Reviews for Hotel La Malle Poste

Review 1:noisy children in the spa area

Review 2:the friendly, personal service, very accommodating, delicious food, lovely atmosphere, romantic bold hole, private safe parking, sauna, cosy bedroom

Review 3:The hotel restaurant and bar isn't open on Mondays and Tuesdays which means that there are no public areas in which to relax. This was disappointing because we would have enjoyed a more rounded experience.

Review 4:This is a beautiful and charming property positioned at the bottom of the main street and close to bars and restaurants. We loved our room and the breakfast was sensational.

Review 5:We would have preferred a little more self- service on the breakfast buffet, but the quality of food and service were excellent.

Review 6:The location was perfect for touring the Ardennes, the hotel was beautiful and charming and the restaurant was exceptional. The couple who own and run it were very friendly. We already look forward to our next visit.

Review 7:Bed (linen) and bathroom (shower) not as proper as it should have been, blow drier dusty. Hotel does not accept credit card payment (Visa) though stated otherwise in the offer.

Review 8:The location of the hotel in the centre of the city, free parking, the romantic underneath wine cellar corridor to the restaurant.

Review 9:The only thing lacking lacking was a work surface in the room

Review 10:A beautifully appointed hotel with wonderful facilities, furnishings and an excellent restaurant

Review 11:Steam room was out of service :(

Review 12:Breakfast is a must; complete and good value for money. Restaurant is fabulous, expensive, but worth it. You need to reserve in advance. Stayed in a garden view room, quiet, big room, comfortable beds. You receive bathrobes and sleepers free of charge to go to the sauna area. Remember this is a 3 star hotel, but I feel it deserves more.

Review 13:Beautiful hotel and gardens. Didn't get a chance to try restaurant for evening meal but breakfast excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Town centre location. Great facilities but didn't get a chance to try them all as only stayed for 1 night - has pool, sauna and fitness centre. Plenty of parking.

Review 14:Room was warmer than we would have liked, might have had AC but couldn't see it.

Review 15:Suggest 4 stars more appropriate than 3. Had a very pleasant evening meal in the Restaurant, in fact it was the best meal we had on our 3 week trip.

Review 16:The staff were unfriendly and not very welcoming. The rooms were quite small and very hot. Little things too like failure to replenish toilet paper. No children's menu.

Review 17:The room was comfortable and the pool was good.

Review 18:The lady who seems to be the boss obviously found us not enough classy. We got different rooms than we had booked (streetview instead of garden view) but did not tell us so. After we commented she started telling us that we paid só much less than the regular rate and how could we be dissatisfied...? Indeed the rooms were very nice, but the nose in the air is not the way it should be.If you think you sell your rooms too cheap, don't do it!

Review 19:Classic comfort. A bit posh, but stylish.

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:Drinks in the tranquil garden before dinner. Excellent dinner in the restaurant and superb friendly service. We were able to park our classic car under cover in the spacious private car park at the back of the hotel

Review 22:- Most of the personnel does not speak English, French only. Some basic French phrases will help you in this hotel. - Some noise between rooms

Review 23:- Fantastic rooms, very cozy and romantic - Incredible breakfast! - Very nice personnel despite some language barriers, solved with a smile! - Nice pool, sauna and fitness area - Wonderful garden - Large private (and free) parking - Very central in Rochefort - The hotel dog!

Review 24:Room was clean and comfortable but whirlpool bath jets were not clean and dirt came out of them, into the water, when switched on.

Review 25:Breakfast was very good and varied.

Review 26:A festival on our day of arrival made It DIFFICULT to find.

Review 27:Facilities were excellent with an interesting walk from our room to the dining room through the wine cellars.Excellent dining and outdoor relaxing areas. Good food

Review 28:We stayed on a very warm night and ,as a result, experiened a bad night's sleep. the bedrooms need air conditioning.

Review 29:Interesting hotel and an excellent restaurant. Friendly professional staff.

Review 30:There was no air conditioning in the hotel (+35 outside !). We were given a ventilator but it stopped at 1 by night due to a power cut. The restaurant was closed but we weren't informed of it before arriving to the hotel (booking.com informed us that restaurant was closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when actually it was closed for "congé annuel"). Poor willingness to serve even only drinks in the garden in the evening.

