Reviews for Hotel Plaza
Review 1:Staircases no elevator. Lights in hallways that dont turn off at Night, with glass Doors of the room, your bedroom is fully lit. Noisy, dusty, not clean.
Review 2:Location
Review 3:This hotel was in a great location. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the square. Great buffet breakfast with eggs, bread, juice, fruit, oatmeal. Staff could speak English, but were patient with me trying to speak Spanish.
Review 4:Had to change rooms as bathroom wasn't functional. Carpets were wet and smelly. Whole hotel had bad smell. Windows didn't close properly. Breakfast had stale pastries. No elevator. There was a gal at the front desk who shouldn't be in front of guests.
Review 5:Great location. Old funky charm.
Review 6:Floors are all over wonky No elevator had to tack up luggage with children.
Review 7:That it was central and accommodated a few hours for our connecting transfer
Review 8:Nothing to dislike really ... just it had better years ... but it gives it some character! Maybe a little bit pricey ... Some rooms do not have WiFi.
Review 9:Nice hotel in the centre of the town. Very convenient. The staff (looks like it is a family run business - at least in 50%) is very friendly.
Review 10:Reception is one floor up. There is no lift so all luggage has to be lugged up a long flight of stairs. The rooms are one more flight up. The room was to hot and very noisy. There is no way of controlling the heat. Double glazing might help the street noise. The breakfast cook needs an attitude change. Rude and not helpful. There were no restaurant facilities.
Review 11:The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and the children loved it.
Review 12:As soon as lights were out, it was so bright from street lights and light in passage which stayed on all night, which lit up the room, as we like to sleep in darkness this became a problem.
Review 13:The room had a great view over the square/plaza, room was big enough considering it was an old building.
Review 14:Sometimes the hot water cut out during a shower, but as the weather was warm, it was not a burden.
Review 15:Conversations with the owners and their daughter, the peaceful, tropical setting, their art and art gallery, helpful suggestions, going the extra mile to help us who do not have cell phones or computers to use on vacation. Sitting on our lanai with a glass of wine enjoying the tropical garden.
Review 16:pageon booking.com says it has a restaurant. it doesn't. I arrived after flying 24 hours wanting a hot meal and a drink and I had to go out on my own at 10 pm in Punta Arenas to find a restaurant. I booked this hotel because the information says it has a restaurant. Please remove this misleading detail.
Review 17:Too many steps up and down in the main floor. I know it is hard to fix, but at least you need to make some signs to warn guests so that they won't fall.
Review 18:I learned a lot from Mr. Hardy regarding the culture and indigenous people in the area. His spoken English is understandable if not fluent. Most important, he is patient and willing to share his knowledge with me. Travel is not only for leisure. It is a good way learn and communicate with people worldwide.
Review 19:We booked months ahead of time for 2 nights TWIN and yet were given a dingy DOUBLE room with a high window we could not see out of. Staff said no other available even though many rooms were not occupied at time. We later complained to the manager who was able to change our room then we were pleased with the accommodation.
Review 20:Staff accommodated an early breakfast prior to excursion.
Review 21:The hotel is dated.
Review 22:The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to locate us a tour to see the penguins on Magdalene Island even though it was after business hours. They got us the tour and it was fantastic. The location of the hotel is also good, right on the plaza and close to shops and the port.
Review 23:The hotel is not on the ground floor so bags had to be carried up a flight of stairs to get to the reception desk.
Review 24:Loved my interesting room with steps leading to my bathroom and the pleasant smell of the hotel.
Review 25:Not applicable
Review 26:The hotel could not be faulted.Staff were super friendly.Breakfasts were nutritious and delicious....and everything so clean and heandy to the city centre!
Review 27:Old style building which was fine but has timber floors which can be very noisy!
Review 28:Very central and handy to everything, very secure and warm - although too warm at times.
Review 29:Beds a bit old and soft
Review 30:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good value for the price point. Bit noisy at 5am Sat as the youth of PA were spilling onto the streets around the Plaza de Armas!
Review 31:Bathrooms should be renovated...
Review 32:Old-style charming hotel
Review 33:Lack of elevator, nighttime street noise
Review 34:Location near plaza and bus terminal
Review 35:Everything
Review 36:A bit of a rabbit warren feel!
Review 37:Close to main square etc
Review 38:The hotel was really dirty. Mouldy shower. Absolutely overpriced
Review 39:The new receptionist was very nice
Review 40:Bit run down for the cost - although places seem generally more expensive here than other places we stayed in Patagonia.
