Reviews for Hotel Rey Don Felipe

Review 1:We asked wrong people for information--do not ask the cleaning staff what time the breakfast ends. Fortunately the kitchen staff accommodated us even though we arrived just after they closed. Chipped paint and discolored tub grout in bathroom.

Review 2:Comfortable bed, good breakfast. Emailed ahead and very much appreciated the hotel arranging a cab driver with name sign in hand to pick us up when we arrived from Santiago in the middle of the night. You don't have to pay high rates of private company to see penguins on Isla Magdalena--reasonable Comapa ferry boat available in the afternoon--taxi to ferry port. Much better than 7am pick up after arriving in at 1:45am!

Review 3:The staff was quite surly and seemed to be offended with our poor spanish. The room had a lovely view of a noisy car park where they were doing jackhammering all day.

Review 4:We drove from the airport, it was easy to find and had on site parking. The staff were friendly and I really liked the room (comfy beds). We got the room on a special deal of 50% off so we also returned for a further 2 nights at the special rate. If we were paying full price I feel it would have been over priced but it seems the standard rate for Punta Arenas.

Review 5:Stayed on the ground floor and noise seemed to travel down the corridor

Review 6:Helpful staff, particularly as our luggage was lost, they contacted the airline for us and found our bags

Review 7:The room was against the street on the third floor and it was very loud. Additionally, I could clearly hear beds moving and other things being moved in adjacent rooms. Also when I arrived the bed had no blanket, one of the pillows had no cover, and the pillows were in disarray on the bed. It felt as-if the room had not been turned over properly.

Review 8:The staff was super helpful and friendly... Very impressed with their level of service.

Review 9:Only one robe in the cupboard was the only (minor) point!

Review 10:Was perfect for a night coming back from our W-trek. Staff were more than helpful with arranging an early breakfast and early taxi. Jacuzzi and sauna were super clean and we loved them. In-house restaurant was also great with very friendly service and reasonably priced. Great value and in a lovely old building that looks well looked after.

Review 11:We requested interconnecting rooms and 2 cots due to our young Familiy and having 1 yet old twins. I had this confirmed in an email. But on arrival we were told the rooms were on separate floors. They managed to find us next door rooms and an upgrade, but we had to wait for almost 2 hours for the cots to arrive as the housekeeping lady was not at the hotel and had the only key to the store cupboard. Not great after arriving at 7.30 pm and we were not able to put the children down in cots until almost 9.30 pm !

Review 12:Our suite was very nice. Staff friendly and attentive.

Review 13:Front desk sent us out into the cold night air with our child to find a tour company to book the Penguins trip. This is a standard trip and everyone does it, so the young staff on the front desk should be bothered and take time out from surfing the net. Overpriced.

Review 14:Beds are comfortable, good location. Free tea and coffee in the lounge, but they don't let you know about this detail. Nice hotel design.

Review 15:My wife and I are so thankful and felt fortune that we picked this hotel. Stuffs are so friendly and was the one of the most humane hotel we have ever had. They gave us the largest room , almost half of the building in the topes floor, when they know it's was our silver marriage. We lived there for the first night and last night before and after we travel to Tdp national park and felt very satisfied. Will return here again and introduce all our firends to select this hotel.

Review 16:We arrived late and there was no cot set up. It was written in special requirements but they realized they'd missed it and the keys where they are stored was not in possession of any of the staff working. We also wanted a drink on arrival as we were hungry and thirsty but even after seeing staff still in the bar they would not give us a drink. Not even a water!!

Review 17:Clean room, gym was good and hotel was lovely

Review 18:The infrastructure and facilities were ok, but I think that the disposition and the attitude of the staff were not according to a hotel of this quality.

Review 19:This advertises itself as a spa hotel with deep baths but the bath was shallow and short, there was no plug and the towels were shabby and rough. The staff were OK but a little surly and unhelpful. I felt very unwelcome. The room was noisy both from corridor noise and outside. Breakfast was poor. I wouldn't stay here again.

Review 20:the wifi was good

Review 21:The scrambled eggs at breakfast were like soup. The bathroom sinks and faucets are so designed that if one turns the water on full, it sprays up on one's shirt. The restaurant is so overstaffed that the servers get in each others' way--really a management problem.

