Reviews for Festa Winter Palace Hotel
Review 1:Very friendly staff Good accommodations close to the ski slopes and the center of the city The food in the hotel's restaurant "Seasons" was absolutely delicious!
Review 2:The swimming pool inside was cold, the jacuzzi required additional payment and was not ready for use without advanced notice.
Review 3:The hotel is brand new and shiny.
Review 4:We were told the bar closes at a certain time but ended up closing earlier... this happened with other activities as well. We also had to pay for parking.
Review 5:How clean and the location as well.
Review 6:Ski storage room was problematic. It was always locked, the management of it appeared to have been outsourced, the attendant was never there and had to be telephoned to come and unlock the room.
Review 7:I've stayed here twice now and enjoy staying at the hotel but the beds could be more comfy. No tea making facilities in the room. This would be a welcome addition when I visit in 2016. Wifi in 2015 better than 2014 but still a bit slow and drops connection.
Review 8:The rooms, price & spa facilities. The hotel offers great value for money. The rooms are nicely presented and the spa facilities are always very welcome after a day on the slopes. The location is also very close to the main lifts up to the different pistes and the local restaurants.
Review 9:1. Restaurants: The most disappointing thing was the arrangements and the staff of the restaurants. The "gourmet" restaurant was reserved for a block table, practically all of the time. The "a la cart" was limited to another restaurant downstairs, much less appealing as style and location. We wanted to have dinner "a la cart" in the "gourmet" restaurant after 9 pm , when the official block table should be over, but we were refused, because obviously the restaurant staff was not OK with that! Later we found out the manager of the whole hotel was not even aware that they do this. Several waiters are totally unsuitable for a 5 star hotel! 2. The bed in our studio was a very small double. We asked for two separate duvets, and we were given one double folded in half (!) and one single - old, thin and shabby.
Review 10:The studio was very spacious, but not all are, it is a matter of chance.
Review 11:The hotel and the location is perfect, service and good attitude of the hotel manager and staff were on exceptionally high level. We were impressed by the lovely SPA centre and excellent facilities for wellness, the common areas and suite, close to most of the ski facilities in Borovets. We strongly recommend it and will be back soon!
Review 12:The room decor is very dark and dated. More than 2 lights in the living room would have been good ( Suite booked). Breakfast is maybe "Gormet" style in Bulgaria, but very 3 star from a UK 5 star perspective. The coffee was awful. The toaster did not toast. no-one has ever heard of a poached egg. The main breakfast restaurant man needs a bath! For this reason we did not book any evening meals at the hotel and eat out every night. ( We were a party of 11)
Review 13:Location of the Hotel at a quiet end of the resort is good. Room was a good size Staff were all very nice Spa is great for options and prices.
Review 14:Breakfast good, sadly evening meal disappointing.
Review 15:The Winter Palace is in a perfect position a few minutes walk from slopes and town. The accomodation is exceptionally clean, bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The spa facilities were super and very welcome after a day on slopes. As a family with teenagers the hotel catered well, small games room and snooker table, children were very welcome. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
Review 16:Ski depot was not great, closed at 1700, so no good for night skiing. Food was not great for children but when we spoke to the hotel about this they offered to cook what we asked for for the children so in the end it worked out very well.
Review 17:our room was fantastic, lots or room, very comfortable, 2 lovely bathrooms.
Review 18:The wifi did not work very well. The lighting in the room was poor, for example there was no light over the desk. The restaurant asked us to pay and move upstairs as they were closing but it was only 2240 when the official closing time is 2300. It was an okay 4star but not a 5star.
Review 19:The room was a good size and the bathroom had a large bubble bath. The rooms were carpeted which was nice for a skiing hotel. The decorations in the hotel were lovely. The swim pool was nice and warm. The location was fantastic being very close to the slopes
Review 20:One of the best luxury hotel in Bulgaria and the best stay that we have had in Borovetz. We felt like at home, the staff is polite and frendly, especially the Manager of the hotel, we do really thank him - he helped us to find the lost car key in one hour and save us a lot of problems. Everything was excellent - location, cleanliness, furnishings and design, the large room with a stunning view of the mountain, great spa center /relaxing therapy argan, rose and green tea/, and superb inner pool with 30 degrees water, restorant and calm evenings at the fireplaces.
Review 21:This is our third stay at this hotel and we like it more and more each time. We got a very nice room with view and balcony overlooking the fountain in the front. The variety of the breakfast was everything you need, served hot and fresh. We spent the evening in the spa center. Take a full classic massage and feel yourself like a newborn. Staff were nice and helpful. Overall this was another great weekend we spent in Borovets.
Review 22:The wi-fi in the room didn't work because of poor reception - maybe it was just the location of the room... .
