Reviews for High Hopes Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Christmas is not good timing for the host. She also have a family dinner so we should avoid to stay on 25th of December. But the owner was still very nice for us. Thank you Pauline.
Review 2:I really like that floor plan, bed room, bath room and middle room which we can access from the other guest room so good for group stay as well. I could see very nice snow covered mountain view from dinning area. The host is absolutely nice person and I felt very comfortable to stay there. We will definitely visit there again and recommend to our friends too!
Review 3:Freight train line runs just below High Hopes, and trains run all night blasting their horns. We got very little sleep all night !!
Review 4:Spectacular views from bedroom balcony. Owners very helpful and friendly.
Review 5:Hot water tank may be too small, had to have a cold shower in the morning, ask for earplugs to block out the night trains nearby
Review 6:Spacious room with a comfortable bed, friendly owner/operator and tasty breakfast
Review 7:Had to use a gps to find it - but it was worth it. The train tracks are not to far away but our upstairs room away from the tracks muted the train noise.
Review 8:great room and a wonderful breakfast. The place was spic and span clean We got good recommendations for a local restaurant . There are not many restaurants in Hope.
Review 9:Pauline is a very kind, welcoming host and was interesting to talk to. We were in the Bear Room which was very comfortable and clean. The house is absolutely beautiful and the location is primo. Thanks Pauline!
Review 10:Bathtub plug did not fit properly and the bath continually drained while I was bathing ... Unfortunate but nothing major. Parking would be interesting in the winter months when show abounds ...
Review 11:Stunning place, gorgeous décor, pristine cleanliness, amazing bed and linens, lovely views, quite easy to find
Review 12:Nothing at all to dislike !
Review 13:The property is simply stunning. We occupied three rooms which included the whistler suite, this is absolutely stunning and is the best room we have ever stayed in, total luxury and absolutely beautiful. The views over the mountains were to die for, absolutely wonderful. We would highly recommend a stay. The only dissapointment was we were only staying for one night!
Review 14:Map Directions to get there. Both you and google maps got it wrong. Friendly locals got us there. Unfortunately we had a music lover downstairs from 3 am. That was a shame as all else was excellent.
Review 15:Very well appointed and run
Review 16:The only dislike was temperature in our room. Had assumed a/c was an amenity, and it may have been, but were not offered it. A little uncomfortable for us spoiled Virginians
Review 17:Owners were wonderful. Quiet, serene, beautiful, welcoming.
Review 18:Air conditioning not working on a very hot night. Stuck in our room. Was not permitted to use any other part of house. No view from the back room. Beautiful view from the living room which we could not use. BTW the train passes right below this property every 1/2 hour.
Review 19:Great breakfast. Very nice house and guest rooms.
Review 20:Could hear a train close by, beds very soft which some people may like but I prefer a firmer bed an the hash browns tasted a bit freezer burnt.
Review 21:Beautiful view, the house is gorgeous, the couple are friendly and we had a patio to our room.
Review 22:You do need earplugs, which were supplied, if staying in the room overlooking the valley, but do not let that put you off.
Review 23:A wonderful home in an elevated position with marvellous views. The home has been beautifully designed and cared for. It is situated in an interesting area to explore. Take a visit to Othello Tunnels - an incredible feat of engineering.
Review 24:There is a train line that runs directly below the property so there is some train noise during the day and night. This did not disturb us too much. Ear plugs were available.
Review 25:Great value bed and breakfast in Hope. We had a very comfortable stay. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was large and spacious, and the bathroom was very clean.
Review 26:No air conditioning. It was in the high 80s and almost too uncomfortable to sleep. Frequent loud train right outside my bedroom window.
Review 27:Cleanliness and newness.
Review 28:All of our comforts had been anticipated before we arrived. Our room was beautifully appointed right down to ear plugs in case the train disturbed our rest. Charming hostess served excellent breakfast with home made jam too.
