Reviews for Warere Town House
Review 1:The mattress has probably done its job already, I felt I was sleeping in a ditch the whole night.
Review 2:Great to arrive and get a cold, wet towel to clean my hands after a long travel. We also got a glass of delicious juice! The reception staff Kombo is very friendly and service minded. Well worth staying here when in Stonetown!!
Review 3:The house is located by the fish market in an interior alley. Dirty, smelly and far from the tourist places. Need to walk in dirty streets under construction. Taxi was cheap 2$, but not easy to find in the way out. Room tiny with a big bed place in the middle, so room was just 4 corridors around a bed. Did not have enough space to complitly open your elbows in any place of the room. Tiny bathroom, again need to get into shower to open your elbows. Window when closed have openings of more than 1 cm in the superior part, no mecanism to keep it close just the friction with the frame. So you need to keep the exterior dirty mosquito screem shut in order to keep mosquitos out an air condition in. Light would not come in when mosquito screem were close. Drepessing place. Will never came back.
Review 4:It has Air condition in the room, bed huge and confortable. The AC had a hard time cooling the room and was very noisy, but at night the temperature was ok. We slept well.
Review 5:Bad location in an area with is not ideal for walking. We asked for a wake up call which we didn't receive.
Review 6:Friendly staff. Clean room. Cute little roof terrace.
Review 7:The staff was slow and not smiley...helpful tho. Breakfast should be earlier like 6:30/7am
Review 8:The building is Beautiful, rooms clean and comfortable, The breakfast on The rooftop, The location is Great only 1o/15 min from The centre. We booked Spice tour and prison Islands tour through The hotel and both were Great !
Review 9:Access to the property was a bit tricky.
Review 10:Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff we helpful and friendly. The WiFi was consistent and available in-room and elsewhere on the property. The breakfast was great.
Review 11:bed was shaky, noice from neighbourhood in my room, since that are traditional houses the comfort is limited, steep stairs, but ok for a guesthouse
Review 12:Friendly staff, nice old Sansibar House, that has been renovated and set up in a traditional style, nice terrace with sea and habour view, medina of Stone town just starts from there, port just in front of you
Review 13:The location is not the best, because the hotel is located at the darker end of a not so busy part of the town. But it was alright.
Review 14:The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice, the view fron the terrace awesome!
Review 15:Lovely old restored building, friendly helpful staff, delicious and substantial breakfast on the terrace included in the room price - will definitely come back!
Review 16:Good location - not far from the city center. Friendly staff. Room is not big and needs some renovation, but clean. Free wifi, breakfast is served on the top with good views!
Review 17:A bit far from the rest of the 'tourist area' e.g. dive shops etc.
Review 18:TURTLE sanctuary on premises, friendly staff, excellent value for money, in the middle of the traditional fishing village
Review 19:The only down side is that the bathroom was not completely separated from the room so it was a bit uncomfortable.
Review 20:The hotel was small and very nice. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The breakfast was on the roof terrace.
Review 21:The air con wasn't great and the fan was a little noisy but the lovely room Made up for it!
Review 22:Really friendly staff, great location. Lovely rooms and really spacious!
Review 23:I wish I didn't have to leave.
Review 24:The beautiful, well kept building and decor. It reminded me of a Moroccan Riad. The location was perfect to get to the ferry port, night market and other places of interest.
Review 25:Hotel is located a bit inside from the road. If you coming not by taxi, I'm not sure if it is possible to find the hotel by yourself. When you coming out on the road there is fish market just opposite with not the best smell. Recommendations of the hotel staff about places to visit or directions, where not correct.
Review 26:Rooms are good, comfortable, with hot shower. Nice embiance and decor of the hotel. Wi-Fi was available in the rooms.
Review 27:Breakfast selection was very poor. Wifi is slow... We were overcharged for the room just because it had a balcony which we did not request for.
Review 28:Fine location, relatively clean hotel... Staff is helpful but very slow. Good organisation of tours and transfer.
Review 29:Black outs do occure (as in the rest of the island) and the generator is not a great backup.
Review 30:Friedy staff helping with excursions, taxi, etc. The room with balcony I got was really comfortable. Position is not the most central in Stone Town, but I enjoyed these 5-10 minutes walking from the main square. I liked also the hotel is next to Mercury's, good restaurant and place to get the last cocktail of the day ;)
Review 31:Location is a bit tricky: Next to fish market and behind local houses...so if you come back at night can get lost as there are no light... Better stay next to the Gardens
Review 32:Big second bed and big shower. Interior was nice, clean, nice decoration. Tiny balcony Nice breakfast on the roof. Not much choice but tasty.
Review 33:Unfortunately the wifi didn't work in my room, but in the hallway or reception it worked except for one night when it was really slow. The breakfast wasn't very interesting, bread with butter and jam and some fruit.
