Reviews for Boat Hotel Matylda
Review 1:- really tiny rooms (as cabins on a boat tend to be small...)
Review 2:- Great Location: City Center within walking distance; - Friendly and kompetent staff; - Unique experience: a botel on the Moldavia!
Review 3:I totally love this botel. The room is classy, with excellent view to the river. It is the first boat hotel I ever stayed in, and it will not be my last! The restaurant is also terrific, with delicious menu and nice staff. Will surely stay here again if I have a chance.
Review 4:Situated on the River Vltava in the beautiful Prague this was such a lovely place to spend our Christmas. Cosy, clean and a little quirky with it being a boat. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, and the adjoining restaurant served great food in a wonderful setting.
Review 5:Staying on a Botel was something different and interesting from all the other hotels you can stay in. Loved having Brekky on the boat overlooking the river. Upgraded us from the the junior suite - thanks guys !!!
Review 6:I think there is room for improvement in the variety of the breakfast..
Review 7:We liked a lot the amazing view to the river and the very elegant combination of wood and leather of the botel..
Review 8:Nothing!
Review 9:The Botel is perfectly situated for sight seeing - the staff being very helpful and pleasant as to where to head out to. The room was lovely and breakfast gave plenty of choice of both hot and cold dishes. We also ate in the restaurant and found the quality of the meal to be excellent.
Review 10:Staff chatting loudly during breakfast
Review 11:Lovely setting. Both room and restaurant clean and well maintained. Reception staff very helpful. Would recommend if you want something different to a standard hotel.
Review 12:Everything was great
Review 13:My parents had an anniversary of 30 years in November and I thought the best present for them is to have two days away in a nice place like Prague! They are from Latvia and I live permanently in London, so all booking and reservation i did from abroad. I wanted to keep it a suprise, so I needed to talk about the details via email with the hotel team. I must mention it was the best experience I had, arranging a hotel. All stuff was very helpful ( my parents also confirmed this after this short holiday). The hotel manager David Dvorak was really responsible and great with assisting about details which were important for me. I highly recommend this lovely hotel if you would like to stay in the heart of Prague and have high standard of customer service. Happy customer :)
Review 14:A little noisy at times at night because of proximity to the street but the location and ambience made up for that.
Review 15:Very cool staying right on the Vltava. Easy walk to anywhere in central Prague. Very nice restaurant as well as small but comfortable rooms.
Review 16:Was looking for a last minute, reasonably priced room for a night for a solo traveller and came across boat hotel matylda.. the idea of a boat hotel attracted me so I took a chance and nothing disappointed me. Friendly staff, awesome restaurant and bar, and the room was just about perfect.. so complains! Would definitely recommend to both solo and couples are group travellers!
Review 17:Needed chairs in the room! Room too small for chairs.Bed low and sloping so not easy to relax in the evening! Could do with a little larger lounge area, there is a small area in reception.
Review 18:Location right on the water.Easy access to all areas of Prague. Great breakfast!
Review 19:An experience you may wanna try. Remember to ask for a room with river view, that is essential. They also provide a convenient transfer service from and to the airport at competitive prices. Our favorite place to eat was also two steps away from the hotel.
Review 20:There are two boats and it wasn't clear which one we booked, and there wasn't clear indication where to check in (there's a joint reception for both boats but it's not mentioned or indicated anywhere).
Review 21:The location is great, and the boat itself is well equipped and maintained.
Review 22:- stuff on the front desk was not so kind as i awaited - breakfast should be better with options to choose
Review 23:Original hotel with nice atmospehere. Good location in city center of Prague
Review 24:I didn't get a river view - my room faced the footpath and when I enquires I was told I needed to specify a river view with the booking.
Review 25:The bed was really comfy and the shower was great. Lovely breakfast looking out on the river.
