Reviews for Pousada dos Quatro Cantos

Review 1:Poor wireless connection the rooms at the lower level are very tiny & noisy (should modernize bathroom)

Review 2:Breakfast Very friendly staff Ideal location!

Review 3:The juices at breakfast were sometimes watered down. More vegetarian options would be nice too

Review 4:Lovely grounds and rooms. The breakfast had a large range, and staff were super helpful in making our stay great.

Review 5:I did not like the fact that they went into my room while I was having breakfast... Not to clean....but just to check what I had from the mini bar...they could have waited until I returned to the room....then ask me or check...

Review 6:Beautiful hotel friendly staff & excellent breakfast

Review 7:Fabulously quirky hotel in the centre of the old city of Olinda with fabulous view of rooftop out to sea from my large roof balcony. Staff and management went entirely above and beyond their duty to assist not only with usual tourist enquiry but also in assisting with various personal mishaps and crises.

Review 8:This is a charming and very comfortable pousuda in the heart of Olinda. Staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. Breakfast was also very delicious. We had a great stay!

Review 9:Internet does not really work in the rooms, only the lobby.

Review 10:Great location, very authentic feel about the place. The café that is part of the pousada is very nice and stylish. Perfect location to explore Olinda.

Review 11:Noise at night since it was right in the "centro historico" but it didn't prevent me from sleeping. I can't say there was anything I didn't like.

Review 12:Great ambience, really charming, felt like I was in an historic inn, which it was. Perfect, a great find, exactly what I wanted, but not for someone who wants a super modern high end hotel. Lovely garden, terrace and pool.

Review 13:nothing

Review 14:Great house with a unique atmossphere, stunning interior and such great and smart people working there! Super good location, very good breakfast and extrem quick laundry service! Thanks again!

Review 15:In this great historical house, I had a lot of trouble to sleep : - First, there are lots of dogs in the streets at night, and they never stop barking, from 5PM to 5AM. - In addition, it was impossible to really close the windows, in the room that I had. Just shutters, no real windows to stop the noise and the wind to go inside. So your hear the curtains move all the time. And in the morning, the light of the sun goes directly in your eyes when the wind moves the curtains. I know this is due to the age of the house but anyway, it counts !

Review 16:Welcoming and helpful staff. Great location at the heart of the historical city. Nice breakfast.

Review 17:Room was a little small for a family, anyway it's worth a visit

Review 18:Cool place, decoration it's great, it felt real, conected to Olinda. Staff was very nice an helpful.

Review 19:The internet signal was very weak, so I was only able to consistently connect while in my room which had a patio facing a wall, so I certainly didn't want to spend too much time there.

Review 20:I absolute loved the location and charm of this converted mansion. Located in the prime part of town, everything a visitor would want to access is walkable. Estação Cafe across the street has great music.

Review 21:The internet connection was spotty.

Review 22:The staff was very helpful. They let us park our car in their garage. We left our luggage with the reception desk all day as we had a late night flight. The breakfast was interesting, local food. I just wanted to stay on the patio all day. It was very peaceful.

Review 23:If you didn't have one of the better rooms you might feel as if you were missing out on some of the experience

Review 24:The Garden, the pool, the verandahs, the breakfast room, the reception room all mean that you can happily spend all day lounging around the property in colonial grandeur during the heat of the day, and then go out at night to Olindas' various attractions

Review 25:Infelizmente a Internet não pegava no meu quarto, nem meu modem 3G. Acabei ficando offline na pousada.

Review 26:Atendimento excelente! Toda a equipe é muito bem preparada e atenciosa.

Review 27:- they had some pest control activity the day I was there and I had two cockroaches come into my room and climb into my bed and a bunch of them dead right outside my room! - they had the standard electrical Brazilian shower but I never got hot water even on the "Inverno" (hottest) setting - there was a constant smell of urine in the loo drain - Lack of natural light. In room 112, one window opened right onto the common area so I could never really open it. A glass window with curtains or a bug net installed on the window would've helped. - no blanket. Only a sheet. Also seems to be very common in Brazil. - leaking AC (at 23 degrees) formed puddles of water in the room. - WiFi only in reception. Sometimes my room caught a weak signal. More routers around the property would be perfect.

Review 28:+ Erika at the front desk was amazing! Spoke English and was very helpful and friendly. + great location. Very convenient to walk to restaurants and all parts of the historic centre + clean, spacious room + spotless towels + hairdryer + extensive breakfast spread + I was going to stay one night but stayed two! Also got to see Olinda's 480th anniversary celebrations with a full carnival-style party for all ages - a great experience!

Review 29:Nothing to complain about whatsoever

Review 30:Go for the upgraded room, the one we stayed in was beautiful No question was too much trouble for the staff who were very helpful helping us navigate local buses and giving advice on local sights and restaurants Breakfast buffet was very interesting with lots of regional food (but some safer options too for the less adventurous) There is a swimming pool which is perfect for after a hot day`s exploring of Olinda or Recife or the local coastline Air conditioned room - very important given the heat

Review 31:Jacuzzi bathtub was dysfunctional because of problem with the tap. The wait staff during breakfast were grumpy and look like they hated the customers.