Review 41:Central location
Review 42:Very helpfull staff
Review 43:Location, room size, comfort, clean.
Review 44:Breakfast.
Review 45:Location, homey feeling, clean and friendly.
Review 46:Street noise at night and room a little small.
Review 47:Central location is good, comfortable bed and decent breakfast.
Review 48:Cold room.
Review 49:Breakfast
Review 50:Staff, facilities and wi-fi were not so good, staff did not scheduled taxi and other appointments as our request, rooms are not provided with frigobars and we got wi-fi only outside the room, in areas near the front desk.
Review 51:Value for money is excellent. Location is very good.
Review 52:Great location. Historic building, a taste of history with high ceilings, a friendly staff, nice breakfast in a pleasant breakfast room, and comfortable accommodations. Just what we were looking for.
Review 53:Try not to get a room on the street; we had one on the street on the second floor and it was very noisy. Also, the staff at the front desk were generally inattentive and/or inexperienced.
Review 54:The location was central and handy to restaurants and attractions. The room was small but clean with nice furnishings. Breakfast was good.
Review 55:The photo does not look anything like the room I had which was disappointing. My room was dark and run down. Also the walls between rooms and floors are thin, I could hear people upstairs coming in and out of their room.
Review 56:Location is good, right in the heart of the city.
Review 57:lack of restaurant (we arrived on 31st of Dec, no option to eat out without booking, no food in the hotel) staff doing minimum, not speaking english, didn't help with the luggage (even if only helping me to put backpack on my back); not providing info, not even pretending to try to help funny breakfast arrangement (some options like scramble eggs arrived as we were done with brekfast - since nobody noticed that both us an other tourists were already eating) poor wifi in rooms
Review 58:location (very central) very clean very comfortable bed pc with internet available by the reception for general use
Review 59:A bit noisy but that's the price you pay for central.
Review 60:Hotel plaza is very central. There was a mix up in the booking so instead of a superior room we got a standard. Not a problem. Although not luxury it was comfortable warm and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was basic standard Chilean fare. For the price in an expensive area it was fine. Staff were helpful and good recommendations for nearby restaurants
Review 61:Wifi did not work in our room, but worked in the common areas and hall, so not a huge issue.
Review 62:Location is excellent, in the center of town. We were given a large twin room with two double beds - the room was very spacious and comfortable.
Review 63:This is a fairly poor, dated hotel. Our room had only a small ventilation window on the inter courtyard. Staff was slow. Breakfast a disaster. Way overpriced.
Review 64:Location on the main square is great.
Review 65:The hotel starts in the second floor of this lovely old building, which, with no lift, makes it difficult getting bags up. Fit staff are essential! The outside of the lower level of the building leaves a lot to be desired. Dont be put off thinking you have arrived at the wrong place.
Review 66:Arriving at the Plaza was a "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover" moment. My initial misgivings were completely unfounded. Brilliant staff, adequate breakfast, comfortable room, good bathroom, useful location for exploring Punta. Good stop over spot or centre for further exploring....easy walking to a couple of good restaurants and bars as well as the waterfront/wharf area.
Review 67:A little noisy, but given the downtown location, that was to be expected. There was no elevator, but the building was over 100 years old. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
Review 68:Location. As near to the city center as any hotel. Staff was very friendly.
Review 69:The hotel was clean, comfortable and nicely fitted out. The rooms had lovely high ceilings and were light and airy. All in all it was a nice stress free overnight stay.
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:We found the rooms very comfortable and warm with a good bathroom, excellent wi fi and good breakfasts. The staff were friendly and helpful in spite of our poor Spanish and there was generally someone with good English to help with car hire, parking etc. Excellent value for money and a great location in the centre of town.
Review 72:There is not lift
Review 73:The room was perfect (nice beds, good bathroom, not too much heat),really good breakfast, the best kuchen I've eaten at a hotel, thenice and helpful colombian lady who manages the hotel
Review 74:noise from the street was very loud. Windows were too thin and did not block out any noise. Room right next to kitchen/dining area was loud.
Review 75:good location right next to central plaza and some restaurants. Room was comfortable and warm. Bathroom clean.
Review 76:Rooms are rather small. No lift for heavy luggage as hotel is on first floor.
Review 77:Very good location, nice little hotel although quite old. Good breakfast. Place to be recmended for a short stay in Punta Arenas.