Review 26:The location was perfect for me. Right next to highway and tram stop. 2 stops away from charles bridge. Across the steets there are minimart and vietnese restaurant. Also near with the famous u fleku. The hotel is unique and clean. Cleaner than i expected. The restaurant is really nice. Breakfast was good. Staff was okay. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Review 27:When we booked this botel for 3 nights we saw the picture of our room and according to this we took our decision. This picture showed a room with windows all around, very specious and clear When we arrived to the botel we were told two things: 1. That room was available for only 2 of the 3 nights that we reserved. 2. The picture showing in Booking.com is not the junior suite we booked. So we have to chose to find under rain another hotel or accept a tiny room. They adjusted the price and gave us a credit in the restaurant to make up for the mistake. The real truth is that we stayed in a tiny and uncomfortable room, not what we have expected.
Review 28:The staff was fabulous, ready to help and very nice.
Review 29:No long mirror or tea/coffee making facility in rooms :(
Review 30:Charming hotel only a few minutes from all major attractions ..lovely staff ..good breakfast ..very quiet .. comfy beds
Review 31:We had small but comfortable room. For few days during our stay it was cold outside but it was nicely warm in the hotel. It was first time when I was sleeping on the boat and I was afraid that it will sway but it didn't. It felt like it was put on the ground. I also liked that I could see the fishes from the window and liked to watch swans during breakfasts. Next to the hotel there is a tram stop. You have to go to stops to get in front of Charles Bridge and the Old Town. Its so close that we just walked along the river for the most of the time.
Review 32:The only thing missing is tea making facilities in the rooms.
Review 33:This is the second time we have stayed here and on both occasions we have very much enjoyed our stay.
Review 34:Convenient position Nice setting Staff were efficient, helpful and friendly The Hotel organised our transfers to and from the airport with a brilliant taxi company who also took us racing to Pardubice on Sunday
Review 35:I can't really think of anything bad other than the duvet being too small. I had a double bed but a single duvet which didn't make sense to me. The room was very small, as expected, but it would have been nice to have enough space to put my bag on something other than the floor. It would have been nice to have a river-facing room.
Review 36:It is without a doubt a very unique experience staying on a boat. The staff were super friendly and the man carried my heavy bag downstairs to my cabin, which I really appreciated. The breakfast is lovely with fantastic 180 degree views of the river and castle.
Review 37:It was lacking in some 4 star necessities (no room service so a tea/coffee tray a must have option). The room very functional but cramped. Everything worked well - great shower too.
Review 38:Great Location, unique hotel experience, comfort, general ambiance, view of the river from our room (as opposed to the street), safe. BREAKFAST WAS SUPERB Privately run on board Italian restaurant was very good (and always full so booking essential) but would have liked some local options on the menu... Easy access to all transport needs - got to know the surrounding area well - has lots of restaurants in the side streets. All staff very considerate and efficient. Will stay here again (a bigger suite may be worth the extra spend)
Review 39:The people were very friendly and extremely helpful, they added those little extra touches...like umbrellas when it was raining. They answered any questions we had without hesitation. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to go back.
Review 40:Room was quite small, but had everything I needed.
Review 41:It was away from the main tourist crush but close enough to easily walk to everything. It was really nice being by the water in the middle of a major city.
Review 42:We booked a reserved parking space & received a confirmation but when we arrived the receptionist could find nothing about it.
Review 43:Spacious, well laid out, easy access to everything.
Review 44:The bathroom was a bit cramped, but it is on a boat after all.
Review 45:The location was great, half a block from the "Dancing House". Two blocks from the Charles bridge. Accomodations were very comfortable, but a bit cramped. The staff was wonderful as was the restaurant.
Review 46:Only small drawback for us was lack of kettle in our suite for tea making
Review 47:Location Atmosphere Spacious(Junior Suite) Quality of breakfasts and dinner on sister boat and excellence of service especially David at the desk and wine waiter Michael in the restaurant (a passionate lover of quality wines from all over the world)
Review 48:Perfect location within walking distance of all attractions, metro and tram stations. Staff were fantastic, friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty to be welcoming and helpful. Stunning restaurant with top-class food. Wonderful ambience and a very clean, comfortable and cute room.
Review 49:The restaurant on the 2nd night seemed very rushed and inpersonal compared to our visit the previous evening
Review 50:The location upon the river and the fact it was central to what we wanted to do
Review 51:It was all great, no pmplaints.
