Reviews for L'Appartement Hôtel
Review 1:Bed was rock hard so I didn't sleep well. Hallway smelled slightly of cigarette smoke. Room was very hot (25 degrees Celsius--in the wintertime) and didn't cool down when I turned the thermostat down.
Review 2:Excellent, professional reception staff. Small but modern gym. Excellent location. Very well-maintained for an older building.
Review 3:In a perfect world the garage would be less of a hazard field for a rental car.
Review 4:Smack dab in the middle of DT Montreal, with a very nice suite upgrade. It was easy to find and easy to park in their cramped garage.
Review 5:Maid services are not always good. Fornt desk sometimes does't know the information of public tranportation, the bus stop for the airport.
Review 6:Location, the room faculities, continental breakfast, and rate
Review 7:As many reviwers have already mentioned, breakfast could be improved.
Review 8:Overall, it was a very comfy stay for the money paid. Pretty convenient location to walk around and explore the city, many restaurants and stores available in the nabe. Subway station is located within a few blocks. Secured underground parking was available for $20/day. No extra charge for pet stay. Loved the kitchen.
Review 9:The only truly bad thing about this hotel is that the two elevators are both rather small and pretty slow, so sometimes you have to wait several minutes for one. Not a huge deal, though.
Review 10:Excellent location near McGill University, which means plentiful stores and cafes with late hours. Close to Metro stations, as well. Wonderful rooms with great views; you get a mini apartment complete with a kitchen and balcony for very reasonable prices. Everything was clean, beds were comfy, staff was friendly, and a continental breakfast is always nice too. Will definitely stay here again if I come back to Montreal!
Review 11:Waiting for lifts in really busy periods (there are only two serving 16+ floors) though there's no way to add more. And the lack of an on-site coffee shop / bar for use after the breakfast room closes mid-morning, though as there are several close by it is not a real problem.
Review 12:Centrality of location. Accommodation was spacious & well equipped, staff were friendly, informative & went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was basic but a great way to start each day, and it was good to have an on-site laundry to use during a two-week visit. No hesitation - would stay at L'Appartement Hotel again.
Review 13:The beds were very hard.
Review 14:Loved the Price and Location. The room was also very very clean and it was awesome that we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. It is so close to everything and the value is amazing for a downtown hotel.
Review 15:The carpet (like many other hotel I've stayed in) is a bit old. The room was very hot when we arrived. Though opening the window cooled it down immediately. Breakfast was quite basic... mainly bread and cereals, no proteins. We supplemented our breakfast with our own grocery, cooked in the kitchen in our room.
Review 16:Travelling with a family, we always prepare healthy snack for the little children. Having a full kitchen with plates/utensils, microwave and stove is very useful. The hotel is also very close to Provigo and Metro where I shop for groceries. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. I blew the fuse by turning on the air-conditioner to cool down the room. It was late at night and the reception staff came to help as soon as he can, while giving me a reasonable explanation why he couldn't come with me immediately. WIFI signal is good for basic browsing. The business centre provides printer for printing boarding pass. The gym and pool are both simple but clean. The neighborhood feels quiet and safe. The hotel front is bright and there are no homeless people or crazy parties around.
Review 17:Temperature in room could not be controlled.
Review 18:Close to metro giving access to anywhere in city. Close to Montreal Royal. Close to any kind of eatery you can imagine. Very clean room. Very nice staff.
Review 19:No thermostat control in the room, and it was way too hot. Had to open the window, but couldn't leave it open at night due to the street noise.
Review 20:Pool and patio in the Penthouse are great. Decent continental breakfast, and coffee was very good. Love having a kitchenette in the room. Bed was comfortable
Review 21:We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a high floor 1 bed apartment with heaps of room and kitchen fully set up for independent living. Very handy to city centre and public transport .
Review 22:Continental breakfast could of been more such as egg, bacon or sausage added
Review 23:We were upgraded to a studio and it was excellent. Lots of room for 2 people. Enjoyed being able to watch tv in living and bedroom. Staff very friendly.
