117:Bars were full of smoke and kids were not allowed in. Pool rules alittle stringent.
Review 118:Beautiful accommodations and great location. Breakfast was one of thebest I've had in South America. The "Chocolate Cafe" in the lobby hasgreat coffees and sandwiches for dinner on american time. Gym wasfully equipped.
Review 119:It was impossible to get reasonable WIFI, despite numerous requests to staff
Review 120:Great value, comfortable rooms and excellent location. The 4 headed shower was amazing
Review 121:Cigarette smoke in ground floor that spread up to the gym and otherparts of first floor.Smoke did not get into our room which is good but was a real negative about the hotel
Review 122:The decor is very late 70s, dark and dimly lit - though the building isbrand new. It smelled like cigarrettes even on the nonsmoking floors. And the 11th floor is a sky bar, and my room was below it on the 10thfloor, so all I could hear until 2am was booming and pounding of musicand partying. It was really upsetting. It was definitely overrated, inmy opinion.
Review 123:The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 124:No coffee or tea making facilities
Review 125:Large room, comfy bed, great bathroom. Good views from both sides of hotel
Review 126:Beautiful room with a wonderful view. Lovely warm swimming pool
Review 127:Easy to find, right on waterfront, fantastic views, good restaurant staff spoke good English
Review 128:Resturant doesn't open until 8:00 PM
Review 129:Friendly Staff
Review 130:Everybody try to make you feel welcome, and do things the way that a 5* is. I spend nice days !, and the restaurant very good food.