Review 32:This is a charming small hotel located right in the historical center of Olinda. The colonial architecture and arts are well-preserved in its interior, and our room in the attic offers some view to the city and the sea.

Review 33:Some rooms are in the dungeons, so beware. My experience is that hotels assign the worst rooms when you book with this site.

Review 34:Very friendly staff, in a quiet atmosphere. Nice breakfast with a good variety of food.

Review 35:Even after this short period we can't realy come to think of anything that would rate is less...

Review 36:The pousada is a hidden gem! The rooms, the shared spaces, the small but wonderfull garden with pool, it's all very well maintained !! The breakfast buffet offers all you can desire.

Review 37:The bedroom was described as having "character". Actually, the room was old and without "charme". The main problem was that the door and the windows were not able the stop the noise coming from the lobby and the street. It was possible to understand all the conversations of the lobby and the personal didn't seem to realize it.

Review 38:The hotel has a good location. The personal speaks English. The Breakfast is great.

Review 39:Nothing bothered us, but if you have difficulty in climbing stairs to get to you room...

Review 40:The pousada is located right in the middle of the historic city. You can park your car and walk everywhere. The grounds are beautiful and the staff very helpful.

Review 41:I hated the neigbours dog that barked too much and too long. The wine in the minibar you should really replace with something drinkable.

Review 42:Beautiful house with great art inside. We stayed in the suite which was great with the balcony. Loved the few days we spent.

Review 43:the wonderful main entrance and reception area promise much more than you'll find in the room. the deluxe-double-room is just a regular three-bed-room with a normal quite tiny bath and the decoration is too cheap - more like a common airoprt hotel than a nice old city villa.

Review 44:entrance, reception, stairway, veranda and common area are very beautiful in deed. location ist fantastic, breakfast rich and fresh!

Review 45:My room was right off the street on the ground floor and it was pretty noisy at night. Also, there were a lot of ants in the room, unavoidable on the ground floor it seems. Ask for a room on a higher floor.

Review 46:The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the location is great. You can walk to everything. Service was good. The breakfast was good...try some of the regional specialties.

Review 47:Town noisy at night but that is not the fault of the posada.

Review 48:Wonderful relaxing place to base yourself....best banana and chocolate cake ever. Welcome drink was a lovely touch.

Review 49:Our room was on the street: noise. Hot water went down.

Review 50:Stylish pousada

Review 51:Stunning building. Great location

Review 52:Well situated, nice decorated, helpful staff

Review 53:AV GREAT LOCATION WITH FRIENDLY STAFF

Review 54:Central location in Olinda. English speaking staff.

Review 55:Very friendly staff, good location in Olinda and nice hotel

Review 56:Beautiful old mansion in the heart of Olinda, with great breakfast and beautiful gardens.

Review 57:well in the center, nice building

Review 58:I wasn't crazy about the shower.

Review 59:Location, location, location! Breakfast is great, too! Very helpfull staff.

Review 60:We loved the breakfast, pool and friendliness of the staff.

Review 61:WIf-fi was not available the day we were there.

Review 62:The location and the room

Review 63:It had a good location, very good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, small pool and comfortable rooms.

Review 64:Good breakfast, nice and clean, pool, in the heart Olinda! Perfect during Carneval.

Review 65:well located, but i'd rather stay further away from the center next time

Review 66:Breakfast

Review 67:Tiny, dark room, no earlier check-in possible, overpriced

Review 68:Good Location, great breakfast

Review 69:the sense of history; the helpfulness of the staff; the breakfast.

Review 70:Location. Confort. Breakfast was the best I had in three weeks I was in Brazil.

Review 71:Very nice staff, excellent location in the heart of Olinda, cozy atmosphere in the hotel

Review 72:Rooms are expensive for what you get, we got a room in the back of the hotel so maybe rooms in front are better.

Review 73:Swimming pool, location and breakfast.

Review 74:We stayed in the standard room which was close to the road so quite noisy and the room was on the small side.

Review 75:The Pousada has a lot of character and is in a great location.

Review 76:Most of the staff were very very friendly and helpful. With the exeption of a particulat one to whom I requested at 2 pm to please have my bedsheets change and who simply replied"NO". I insisted and NO again. Until i just requested it from someone else from the staff and then they were change.breakfast selection is rather poor for imternational standards.

Review 77:Location,view of room,clean.

Review 78:The bedrooms' furniture and interior decoration are without much taste (compared to the common areas). More importantly, our room was equipped with an antiquated a/c system which was so noisy we couldn't sleep without turning it off. Some staff members are unfortunately discourteous and unwilling to help (either in Portuguese or in English). The quality of the breakfast buffet doesn't match its diversity. Overall, a disappointing experience, although Olinda is well worth a visit!

Review 79:Nicely located, the Pousada dos Quatro Cantos is a beautiful piece of property.

Review 80:The staff was very good, helping us with all questions and information. The breakfast was a regional food but overall was excellent . Location was very convenient to walking distance around Olinda.

