Reviews for Wenxin B&B
Review 1:The breakfast was just adequate, self serve, the decor is really hodge podge - not really what you expect from a B & B, more like a boarding house.
Review 2:It met our needs in terms of beds and location and bathrooms.
Review 3:A little noisy, especially in the first floor.
Review 4:A classic B&B, 5 rooms in a house--2 in the first floor and 3 in the second floor. 2 washrooms. The breakfast is just so-so, but they have prepared chocolates, which is nice.
Review 5:Breakfast was a disappointment. Instant coffee. Frozen waffles, cold cereal, toast and orange juice.
Review 6:It was a beautiful old building very well maintained. Comfortable. No TV or phones, which was perfect for me. People were friendly and helpful.
Review 7:The place was still open at 11pm and they were willing to wait for me since i was in the city later than expected, the staff were very accomodating, the ambiance was very cozy, breakfast was served as if u were at home, just a great experience for a budget type of accomodation, its located at down town regina and very accessible to the mall, and other places too, would gladly to recomend this place to anyone who is in a budget and wanted great value for their money
Review 8:The location was suspect. Poor neighbourhood. The entry was dirty and fake flowers layered in dust. There was no tv in our room and no shower in our bathroom.
Review 9:The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good
Review 10:First time staying in a B&B, so not sure what to expect but We got the family room and it had no TV.Nor any common room with a tv, so missed watching news /weather in morning and evening. also no shower in family room -just a large tub , so had to go to common bathroom to shower ( which kind of defeated purpose of the family room ) No full length mirrors anywhere - just face mirrors ! Towels all small !take your own . Nobody around for breakfast -so kind of felt like we where just going through a Strangers fridge / house .
Review 11:Location was great if wanting close to downtown .quiet.clean and comfortable room . If just going to sleep there it's great - but if spending any length of time in room , get a hotel !
Review 12:No shower, shown to our room, no comfortable place to sit in our room. Staff was ok, but not really friendly, breakfast was nothing like we expected at at Bed and Breakfast. Offered instant coffee, make your own toast, cold cereal, she offered us a fried egg, just one, well done egg. Not exactly a warm cozy environment.
Review 13:Easy to find, neat old house. Provided a locked garage for our car.
Review 14:Staff does not speak English even to clarify basic things (e.g., parking, payment). The room was undemanding (e.g., I was not able to use hot water at all because of broken taps). The house was also damp.
Review 15:The main floor room towards the back of the house with the two beds had an old, cat pee smell. It wasn't overpowering, but enough to be a vague presence in the room. The main floor bathroom was mostly clean but dated and the shower was not inviting. Flip flops are recommended, but I just skipped it entirely. I can't speak to the other rooms though, and the common areas were clean and functional (no cat pee smell there). It was also very noisy during parts of the night because there were people being drunk and loud in the alley nearby for the better part of the night. This was not any fault of the people running the place and could have been a one-time thing, but it certainly impacted my ability to get much sleep.
Review 16:The people running this accommodation were very pleasant and easy to deal with! The location is nice in the daytime, but a bit rough at night. Close to downtown, university, parliament, etc. And on a tree-lined street. Street parking was easily available on a Friday night.
Review 17:Host was friendly but language barrier interfered with needs being understood. Were required to remove street shoes for cleanliness purposes but then required to wear establishment owned indoor footwear with no quarantine of sanitization. Took several attempts to gain access for checking in.
Review 18:The beds were very comfortable, but but woke with skin irritations.building was very secure & easy to find.
Review 19:It is an old Victorian home, extremely well decorated and the people were lovely. Our room was large and very comfortable. There was a separate room for our grandson.
Review 20:I had requested ahead of time a gluten free option for breakfast. When I arrived it was not available
Review 21:Very clean and quiet. Friendly and good location. The price was affordable as well
Review 22:Breakfast was lousy,no tv,no extra toilet paper in our bathroom, person cooking breakfast couldn't speak English but communicated by sign languish
Review 23:Rooms were clean, allowed us to park in their garage, had use of jacuzzi tub
Review 24:Could be difficult to work around the posted parking hours during the work week. Bedroom was very hot. Luckily there was a small fan which helped to cool the sleeping area. Shower didn't work. Had to use adjacent bathroom.
Review 25:Location handy to downtown. Parking on the street on weekend was not an issue. Stayed in the large suite in the back with air conditioned sitting/sleeping area and attached ensure. Nicely appointed private location.
Review 26:Found the bed in downstairs queen room to be hard and a bit uncomfortable
Review 27:Very clean and tidy inside. Most guests were respectful of sharing washrooms, and were generally quiet. Breakfast of toast, waffles, eggs with coffee/tea/juice. Very close to downtown shopping, major park.