Review 52:This was the best decision we could have made. Our stay could not have been any better. The staff were all great and made my wife's birthday all the more special with a surprise dessert with a candle in it. Czech is a hard language to master but the staff all spoke great English. The location on the river was outstanding, waking up to swans at your window was nice. Food was always good, not a massive choice for breakfast but tge setting made up for that. We'll done Matylda.
Review 53:Four mates , four rooms, no complaints, four big smiles, highly recommended , great location , and we come to Prague every year en route to motorbike racing
Review 54:could have used brighter lights in my cabin
Review 55:Venue was a bit away from all major sites which was nice. Tram came often and was an easy ride. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They told my places that were not in the guidebooks. Restaurant was really good for dinner
Review 56:Loved the boat but a long walk to the town own and other attractions in Prague. If you don't like to walk then this may be too far from the many restaurants, shops and tourist spots
Review 57:Fabulous breakfast. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Wi fi was excellent
Review 58:My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the whole experience of staying a boat hotel. The room decor was fabulous, great shower & bed, location was brilliant (close to everything), staff friendly (I loved the 24h desk), river view was brill. We visited the restaurant and the food was amazing-as a guest of the hotel, you get a 10% discount. We got the last table on a Friday night so it's a busy place! Watching the sun go down and seeing the lights of the city from the boat was spectacular. We even got treated to fireworks from Petrin Hill (we paid extra for that-only kidding!!). Parking was a short walk away but easy to get to and we left the car for a little longer after checkout. I would highly recommend the Botel Matylda.
Review 59:Nothing
Review 60:Hotel was beautiful, with very friendly and helpful staff. Food in the restaurant was lovely, a little pricey for Prague but still a lot cheaper then home! In a great location nice and quiet but also close to trams and trains so easy to get around.
Review 61:Being on the river, we felt quite central to the city. Also useful to locate. Ordering a fresh omelette was a nice touch. Secure parking for our motorcycle was simply organised.
Review 62:the room was a little small, but considering it was just me and I was pretty much only in the room to sleep, I didn't really care. and to be honest, I have had smaller bathrooms in "normal" hotels, that was an impressive bathroom for a boat. There was no air conditioning, but you're right on the river, so unless it gets really hot, you really don't need it.
Review 63:The location was great. The only way it could be better is if it were also by the train station, but unfortunately you can't be by the train station and the river at the same time. but it is relatively close to a couple of metro stations, and there is a tram line right next to it. I couldn't consciously feel the boat moving, but I still got an amazing night's sleep. It was so cool to eat breakfast and watch the boats and swans go by on the river! Oh, and I should mention that the staff were not only really nice, but also very helpful. Two different reception desk staff gave me great advice about where to go and what to see.
Review 64:This was probably the most interesting hotel I have booked for my travels. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our favorite staff member is David. 10 star service! Professional, great tips and information about Prague, helpful with small requests - and a wonderful manner and style. Hotel Suite was very comfortable and accommodating for having a nice drink and snack in the room before going out into town. The breakfast and food at the next boat was excellent. Friendly and helpful service during meals. We will be back again! Thank you so much for making our stay memorable.
Review 65:Second stay here and just as good, quirky rooms, great breakfast and the guy on reception was one of the most helpful and nice receptionists I've ever encountered.Good location on the river, not a massive walk to centre of town.Good WiFi,comfy beds.
Review 66:there needs to be a sitting area just for hotel guests as very much needed, and mini bar needs to have low sugar drinks
Review 67:the ambiance of place is wonderful, located on river means in hot weather you never feel the temp, staff are excellent from house keeping right through nothing is too much hassle,
Review 68:A bit dark in the room with all lights on.
Review 69:Stayed in the Klotylda boat, downstairs in an executive room with windows facing the river. Really nice and clean room! No disturbing noise from outside. Staff was helpful and nice.
Review 70:Room could have had more space, the queen sized bed was pushed up against the wall.
Review 71:Unique setting. Great concept. Friendly knowledgeable helpful staff.
Review 72:Room was dockside so noisy (e.g. bottlebank). Room had no wardrobe or cupboards; it was very cosy and well decorated but super super tiny. Check room space and try to get the river side before committing to a booking.
Review 73:Cool to stay on this old style boat. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Review 74:Parking place could be closer, but it's a little problem.
