Reviews for The Brunei Hotel
Review 1:I asked for some milk to make the tea in my room. A Guy in the reception said they did not have the milk and I could go and buy from outside shop will take 5 minutes walk. Also no laundry service in the hotel.
Review 2:location
Review 3:Very limited parking space. Too inconvenient. Smiles, greetings or other warm & friendly gestures are absolutely in absent. No replishments unless requested for.
Review 4:The location was fair. It was convenient & easy accessible for shopping & eateries by foot. The breakfast was good.
Review 5:we were a bit disappointed after being in such lovely hotels in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Borneo (Kota Kinabalu), but you have to acccept that Brunei is more expensive than Malaysia in general and that's what you get for this price, I have tried to get a room in the Radisson Hotel Darussalam but I was to slow and then it was fully booked,
Review 6:the room was ok but nothing extraordinary, they have a smoking area in their yard which is important in Brunei since smoking is forbidden everywhere on the streets,
Review 7:The mattress was very hard and pillows old and lumpy!
Review 8:The location is really, really excellent for exploring Brunei. The rooms are simple but clean and just what we needed. The breakfast is adequate. The staff are great.
Review 9:Limited free wifi, small double bed, strange selection at breakfast (pasta carbonara!)
Review 10:Great central location - walking distance to the main sights and the jetty. Has HBO on in the rooms and the hotel has a funky design. Great bathroom too!
Review 11:bedding shall be improved (such as bed sheet and pillows) poor wifi in room simple bfast
Review 12:Location Lobby wifi Clean Very friendly and helpful staff Very big and useful umbrella borrowed from reception
Review 13:Not a bad experience but whilst the room was very nice to look at there were no drawers for clothing and the area around washbasin had little room for washing and shaving gear
Review 14:convenience of location friendly staff
Review 15:- the uppest roomfloor could be a bit noisy if there is an event on weekends
Review 16:- very central (close to the busstation, most restaurants, nice markets and the waterfront... - good breakfast - nice and new
Review 17:The hotel caters to business people, they had no information for tourists, or wrong one They did not know that mosques are closed on Thursdays. Brunei has very little to offer to tourists.
Review 18:Breakfast, location, newspaper
Review 19:Wifi was ok, but not great, and only for two devices.
Review 20:This is the best hotel in the centre, the closest to the mosque and interesting places. The bus from Miri stops 100 meters from the hotel.
Review 21:traffic noise may depend whether your room overlooks the market and bit disappointed with the charge of 30 dollars each way for the airport shuttle - the Capital Residence made no charge
Review 22:clean modern decor and good meals especially the evening meals friendly staff though they could perhaps do more to help with information about visits
Review 23:The floor of the shower was not clean enough: some hairs of a previous guest were still there. The glass walls of the shower were not adjoined well so that water could pass through onto the bathroom floor. The temperature of the water somehow had a life of its own. I would have liked a closed wardrobe for my clothes (enough space in the room!), now there were only coat hangers in the open. Dinner at the restaurant was a quiet affair with not many guests; the quality of the (halal) food was decent, not exceptional.
Review 24:Nice hotel, especially the interior, and conveniently located in the centre of BSB and very close to some interesting sights. Not very close to government offices though, but distances are not far in BSB. My De Luxe room was spacious with a large and comfortable king bed, nice bathroom (although only room for one at the wash basin). Very quiet. Decent breakfast included, although Western food choices were not abundant. WiFi good, although at times slowing down. Staff very friendly and obliging. A few hours overstay were granted without any problem and at no extra charge.
Review 25:Excellent location if you're in the downtown section of Bandar. From there you can just about walk to everything (will need a taxi if you want to go to the shopping mall area). Staff is well trained and very helpful and friendly. They knew exactly where I should find the bus in the morning for Sarawak (two blocks away). Accommodations are expensive in Brunei--especially compared to the rest of the island of Borneo--so considering what's available in Bandar, this hotel makes a good choice, although a bit over my budget. The room was super comfortable and had everything I needed. The buffet breakfast was exceptionally good.
Review 26:Everything was great. Service was excellent. Room and bath lovely. Location perfect. Steps from Bus station to port, Miri bus stop and water taxi.
Review 27:Bathroom basin top was too small to place toiletries on. Lights in room too dim - especially in the bathroom. Shower water kept going hot and cold.
Review 28:Location. Quietness of rooms. Comfort. Breakfast facilities. Friendliness of staff.
Review 29:The showering set could be more comprehensive. Also the bathroom was a bit small.
Review 30:the Hotel is convenient to reach and is closed to many museums and traffic junction in town. Great hospitality. People always had this gorgeous smile. Free Wifi and decent breakfast. Snacks in the minibar were really delicious. I left some stuff there and they kept it for me.
Review 31:The only negative for us was that this hotel doesn't have a pool
Review 32:Right from check in, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the included breakfast was delicious especially the omelette station, the location was fantastic
Review 33:I can't fault anything about this hotel.