Review 28:The tub and bathroom rack were rusty...it needs replacement!
Review 29:Our stay has been good! We liked staying here, it was a good place. We had a very good sleep during our stay...very quiet and cozy place. The looks is a bit outdated but it was neat and clean inside!. If you are looking for affordable and good value for your money, I would recommend this place All of my requests were address and Danco, the owner is very nice and accomodating! Wifi speed was also good!
Review 30:The staff family was very kind and even made up a box breakfast for us as we left for the airport very early before they began cooking breakfast. Great location for getting to the airport.
Review 31:Nothing super fancy but really nice, fairly clean, friendly, accommodating, great street parking, safe area, within walking distance to several down town local pubs, eatery's
Review 32:Was told we could use the garage, but no go. Felt like a bait and switch but the host was super sweet.
Review 33:Really nice 2 bedroom setup with large jacuzzi tub in our own bathroom.
Review 34:A small investment could go a long way, a few places need a paint job, no hook to hang your coats in the room and no tv in the room.
Review 35:Breakfast was awesome, the price was very good, the staff was outstanding, the WiFi worked really well and the location was at 10 mins from the airport and where my event was held.
Review 36:-poor matress -no shower in the ensuite bathroom -breakfast was mostly out-of -the-box and lacked culinary basics expected in a B&B -there was no individual heat control in the suite; it was chilly in the morning and stuffy at night -staff was courteous but distant and did not show personal interest -hygiene was poor regarding cups (not safely sanitized), mouthwash (half empty mini-bottle!), shampoo (half empty mini bottle)
Review 37:The site was clean except for the bath tub.
Review 38:No air conditioning as advertised. It was too warm for sleeping upstairs in spring. Didn't know where we were welcome so we spent too much time in a small bedroom. Breakfast was adequate but toast was cold, waffles were not edible, coffee was instant.
Review 39:Price was nice. Location was fine
Review 40:Overall, the place was a bit shabby. Not unclean, but a bit old and in need of a refresh.
Review 41:Room was clean and staff was good. Overall value was pretty good.
Review 42:I had back to back visits in two weeks to Regina and I opted this facility since I just wanted to spend time for sleep. The main issues are their facility is more like a home stay . Walls are too hollow so you can hear the guy next door snoring!! Bathrooms don't have body wash or tooth paste.
Review 43:Not a bad deal for money.$60 for a night and near to downtown are plus
Review 44:With a full house can be challenging for breakfast seating. street parking all hours on weekend but limited 10-5pm to 2 hours monday to Friday but was not problem for our stay.
Review 45:Excellent price for accommodation and breakfast, and our host Danko very attentive to please. We stayed in the second floor private bathroom which was very spacious. Basic and clean.
Review 46:Lack of cleanliness Poor design of family suite (had to walk thru kids room to go to the bathroom) Hard time sleeping as it was so hot and couldn't adjust the thermostat.
Review 47:It was cheap
Review 48:I would definitely recommend it to anyone! They were kind enough to wake up at 3 am with make to make sure my cab was on time! They even made me a little care package to take to the airport. Amazing people!!
Review 49:The `breakfast` was not good. Every day it was the same and thrown on the table in a hap hazard manner (in cartons) …card-boardish Eggo waffles, wonder bread, amongst other packaged carbs (whoever ate first that day got them warm)….A fried egg and banana (the only fruit). We opted not to have `breakfast` the last day because it was so bad. It was not an overly clean place….cute but very basic. By adding a good breakfast or at least a light option (ie. yogurt/ granola/ a bit of fruit) I would have maybe given a different review….Food is an important past of `Bed and BREAKFAST`….thus the name. It was roasting hot and we had to open the window full open to breath at night. We were travelling with my daughter and family …her husband was the first to comment on the lack of `breakfast`. It was a disappointment. Our shoes had to be left outside in an unheated porch. I started bring my shoes in at night because in the morning they had the snow still on them from the night before! They were FROZEN! A small space heater or other option would remedy that. Its too bad that the things that were bad overshadowed a reasonable option for travellers. I would encourage Wenxin to make these changes so our reviews could match the promise of what could be.
Review 50:We were out for my son-in-laws RCMP grad and the Wenxin was a good location to depo. The price was good but not enough to lure me back.
Review 51:The neighbourhood didn't look too good
Review 52:Very nice staff, we arrived very late - that was no problem, good breakfast, it kind of felt like staying at a private home, free Wifi
Review 53:There really wasn't anything I didn't like. This is really a great B&B at any price.
Review 54:Staff was courteous, helpful and professional. I liked the architecture of the house. It was peaceful and quiet. The price was the best you can get in Regina. They now accept credit cards!
