Reviews for Pousada do Amparo

Review 1:Bathroom: The shower was horrible. It wasn't possible to get a good temperature for the water. The bathroom itself needs some update to now a days standard. We did hear every little noise on the street and also from the reception (we were able to see the reception through a hole in the wooden floor). Breakfast: During the breakfast, which wasn't that special, there suddenly appeared a TV film team to take a documentation over typical food in olinda Gastronomy Scene. The hotel stuff even helped them to decorate the breakfast buffet and arranged it for the TV but we and other guests weren't able anymore to have breakfast without being filmed. Dinner: The restaurant looked nice so we decided to have dinner there. It was poor that many of the ingredients wasn't available. fish, shrimps and some salad was missing and therefore most of the dishes. that was disappointing!

Review 2:Our room was quite spacious and the Pousada was good located. The view from the restaurant is nice.

Review 3:This hotel was exceeded our expectations. Rooms were nice and clean, restaurant served great food, and the breakfast was one of the best we had in a month long stay in Brazil. Great location as well. Wifi worked great too.

Review 4:some food items are on menu but not available, food could be more "creative" for the price you pay

Review 5:nice old place, good location for attending festivals and seeing live music on streets on weekends

Review 6:Upon booking I had requested a quiet room, I was given probably the noisiest room in the building facing directly Amparo street, people outside were talking and partying loudly until late at night, making sleep impossible, and this was not a weekend but an ordinary Wednesday night.

Review 7:Charming colonial building, great breakfast.

Review 8:It was okay for me but people should be aware there are no elevators and they might need to walk up a few flights of stairs. The good thing is that there are staff to help with the luggage.

Review 9:The very friendly and helpful reception and restaurant staff. Staff could speak good English and arrange sightseeing tours. The room was large and comfortable, the television had a French and some English channels, and the internet worked well even on the top floor.

Review 10:Signage was poor, we drove past it, due to the fact that there are more than one accommodation Area. Parking is limited, it will be horrible on busy times / periods.

Review 11:The Place in General

Review 12:Our room "Forro" had no glass to shut out noise from the street. People talking on the street, often loudly, are actually an unfiltered 1 meter from your sleeping head. Trucks made delivery or garbage collection at 4:00 am idling a meter away for a good 15 minutes. No sleep! Also had a 3 inch cockroach run over our faces in the bed at 3:00 am. All would have been an excellent review but for the lack of noise and bug filters on the (lack of) windows.

Review 13:Beautiful hotel with old world charm. Beautiful antique furnishing and art. Big rooms.

Review 14:Internet didn't work most of the time.

Review 15:Located close to central area with good restaurants and easy walk to beaches. Good recommendations from staff on things to do and companies to use.

Review 16:Very noisy, room was located next to the airconditioningventilator of the neighbouring room. The worst night in Brazil onour four-week-holiday.

Review 17:Staff was flexible at providing an earlier breakfast

Review 18:My room was wonderful, but the bathroom and bedroom, both behind a locked entrance door, were on two different floors. I wouldn't recommend my room for older travellers because you have to go down steep stairs to get to the bathroom. This can be difficult during the middle of the night. The other rooms appeared to not have the separation of bathroom and bedroom. May be I got this room because my rate was so low.

Review 19:We were greeted by a very friendly person behind the desk who spoke perfect English. This is unusual in this part of Brazil. We were taken to the dining area where we filled out hotel paperwork while sipping on a complimentary drink. The location couldn't be better-- close to the market, churches, bars, and restaurants.

Review 20:The whole hotel is old, although it has stile there are things especially in the bathroom which could be renewed. We slept in the room "Ampora" which is located to the street which means you a part of the street talk if you want or not, also the AC's of the other rooms are directed into your room which is quite noisy. So if you like to sleep longer than 7 in your holiday I would recommend another room because I think they are more quiet.

Review 21:We really liked the location of the hotel, the stuff was really friendly and spoke English. It has nice big rooms with 2 floors. The hotel has a really nice tropical garden with a great view on Recife.

Review 22:Little ants in the lobby - we had to leave the luggage for 5 hours there and found our bags 'invaded' afterwards :(

Review 23:Breakfast Hotel décor and furnishing Location

Review 24:Location, Breakfast, swimming pool(little but pleasant as I was alone to use it), more than 10 power sockets(220 V) in the room.

Review 25:Nada. Nothing.

Review 26:Ótimo atendimento e pousada super aconchegante. Localizaçao também é otima! Great location, staff and cousy place.

Review 27:All staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating! The manager Bento went out of his way to help us during our stay.

Review 28:Room in different building

Review 29:Excellent location, friendly service, a bit on the expensive side

Review 30:Noise from the restaurant behind the room

Review 31:The room nicely decorated Hotel with a lot of charm

Review 32:The room was at a different location, almost opposite to the main reception and in the same street. This was not a problem but the wifi did not work in the room and only in the reception area.

Review 33:Room spacious and clean; huge bathroom with jacuzzy. This pousada is in a very lovely location dowtown Olinda in a nice street close to the upper part of the city and some of the best spots for eating and drinking. Although we were a bit alerted of the noise as per other customers reviews, we stayed over the week end and it was quite and peaceful. The main building has a traditional decoration, very nice and with a rear view to the city and to a small busy garden. Really nice spot. Breakfast outstanding and very well tended. Free wifi but slow in general. Staff helpful and organized some activities for us with trustworthy drivers. Very recommendable pousada.

Review 34:- in fact nothing! - minor point: there is no elevator to bring luggage to upper floor and some rooms are on the other side of the street; but the staff is very supportive to take this task over

Review 35:+ very friendly and supportive staff + arranged room for "very late" check-out + nice local architecture and atmosphere + very good location for sightseeing as well as local bars

Review 36:There are no thick walls and you might hear your neighbors but just takeit as the flair that comes with an authentic pousada!

Review 37:We strongly recommend this pousada, for its flair, its relaxing garden, its delicious food and its very friendly and helpful staff. João fromthe reception speaks several languages and organized good-valuetransfers and rental car for us. Muito Obrigada!

Review 38:I was bit disappointed at my questions being brushed aside when I asked about local goings on - times things started and so on. And the lock on my door was almost impossible to work, my hand still hurts from trying to make it work.

Review 39:The rooms are lovely and atmospheric. The two rooms I was in had great baths too. The pool is small but good and the location in terrific.

Review 40:The hotel is completely charming. Comfortable, stylish, relaxing.Helpful friendly English-speaking staff. Good location right oppositeBodega do Veio and near several excellent restaurants.

Review 41:It is quite a walk downhill to the beach and village, but returning to the quiet of the pousada was inviting.

Review 42:The grounds, the wildlife and the breakfasts are superb.

Review 43:Hotel flexibility in correcting a problem with Booking.com reservation.

Review 44:very bad wifi

Review 45:Superfriendly staff, lot attention to detail, beatiful rooms, excellent food.

Review 46:Nada a declarar.

Review 47:Maravilhosa!