Review 75:Very nice place. It's so easy to get to the nice places around the city. You must try the restaurant but remember to book a table
Review 76:We really enjoyed our time on these 2 gorgeous boats. Excellent room (was a suite), the restaurant was great, lovely food at good prices. And very helpful, friendly staff.
Review 77:There is a constant smell of food, mainly fried food, it obviously comes from the kitchen, and is so bad you almost have to run down the passage to get upstairs for fresh air. It permeated into the bathroom, so showering was claustrophobic, and putting on the bathroom fan made it worse.
Review 78:Nice room, very comfortable beds with crisp linen sheets, lovely view over the water.
Review 79:The 1st 3 nights I stayed in a single room which was small and the window faced the sidewalk. There wasn't another room available until my last night when I upgraded to a bigger room with a door opening to the river. I LOVED IT! If you stay there, stay in a room looking onto the river! The restaurant was wonderful for breakfast and dinner!
Review 80:DVD player didn't work, Don't ask for a plain omelette for breakfast. They cooked one for me the first 2 days and then refused the next 3. As this was our 30th Wedding Anniversary I did not make a fuss.
Review 81:Excellent location, within walking distance everything, fun to stay in a boat rather than a Hotel. Be careful what room you chose. We stayed in the Junior Suite. Evening Meal in Hotel excellent, could not fault it.
Review 82:Property may be limiting for guests with disabilities.
Review 83:The experience of staying at a Boat Hotel was more than memorable. The uniqueness added a special ambience to Prague from the start of our time there. The breakfasts were delectable and our dinner was as well. As guests of the hotel, the restaurant wait staff treated us very specially and that did not go unnoticed. We appreciated the special attention given to guests of the hotel, in a restaurant very popular for it's fine cuisine!
Review 84:No parking on site, but there is a garage within walking distance for 10 euros for overnight
Review 85:Location, interesting room being on a boat, service, free breakfast...
Review 86:The Botel is next to a main pedestrian walkway, which can be loud very late into the night (23:00 hrs). If you stay in the main boat (Matylda) you're below the restaurant, which could be noisy. At times, I felt my waiter at dinner was more interested in upselling me to increase the bill (and his tip) than in providing good service.
Review 87:Reception staff is very helpful, it's in a central location with easy access to other attractions like the Charles Bridge, the Castle, and old town. Rooms are sparkling clean. The restaurant is very good for dinner, albeit a bit pricey if you're budget-minded. Wi-Fi is fast.
Review 88:The room was at the lower deck looking out towards water. The view was not amazing, but more interesting. The rooms were dimly lit.
Review 89:The idea of staying in a boat was unique. The staff were friendly but not over the top. Location was not bad, tram stoped right outside the place and train station was about 5-6min walk away.
Review 90:Very friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable room. Great restaurant. Being able to leave our bags before check in and after check out. Actually being on the river.
Review 91:The location on the river is fabulous and only 20/25 mins from main sites We booked one of largest rooms, space was excellent and well equipped Breakfast in restaurant on boat of same name, superb choice, and would also recommend for evening meal Staff very helpful with directions and booking taxi to rail station
Review 92:Its an amazing experience. But try and get the rooms facing the river. Very helpful staff members. Also its centrally located. Charles bridge is five minutes walk. Old town square is walkable distance.
Review 93:Very cool atmosphere on the river there were lots of live music and outdoor restaurants. The hotel was excellent and not noisy at all. I would stay there again.
Review 94:I had a single room, and was surprised how tiny it was. It was at the bottom deck, so could hear every single step taken by other guests upstairs, which woke me up few times during the night. Definitely worth taking earplugs!
Review 95:I loved the location of the hotel. 5mins walk from the metro station, and super easy to find. Also very central, which made it so easy to commute around town.
Review 96:Noisy room at the Hotel Matylda during the night.
Review 97:Unique experience, great location and friendly staff. Dining in the italian restaurant is very romantic
Review 98:Our only down side was breakfast. Not much choice and limited hot food available. But there's many many places around to have a super breakfast.
Review 99:we could not have asked for a better stay. Perfect location. Very friendly staff. Spotlessly clean boat and rooms.