Review 23:I liked the location (in the middle of everything), and the parking spaces - even though the ski center is full you can safely park your car, but it costs 5 eur per day.
Review 24:this was not a five star "delux" room - very dark room, much too hot, regulation of heating impossible, noisy refrigerator, narrow bed - could be used for one person but not for a couple, very uncomfortable bed; worst breakfast in a five star hotel I ever had - there was no salmon, very few sweet desserts and almost no fruits; in the spa - there was no whihrpool, the temperature of the swimming pool was below 28 degrees; the room was not cleaned every day, if the janitresses came cleaning they were very noisy, talking in a very loud voice between each others and came cleaning between 2 and 4 o'clock in the afternoon when we tried to have some rest; staff was very slow and incompetent while checking out
Review 25:good location
Review 26:food was an absolute disaster. We avoided eating there except one night where food cooked several days previously was re-heated and served cold. During breakfast, they ran out of milk!
Review 27:relatively new hotel in a good location
Review 28:There is two restaurants in hotel but both of them has same menu with total 10 foods in it. This ten foods are including salads, main dishes and deserts. You cannot find anything to eat. Open buffet for dinner is so poor and the restaurant is not enough for all guests. You have to wait to find a seat first and if you are lucky you can eat something before they finished.
Review 29:The hotel is new and the rooms are big and comfortable.
Review 30:Being critical, despite being -6 at night, we had to leave door and both windows open as room was like a furnace.
Review 31:We were part of a large contingent staying in numerous hotels in Borovets, and the general consensus was Festa Winter Palace was most impressive. Decor, room size and quality all scored top marks. ***be sure to pay Serge a visit over at the Venice Bar and Restaurant, what a character!
Review 32:shower cubicle was defect and could not be repaired in 5 days.
Review 33:Breakfast, Restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, the waiters, service.
Review 34:The VIP penthous is amazing!!!
Review 35:No parking before check in time @2pm
Review 36:Friendly staff, very clean rooms, great breakfast.
Review 37:Dinner. Very poor
Review 38:Clean, stuff, room, personal treatment, breakfast
Review 39:Lovely period building, cosy and comfortable.nice lobby bar.
Review 40:Brighter lights in bathroom pls. I was in room 37.
Review 41:Location and breakfast
Review 42:Room cleaning, no parking place available, so we had to carry a lot of heavy luggage from quite far over snow to the reception. No help!
Review 43:Location
Review 44:Parking with additional payment Restaurant is empty, food is poor
Review 45:Staff Pool Breakfast Location
Review 46:We spent there only few days, which is not enough to enjoy the beauty of the place
Review 47:Excellent place. The location is great - perfect distance from the downtown and the lift. Our room was clean and tidy. The restaurant offers tasty food with varied menu. My personal favourite part was the swimming pool because of the great winter view from the panoramic windows
Review 48:Very dirty room, there were stuffs from previous guests, the housekeepers forgot to set cosmetic kit in the bathroom (soap, shampoo, etc. ). The common areas also - not clean. The breakfast - unsatisfactory.
Review 49:The room was nice and comfortable, the location is perfect. The alacart restaurant is good.
Review 50:Not a 5 stars hotel, 3 stars maximum. Weird things like having to payfor the coffee in the room, some basics missing. Very unflexible withmodifications of reservations.
Review 51:Good location, breakfast and facilities
Review 52:Our 3 year old locked herself into our bathroom and we could not unlock it from outside so needed the porter to unscrew the lock
Review 53:We had a fantastic time. This was one of the best ski hotels we have stayed at. The staff took our special requests into consideration. The restaurant was value for money with a good selection in a formal setting. The pool was not very warm but was heated so once you get use to the temperature it was fine. Very close to the slopes. Definitely will stay again
Review 54:The room was not clean enough. There were dirty glasses and my pillow had lipstick marks. The breakfast was good but for the price and rating of a 5 star hotel it should not include cheap ham and biscuits. In my opinion the hotel is good but very overpriced.
Review 55:The location and the big terrace facing the pine trees and the mountain
Review 56:When I asked my waiter for pain killers post skiing he took it upon himself to call a doctor who the billed me for the call out at over 130lv. I appreciate that they don't hand out medicines but I would have been happy to be told that and given the choice of walking to the pharmacy which it turns out was round the corner...could have been a hugely beneficial stroll.
Review 57:The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was excellent! It has a good restaurant with reasonably priced food. Close to everything and parking at a cost was available. Very comfortable beds, nice bathroom. I was very pleased with everything when I arrived.
Review 58:Almost all services are under the level expected for a 5 star hotel: - Diluted orange juice for breakfast is unacceptable for a hotel of this rank - it represents all over service level - Very poor breakfast with slow service - 5 days to change sheets - you need a special request - Unusable closets for winter residence - Small indoor parking - Swimming pool with cold water - There are still weaknesses, depending on the location of the room ...