Review 55:Bathroom on main floor - minimal facilities - i.e. lighting, sink. Noise from room above Hard bed, no mattress cover Inadequate light for reading No place to hang towels in room
Review 56:Friendly, helpful hostess Relaxed atmosphere Adequate breakfast Location
Review 57:The person who meet us upon arrival could not speak any English, the room on the top floor was extremely hot, we turned on 2 fans, opened both windows and by the time be got back after 9:00pm the room was cool. not sure what it would be like in the summer. Only then did an English speaking person respond to us, and that was ask about a time for breakfast. No TV and basically no place to sit.
Review 58:The price was alright, not sure I would stay here again. It was clean but really no where to sit outside of your room. The yard so very messy. If Regina is a place you have to stop at for sleep is very overpriced, so I guess the Wenxin will have to be the best place for the price.
Review 59:On check in the man had almost no English. No a/c and the temp was 33C with only a fan.Room 102 shower wand not attached to control. Bed is a box spring and mattress on the floor. No garage door opener so must walk around from the alley to the front to access the walk in door.To get from the front of the house to the garage difficult and unsafe to get to in the dark. No lights and lots of stuff around.
Review 60:Great location and a garage to park your vehicle was a bonus. Great fast wifi.
Review 61:Eggs were cooked before I sat down. Room on the first floor was comfortable but right next to the kitchen so could hear everyone at breakfast at 7:30 when I was not ready to get up. Room was too warm for me and I was unable to open a window.
Review 62:Very clean and quiet, walking distance to downtown and the university. I would stay here again but would like a differnt room.
Review 63:No one there when we arrived-locked out. Terrible odor throughout the home. No breakfast at this bed and breakfast although we were told in advance about that and rate reduced by $5.00
Review 64:Visited with other interesting guest
Review 65:Weird smell in the room - very strong For others - most people don't speak English (we managed fine - but could be a problem)
Review 66:Good people, very concerned, fellow travellers very interesting and fun. You become family very quickly. We came for one night and needed to stay another and they accommodated us.
Review 67:We were a little apprehensive with the outside upon arrival but pleasantly surprised when inside. The facilities are slightly dated but kept up very well..
Review 68:Very nice inside, very clean. The friendly staff willingly accomodated us with an early breakfast. Good value.
Review 69:No TV!!! It is odd to stay without TV, but it is OK.
Review 70:Hospitality and care, location and the of course "the prize! People are warm and alive. They make you feel home. You hate to leave them!!!
Review 71:Parent Operator didn't speak English. Poor quality breakfast; waffles and pastries out of a package. White bread for toast. No juice, jam or toppings for waffles. Gas smell in bedroom. Poor lighting in the bathroom.
Review 72:Clean bedroom. Central location.
Review 73:I chose the bedroom with private washroom. But the shower head was out of order during my stay.
Review 74:Staffs are friendly, rooms are tidy and clean. Breakfast is not fancy but simply and good. Location is near downtown with some restaurants and drugstore closed by.
Review 75:Breakfast was well set out and served but the choice ran to highly refined carbs e.g. white bread for toast, mufffins, croissant, toaster waffles; and egg. Choice varied but was similar each of the 4 days there. Family has difficultly relating to guests when daughter is not there as they do not speak Enlish well. Daughter handles most of non Chinese guests. Sometimes only non English speakers are available when guests come to door, or call displayed phone number, even with reservation. We made suggestions to remedy this.
Review 76:Homey atmosphere, very polite and friendly owners, a family, only saw mother and college age daughter who handles most of reservations. There is a full kitchen which can be used to cook meals for lunch or dinner. Beds were very comfortable-large soaker tub was nice.
Review 77:The bed was not the best; it could have been more comfortable. There was no TV in the sitting room or the bedroom. The WiFi was slow. Breakfast, though sufficient, could have had more selection. There was only white bread (we eat whole grain) and only one fruit - banana. An apple or orange would have been nice. There was no sugar - only Twin and the coffee was instant. A cup of fresh brewed would have been better. There was only street parking but it seemed to be a safe quiet area.
Review 78:The young lady that greeted us and took care of us was very nice. For the price, it was great value. We stayed in the bedroom on the main floor facing the street. The bedroom was a comfortable size. The sitting room just outside the bedroom was pleasant. The bathroom was clean and modern. Hardwood floor in bedroom. Breakfast was sufficient but could have had more choice. There was only street parking but it seemed to be a safe area. It was quiet - in the house and on the street.
Review 79:We did not like that we did not have our own bathroom, however we never meet anyone else upstairs so it was always free when needed. The bed was to soft for my husband and I and we woke up with a bit of a stiff back, but had a great nights sleep. The landscaping needs work as it looks like has been for them about while they redid the inside of the home.