Review 34:Really cosy little hotel and even though the room wasn't very big, it was beautiful with a big zanzibari double bed. The hotel is close to the ferry station and a little walk to get to the central parts of town, but this made it quiet and it didn't take more than 5-10 minutes. The staff was wonderful and after staying for only two nights before going to Kendwa for a week, they offered me to come back to leave my bag and have a shower before my flight. I wish I had spent more time there, because I really felt at home.
Review 35:Wi-Fi did not always work well.
Review 36:Clean and cheap hotel with very friendly staff. Located very close to the ferry station (convenient if you are heading to Zanzibar). 10/15 min walking from Stone Town (Fruit and Spices Mkt as well as restaurants/bars area by the sea side). People in reception organized our transfer to Northern Zanzibar at good price. Very nice rooms. Nice terrace to have breakfast or chill out in the afternoon. Definitely recommended.
Review 37:Room #1 which is downstairs is a bit loud and it also didn't have wifi so we had to go to the lobby which was annoying.
Review 38:Great value, clean and nice. They also arrange transports, tours, etc.
Review 39:The room was a little small - but mainly because the lovely four poster bed took up most of it!
Review 40:The breakfast was great, and we loved the design of the place and the decor.
Review 41:For me it was perfect. However, there are steep stairs and the roomsmight be small for two ( I was solo) and basic. The bedsight be high forshorter folk. You need to turn the water heater on for 20 min so planyour shower. It is a five to ten minutes walk out of the main area but Ifelt very safe and the assistant manager walked a short cut witH me tomake sure I didn't get lost. None of these were negatives for me butmight hinder others.
Review 42:The staff were very friendly without being intrusive. They answeredannoying questions very politely. They set me up well and left me aloneto enjoy. I should have asked about a share taxi but that was my error, not talking to the staff sooner. Nice to have an honour bar on theterrace for beer and soft drinks. Much cheaper than outside and a greatplace to chill out. A few mosquitos if the wind died down. I actuallytried to change my other booking to stay here again as it was half. Theprice and quiet. Just down the street was a miskac (meat skewers) stallthat was delicious and a coffee corner for the men. Able to pay withcredit card or cash and they sorted out a change issue with my taxidriver. More than willing to go the extra mile.
Review 43:Hard to find at night. Suggest get their airport shuttle taxi
Review 44:In Stone town. They organised tour. Close to restaurants and ferry. Had balcony room which was good
Review 45:It is so closed to ferry and port, it could be advanteges for someone, but I had not a good feel. We were there over the ramadan.
Review 46:Warm welcoming with very nice smell napkins and homemade ginger limonade. Very nice, clean room, comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast on the top of the roof, there you can also have a beer or some drink. Staff were very friendly and nice especielly blond girl from north, who is working here. She recommended us too much useful advice.
Review 47:room was pretty small: backpack fits besides bed, but a suitcase would not be possible.
Review 48:felt very clean, best and cleanest towels we've seen in Africa so far, roof top restaurant/bar, close to ferry, helpful staff. while the rooftop restaurant is "hotel priced", you can also use it for take-out food from the nearby location.
Review 49:The room, quirky it may be but far too small. Amazing bed but too enormous for room size and very high to climb on to. Also bed too short as though end cut off to get it in room. No room to move or put cases. Literally stepping on toes and having to squeeze past. No view only of neXt doors soil pipes.
Review 50:Lovely old building in an interesting part of town. Nice roof top where breakfast was served. Honesty book for beer and water - cheap for hotel.
Review 51:The location was great in Stone Town,as most excursions were free pick-up,and very good inexpensive food available close-by. People were very friendly and helpful.
Review 52:I can't use the internet in my room(first room) and at the night, it was noisy a little because of closed with the front. I stayed for 2days, but not everyday clean service.
Review 53:Good location, great breakfast, friendly staffs, clean room
Review 54:I asked for the airport pickup and even though I exchanged several emails with the management, nobody waited for me in the airport. However airport taxi costed the same as the pickup from the hotel, and taxi driver knew where to go and "delivered" me to the door (otherwise the place is not easy to find).
Review 55:Nice place in walking distance to everything you need in Stone Town. Very reasonably priced and includes good breakfast. Tours booked through the guest house are also well priced. Staff is friendly, speaks English and gave me a lot of tips about Stone Town.
Review 56:Rooftop bar could be better lit in the evening.
Review 57:Being met from the ferry terminal. Rooftop area for breakfast with good food. Authentic feel to property.
Review 58:The staff is really friendly and helpful. They even allowed us to store some baggage for five weeks while we were exploring the island. The place has a really nice atmosphere and is in a beautiful Zanzibar villa.
Review 59:our room was very dark as the balcony was covered by huge tree, nice shadow but also kept humidity in the room and you could smell it. Not much they can do about it as in this climate it was the issue in same other places as well.