Review 24:Helpful friendly staff, good appartment well equiped a little dated but comfortable.Shops and supermarket just a block away.Roof terrace and pool excellent.Breakfast was very good plenty of everything.Full use of computers in reception was handy too.
Review 25:The apartment was excellent value for money the only comment I would make is that the décor was a little dated.
Review 26:Central so able to explore Montreal on foot. Very close to Via Rail Station we walked to the hotel. Excellent breakfast included in the price.
Review 27:I can't say there was something we absolutely did not like. I would suggest adding cheese to the continental breakfast selection but not if it will add to the rates.
Review 28:The gentlemen at the front desk were very polite and helpful. This place is very comfortable, clean, quiet, and excellently located near many places...good food, museums, and interesting sights. The hotel/apartment complex has an indoor pool and sauna, and rooftop terrace, all very clean and relaxing. L'Apartmente Hotel will now be our home away from home every time we travel to Montreal in the future.
Review 29:A bit of a walk from the centre of Montreal - but only 10 minutes
Review 30:Good value hotel (for Montreal) with a well equipped kitchenette in the room and a free rudimentary breakfast if you cant be bothered to shop. I went back to this hotel after tying others in Montreal.
Review 31:Indoor parking lot could be a little daunting; it was a bit challenging to turn the car around to pull out.
Review 32:We loved the pool and outdoor terrace. We also liked the breakfast and the breakfast room.
Review 33:Location was in walking distance to most of the attractions. Staff was very helpful. Facility was clean and well kept. Our room was comfortable with a full kitchen so we did not have to eat all meals out. The grocery store was just a couple blocks away.
Review 34:Would have liked hot food with breakfast, such as eggs and sausages Was disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub in the pool area.
Review 35:Like the location and the room was great. Enjoyed the pool and sauna. And the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 36:We were traveling with three children, and the two bedroom suite was perfect for our family. Kids loved swimming in the top-floor pool, and having breakfast included made it easy for casual family mornings. Location was convenient to major attractions and the metro. The desk staff was amazing, so friendly and helpful. We'd recommend the place and stay here again.
Review 37:Double bed too narrow for extended stays. Fold-out sofa not comfortable even for single nights.
Review 38:Excellent location for downtown and McGill University. Good value, but do ask for weekly and monthly discounts. Those make it great value!
Review 39:There wasn't anything we didn't like!
Review 40:We liked everything about our stay - location, property and staff, comfort. This was our second visit to L'Appartement Hotel, and we look forward to returning again.
Review 41:Nice place but there is room for improvement. The breakfast was lack luster at best. Basic toast/breads, cold cereal, unripe bananas, watered down juice and really terrible coffee. Some kind of protein and real coffee would have made it much better. The pool would have been great but it was bath-water hot. Not an enjoyable swim at all on a hot summer day.
Review 42:The staff was very nice, the hotel was clean and modern and it was pretty central to the things we wanted to do.
Review 43:The double beds are unnecessarily small. Bedroom had enough room for even a King size, but a Queen would already make a big difference. Fold-out in living room sofa-bed very uncomfortable. Far better to simply put the mattress on the floor! Improvement in beds ought to be a major focus when hotel is next refurbished.
Review 44:Excellent location for downtown and McGill University
Review 45:Breakfast layout needs a rethink, once busy it was a shambles. The person who came up with the layout gets 3 out of 17
Review 46:Hotel is in a great location, the staff are more than helpful, useful facilities as well
Review 47:The breakfast is somewhat plain (but ok if you are staying only 3 nights as we were).
Review 48:Staff was fantastic, we also got an (unexpected) upgrade from a studio to a suite, so had a whole apartment for us. Nice (and big) room, good location.
Review 49:Nothing was unlikeable. A couple of improvements would be that the mattress on the pull out bed could have had more support. The breakfast room could have had some gluten free bread.
Review 50:The staff was great and very willing to help at all times. The room was great.
Review 51:During the booking I requested a room in the higher floors of the building and I eventually got one in the second floor. Also the balcony was infested by spiders because of the street light just outside the railing.
Review 52:Children loved the penthouse pool. The room was clean and nice with a kitchen one could cook meals in if tired of eating out. Also the location is great, just a walking distance from the Mount Royal, shopping and museums.
