Reviews for Best Western Downtown Sudbury
Review 1:The parking for this facility is really horrible. Not enough parking spots and the area for parking is extremely tight and small. It was a an adequate facility for an overnight stay, but truly for $29 more the Hampton Inn has huge rooms, lots of parking and a full breakfast included.
Review 2:We liked the friendly staff and the cleanliness of our room.
Review 3:The parking was a little tight and the included breakfast could have been better. The fruit offered was old and should have been chucked. Coffee was weak!!!!
Review 4:The location was great, the room was comfy and clean.
Review 5:Not so much bad experience as just a negative experience. Girl days weekend not too friendly in greeting us at anytime. Had to search her down 2x weekend to conduct signing out which she had ready and to ask something else. She just said i'll be there in a sec..No saying sorry to keep you etc. nor never offering a hi or hello or how are you anytime we came and went. No one was helpful in giving us places to go and eat..we kind of had to find that out ourselves although late arriving and we did not notice the booklets nor was it pointed out as we arrived and went to our room/even next day in asking where mall was.
Review 6:The girl when we arrived on friday evening was very friendly in greeting us and talking with us. same with night guy saturday night/coming back from the wedding asked if we had a good night and it must be good to be home. Rooms clean. Also able to get breakfast FREE and out of the way to do other things.
Review 7:The entire 5 minutes we was there and had to leave. My non smoking room smelled like an ashtray and the jacuzzi was a joke, Staff was a joke, and they made the poor German family who checked in before us have such a difficult time to check in because he couldn't remember how to say a few numbers for his home phone number in english when all she had to do is ask him to write them down....
Review 8:nothing.
Review 9:We paid 150.00 for the night and we did not get any sleep because the people in the room beside us partied till 3am We had an eight hour drive home with no sleep. We will not be staying there again.
Review 10:Booked a room threw Booking.com did not get what I paid for Booking .com did not return my call. Elevators very slow. Old motel. Could not get in from outside had to go threw motel every time. Very limited parking. We had to park a few blocks away one night. No handicap parking at all. Do not recycle. I could go on and on. Would not recommend this to anyone..
Review 11:There was nothing that I liked
Review 12:You booked us in this hotel but they were already full!! The desk clerk was excellent however and found us a great room at a nearby hotel that was actually a few dollars cheaper for an even better room.
Review 13:Small, dark, hot rooms, no restaurant. If you go to leave for a walk there is a Salvation Army/Shelter across the street in which peddlers are loitering-makes for a feeling of unease. Parking is odd spot, out in open across from shelter. I booked for 2 days, but was booked out after first in error and credit card was charged/room key cancelled and I was not contacted to advise they did this before realizing their error. When checking out on 2nd day was advised of their error-not pleasantly or apologetic of error.
Review 14:Night staff was friendly.
Review 15:The bed was very comfortable but the sheets didn't fit the oversize mattress. The Wi-fi was intermittent. Breakfast was tasteless and disappointing. No restaurant on site.
Review 16:Nice room-small but well laid out.
Review 17:The only problem we had was our key cards had to be constantly reprogrammed, but that was a minor flaw in a lovely stay.
Review 18:Very central and very quiet. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Review 19:The A/C wasn't working properly so the room was hot making it difficult to sleep. Coffee was terrible.
Review 20:The room was updated, clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was adequate.
Review 21:I didn't like the parking. It is very compact and doesn't seem very secure. My son was disappointed that the exercise room was closed.
Review 22:Very clean room, good location if you have to be downtown Sudbury. The room was up-to-date and the mini fridge and microwave were a nice feature.
Review 23:Although they claimed to offer complimentary toiletries, such as toothpaste, there was none available upon request. They were indifferent about this and took no action to remedy this, which was disappointing. Healthy food needed for breakfast, such as fruits.
Review 24:The room was nicer than expected. Although the washroom was quite small, the room itself was sufficient and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 25:For those of you who prefer to use the closed captioning on your television, you should consider a different hotel. The hotel has placed a lock on the closed captioning on the television. Because the remote supplied with the room is not the same brand as the television, the only way the lock can be removed is to contact the front desk and have someone come in with a different remote to remove the lock. We contacted the front desk by phone and we were told someone would be up “shortly”. We waited an hour and finally took the elevator down to the lobby. The staff person then got a box of remotes and went up to the room. After an hour fiddling with remotes while discussing the issue with a manager on the phone, the lock was finally removed. The staff person was not obviously not happy about having to do this. We have had this happen before, and every time it ends up taking at least an hour, and sometimes more, to get the “lock” removed. It is very frustrating, especially if you arrive later in the evening and would just like to snuggle up and watch a show or the news. Given how long and hard the disabilities community has had to fight to get closed captioning offered on television, the barrier erected by the hotel is inexcusable. This hotel is situated downtown and the parking area is very small.