Review 31:Magnificent buildings, marvellous garden, tasteful interiors, everything beautifully restored. Cosy and nice room in the adjacent building (La maison du cocher). Nice swimming pool and sauna area, easy parking. Very good service at arrival and during the breakfast.

Review 32:Didn't have breakfast as not prepared to pay 30 euros on top of 100 euros for room. Bathroom design - bath taps on corner bath difficult to access without climbing in bath. Advertised with balcony - but only partially accessible (unless Twiggy and then only standing room).

Review 33:Large room, nice bed, good facilities (pool, fitness), nice furnishings

Review 34:Room was a bit dirty. It was great to have a jacuzzi bath in the room, however, when we used it - it was so dirty, lots of black bits came out of the vents. Needs a service! Shame as this let down what could have been a ten out of ten visit.

Review 35:great location, lovely building and great size room with excellent views. V good swimming pool. V nice staff.

Review 36:-The management who would not allow us to use the hotel facilities on our second evening.due to a private function but then charged us the full hotel rate! -Stale breakfast. -Shabby bedrooms in annexe and meanly stocked.

Review 37:-Easy parking -Central location. -Nice gardens

Review 38:A romantic location, old mansion with a wine cellar, exquisite restaurant - if you have time, highly recommended! Great breakfast. We had a jacuzzi in our room.

Review 39:double bed were two singles stuck together and on the small size - some rooms have dogs wasn't really nice to see them do their thing in the sun garden :-(

Review 40:Great garden terras - good whine list (thou good middle priced whine is missing - nice kitchen and great chef - great staff - and excellent whine card - only had asperges but they were amazing

Review 41:Very friendly and helpful, staff, very nice breakfast and their restaurant is superb. Indoor heated pool is very nice and has a beautiful terrace. The room itself couldn't be better either: very spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and silent. The bathtub is quite big and fits two people easily.

Review 42:The Wi-Fi didn't work in our rooms

Review 43:The village is gorgeous and the hotel is just perfect. The landlady was very friendly and I think amused by our attempt at speaking French! The hotel itself is gorgeous and easy to find with free parking. The facilities are great - swimming pool and sauna\steamroom. Beautiful gardens to sit out and drink beer on a sunny day. Our room was beautiful. So clean and chic, the decor was stunning and it even had a jacuzzi bath! It was a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back!

Review 44:For some reason the personnel didn't make us feel very welcome in the hotel and restaurant. Bed was good but separate duvets for a double bed is annoying (although seems to be standard in Belgium).

Review 45:Dinner and breakfast are very good and room was nice, and so is the pool and surrounding area.

Review 46:Unfortunately the restaurant was not open on the night we stayed, was so looking forward to sampling their delights

Review 47:Great to stay in a place that felt homely rather than like a hotel

Review 48:Xmas in Wallonia is really low season with most of the interesting places shut-down and priority given to the local hunters . Therefore walking in forests is severely restricted !

Review 49:Staff were very professional ; good cuisine with great value for money and a fine wine cellar.

Review 50:Don't complain about the wine! Snotty Maitresse made us feel very uncomfortable, kept saying that it was fine, and all had to be done in French so spoiled our evening

Review 51:spacious modern rooms, stylish décor, mixture of very old and very new intriguing. Excellent dinner if a tad expensive

Review 52:The 3rd bed was a bit flimsy.

Review 53:It was easy to find in the centre of the town. Internally clean and tidy with loads of extras and the rooms were furnished to a high spec. Staff very polite and helpful

Review 54:Pictures of the hotel are a bit deceiving as the front of the hotel is right on the road. This didnt bother us at all but i didnt feel the need to not show how it really looked from the entrance! The breakfast was a bit too expensive so we didnt take it.

Review 55:Free access to the swimming pool, steam room and sauna which was very relaxing. Bedroom and Bathroom were nicely decorated and comfortable. ample parking directly behind the hotel.