Review 100:Wasn't keen on a double bed pushed up against the wall. Noisy position, bins emptied right outside at 6.30am
Review 101:The restaurant next door. The location Seating area in between the two boats for a drink
Review 102:The room on the lower deck do get noise from people walking above, also the rooms in the restaurant boat do suffer from cooking smells, although they are nice smells!!
Review 103:The setting, being on the river and having a room with a view of the river. The food in the restaurant is first class Italian cooking,
Review 104:The hotel was a revelation. A boat on the Vitava close to Charles Bridge and the superb tram system making all sites readily accessible. The staff were most helpful and the breakfast was more than adequate. The restaurant was also very good and reasonably priced.
Review 105:Nothing really, Cabins were small - but when in Prague - why would you want to stay in?
Review 106:The location was perfect, we were able to walk to all of the sites and get around easily. The food in the restaurant was really nice and inexpensive. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. I wanted to stay somewhere different and not a chain where I could have been in any city in Europe.
Review 107:It would be easier to say what we didn't like about this beautiful boat. this was our 2nd visit & will return again for the xmas markets. we stayed in a standard room on the matylda boat ,which was spotlessly clean .I would recommend having a meal in their restaurant the food is delicious & a huge thank you to the waiter Michael for being so friendly :)
Review 108:The cabin was a little too small & the staff were very serious but polite mostly.. didn't feel a warm welcome that you'd expect staying in a Hotel. Didn't try the food in the restaurant as it was a little expensive & there's lots of in-expensive restaurants right beside it..
Review 109:The Location was perfect. The Cabin was Clean
Review 110:The only criticism would be of the breakfast. Breakfast was served until 10am however when I went at 9 15 although there was only a limited choice most things were finished and I was told there was nothing left. This particular waitress was very rude every morning. She was more interested in playing with someone's dog
Review 111:The staff all (except the breakfast staff) were so pleasant and helpful the suite we had was spacious with an outside deck. The food was also very good. I would definitely recommend it
Review 112:The room is not too big and the bed is a lottle hard and dump, maybe it is due to the riverside. And some mosquitoes disturb me.The light should be lighter.
Review 113:The staff are super friendly and helpful, when they clean up our bedroom they also put our things kn order, that is very considerate. The location is good, tram and metro station not too far, we always walk to interests kf visit.
Review 114:Poor breakfast. Limited choice and hot selection very poor.
Review 115:Staff were always very helpful, restaurant for evening meals excellent, great service. Great location, beds comfortable.
Review 116:Parking is no longer possible by the boat, however there is a possibility to use a nearby garage for 10 €/day (don't forget a reservation), what is more than acceptable for Prague.
Review 117:Excellent service.
Review 118:The location was quite a walk from the sites of the city which we knew when booking. We had an early start and had been told we could have a breakfast box as we were leaving prior to breakfast but the kitchen had forgotton on the morning of departure.
Review 119:It was different to stay in a boatel rather than a hotel. The room overlooked the river and was snug and cosy.
Review 120:Extremely noisy, as located under the restaurant, all day & night long, very thin walls so all neighbours words from the corridor were also heard as in the same room. Very small room itself & limited space even for two persons inside. The rest was great.
Review 121:View, placement, atmosphere, breakfast, service & attitude.
Review 122:Little noisy in room when its busy but nothing the tv at a low level can't cover.
Review 123:This was a beautiful hotel close walking distance from town, great food, very comfortable. The views on and off the boat are incredible. The staff were very accommodating nothing was too much. Will be going back!!
Review 124:The light in the room could be a little brighter;)
Review 125:Es war alles super!!! Die Lage ist einfach toll! Personal an der Rezeption War ser aufmerksam. IT was really great to stay with you guys, especially the one young man who was at night from 22nd to 23d, thank you soooooo much.we will definately come back in this Hotel. Yours room 17 :) Отличный отель, внимательный персонал и прекрасное месторасположение! В следующий раз обязательно только к вам!!!
Review 126:The was nothing much not to like!!
Review 127:The location was excellent.Tram station was nearby, all the places we wanted to visit was few minutes away from the hotel. The staff was polite, helpful and the breakfast was just perfect
