Reviews for Le Simone Bed & Breakfast

Review 1:Shared bathroom but wasnt an issue and well worth the comprmise

Review 2:Location was excellent, room & bathroom was spotless. Staff were so friendly & breakfast was outstanding.

Review 3:The room was dusty and Room cleaning was bad, not even adding toilet paper when empty, and this is just one detail. You can hear clearly stuff you do not want to hear from other rooms. Breakfast was poor, Internet was poor, the owner was pushy. you can ge t way better than this place in Montreal.

Review 4:The location is great, just by one of the main metro station in the centre.

Review 5:The street where the B&B is located was isolated with odd-looking individuas so I wouldn't have felt safe at night walking alone as a young, short woman. Also, there are a lot of stairs in the narrow stairwells!

Review 6:Very clean, quick and friendly service, free breakfasts were filling (choice of eggs or pancakes made just for you plus croissants/bread, juice, coffee, fruit, yogurt, cookies, cereal...), located close to a main street. I highly recommend Le Simone B&B! I will stay here again when I travel to Montreal!

Review 7:Parking was a challenge ... But eventually found a good spot !!

Review 8:Very close to old Montreal and Mount Royal park !! Only 1/2 hour walk to either passing great little shops and restaurants on the way !

Review 9:Excellent location, very close to a Metro station and Montreal bus terminal. Staff is very welcoming and breakfast was nice. Suggestion: coffee in the dinning room could be keep warm all day long with a new Thermos.

Review 10:Overall, my room and bathroom were large and clean. However, the toilet in my room barely functioned. I know it's an older home with old plumbing, but a plunger in the room isn't an adequate solution.

Review 11:The B&B is ideally located. It's near the bus station, a metro station, grocery store and park. The staff is super friendly, and I enjoyed the freshly made breakfast each morning.

Review 12:The toilet was doing some noise, had to open the top 2 to move the floating part for it to stop making sounds

Review 13:The breakfast was very nice, gotta love the Choice of pancakes or omelette.

Review 14:Too many stairs, street noise late at night around 12pm &1am

Review 15:Close to where I had to go for my business, but too many stairs to go up & down, a lot of street noise late at night

Review 16:TV did not work at all, which apparently is true throughout the facility. Trim in bathroom as well as floors needed a good scrub. Parking on street is challenging, although we managed to find a spot that we could occupy without moving for three days for free.

Review 17:Breakfast included made to order omelet. Convenient location if you are a willing walker, otherwise the metro was available nearby.

Review 18:There were only a heavy duvet and an even heavier blanket available in the room. What was required was a light summer blanket. Otherwise you only had the sheet to cover you..

Review 19:Location was excellent. One block to St Catherine St and the Hop on Hop Bus stop and quite close to St Denis and St Laurent streets

Review 20:- The taxes....but, like the rest of Montreal, the taxes there is very high. Be aware that the price you initially see on the website doesn't include it. It's about 15%.- Finding parking can be a pain. There is street parking, but if you have never driven in Montreal before, be very sure to read the signs carefully (or ask the staff). Otherwise, you'll see loads of tickets on your car. - YMMV, but the area is a bit lively at night. When I had left for the airport bus in the middle of the night, there were a lot of groups out and about in the area. When I say middle of the night, I really do mean it, since this was about 3 am.

Review 21:- I traveled with family, so we ended up getting a a floor of an apartment. You really do get what you paid for. The apartment was very spacious and there were 3 room and 1.5 baths. Though, I can't say what's it like for the other accommodation options.- The hotel's exterior blends into the neighborhood and it's pretty charming. I'm guessing it's converted, but you get to live in an apartment like the locals around you do. - The Berry-UQAM metro station entrance is less than a block away and the station is also a major transfer station of 3 metro lines. The bus terminal to take the airport shuttle (Bus 747) and other long distance buses is a 5 minute walk. So, there are plenty of transportation options. - The staff makes omlette and pancakes for breakfast and it's actually pretty good. It's also served on the patio, which is actually quite nice.

Review 22:staircase to enter was narow with a suitcase

Review 23:staff were friendly, room was very clean and spacious, breakfast was great, location was very close to berri station

Review 24:We stayed in apartment and holes in walls, rips in curtains, shower floor was soft. Needed to be redone. Breakfast sitting outside. Lots of wasps. One wasp came out of syrup jar when it was poured on our pancakes.

Review 25:Location to metro was great. Beds comfortable.

Review 26:The WiFi had poor signal. The shower in room 4 would put water all over the bathroom floor. Woukd of been nice to have breakfast till 11am instead of 10am.

Review 27:Friendly staff, quiet, AC in room to keep cool, breakfast, and location.

Review 28:The street noise in the front room made it a bit hard to sleep. The AC really blocks the noise but we didn't want it on all night.

Review 29:Great breakfast! Friendly staff. Clean.