Review 56:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room we had was at the rear with a jacuzzi bath and shower attachment. The room decor was excellent. Comfy bed and lots of space. The hotel has a swimming pool, turkish bath and sauna if you wish. Ample free parking and a lift at the car park level.

Review 57:A beautiful hotel right in the centre of Rochefort run by the friendliest staff - and one handsome dog. The pool and steam room are wonderful after a day exploring the area.

Review 58:-Attitude of the owner- she was not helpful and could even be considered rude when checking our reservation - We were given a small room with a window starting higher than my eye level -practically in the basement - and had to pay an outrageous 190 euros for that for one night - there was not enough air circulation so the room was really humid. The bedding and linen were smelling- no airco either. It was facing the main street of Rochefort which was busy at night. I couldn't sleep the entire night. - we had chosen the hotel since it had a restaurant but it was full. There was no warning in the web site that a reservation would be needed to ensure a place for hotel customers. When we asked for a restaurant recommendation the lady arrogantly mumbled something in her mouth and it was apparent that she couldn't care less - the pool was cold and sauna wasn't even 70 degrees. The steam bath engine roared but failed to generate proper steam

Review 59:The building and the interior decoration - really first class! Staff also very helpful. We did not have dinner but the restaurant and menu looked great. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Review 60:Booking.com advertise this hotel as English speaking. One chap speaks no English and the other speaks very little but did try to his credit. The rooms don't have a kettle which seems such a simple thing to provide in this day and age. Also rooms should have a fan as they can be a little stuffy. Wifi is intermittent in all rooms. Three star hotel that could easily be a four star.

Review 61:Location was great. Spacious rooms. Pool and garden lovely. The bike path to Houyet is awesome and the guy at the bike shop was super helpful.

Review 62:Noise of the road in front of the hotel

Review 63:Very Friendly Staff

Review 64:The Room was attractive and comfortable. The Restaurant was an elegant and relaxing way to end days of touring. Would cheerfully return.

Review 65:Beautiful place, very comfortable, outstanding restaurant, accommodating staff. Felt luxurious at a very reasonable price.

Review 66:Needs proper bedding.

Review 67:Swimming pool.

Review 68:Beautiful hotel, carefully and quirkily decorated and furnished

Review 69:Some traffic noise, even at the rear.

Review 70:Lovely cosy room in the old part of the building. First class fine dining restaurant. Nice spa.

Review 71:Hige Windows - Street noice

Review 72:Rooms a bit too warm

Review 73:Everything, especially the patio outside. Excellent restaurant

Review 74:Beautiful setting, very conveniently located within town centre. Lovely building and friendly staff

Review 75:the room was to hot with no fresh air, in combination with streetnoise

Review 76:the restaurant

Review 77:No AC (it was a very very hot day)

Review 78:Location Friendly staff Breakfast Sauna

Review 79:The hotel is very nice from the room to the dining room, all was perfect.

Review 80:no air conditioning

Review 81:everything else

Review 82:nice stuff... nice hotel... nice atmosphere...

Review 83:Rien

Review 84:Tout

Review 85:Nice property and garden, tastefull decoration

Review 86:Amazing garden, downtown location

Review 87:Just a unique place, superb food, extremely well decorated and laid out.

Review 88:Not even a complementary water in the room at quite a high price.

Review 89:Very nice place, high class furnishings.

Review 90:Adore the decor of the hotel......very charming

Review 91:Nothing.

Review 92:Charming hotel in the town. Good parking, lovely garden, swimming pool. Excellent breakfast.

Review 93:Beautiful hotel, Amazing food! Loved everything!

Review 94:The location, in the centre of Rochefort

Review 95:Helpful staff...

Review 96:Village. To be avoided. Reception. Our booking was not in the system. After a long search 'we were found' in an ordner. A young big dog was 'too friendly' during that search. Room. No pencil and paper qround. TV showed us images of very bad quality. NO AIRCO...in that room 10 with very low ceiling. Owners. Taking their sunbath in front of the clients with their sometimes unattached dog; our dog attached. Price/Quality. Your 'deal' 90 euros instead of 110 doesn't mean much: regular price is 110 icluding 2 breakfasts at 15 each... Menu price of 35 without much choice is highly exagerated; but Porsche and horses must be paid for no doubt. No wines under 30 euro.