Review 80:My husband and I liked how sweet and accommodating to our request of a breakfast at 6:30 am as we were traveling early the next morning. They are a friendly family who tries to ensure you are taken care of. The location is easy to find and to connect onto highway and beautiful parks near by to walk to. The rooms are clean, quiet and a good size. The home has been renovated but can still bouts character for the homes period.
Review 81:This B&B is sweet and make me feel at home. It has free phone service that I can call others in foreign countries. The receptionist is so nice. She showed us the roads and delicious restaurants near the B&B.
Review 82:I would suggest perhaps a breakfast menu that could be filled out ahead of time, so as not to waste prepared food. Not everyone like a lot of carbs--e.g., waffles, cakes, toast, croissants. Perhaps a choice of eggs, bacon, & toast with juice; or yogurt with granola and fresh fruit.
Review 83:The accommodations were very clean and comfortable, and our hosts did their best to comply to requests. It is within walking distance to good restaurants, and parking is quite convenient--being on the street right outside.
Review 84:Would be nice to have a mirror in the room!
Review 85:The staff was very accommodating.. When my flight was late coming in…I arrived at 3am I'm the morning, she was very gracious about. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay!
Review 86:Very bad smell when entering the mud room. Probably rotting of construction and dampness combined. I feared probably mold was in this room one had to pass to get to the front door. No shuttle as promised..had to take a taxi and pay for it myself. ($15 incl. $2. tip) Very old bathroom and shower area. I did not want to trust putting my feet in the stall.
Review 87:location the best.
Review 88:Great location close to Hospital also close to cancer lodge where my sister is getting treatments, the garden they have is wonderful very relaxing for to just walk around or sit to look at,The mother & daughter that run the place very nice family . I would stay there again they have great price, the host call taxi to take me to lodge where my sister was at.
Review 89:Traveling with 6 grandchildren ages 8 to 17. We had the entire 2nd floor for games and visiting. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Our hosts were friendly and helpful.
Review 90:Bathroom tub and shower need better cleaning attention between guest.
Review 91:A new Canadian family trying very hard to please. They are very welcoming. Breakfast is fried egg and frozen waffles / pancakes / cookies, banana, orange juice, tea, coffee. Queen bed -good, smaller bed -hard. Smaller rooms with poor air flow / hot. Floors, beds, house in general... clean. Great location! Central. Easy parking. Good value.
Review 92:The hosts were very nice and welcoming! It was very clean and for such a great price! Breakfast was also very delicious as well. Will definitely be back!
Review 93:The folks who own and operate this B & B are super people. Friendly, kind, attentive and accommodating. Even with the shared bathroom there was no awkwardness. Having no TV was actually best. Wi-fi worked great. Close to everything, especially the airport. Highly recommend this place. It is not the Hilton folks, but you sure feel taken care of. The added benefit is getting to meet some other travellers and perhaps have a good conversation if the timing warrants.
Review 94:Overpriced for what is provided. Shower did not work & looked like it had been that way for some time.
Review 95:Friendly staff.
Review 96:Nothing!
Review 97:Great staff, location and facilities. Lots of privacy and very lovely rooms. I will be back.
Review 98:No towels provided for the shower
Review 99:Price and location
Review 100:Firat floor. Noisy
Review 101:Perfect cleaness
Review 102:Clean and courteous
Review 103:Felt the need to whisper at night as there was no sound proofing between rooms and hallway.
Review 104:Excellent location in downtown core.
Review 105:Very bad smell inside the house; The staff seems never smiled in their life
Review 106:location
Review 107:The bed wasn't very comfortable. The reviews were overrated.
Review 108:It was close to some great eating places.
Review 109:Convenient location for driving to the University. Room was comfortable and cosy. Owner is very pleasant to deal with.
Review 110:Service was good, needed to store my suitcase and they were very helpful
Review 111:Located downtown, 5 minutes walk from major street and downtown city center (although very quiet). Quaint and tidy. Gay bar 5 minutes away.
Review 112:Great breakfast, very friendly staff, and you could eat off the bathroom floor it was so clean. 1st class all the way.
Review 113:Breakfast, lady did not understand English at all! Confusing what was on offer
Review 114:Buffet breakfast and clean.
Review 115:It wasn't what I expected. The owners had little grasp of English language. Squeezing bed. Breakfast was mediocre
Review 116:very nice hostess and very clean, they helped me arrange for a taxi for the airport and everything was very polite
Review 117:The young woman that handled our check in was very friendly and welcoming
Review 118:the bed
Review 119:location,service.
Review 120:- Price - Devoted staff - Location
Review 121:No a/c, language barrier, one of the workers customer service skills needs work.
Review 122:The price was reasonable, clean and comfortable.
Review 123:staff were very pleasant and very accommodating will stay again
Review 124:Reasonable price. Close to everything!
Review 125:very friendly and accomodating