Review 30:Breakfast does not start until 730 am. I had to leave by 720 am to get to work. Everyone talks loudly outside the rooms. I could hear floors creaking whenever the guest above me walked across the floor. Not appreciated at 12:30 am. There is no common sitting area.

Review 31:I was late arriving and they were able to leave the key for me in the mailbox. Staff were nice and the room was clean and comfortable. It is a lovely Victorian building with character. Breakfast is served on the outdoor deck.

Review 32:Can be a bit loud. More like a youth hostel than a hotel, but that could be a good thing. Property is in old building, so staircase is very steep.

Review 33:Location is great. VERY clean. Perfect for those on a budget looking for a clean, convenient place to sleep without planning to stay much time in room.

Review 34:Difficult to find a parking spot, I would advise parking at the grand library 3 blocks further. This costs 12 CAD per 24h. A good deal for the neighbourhood. Lacks character, shower in room without separate bathroom. No shampoo, just a little soap.

Review 35:Location was alright, a 15 min walk to the old town. Decent sized room with A-C. Breakfast with homemade pancakes or omelet.

Review 36:La Simone is adjacent to the Latin Quarter (Montreal's gay village), with lots of great late night bars and events. It's also a block from the subway, has a bike share station just outside, and offers an excellent breakfast each morning on the outdoor terrace. It's a perfect combo for visitors and we've stayed here with up to a travel party of 4.

Review 37:If you are disabled obese old or have kids not a good choice. Staff did show me how to use even the light for the room which was outside the room. No help bringing bags up stairs was very scary!!!! No secondary lock on door!!!! Looked for toilet paper and found master keys could have went into any room!!!! Bathroom smelled like sewage and very small! People smoking at neighbours came in my window so had to keep them closed!!! No parking!!!! Had to walk several blocks and pay 12 per day!!!! If the lot wasn't full. Could barely fity suitcase down hall way-decorating needs updating!!!!!! But the worst was the long narrow cured staircase up thought I may fall to my death!!! Worst trip ever!!!!!!!!

Review 38:Everyone was really nice and the room was clean and updated, nice bathroom, great location, awesome breakfast with home made croissants with omelettes or pancakes

Review 39:Bathroom had no door, and the hand basin was blocked - I used the plunger to unblock and some pretty nasty stuff came up!

Review 40:Great location, friendly staff.

Review 41:Breakfast was bland. Croissants were dough-like and tasteless. I would have liked something a little better quality with some character. Simple scones and jam would have been great!

Review 42:The B&B was conveniently located and was quiet at night. It had a nice shower adjoining the room and a delightful outdoor terrace on the second floor for breakfast.

Review 43:I stayed for 3 nights, they didn't clean the bathroom at all, I didn't like this at all. They just changed the towels and made the bed, that's it. The room was on the second floor and it's too hard to carry your luggage, the stairs are tooooo narrow and you have to climb them even to the reception area. I wish they had cheese for breakfast, it was mainly carbs with eggs. Pancakes were good though.

Review 44:The staff was good, the room was spacious and the breakfast was fine. It's very close to the bus station, metro station and plenty of restaurants and stores.

Review 45:Would have been nice to have a kettle in shared sitting room area to make a cup of tea/coffee at anytime.

Review 46:Location, location. Happy and helpful hosts. Great selection for breakfast with freshly cooked food.

Review 47:Putting the waching machine on early in the morningnis not a good idea if I am in the room next to it

Review 48:Central location and very nice fresh baked pancakes

Review 49:it was just 8:45am and they already ran out of croissant during our second night stay. It was full house that day, maybe that's why, but they should have been more prepared. You could hear the shower from the other room, stairs were steep, also you can hear people walk because of the wooden floors.

Review 50:Location is really close to the subway. Wifi had strong connection. Offered omelette or pancakes for breakfast, made fresh. The croissant was really good. The smell of it woke me up, smelled so good.

Review 51:Everything!! The location and price was great! The bed was comfy, the room and bathroom were really clean. The staff were amazing!! They cook you a lovely breakfast and they also worked with my dietry inquires as well! You can choose between an omelet or pancakes both come with a side of fruit and unlimited toast and ceral! They also do your washing for $5! We had a pleasant stay! Highly recommend!!

Review 52:HIGHT STAIRCASE BUT IF YOU HAVE A ROOM ON THE 1ST LEVER THAT IS JUST OKEY. NOT PRACTICAL IF YOU HAVE HEAVY AND LARGE SUITCASE DUE TO NARROW STAIRCASE BUT VERY PRACTICAL FOR SMALL AND NOT TO HEAVY CARRY ON AND PACKSACKS.

Review 53:SILENCIEUX, PROPRE, WELL SITUATED NEAR ALL TRANSPORTATION AND WALKING DISTANCE TO SO MANY THINGS.