Review 34:This is a lovely design hotel with excellent staff, who are both friendly and professional. It is well located within walking distance of many sights. My room was on the third floor and it had a nice view over the river and a small market. The hotel arranged airport pick-up for me.
Review 35:- No swimming pool facilities
Review 36:- Central location with easy access to bus station and taxi stand - Modern & clean rooms, complimentary wifi and breakfast buffet - Staffs were very friendly and eager to assist customers
Review 37:Very friendly and helpful staff.great location. Would definitely stay here again
Review 38:Staff are very nice. Hotel has good location, right across the Tamu Kianggeh and walking distance from the Omar mosque and water village.
Review 39:Only had wi fi in the lobby
Review 40:Clean room big bed really good breakfast close to where you want to be
Review 41:Staff polite but not helpful Expensive

Review 47:nice location, great comfort, friendly and informative staff
Review 48:Location, free wifi, comfortable facilities.
Review 49:Delicious food in the restaurant! Go up river to see proboscis monkeys!
Review 50:Service Quality
Review 51:the rooms are dark, small, however we expected only a basic hotel at the price, so it was what was expected
Review 52:Location was good
Review 53:You can't get an alcoholic drink in your hotel, which we expect when we are on holiday.
Review 54:Location
Review 55:staff is smile all the time, hotel location is really strategic.
Review 56:basic necessities like shampoo, shower gel, tooth brush and body lotion not there. on request only.
Review 57:Free shutter service to shopping centre
Review 58:The comfort pillows in the room are in a desperate need of a clean.
Review 59:The staff was very helpful.
Review 60:The bathroom were small in size. Was very surprised there was no shower gel provided.
Review 61:The cleanliness of the room and throughout the hotel.
Review 62:Rooms are a little small for those travelling with children.
Review 63:Location near shops and Brunei's oldest Mosque.
Review 64:I loved everything about this hotel! Staf was very helpfull with al our questions. Food was great! Location was great!
Review 65:nothing
Review 66:convenient location. spotlessly clean.big bathroom with good shower. free breakfast.
Review 67:The quality of service, staff friendliness, how the room was cleaned everytime, felt like I was walking into the hotel for the first time.
Review 68:Staff are friendly and helpful. Great location, being the only hotel in town, so can walk to everything.
Review 69:Excellent location, nice room, lovely bath products!
Review 70:Excellent place to stay
Review 71:The Staff is extremly helpful
Review 72:Very bland room interior given the stylish exterior and lobby. A bit pricey but not many choices
Review 73:Location, friendly staff, nice bath, generous size
Review 74:When the tv in the next room was on I could hear it through the wall, or more precisely through the adjoining door.
Review 75:The hotel is in central BSB, a great location. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and all speak english.
Review 76:The wifi but this I believe is a Brunei problem in there only being 1 provider. In the lobby it worked well most of the time.
Review 77:2 chaps on reception Wafie & Hidaki were excellent, extremely helpful. They went out of their way to give an added service - Hidaki lent me his mobile to call the UK for medical assistance when I couldn't get a signal - you can't teach this - going above and beyond - I was very appreciative. Despite the cost this is Brunei - it is more than reasonable for a top class hotel, clean, comfortable and good breakfast
Review 78:Top hotel, the included breakfast was very good with lots of choices, good opening times as well from 6.30 to 10.30 am. Also liked the free Borneo Times.
Review 79:A little pricey, but reasonable value for Brunei.
Review 80:Within walking distance of water front, main mosque and local markets (can see them from the hotel). Water taxis very nearby.
Review 81:Fabulous position, in the middle of town. Staff were great especially regarding late checkout. Very reasonable tariff. No negative comments at all. Would highly recommend.
Review 82:- there were ants in my room and later found crawling in my bed. I'd like to note that this isn't a housekeeping problem as staff cleaned my room everyday. This is more of a maintenance issue - there were a lot of cracks/gaps where the floor and the walls met, which is where I'm assuming the ants came from. They need to seal these up to prevent further infestation. I was also disappointed that all they offered was a free ride to the airport (in a van full of already paying passengers). A complimentary or discounted room would have been far more appropriate in this instance, especially as they were unable to move me to another room. Unfortunately this incident really let the hotel down. - no business centre - so no place to use computers or print documents - no currency exchange within the hotel
Review 83:- location right in the centre of Bandar (BSB) - free wifi - good breakfast selection - hot shower - clean, modern rooms - friendly and polite housekeeping staff - all staff speak good English
Review 84:Bath towel should be large or xl size. Should have centralised switch for all the lamp near bed. Toilet bowl area not comfortable for big size people.no newspaper for our room.
Review 85:Good b/fast and all the staff very helping.
Review 86:It was more expensive than the other hotels, but well worth it. The restaurant meals were on the expensive side but the 25% discount for hotel guests really helped.
Review 87:Excellent hotel in an excellent location, near the waterfront and right beside the market. Modern facilities, in-room safe worked well, free wireless internet from the room which worked really well. Excellent choices for breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Air conditioning worked well and was quiet. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 88:No pool, and this may be critical in Brunei, once there's not much to do.
Review 89:You have everything you need, not more not less. Close to the Bus central.