Review 22:Nothing specific about the hotel. Central Punta Arenas is fairly empty in the evenings and there are not many places nearby which are open for dinner.

Review 23:More upmarket than my usual territory (got a good deal, especially the first time I stayed). Good facilities, as you'd expect in this category, and comfortable.

Review 24:Very expensive for what you get, bed is very soft, breakfast is very limited, dry bread, few fruits, bad coffee

Review 25:Clean, friendly staff

Review 26:Excellent

Review 27:Water in jacuzzi wasn't hot enough

Review 28:Clean room. Kind staffs. Good location.

Review 29:Noisy street in front of hotel

Review 30:Location

Review 31:Terribly overpriced regular hotel. Should be 3 stars at most.

Review 32:The price. A little expensive

Review 33:Service. Extremely kind and accommodating.

Review 34:good location, very clean, helpful front staff. nice hot tub, just what we needed to relax in after hiking in patagonia!

Review 35:Good location, in the centre.

Review 36:The staff are very friendly and helpful

Review 37:Location and cleanliness.

Review 38:We stayed here one night while transferring to Torres del Paine. We found the hotel to be comfortable with friendly staff and nice rooms.

Review 39:they don't have excursions from hotel((

Review 40:Room was fishy smelling. So much so that it woke me up at night.

Review 41:Nice location

Review 42:Everything was perfect

Review 43:Hot food at breakfast is marginal. Standard runny scrambled eggs and very fat bacon. Avoid rooms that face the street.

Review 44:Nothing outstanding

Review 45:Excellent services Convenient location

Review 46:The ambience

Review 47:Hotel seems like they could use an update in the rooms.

Review 48:All staff are very helpfully and any problem they tray to help so you fill very good for the professional way to do things

Review 49:Heating in the room too high at first.

Review 50:Nice breakfast buffet. Good location for downtown Punta Arenas. Really helpful staff.

Review 51:Lack of drawers

Review 52:Nice ammenities

Review 53:No nice views

Review 54:Cosy environments Clean and new Great decoration Close to center

Review 55:Maybe a little tired decor but still fine.

Review 56:Good facilities. Staff were excellent.

Review 57:Nothing!!

Review 58:The staff were very helpful and informative, helping us find souvenir shops that sold authentic handicrafts etc...Also the breakfast was outstanding!!!!

Review 59:The people of Hotel Rey Don Felipe, especially Fabiola and Carla at reception, are very helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel is well located being only a short walk to Plaza Munoz Gamero. Our room was very comfortable; the buffet style breakfast (included in the cost of our room) was more than sufficient to get us off to a good start each day.

Review 60:The hotel has a homely feel, while maintaining all standards you would expect from a 4-star establishment. Pleasant interior design with many wooden elements. Rich breakfast buffet. The staff make all guests feel welcome, from business travelers to back-packers en route to Torres del Paine.

Review 61:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to leave the hotel earlier than the scheduled breakfast times both days we stayed here and they were able to arrange for a packed breakfast, which we really appreciated. The hotel is located centrally.

Review 62:travelling support (prior to the trip I asked whther they arrange bus tickets, they confirmed, we booked, on arrival no tickets and no willingness to resolve the issue)

Review 63:comfortable rooms and beds cleaniness take away breakfast (we had early bus)

Review 64:Excellent hotel with a nice location just about 3-5 min walk to center. The whole personnel is very nice and really try to make you feel welcomed and to help you (with directions, booking tours, calling taxis, arranging transfers, etc). The room is rather large, with heating (you need it even in the summer) and hot water, and a big and comfy bed. Wireless works great and breakfast is very good and of a good quality. Really an outstanding hotel.

Review 65:Not knowing Punta Arenas very well, the town seemed a bit run-down and the location did not seem very ideal, and definitely not scenic. There wasn't much going in around the hotel at all that made either of us want to explore the city much.

Review 66:It was convenient having parking at the hotel. There was a business center and the food was quite good at the restaurant.