Review 54:The sheets seemed to be unchanged for a long time. The breakfast room very tight and there was no milk available just coffee and juice.

Review 55:The bed is very confortable, but desserves clean sheets, the room was nice with a good hot shower! Very close to the metro, just few steps from Berri-UQAM station.

Review 56:THIRD FLOOR NOT PRACTICAL FOR SEVERAL LUGAGE AS STAIRWAYS ARE NAROW AND STEAP. NOT PRACTICAL FOR HANDICAPES OR ELDERLY PERSON ON UPER LEVEL 3. LEVEL 2 WOULD BE OKEY FOR ELDERLY PERSONS WITH NO HEAVY LUGAGE. PACKSACKS & SMALL LUGAGES ARE PERFECT AND GOOD FOR THE EXTRA EXERCISE IF PERSON IS PHYSICALY FIT & ABLE.

Review 57:JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THEY HAD TO OFFER INCLUDING A SMILE. ha!..

Review 58:must say that it was a very pleasant experience...the breakfasts were delicious especially the fresh baked croissants...thank you for making out first B&B experience so comfortable

Review 59:For those traveling with big luggage the stairs might be a challenge but this hotel is a converted duplex so it is normal.

Review 60:Free WiFi though was a little slow at times. AMAZING breakfast and really friendly staff. Great location right near the metro. The room was really nice as well. GREAT price for quality

Review 61:The room's bathroom didn't fully locked; and the comforter was nice at the beginning for the night, but too hot towards the middle.

Review 62:The location, the warmth, the friendly staff; the breakfast!

Review 63:Even though the hotel is close to nice bars and restaurants, the area is a little bit dodgy at night. The room we stayed on the second floor was a bit noisy because of the wooden floor (I could hear people walking on the next bedroom). These are small details -- Le Simone is a great value for the money.

Review 64:Great location (less than 2 min from subway station), friendly staff, great breakfast (they make really good omelets and pancakes). We stayed in a Queen bedroom with bathroom, and really enjoyed our time there.

Review 65:No tea or coffee making facilities in room. Stairs quite steep. Bathroom a little pokey. Breakfast barely adequate.

Review 66:This place had charecter to burn. Exposed brickwork in rooms different. Really cmfortable bed.

Review 67:Since it was our first time to Montreal, the staff at check-in time was not able to provide any restaurant recommendations. But with technology at hand, we were able to find places on our own. It would be helpful to have a few recommended places for future guests.

Review 68:The location was close to what we wanted to do. At times it was a good hike to restaurants but that never bothered us. We enjoyed the walk.

Review 69:Very steep stairs to access room.

Review 70:Friendly staff, good breakfast, lots of good restaurants in walking distance. Not too far from the main tourist areas. Only 4 blocks to the airport shuttle and other bus station

Review 71:A bit loud at night with open window. But I was there on a weekend so probably there won't be so many people on the streets during the week

Review 72:Friendly staff Breakfast Near city center

Review 73:3 out of 4 light bulbs were burnt out over vanity in bathroom - some hair on floor in bathroom. Friday night there was some noise from nearby clubs but regardless of these issues would stay there again.

Review 74:Great location and reasonable price. Staff very pleasant - the included breakfast was a bonus (even had freshly prepared omelettes or pancakes if you wished). WiFi worked great!

Review 75:Noisy room on street and hard uncomfortable bed. Remote control volume not working and the manager/proprietor came in response to my request for help but couldn't fix it and was somewhat sarcastic and unhelpful about why I wanted to be able to adjust/mute the volume at times.

Review 76:Proximity to Latin Quarter and metro station and breakfast.

Review 77:Not a concern for us but some would have difficulty with the stairs. WiFi reception was intermittent.

Review 78:Location was great, walking distance to bus depot, subway and St Catherine's St. Old Montreal is a 20 min. walk. 747 bus service from the airport is a great option that will drop you at the bus depot with a 10 min. walk to le Simone. Good breakfast choices and helpful staff. Would stay again.

Review 79:You will have to carry your luggage to your room going through a narrow staircase. It will be difficult if you have a large luggage.

Review 80:great location, near to subway station (about 5 mins walk). lovely breakfast. comfortable room, nice bed. clean washroom. free computer to use, printer available with minimum cost.

Review 81:Lack of parking. Shared bath on different floor (book early so you can get room with private bath). Staff pleasant but not very informative.

Review 82:Location to Vieux Montreal.

Review 83:The breakfast starts from 7:30 even though they start to bake breads from 7:30! it's very late for the people has to leave there by 8:00. Broken stopper in the sink.

Review 84:Good location from bus depot.

Review 85:Sometimes it was hard to get the shower temp just right. It always ran a little too hot or cold, but it was never unbearable.