Review 26:The breakfast is adequate and is served in a very nice room.
Review 27:The front desk person Vina was polite and courteous. She greeted us with a smile and was very personable. The towel were soft and the beds were comfy.
Review 28:WiFi needs to be secure and accessible only with a password. I declined to use it. The home page for the computer in the Business Centre should be set on a reliable search engine such as Google.ca, not "Ask.com".
Review 29:The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful, amongst the friendliest in the hotels in northern Ontario where I have stayed. I was impressed that ceramic plates and cups, stainless steel cutlery, etc were available to breakfast patrons, reducing waste and conserving resources.
Review 30:One day staff only Not good for a hotel where you have to wait for this staff to return to the front desk after house keeping work cleaning up a room.
Review 31:Courteous night staff (one only)
Review 32:- The internet connection wasn't wifi as you had to connect with an Ethernet cable which we didn't have with us. If the internet was wifi it would have shown up on the laptop where other wifi connections were located and password protected. - The room was extremely small.
Review 33:I understand that it was a holiday (Aug 4th), but to only have 1 staff member working??? The bed didn't have the proper sheets on it, the TV channels were working properly either. All in all, you couldn't pay me to go back to that hotel!!
Review 34:NOTHING AT ALL!!!!
Review 35:Missed the safe in the room and a proper TV-guide (how to operate the system). Breakfast was limited. Rooms were refurbished (ours was the first), meaning that the hallway was partially blocked with matrasses and old carpets. Location is ok from the point of view of "central in Sudbury", but not when looking at facilities and restaurants nearby. A bit of a "has-been neighbourhood".
Review 36:Almost all facilities required from a room were available.
Review 37:Breakfast could be better.
Review 38:Nothing!
Review 39:Staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly & helpful. Breakfast was grateful. The rooms were very clean.

Review 97:Where to begin...the woman who checked us in, I'm assuming was somesort of manager. She was very rude. I wasn't aware that I was goingto be charged an incidentals deposit..I've never paid that at anyother hotel before. She also spent the whole time talking to other people that we were working at the desk. Very unprofessional. I also wouldn't have known which room I was in...she never told me. The only was I knew was I heard her ask the cleaning staff if that room was cleaned. The employees were dressed very sloppy..not at all what you'd expect from such a large hotel chain. The breakfast was terrible. For someone who can't eat gluten, all I could eat was cold hard boiled eggs. And the coffee was cold, and juice empty. The lobby was nice, but elevators and floors were too warm/smelled very bad. Our room was also right beside the ice machine, so it was quite noisy. The air conditioning didn't stay on. I understand that it's set to go on at intervals to save energy but this would be off for long periods of time. Very uncomforable to sleep..our temperature went up to 78! Will absolutely never go back to this hotel again. And definitely will not be recommending it either.
Review 98:The girl at the desk when I checked out was friendly. But didn't askmy how my stay was or anything. Just checked me out. Didn't thank mefor staying.
Review 99:Hotel is still under renovation and some things like breakfast area are not as inviting to be in as they could be. Staffing seems to be an issue as no one was at the front desk when we arrived. Had to use my cell phone to call the clerk who was getting laundry from somewhere. Seems that management expects a multi-tasking staff at the expense of service to the public. At breakfast time the front desk clerk was also responsible for the continental breakfast. Other hotels have each position staffed separately. We'll probably stay at a different hotel the next time we travel to see family in Sudbury.
Review 100:The booking is better done on your own. Don't bother calling thenumber on website. Spent 15mins on the phone and was told to call backand I booked it online on my own in 3 mins.

Review 102:Where is the air conditioning - the unit in the room works but only if the room was 5 x 7 - windows dont open - all night I was uncomfortable - most people like to sleep in a cool room
Review 103:The internet and cable wasnt working half the night. And no one at thefront desk to answer the phone. And the food was crap.....i think weshould have gotten some of our money back do to poor service