Review 59:nothing
Review 60:Swimming pool not open early enough for pre breakfast swim ! Breakfastavarage but up to usual Bulgarian standard
Review 61:I loved the size of the room we had acres of space ! It was warm the bedwas comfortable. We were facing the ski slopes to early to ski as out ofseason . Staff helpful attentive . Enjoyed our stay would stay again ifthe price was right !
Review 62:The central heating is being stopped in the afternoon and the night with no air condition in the room. Definitely not good in the winter and -10 degrees in the morning. Poor food on the breakfast, and not sufficient place for all guests. Very cold water in the swimming pool.
Review 63:The hotel was ok, but definitely not 5 stars. Its services, facilities, food and staff are for average 3 star hotel. Good location for ski, although they do not have any facilities as wardrobe or ski rent. Polite staff.
Review 64:The room for ski equipment was terrible.
Review 65:The staff is very friendly. The receptionist, Martin, found my €500 dropped at the front desk and delivered me. Very good behaviour
Review 66:reservation was mixed up; bathroom smells, there was mold; pool was cold; the first day there were no places in the indoor parking, but it was prepaid; food was not good; definatelly not 5 star hotel
Review 67:location
Review 68:None
Review 69:There are many untruths in the reviews submitted by the previous guests(E.G. lack of hair dryer, no slippers, no space for disposal of the skiequipment, payable sauna and steam bath, unpleasant staff, poor food, etc.) and I feel responsible to deny. For the hair dryer you should justask at the reception, ski depot is available 24/7, the food issuitable for guests in 5 star hotel with adequate manners. Allcompliments for the polite and attentive staff. Hygiene and otherservices are appropriate for the range of the hotel. I've stayed inmany 5* hotels (many of them were brands) on all continents and believeme, I never met such conditions and services for such price! Every centwas worth it.
Review 70:extra bed in room was very small and uncomfortable. no hairdryer in room. tv only had 1 channel in english.
Review 71:the proximity to the slopes.style of the hotel. the spa area.
Review 72:There is a ski storage room for hotel guests, which is great. Howeverthe room is outside of the hotel, and the only way to get to it is tohave the doorman open it for you, which can be a real inconvenience. Fora winter hotel in a ski resort, this is not at all guest-friendly. Thestorage room should definitely be inside the hotel. The orange juice at breakfast was from concentrate. I do not expect that freshly squeezed juice is served, however to serve orange juice from the lowest quality concentrate for a 5* hotel is not acceptable.
Review 73:The hotel is very well located; the design is very nice; the rooms arespacious and warm.
Review 74:When I went to pay my bill they tried to charge me a lot more than theprice you gave me, which took approximately 45 minutes to sort out andthat meant the taxi having to wait 20 minutes for us.
Review 75:Hotel was lovely, convenient and clean. Good food.
Review 76:the room was not cleaned properly in the bathroom where traces of soap in the soap holder and the toothbrush holder...and no 24hr roomsevice...wich is (i think) normal for 5 star hotel..
Review 77:i like the rooms...food is good..friendly staff
Review 78:Some simple conveniences were not there - E.G. no hair dryer, no powerplug in the bathroom. Though the hotel is named as a spa, you do need topay for the steam bath and sauna. The Wireless internet was extremelyweak/slow. Receptionists can smile. Not just in the beginning and duringour stay but also when we leave.
Review 79:Nicely surprised with all the accessories in the bathroom. I havevisited a lot of 5 star hotels in W. Europe but none had bathroomaccessories like this hotel offered- toothbrushes with toothpaste, hairbands, etc etc. It was extremely clean. The rooms were very spacious.Well furnished. Breakfast was delicious and offered everything fromscrambled eggs, to cooked sausages, fruit, cheeses, different sweet andsavory spreads, yoghurts, musli, pancakes, etc. Ski pists are very closeto the hotel, you can also rent the skis from there (we did not as thereare a few more options where you can rent your skis directly next to theski slope-I.E. No need to carry them)
Review 80:Considerate personal attention. we received free upgrade to a rather splendid suite
Review 81:Everything was ok
Review 82:fireplace in the lobby
Review 83:Not clean
Review 84:nice htel but absolutly not 6 star hotel maby 4 stars
Review 85:its nice hotel located close to the lifts
Review 86:No tea or coffee facilities in room. Plus the information book wasincorrect on all timings.
Review 87:The large comfortable beds with luxury bedlinens.
Review 88:spa area did not have a pool to relax or one suitable for the kids as the pool water was cold (not 27 as mentioned)
Review 89:good service, nice location