Review 53:spacious basic comfort, not luxury, free wifi, free breakfast, and though parking was not, the charge port for my car was free. staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 54:After parking and taxes the rate advertised almost doubled (over $50 in taxes (?) alone). Montreal is tough to visit on a budget no matter how hard you try.
Review 55:No air-con in the bedroom, and the decoration is gloomy and outdated + one member of staff was very rude and ignored me completely when I was rushing back taking Sth I forgot.
Review 56:Location - spacious flat and cleaning staff were doing their best.
Review 57:The bed was way too firm for my comfort, was difficult for me to sleep.
Review 58:Staff were super friendly, I recieved a free upgrade, the rooms were really big and nice! And the free breakfast was yummy, lots of choices of muffins, croissants, fruit, etc
Review 59:Kitchen facilities in room allow full cooking. Fitness room and swimming pool are well maintained. Breakfast is healthy and varied. Cleaning personnel is friendly and efficient.
Review 60:It was noisy - cleaning staff stood outside our door and talked around 8:00 in the morning while we tried to sleep, and the air conditioner in the living room didn't have a setting where it shut off. The bedroom was hot as there was no air conditioner.
Review 61:It was convenient to walk to Old Montreal and shopping on St Catherine.
Review 62:fell short of expectations, especially when compared to past stays when I found everything to be excellent. Big issues: I was given a different room than what I had booked, and was not given a cot for our baby, despite the hotel having confirmed that one would be ready/available. Small issues: in the room, the top surfaces (tv, lamps, headboard) were dusty, the plate in the microwave was out of place - it tipped over when I put something in there to warm up - hard to see because the microwave was in a cupboard on top of the fridge, the phone was not connected and it took me a while to figure out how to plug it back in.
Review 63:Location was excellent and the amenities of the hotel (pool, wifi) were great. the bathroom was very clean.
Review 64:Nothing really... Kitchen could have been more updated (but I am looking for things to say as the place was nice and met our needs)
Review 65:Nice room - clean. Got upgraded to a two bedroom suite without us asking which was really nice. Great location and close to everything. Would recommend to anyone.
Review 66:Poor breakfast, no cheese or ham; decoration a bit dated; room smelled like dust probably because of the carpet.
Review 67:Huge room space; breakfast included; pool and gym included; great views from the pool; location.
Review 68:While the location was excellent , the rooms are a little worse for wear. Also , all rooms should be air-conditioned . An overhead fan in extreme summer hear just doesn't cut it.
Review 69:Easy access to all of downtown destinations.
Review 70:One point down because the pull-out couch was lumpy but the bed was comfortable. Also, there was only one AC unit (in the living area) and it did not quite cool the bedroom down. Thankfully there was a ceiling fan but we had the run it non stop while we were there, to make it comfortable to stay in the room.
Review 71:The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Appreciated having kitchen and utensils as we did take out on a few nights and it was nice having a table to eat at, and proper plates/utensils. The staff were friendly and accommodating (extra points for the good-looking male staff!). Breakfast room staff we very pleasant and helpful, especially Maria.
Review 72:a bit musty and rough around the edges. might do well with an upgrade, but then of course the price would go up!
Review 73:nice suite for the family, with a separate room for parents and good kitchen. pet friendly, well located, and well priced.
Review 74:Confusing on arrival at night; easier to navigate in the daylight since there were many one way streets in area; very pleasant stay otherwise.
Review 75:Parking; hotel on Main Street near McGill U.
Review 76:Coffee at breakfast. Rooms slightly dated (kitchenette), but very clean nonetheless. No obvious change room around pool?
Review 77:Pool with awesome top floor view of mountain and patio. Great spacious rooms for kids to run around (upgraded to suite). Close to 24h pharmacy. Decent breakfast. Great location.
Review 78:The elevators were kind of small and it took us several attempts to get into an elevator as we were leaving with all of our luggage.
Review 79:The availability of having a kitchen was convenient.