Review 29:Pauline took the time to check out with us our food preferences for breakfast. She was very friendly and helpful as we discussed our travel plans with her. She suggested possible travel routes and we discussed if it was worth crossing the border into America. I was also blogging our holiday the internet was super fast and efficient. Pictures loaded really quickly. Very happy staying there and did consider going back on our return journey back to Vancouver but took a different route. Thanks Pauline a pleasure to meet you.
Review 30:A little different to be asked to remove our shoes, but no problem. Be ready to be rocked by trains echoing through the valley (not for the light sleeper!)
Review 31:Very modern B&B in absolutely pristine condition. Welcoming host, very nice breakfast and fantastic view from our balcony across the Hope Valley.
Review 32:The only potential negative for some people is the train line right below the house, but we just took the owner's advice and closed our windows at night and that was enough to keep out the noise of any passing train.
Review 33:The out of town location high above the valley offered a superb view of the surrounding mountains from our room balcony at tree tops level. The house is very well designed and well appointed. Denise, the owner, was very helpful and she is an all-round nice person.
Review 34:The only issue we had was the lack of privacy from the Whistler Suite. it is on the main floor of the house and the from the balcony you can see into the owners living area. It would be better if there was some sort of divider put on deck for privacy.
Review 35:very beautiful suite. extremely clean and comfy bed.
Review 36:The only recommendation I would make to improve the experience is to upgrade the breakfast offering. The choices were a continental breakfast (which looked wonderful) or a basic bacon or sausage with eggs, toast and hashbrown patty - basics I cook at home each weekend. Items like french toast or eggs benedict would be in line with the rest of the quality offered.
Review 37:Loved the beautiful view, soaker bathtub, facilities to make tea or coffee or enjoy a cold beverage. Our hostess took the time to show us the amenties that were offered and seemed genuinely interested in how we enjoyed our time in Hope.
Review 38:Deluxe room with view over upper Fraser Valley, balcony, even the bathroom with a view, exclusive use of comfortable lounge connecting with the suite, very beautiful home!
Review 39:We loved our stay at High Hopes. It was our first B&B and has set a very high bar for all to follow. Amazing property. Thanks for sharing your home.
Review 40:very little, if anything; the hosts might consider a few small changes, such as a more sophisticated shower head and lamps with a bit stronger bulbs or somehow provide more reading light next to bed
Review 41:Phenomenal room; fine furnishings; superb breakfast; knowledgeable hosts; even elegant touches in bathroom soap, shampoo and lotion provisions; even the periodic train passings below the B&B were comforting
Review 42:Our stay at High Hopes was a wonderful B&B experience! The beautiful location, the spotless and well appointed accommodation, the delicious breakfast and Pauline's welcoming and helpful hosting made our stay a memorable time. We look forward to our next visit to High Hopes!
Review 43:WE wanted to stay longer and enjoy the hospitality and other delights of the Hope area. Can't wait to go back when we can relax and enjoy the area
Review 44:Pauline was a delight. My wife could not believe how clean the facility was... she thought it had just been opened. We were amazed ta the location and look forward to going back.
Review 45:The trains going by just below. However the hostess provided good earplugs and gave hints for shutting out the noise. Also the stairs were a bit much for us with a suitcase.
Review 46:Lovely house with a great view from the balcony. Very cordial and helpful hostess.
Review 47:Proximity of the CNR only a slight issue; more a feature than an intrusion!
Review 48:An immaculate property with outstanding service delivered with consummate skill. Pauline was the perfect BC hostess, ensuring our brief stay was totally memorable.
Review 49:Nothing. Even the trains didn't disturb us!
Review 50:Beautiful house and a very comfortable, well appointed room. Delicious breakfast of our choice. Great views of the mountains and the town. Very friendly and welcoming hostess.
Review 51:As already stated the location is close to the train line but we were fully aware and accepting of that.