Review 67:- Rooms on the "first" floor don't have much of a view.- It took ages (around 5 minutes) for the shower to move from lukewarm to hot water. - Had some trouble with the keycards; staff should at least once demonstrate how to use them (the trick is to put them in and out of the reader very quickly).

Review 68:- Good price (found a good offer through booking :-))- Clean and modern, extensive breakfast. - Friendly staff (I could already check in at 12am :-)) - Good temperature (warm!) in the rooms. - Staff was very helpful when I wanted to rent a bike (in winter) and even opened up their storage room to get me one.

Review 69:Very rigid on timing. Check in is exactly at 3pm, no sooner. Wearrived at 2pm and had to leave our bags in a closet until 3 eventhough the room was ready. Breakfast is at 7am regardless if you haveto leaves at 6:30am to get to the airport. A little more flexibilitywould go a long way.

Review 70:Close walk to Plaza de Armas and not much further to coast. Plenty ofparking. Staff was friendly.

Review 71:It was hot in the hotel and the room even with the radiatory turned off. breakfast was average but the people were very nice in the breakfast area

Review 72:We liked the location and the staff was wonderful. A little dated but definitely good value for our money.

Review 73:I stayed there 2 nights, on my way down to Torres del Paines and on myreturn from there. The first night I booked a standard room but on thereturn there were no standard rooms available so I booked a superiorroom. The only difference in the 2 rooms was that the superior had 2double beds as opposed to 2 single beds so unless you need double bedsit is not worth the $77 extra for the room.

Review 74:Staff were very friendly and helpful Breakfast was quite good ascompared to the typical included buffet style breakfasts I have had atsimilar hotels Bed was very comfortable

Review 75:Considering what's on offer in Punta Arenas, I suppose this was the best value for money. It met all my basic requirements. Walking distance to everything.

Review 76:The only improvement would be if they could move the hotel so that it was right on the plaza or the waterfront!

Review 77:The furnishings and interior design are clean, modern and tasteful. It was a very comfortable and welcoming environment.

Review 78:The towels were hard. There was no enough room for the breakfast and itdidn't have chocolate for milk, when I asked some for my child theysaid we could eat only what had in the buffet.

Review 79:The room was comfortable and the staff nice.

Review 80:Restaurant service: food not exceptional and quite careless staff. The service need to be improved

Review 81:Nice and well-finished hotel. Comfy rooms and very good location. Helpful reception staff.

Review 82:Bathroom with no window and extractor was not working.

Review 83:The decoration.

Review 84:Nothing.

Review 85:Good location. Good breakfast. Good rooms and beds.

Review 86:Nothing

Review 87:Good location. Good food. Friendly staff. Value for money

Review 88:Value for money and near to everything. The staff were all very helpful.

Review 89:Room was a little small, but adequate.

Review 90:Staff were knowledgable, friendly, and spoke English. Facilities were neat and clean. Restaurant was excellent.

Review 91:The price is a little bit expensive.

Review 92:Breakfast, wifi access, shower, hotel bar

Review 93:Breakfast wasn't anything to get excited about.

Review 94:The location was handy to the town centre and the free wi-fi and off street parking was also good

Review 95:it's too expensive for what they give, it's more like a three stars hotel.

Review 96:good room and breakfast

Review 97:great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

Review 98:Perfect posit, in the center, professional staff, good breakfast.

Review 99:Restaurant was a little overpriced for quantity.

Review 100:Staff very helpful. Pretty centrally located.

Review 101:Terrible breakfast. A bit far from the center. Lack of a good view from any room. Uncomfy bathroom.

Review 102:Spacious rooms.

Review 103:Breakfast is not the best...

Review 104:Cleanliness and staff kindness

Review 105:Good hotel, nice and kind personnel, despite our stay was very short and in non business hours.

Review 106:Simply to expensive for what it offers. Staff were not particularly friendly.

Review 107:Everithing ok

Review 108:Very good location. very clean.

Review 109:I miss a swiming pool or sauna

Review 110:Lovely hotel with helpful, efficient staff, it is fairly new with very attractive contemporary decor; very restful.

Review 112:location, friendly staff, price

Review 113:The staff are great!