Review 90:Just a couple of things could be improved. Restaurant dinner menu andstandard of food could be improved. And on our return to Brunei we wereonly three people (as opposed to the first time when there were 3 of usand 2 rooms), I booked a family room on the net which was verymisleading. It sounded like a larger room to accomodate 3 beds but whenwe returned it was only the twin room we originally had with an extrabed 'shoved' in. In order to accommodate the extra beds both thebedside tables and lights were squashed over near the wardbobe;unusable. So as there were no ceiling lights the three of us, lined uplike sardines, had to read by torchlight. I was dissappointed that theroom was mis-represented, and as the hotel was fully booked we were notable to change arrangements. Other than that we were happy
Review 91:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Breakfastadequate. Pre-arranged transfers all went smoothly with a pick upwaiting for us both times we arrived in Brunei. Very central position.
Review 92:There is nothing not to like.
Review 93:the staff, facilities and location were fantastic. The prices were very reasonable for hotel prices. We ordered room service and it was arguably the best room service meal i have ever had.
Review 94:Daughter contracted appendicitis and admitted to hospital, hotel wereamazing, looked after us, took us to hospital, visited her and sortedour extended stay, can't thank them enough, they were amazing, thankyou Lovina and \j don xxx
Review 95:I found the staff not only very professional, but also genuinelyfriendly. The room was large and clean with an excellent, largebathroom. The Brunei Hotel is excellently located, right in the citycentre, but still very quiet and peaceful.
Review 96:Also had an inside room which was same but couldnt look out.
Review 97:Location n I had a lovely room on the third floof overlooking the rivern Friday markets.five star with even hairdryer, soaps etcgot a boat tosee the proboscis monkies at 8 am for 20$ one hour and got photos.p
Review 98:The hotel was better than we expected so nothing disappointed. Wethought we would miss a pool but we didn'T.
Review 99:We loved the position - close to market, Mosque, proboscis monkeys, cheap and good local cafes, museums, etc. a nice touch was the freeminibar. We also enjoyed the complementary shuttle to Gadong nightmarket. The Malay Technology Museum was close by local bus (no 39) andwas great.
Review 100:We were initially given a room over the entrance with no view but changed this with no problem. The breakfast wasn't very exciting but was adequate.
Review 101:Clean, comfortable, modern, efficient and very good value. No character but we didn't need that in Bandar. Perfect when you arrive from the plane (25BD taxi) and don't want any hassle. Above all - the very best location to see the capital as right next to the river and local market (and also bus station). Would certainly go back there as the best base to visit Bandar and surrounds.
Review 102:The front desk trainees are not knowledgeable, just nice smile, but not answer much what you asked. Some of the rooms are along the street and could be noisy.
Review 103:The staff are generally good, the restaurant service, staff are quite nice. The location is close to waterfront and the water taxi is always at hand.
Review 104:Room overlooking inner yard - ask for room with a view.
Review 105:Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast included in rates. Other meals good value and quality.
Review 106:Personal in the front desk, may give better information to the tourist.F. e. I arrive one wenesday, perfect day to visit mosques, but they did'nt explain me that the next day, thursday, they are closed for tourist.
Review 107:Perfect siuation, central, close to bus station, waterfront, market,...Excellent for tourist people. Room with comfort. Excellent breakfast
Review 108:Our shuttle booking from the airport did not happen. We had to ring the hotel to remind the reception. Very little in the way of an apology although we had arrived after a long flight and Waited for the best part of an hour for transport from the airport to the hotel. Although the hotel has been modernised, there is very little character now - you could be anywhere! We preferred the previous version with local people when it was less expensive.
Review 109:Position of hotel very convenient for city sights. Restaurant was good for meal but breakfast only nodded to the international style typical now of the hotel ambíence.
Review 110:Nothing really, but there seems to be no facilities other than a room and a lobby and restaurant - not that you need more.
Review 111:Super location, but it was the staff and service and the smiles that were exemplary. We would definitely go there again. They even move a bollard so you can park right outside the front door.
Review 112:We didn't have much time, but staff helped us to arrange few trips toutilize the time we have for max. There's a free shuttle bus to themarket. On our last day we went to the rain forrest and came back around15 (to pick up our bags after checking-out) completely wet. The staffoffered themselves to allow us to shower in one of the room.
Review 113:Location Snacks in the fridge Breakfast was excellent Staff would always smile and say hi
Review 114:None
Review 115:Centrally located. Very near to central bus station.
Review 116:Excellent location ,friendly and helpful staff, central location .Definitely would recommend to everyone.
Review 117:I liked the hotel. It is clean, good location, walking distance to major attractions. Hotel is clean, good breakfast. I would stay there again.
Review 118:Great location, great price, super friedly staff.
Review 119:friendly and professional staff; located right in the city center; breakfast included; nice rooms.
Review 120:Maybe a bit pricey, but for Brunei, I guess it's in line.
Review 121:very nice comfortable place, centrally located.
Review 122:Excellent location, friendly staff, free shuttle to night market, close to all sightseeing