Review 81:Love this pousada... very good atmosphere, nice building and decoration, esp the living room/reception area and dining room. The pousada also has swimming pool where one can chill out after hot day visiting the city. The location is great, right at the Quarto cantos. I would like to come back during carnaval.

Review 82:A very charming hotel with helpful and very friendly staff. Our room wasunusual with a clever use of space and French doors that led to anoutside patio and stairs to a small balcony overlooking the wall. Goodlocation within walking distance of many nice restaurants and artisanshops. Nice swimming pool and grounds. An oasis in the middle ofOlinda/Recife. As a bonus, on Sunday nights there is an open air"market" with many interesting food choices and the usualtourist fare.

Review 83:The price seemed high compared to other hotels in the area. Restaurant never seemed to be open, but breakfast was great.

Review 84:Completely fits within the beautiful, historical city of Olinda. Location is perfect, accessible to all the churches and shops and an easy walk to the ocean front as well. Nice view from our window. A great place to relax after all of that climbing up and down the hills.

Review 85:Design of the room not as pretty as the public Space in the hotel Not much light in the bedrooms

Review 86:Design of the front office Staff speak English and is friendly

Review 87:System for hot water not adequate (although it does not matter so much, since the weather is hot). Perhaps slightly overpriced, but this seems to be the case for most hotels in Old Olinda.

Review 88:Very friendly staff, beautiful common areas, excellent breakfast.

Review 89:Water was not hot enough in the bathroom.

Review 90:we really enjoyed the pousada and our 3 days in Olinda. Pousada is very Well located in a beautiful house in the city center (and with a pool). Quiet and cosy room. Friendly àd helpy staff. Exquisite breakfast with local food.

Review 91:Accesseibility from the stairs. One unpleasant girl from the reception. Loved the rest of the staff. Beautiful place. Service tax should be included in the booking from the site "Booking".

Review 92:Would go again. The nature, forniture and the localization.

Review 93:I stood there participating in an Convention in the very near Exhibition Center. Being picked up at the Airport, I had immediately a guided tour by the very friendly Taxi driver - great. Once arrived at the Hotel, I had a very warm welcome. My spacious room had a balcony, a fantastic hammock and was located in a very quiet angle of the Hotel. Breakfast is fantastic, good choice of fruit, very traditional food and classical dishes everybody expects form a place to stay. The staff is friendly and whatever you might need, they try to help wherever they can. I felt as if I was at home. Lunch and dinner was served and I enjoyed some local dishes. The charming atmosphere and the very well conserved old building makes la Pousada dos Quatro Cantos the best address in Olinda. No complains and I will be back!

Review 94:This isn't the place to go if you want to be by yourself/selves. It's a little more like camp, with mealtimes and activities. It's 10 kilometers of rough dirt road from the nearest town, so get good instructions first. Also, they don't take credit cards.

Review 95:Very friendly Swedish/Brazilian couple runs it. You eat their food, mostly from their garden, with them, and do activities with them. The countryside is beautiful and we learned a lot about the region, the food, ecology, etc. Loved the horseback ride.

Review 96:No serious complaints...but an overhead fan would be a nice, green wayto cool the room.

Review 97:My room (118) was a unique design with an enclosed balcony equippedwith a platform that allowed me to see the street. The building isgorgeous, the staff gracious, and the location close to food and musicbut not noisy.

Review 98:Downstairs rooms are small and dark - a bit like a basement- we asked tomove and were put in a better room. Room fittings are showing their age.

Review 99:Great staff. Quaint building and gardens. Olinda very interesting andhotel central. Pool not big but clean and adequate. Clean by most Brazilstandards. Breakfasts very good if you are interested in local foods andspecialties.

Review 100:Limited language skills of the staff (except for Suelane), a littleoverpriced (but so are all hotels in the area) for the level of comfortand amenities, no lunch and dinner services.

Review 101:Artful and art filled internal decoration, excellent breakfast in astylish breakfast room, relaxed atmosphere.

Review 102:There was a small misunderstanding about cleaning the room when one of us had to stay back due to illness but it was easily resolved.

Review 103:An enchanting setting in the magical small city of Olinda. We chanced to stay there during the pre-Carnaval rehearsals and enjoyed our "front row seats" on the hotel balcony.

Review 104:The standard rooms are very simple, quite small and have little naturallight. They are former stables or something similar. If your budgetallows, go for a room in the main builiding.

Review 105:The pousada is a beautiful building in an excellent spot in the middleof scenic Olinda. The colonial building has a fantastic atmosphere. Ifyou are there for carnaval it is in the best spot of the whole centre.

Review 106:Felt VERY overpriced for what you get.

Review 107:Nice locaton

Review 108:There's nothing I did not like.

Review 109:Location, comfort, privacy, breakfast, architecture.

Review 110:The lacking of a car parking nearby.

Review 111:Cleaness, breakfast, location, bed and room sizes and the crew hospitality .

Review 112:+ 10 % for service on all the price, even on the room price.

Review 113:Beautiful place. Welcoming staff. Great breakfast with local specialties.

Review 114:Nothing. Everything was marvellous!

Review 115:Perfect stay. Staff was very atencious. Fantastic breakfast.