Review 86:We stayed a full week and truly enjoyed Le Simone. The room was charming, the staff were gracious, and breakfast was delicious. The in-room bath was certainly worth it. A subway entrance was less than a block away too.

Review 87:The staff forgot to change towels. I also got a rash which I was not sure was related to the sheets. The air conditioning did not work well but was enough to cool down a littl

Review 88:The breakfast was fantastic. Very nice atmosphere

Review 89:The area - a lot of junkies in streets in and around and drunks/junkies shouting at night. Didn,t feel a safe area to walk around after dark, especially with young children.Felt more like student digs rather than a B&B.

Review 90:The breakfast outside on the patio with freshly cooked pancakes.

Review 91:Not an problem for us, but there is a steep set of stairs up to the reception, and more steep stairs if your room is on an upper level, so it's not for anyone with mobility issues.

Review 92:30-second walk from Berri-UQAM metro. Clean. Comfortable bed. Wooden floors. Good WIFI. Great breakfast included, served on the outdoor patio in the summer.

Review 93:It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in last 5 years. Room was so small that u don't have place even to put your suitcase or bags. The back wall (towards our head) was not cemented and has only bricks looks like a unfinished room, very bad. I booked room initially for 6 days but left this place on the very next day morning and shifted to other better hotel in the much better price. I won't recommend anybody especially couples and family to stay in this hotel and spoil their money and vacations. Very bad experience.

Review 94:Only good thing the location of hotel.

Review 95:When we arrived, having booked the day before via Booking.com, the hostel was full. Fortunately, the owner helped us find a nearby hotel, and let us come for breakfast at his B&B. He said that there is a lag in the booking registrations because the head office for Booking.com is in Amsterdam (time difference), and the website should have shown that his B&B was full.

Review 96:The breakfast was fantastic, and the outdoor patio was very enjoyable. We didn't actually get to stay at the B&B, but we will surely book there again.

Review 97:What was not to like? Everything was great!

Review 98:We rented the three bedroom apartment and were very pleased. First of all there was a half bath, that was not in the description, in addition to a full bath with shower and laundry. The apartment was clean and very comfortable and the location could not have been any better. We were only about a two minute walk to a major subway interchange which made getting around a breeze. Breakfasts were also cooked to order every morning by very pleasant staff members and were included in the bill. We will definitely stay at Le Simone again the next time we go to Montreal and we would definitely recommend it to friends.

Review 99:Neighborhood was a little sketchy in some areas while walking to Old Montreal. Parking on street near entrance to hotel was frustrating, and ended up paying $12.00 a day for parking in parking garage 3 blocks away.

Review 100:The staff was very helpful and courteous, our room very clean, bed very comfortable, and the breakfast amazing. Location got to be better and seemed more central once we got to know the area.

Review 101:parking was a bit of an issue- much of the surrounding area seems to be permit parking and the parking police seem to be especially interested in ticketing foreign license plates

Review 102:beautiful facility with friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Would definitely recommend!!

Review 103:Steep stairs make hauling up luggage and bikes a bit of work.

Review 104:Location is about 1 block from the major subway hub for all of Montreal. Lots of bars and nightlife within walking distance.

Review 105:Nice comfortable room, warm. Breakfast at a common table, good for conversation. Very good location.

Review 106:Nothing much. It is very nice place.

Review 107:Homely environment. Great location.

Review 108:Nothing.

Review 109:Excellent location (near the Metro), great breakfasts with fresh croissants.

Review 110:Breakfast room very small and cramped. WiFi slow

Review 111:Comfortable room, nice breakfast with omlette and Continental options.

Review 112:Location is great.

Review 113:some noise, needs better coffee

Review 114:location, good air conditioning, cleanliness, friendly staff, particularly the young lady that serve us at breakfast

Review 115:The Big shower

Review 116:Great service, location and everything was super!!! Merci :)

Review 117:My 15 year old daughter and I had a lovely stay. Pleasant staff. Good location near the metro. Excellent value

Review 118:Good location, friendly staff, good value for money

Review 119:The staircase was extremely narrow and there's no elevator.

Review 120:Staff and owner are very friendly. Room was clean, terrasse was a bonus. Location is ideal. Definitely coming back.

Review 121:The rooms are small and crowded.

Review 122:The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.

Review 123:Wifi is pretty slow

Review 124:Location is perfect if you use subways for transportation

Review 125:This was convenient to the subway and in a nice neighborhood, with pedestrian streets to walk at night.

Review 126:Nice roof top patio, friendly receipt by Rock, location.

Review 127:Sharing a bathroom.

Review 128:The AC and room. Spacious and peaceful.

Review 129:Location was great. Not far from attractions. I really enjoyed the breakfast choices. Staff was great.

Review 130:Very friendly lovely host and helpers. Great art and European feel in every corner.

Review 131:Nothing

Review 132:Fabulous breakfast, friendly staff