Review 80:Breakfast room was very crowded and needed more tables No onsite restaurant or cafe
Review 81:Staff were pleasant and helpful. Location was good and handy to downtown and restauarants
Review 82:Disappointed that our two rooms were not together or even on the same floor. The elevators were very slow. Parking lot across the street was all right but could have been better.
Review 83:We liked the pool and having our own kitchen facilities. The staff were nice and our the breakfast was convenient. It was great value for the money.
Review 84:Unfriendly staff. Terrible breakfast. 1960s room that seem to never been properly renovated. A real ripoff As it's too expensive for such basic and rundown facilities.
Review 85:Location www convenient
Review 86:The armchair in the room was too soft and unsupportive to sit in for very long. Contrary to this (and most other) hotel's policy, towels were changed even when they were hung up on the rails. If the hotel has such a policy why don't the room service staff stick to it?
Review 87:Spacious pleasant room with good storage space. Comfortable queen bed. Useful kitchen
Review 88:Not much tourist information available for those new to the city. Not even hotel amenities advertised in room. Where was the pool?
Review 89:Really great suite with small kitchen and balcony. Free breakfast in a nice room with street views.
Review 90:Love the apartment and very clean. Even a small balcony and on the Penthouse floor a sauna, laundry and pool very clean. Beautiful view of city also a garden patio out side of the sliding glass doors.
Review 91:Bathroom and furniture a bit outdated.
Review 92:Good value. Breakfast included. Close to McGill. Excellent for longer stays. Very clean. Helpful and very friendly personnel.
Review 93:Nothing.
Review 94:It was not as far from town as I thought as we walked into the old town and just got a taxi back $7/8 so that was fine. Breakfast was totally adequate.
Review 95:Nothing. For the price, everything was perfect
Review 96:We were in Montreal for two nights and had our senior dog with us. It was a challenge finding a place that takes dogs. L'Appartement did without additional fees. And, the room was very comfortable and quiet, even directly across from the elevator. The balcony was great and the AC worked well as did the fan for grey noise. We really enjoyed our stay here in all aspects, and will stay here again next time we are in Montreal.
Review 97:No pots or pans in kitchen. Poor breakfast, only breads and there were no eggs or bacons. I had to buy a pack of ham at supermarket.
Review 98:Clean and large room with kitchen. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Very fast Internet connection. Comfortable staying. Near station and bus stop.
Review 99:The hotel had everything I could possibly want. It was close to all the main attractions of the city, the view was great, the staff was very congenial, and there were the added luxuries of a gym and a swimming pool. I was given a free upgrade to a large place that was an "appartement' in every sense of the word. Breakfast offered a good selection, from oatmeal to fruits.
Review 100:The garage is under repair, and space was very tight to park and take out my van
Review 101:They upgraded us from two double bed to a two-bedroom suite which was spacious and great. Well kept and run hotel.
Review 102:Parking was OK but I figure it should have been cheaper as part of the package as there are other places to park at a cheaper rate close by. Never been there before otherwise I would have opted to park somewhere else.
Review 103:Close to all the places we wanted to visit.
Review 104:Almost nothing, maybe only the slow elevator.
Review 105:Staff was very helpful and nice, hotel has a good location, you can walk to the most turistic sites in the Montreal.
Review 106:Nothing - other than the pool was closed for renos, but you could swim at the sister hotel close by.
Review 107:Close to McGill, shopping, and I could walk to old Montreal for my exercise. The free breakfast had lots of choice and I could cook meals in my kitchen as well. Had a 16th floor view of Mount Royal and it was very quiet.
Review 108:The parking is a bit confusing and can be hectic if there is an event going on in that building..attendants were nice and helpful though.
Review 109:Just what I needed on a business trip, a comfortable living space with a full kitchen so I could cook a bit. There's a grocery store two blocks away.
Review 110:When I made the booking, I was not informed that the breakfast room, pool and spa were closed for renovation. The self-serve breakfast was inedible... For the money we spent, we expected a nicer place. The room was dingy, and the corridors were full of loud partiers.