Review 78:Reception located on first floor and no elevator. Bags had to be carried upstairs.
Review 79:Friendly staff centrally located on plaza. Comfortable beds and pillows. Close to supermarket and restaurants.
Review 80:Noisy. Central location has a lot of road noise and church next door has loud bell every half hour
Review 81:Great location in central Punta Arenas, some of staff were very English capable and very helpful, all were polite, breakfast was great
Review 82:- dirty carpet in our room - in general old and shabby interior, renovation would be appropriate - staff can hardly speak and understand English, one of the receptionists said he can arrange a transfer to the airport for 6.000 CLP, we ended up in a taxi and had to pay 13.000 CLP!
Review 83:- big rooms - location is unbeatable, right at the main plaza - breakfast ok (toast, joghurt, ham, cheese, eggs, cake, fruits, flakes, coffee, tea...), nice breakfast room - flatscreen TV
Review 84:Nothing really.
Review 85:Hotel a bit tired (and for those of you who are getting on a bit, there isn't a lift and reception is on the first floor. That said, however, we were helped down with our luggage and the staff were helpful in arranging taxis to the airport. Reasonable value for money.
Review 86:No elevator at all. We had more of a closet, than a room. No window and the bathroom was tiny with no place for toiletries etc.
Review 87:Very central location. Close to a great restaurant, "Broccolini".
Review 88:Extremely helpfull staff and friendly. Perfect location on the main street looking right at the central square. Older hotel with history and character but very comfortable rooms.
Review 89:The old carpet throughout the hotel gave a tired, old look to the place which spoiled the other adequate decor.
Review 90:Breakfast excellent. Confort of room and shower good.
Review 91:Stairs.
Review 92:We really enjoyed the way the had been preserved. It still had the stately feel of the old hotel, but very comfortable. Nice breakfast served.
Review 93:Noise is a problem since it echoed from the reception area to our first floor room at the top of the stairs. Also, street noise since our room faced one of the main downtown streets. No elevator, so travel light!
Review 94:Good location on the main square in the center of town. Stately building, nicely maintained and renovated in a simple style. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. Helpful staff e.g. provided hot water and cups for tea in the evening.
Review 95:If you have a heavy suitcase be warned: there is no lift and thereception is on the first floor.
Review 96:The hotel is in te city´s main square. The personnel is very friendlyand rooms are small but comfortable.
Review 97:The windows are single glazed and our room overlooked the intersection of two fairly main roads. As a consequence there was a lot of noise, which went on all night (traffic, people). It was a Saturday night and apparently Punta Arenas likes to party - not good for us though as we wanted a good night's sleep before an early start and a long journey!
Review 98:A fair price for a centrally located no-frills hotel
Review 99:Our room was on the level floor and there was a lot of noise arrivingfrom the hall and also from the street.
Review 100:The hotel is located in the centre of the city.
Review 101:There is a lot of noise at night. Also most of the staff do not speak English.
Review 102:Stayed here for just 1 night and the location is very good for seeing the main sights of Punta Arenas.
Review 103:Very noisy between cars in the street and reception bell the whole night we didn't have much sleep. uncomfortable beds, very hard mattress
Review 104:Good location in the town centre Clean and nice.
Review 105:Noise from the street
Review 106:Location Charm of Old Building
Review 107:Walls are thin, so I hear noise from next room
Review 108:Helpful, friendly reception staff
Review 109:reception staff's english was so poor and took so much time to check in.
Review 110:great location
Review 111:Clean, nicely furnitured room, spacy also bathroom, light in rooms was good
Review 112:The room was somewhat spartan. Lighting was poor.
Review 113:Staff were very helpful. Location was great!
Review 114:General dreariness of the physical hotel. Faded lady needing a serious facelift.
Review 115:Location and the breakfast was okay.
Review 116:The hotel was clean, the room was great although the carpet needs replacing. Quiet location. Breakfast was really good.
Review 117:English skills poor and not much help with tour info.
Review 118:Well located, pleasant hotel with old world charm.
Review 119:couldnt control heat
Review 120:Location old style friendly staff good breakfast

Review 122:- excellent location - clean
Review 123:Too much money for what it is!
Review 124:Clean, good location, secure, nice staff
Review 125:Two of the front desk staff female employees were curt - a little too preoccupied to assist customers.
Review 126:the pool was excellent
Review 127:This Hotel has a perfect downtown location. Just in on of the main corners at Plaza de Armas, helps you to get everywhere easily by foot.