Review 52:We booked High Hopes fully aware of the issues involving the train track nearby and it is noisy, but Pauline is a fantastic host and the quality of the rooms and fittings throughout are probably as good as we've seen in our 6 weeks of travelling through BC and Alberta.
Review 53:That we only had one night here, we would have loved to stay longer and explore the region in greater depth.
Review 54:Everything! Pauline was a wonderful host, the room and ensuite were extremely clean and every possible thing we could need was provided. This is a wonderful B&B and it was well priced. The views were amazing and the train whistle was quirky and not at all invasive. Thank you so much Pauline!
Review 55:The breakfast cook (one of the owners) was a little unsure of herself. The train tracks are right below the B & B and trains go by every hour We arrived at night and it was not easy to find the B & B in the dark.
Review 56:The house The view The bed was very comfortable The price was very reasonable
Review 57:We were aware of the trains which ran nearby although they did not really bother us. Earplugs were available if we had needed them.
Review 58:Pauline was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was great and plenty of it. The views were stunning and the house was amazing. A short car trip to the town of Hope where we had a very good evening meal @ 293 Wallace Street Restaurant
Review 59:Need to accept that Hope is quite remote - a price worth paying for the incredible scenery. Some people struggle with the nearby train line, however ear plugs are provided!
Review 60:Pauline and Larry were very welcoming, and their property is stunning and beautifully presented, with every little detail thought through. A great treat to get a hot drink delivered to our room 30 minutes before a delicious breakfast. Excellent location for visiting the Fraser canyon including Hells Gate, and a must for any Rambo First Blood fans.
Review 61:Nothing negative to say about B&B, didn't hear the train in the night but if you are travelling through this area the train is pretty much the reason these other places exist therefore it is close to most places. therefore embrace the train.
Review 62:Very helpful owner, everything was spotless , breakfast good, plenty of parking space , would definitely stay here again if ever in the area
Review 63:In fact you are living with the owner Pauline in one house. She is living at the first floor, while the guest rooms are at the second floor. First we thought that this wouldn't be a problem, but you do not have much privacy. Also you do not get a key for the house, so you're not able to come and go as you like. There is just a very small fridge for all guests so you are hardly able to cool the foods you bring.
Review 64:The breakfast was really good.
Review 65:Trains passing by on the foot of the hill are making loud horn signs even during the night. But Pauline provides very good earplugs to solve this problem.
Review 66:Everything. Awsome breakfast, perfect location, very friendly welcome by Pauline.
Review 67:Passing trains. Use the provided earplugs when you are a light sleeper.
Review 68:We booked the Whistler suite and it was beautifulll. The bathtub and the big shower in the room are super. The view from the balcony is great. The continental breakfast is delicious and the owners are very friendly and helpfull.
Review 69:A little too close to railroad tracks. Heard the rumbling frequently.
Review 70:Hostess was very friendly and helpful, the room was very nice and clean and comfortable. It was nice to have a choice of breakfast and the breakfasts were excellent.
Review 71:Pauline was wonderful. So helpful and accommodating. Gorgeous home and breakfast was delicious. We hope to be visiting Hope again and will stay there!
Review 72:There wasn't anything negative Could comment on
Review 73:The attention to detail, everything was in impeccable order and the place was spotless and absolutely nothing was broken, not working or torn.
Review 74:We didn't find one thing not to like.
Review 75:We loved the location and the view from the Eagle Room was outstanding. We were made to feel more than welcome by Pauline and Larry and the place was immaculately clean. We would stay here again in a heart beat and will recommend it to all our friends. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.
Review 76:We loved everything!
Review 77:This is a beautifully located B and B. well operated, incedibly clean and congenial. And we loved sitting on the Balcony listening to trains pass. Highly recommended!
Review 78:The train whistles during the night, and the minimal choice of eating places.
Review 79:Very pleasant hostess, who provides a very good breakfast. Nice house in a lovely position.