Review 111:Instructions to use the microwave only in French Difficult for non French speakers like me
Review 112:Outstanding friendliness and efficiency of the lady at reception
Review 113:The hotel was undergoing some renovations so the business centre and pool aren't available right now. The continental breakfast was okay, but we had to take it back to our room to eat - a bit of a juggling act on the elevators.
Review 114:Really close to McGill, Metro stations and within an easy walk of St. Catherine's Street shopping. Even though the business centre was closed, the front desk allowed me to print boarding passes for our flight home. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Review 115:Wish there was a blender in the kitchen. It limited my cooking.
Review 116:Very close to McGill University. Very spacious, with the beautiful city view from the window. Love the simple but great breakfast too , and the kitchen came in handy.
Review 117:These are not so much what we did not like but more details we thought should be noted. Although the fridge got a little noisy at times I slept with my bedroom door open directly across from the kitchen and it never woke me up. Neighbors above us got noisy after dinner but became very quiet at 10 pm. The bed was very comfortable and the duvet was great but the pillows were much too soft. There was a broken tile in the bathroom and a bathtub could use fresh caulking in spots but the apartment was clean and these thing really did not bother us at all.
Review 118:The hotel upgraded us from a 2 queen bed studio to a 2 bedroom suite at no additional cost which was amazing. Friendly staff, great continental breakfast with variety of items and no shortage of food even close to the end of the breakfast hour. I have stayed in places in Canada and the US where there is limited selection unless you arrive to breakfast early so this was a nice surprise and meant we did not have to rush downstairs each morning. Convenient location, close to the Metro and key bus lines. Easy to get to the attractions. Grocery store approximately 2 blocks away. Blackout curtains were great. Overall a great stay and I would go back (this time in the summer though).
Review 119:Bed sheets & towels are really rough: would be great if they used a bit of fabric softener. Elevators are really slow, if you're on an upper floor leave 5 minutes early to account for wait time for the elevator
Review 120:The location is great and the suites are roomy
Review 121:Breakfast was verparking - some eggs and bacon would be great; would like free parking but it is downtown so understandable.
Review 122:Nice staff, great rooms, location is perfect.
Review 123:The bed wasn't the most comfy, or quiet. Breakfast wasn't the best (continental only). Esthetically, the room was kinda ugly. The wallpaper was peeling.
Review 124:The location was awesome, we could see Mont Royal from the master bedroom. The pool was heated and relaxing, and from the pool, you could see even more of Mont Royal!
Review 125:Clean and comfy. Great value and location. Free Breakfast and wifi. Friendly helpful staff. Great parking garage across the street with free unlimited in/out privileges. Nice amenities-pool, sauna, fitness and spotless. Would definitely stay here again!
Review 126:Central location next to McGill University and easy walk to Crescent St. night life, museum of fine arts, and metro. Kitchen makes extended visit more comfortable and economical. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
Review 127:The bathroom was very small. Parking was not in the hotel building but was very close (in the building on the other side of the street)
Review 128:Well located, large room (we stayed in a one-bedroom apt), great kitchen facility, good breakfast and wifi included, warm and clean pool on the roof top. Very practical when you have young children. My kids had a blast in the pool every evening!
Review 129:Staff were so-so. Breakfast was limited, and stale.
Review 130:Great location, close to subway, McGill, parks etc. Easy to get to, apartment style suite was perfect for a family getaway.
Review 131:Location, location, location! Great price for a great location! Close to downtown, friendly, knowledgeable staff! Will definitely book a 3rd time in the next couple months!
Review 132:Elevators were a bit slow, but being on the 3rd floor we could walk up and down quite easily. Breakfast area could get a bit crowded at peak times.
Review 133:The location near 2 Metro stops, right on several bus lines and next to McGill University and Mount Royal was ideal. The suite we stayed in was very spacious. Good selection for breakfast.
Review 134:The range of products for breakfast very limited. No eggs, no vegetables, no meet or fish.
Review 135:Nice pool and the terrace at the top of the building with the splendid view.
Review 136:Well, actually, there was nothing I disliked.
Review 137:Everything, specially the attention given by the hotel staff for every and each of our requests. Plus, its location near Downtown, Parc du Mont Royal and Old Montreal is a real deal!