Review 97:The garden.

Review 98:As someone else mentioned, the picture is very misleading. This is actually the back yard of a hotel on the main street of Rochefort.

Review 99:There is an excellent pizzeria right next door!

Review 100:The location, the room, the service, the welcome and the food! Excellent restaurant, not cheap, but excellent. And there are lots of alternatives all within walking distance in town. But if you're only staying one night budget to eat in, it's great.

Review 101:wifi didn't work in the room the pool was really cold

Review 102:lovely hotel, very cosy and charming great terrass where you can have drinks. we also loved the cosy sofa corner for the aperitive. excellent restaurant. A real value for money offer for such gastronomic cuisine. sauna & hamman to relax

Review 103:Any other bad reviews as they are a joke. Nothing to dislike.

Review 104:Everything, wonderfull hotel, warm comfortable, excellent amenities, fabulous restaurant, lovely breakfast. Frankly it's a superb place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. Shame other hotels don't try as hard as this. Thank you.

Review 105:The decor was a bit confused. Boxed bunnies in a room clearly set up for adults was a bit contradictory. The attached gourmet restaurant didn't quite deliver with the food although the decor was elegant (so was the bill). The location is difficult to access in that the hotel is on a busy bend. Parking is accessed from the rear and hard to find.

Review 106:The room was spacious. It was a pleasant stay in a hotel that managed to squeeze in every possible facility in a small area.

Review 107:This is a wonderful hotel, and far better than we were expecting for the cost. The facilities are excellent, especially the sauna and pool (which was a generous size). The bathroom was also excellent and had a whirlpool bathtub. We ate in the restaurant, which was of excellent quality although the price matched the quality! The wine cellar is very well stocked. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 108:lack of headboard on the bed 2 single mattresses instead of a double The evening meal menu was too expensive for us to eat there. The breakfasts were not included in the room price. No tea making facilities in bedroom. It was overall too expensive.

Review 109:staff were excellent

Review 110:What a wonderful hotel! I didn't want to leave! The building is beautiful, my room was amazing, comfortable and had a lovely view out over the gardens. The breakfast was fantastic. The staff were really nice and helpful even with the language barrier.

Review 111:When we arrived around 16:00hrs there was no staff around and we had to phone for someone to arrive to be shown our room. The restaurant was closed that night, so was the bar. During our stay there was no staff to offer anything. Compared to the very appealing website this was one of the most disappointing stays we have ever had. Felt cheated.

Review 112:The room was comfortable and a decent bed. Location was good.

Review 113:Bed with no headboard. It was a pity that the restaurant was closed.

Review 114:A very comfortable hotel with interesting decor. The staff were very helpful, the breakfasts delicious and the location excellent.

Review 115:It was more than 5stars although the owners were on holiday the grandmother and the owners daughter looked after us only problem was the language but the daughter spoke a bit would have loved to stay longer

Review 116:Sauna was turned on half an hour after the wellness was open. Cold swimming pool.

Review 117:The Suite is great, incredible bubblebath, very nice staff, good breakfast, nice garden

Review 118:Very noisy. Our room had a paperthin door, you could hear everythingfrom the hall. We could not sleep.this is a very beautiful hotel, but no matter how nice the hotel is, if at the end of the day you could not get a good rest, forget it! i wont come back.

Review 119:The hotel was clean and nicely decorated.

Review 120:Breakfast was not included and costs an additional 15euros/person. Room had definitely been smoked in previously. Itreally smelled terribly.

Review 121:Location was good on the mainstreet of Rochefort. Beautiful garden andeating area if you choose to eat at the hotel. Beautiful hotel if youstay in the main building.

Review 122:I didnt like the room on the street side. Lots of noise because of the traffic, No air conditioning so it was very hot, and the toilets were not very clean.

Review 123:Nice swimming pool, the staff were friendly.

Review 124:We picked the hotel for a stop over on a motorcycle tour. Our one regret is that we did not stay for longer because it was excellent in every respect !

The Fine Print