Review 60:absolutely perfect service, the receptionist is the soul of this place, very nice, polite and helpful, offers advice, gives u a city map with explaining where and what, can organize trips, taxi without being obtrusive and raising prices. Prison island trip just for three of us - our son was charged only £5 with a very nice boat man/guide + snorkelling on the side. Decoration in a very colonial style (doors, beds and decoration), very quiet place, perfect location, 1min walk from marina and fantastic Mercury restaurant, safe area, nice family of three sweet cats outside the building, nice place to be in general
Review 61:It was a bit hard to find the dark. We went to the night market and returned around 10pm. The location is not on the street and we had to navigate through a rock path to find the entrance, which was well lit.
Review 62:The staff was amazing and accommodating. We had a 6am flight and they ensured we were going to have pick up at 315am. The morning staff even prepared us breakfast to go.and Wifi was good, and the water pressure was ok. The water was very hot so that was amazing, and the aircon worked well.
Review 63:Room very cramped.
Review 64:Close to ferry port snd easy to find. Air conditioning. Helpful staff especially Patrick. Good breakfast. Nice terrace with honour bar.
Review 65:Only negative thing was the small fountain they had in the hallway that wasn't working. The water was stagnant and we all know that attracts mosquitoes.
Review 66:Very kind and helpful staff. We were given a map of Stone Town and shown places we could visit. They also helped us print out our plane tickets free of charge. Place was nice and clean.
Review 67:The wifi was a bit slow in the rooms on the last floor.
Review 68:The honesty bar on the roof top with reasonably priced water and beer (not easy to find in the shops!) saved us in the extremely hot Stone Town :) The welcome drink and wet towels was a great touch which certainly exceeded expectations. The stuff were extremely helpful with advices on dining and helping us get fair prices for trasnport to other Zanzibar locations.
Review 69:A few of the fixtures in the room were in need of repair but the staff took note and did what they could while we were still in the room.
Review 70:From airport pickup to check-in and check-out the staff were extremely helpful. Even had a car seat for the pickup. Breakfast on the rooftop was a great way to start the day and rooms were comfortable. Location is great, with the heart of Stone Town an easy walk away.
Review 71:I didnt mind being in the other end of Stone Town, away from the parties and all the turist shops. The roof top was very nice, and breakfast fair value for the money.
Review 72:The smell of moist was a little bit distracting, but I didn't mind as my main goal was to see Stone Town. The wifi on the upper floor is also not that fast.
Review 73:The location of the guesthouse is good 7-10 mins walking from the Old Fort and the heart of Stone Town. Value for money is appreciated. On a separate note thank to Essi at reception who gave me a very warm welcome and made me feel like guest at her house. All other staff are also friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the rooftop was a great start of the day. Would definitely recommend to those who is mainly staying for the purpose of seeing Stone Town. Quiet area will make you rest very well at night.
Review 74:It is behind another building , even no soap in the bathroom has to wait fot 20 min for hot shower , breakfast weak and staff not interested with you . 5 percentage extra charge for credit card .
Review 75:Free wifi helpfull , reception staff , close to ferry . aircon .terace wiev.
Review 76:The wifi didn't work in the bedrooms and it was a little slow at times. Any transport is quite expensive, you can get local transport to the East coast for $2AUD and the hotel charges $40AUD for a private cab. The tour we took through the hotel didn't go to plan, we didn't take a traditional boat (to the tortoise island) and we didn't actually get to snorkel - was due to weather but we then shouldn't have been charged the same cost. The shower had very low pressure which made showering a slow process. To get to the door you have to go behind other buildings, would be VERY hard to find without help and is a little concerning to walk alone at night. Nothing happened, but some of the girls alone didn't want to walk to town after dark - not in the hotels control though. There is no view from the rooms.
Review 77:Breakfast was AMAZING. We left each day full and satisfied. The rooftop eating area is lovely too. The wifi works in public areas such as the foyer and rooftop. The rooms are small but comfortable, the beds and mattress large and comfortable. The bathrooms well styled. The rooms have air conditioning and large mosquito nets. We had lovely cooled and perfumed face-wipes cloths and a cool lemon fresh drink upon check-in, which unnecessary, and you pay for it in the overall cost, but nice. The staff were lovely and helpful. Is a very short walk to the main attractions. One key for the rooms so it's safe.
Review 78:Length of bed - extremely shot (for a person of cc 170 cm). My husband is 190cm and slept diagonally. Bathroom needs renovation and more cleaning.
Review 79:We stayed in Warere house for 2 nights and we liked it. Location is in 5 min walking distance from Ferry (even with a suitcase on the wheels you can reach it) and 5-15 min from all sights in the downtown. Good silent air-con. Window nets, laundry service. Helpful polite staff, free Stown town maps. Dinners menu available (have to choose of cca 12 dishes until 15:30). Soap, clean towels. Felt safe and welcome. City tour was a great thing to order. It cost 20 doll for 2 persons and took 5 hours :)
Review 80:Localtion. A little bit too far from things if you are a girl getting to the hotel at night. Would not walk alone here, not many other people. Located behind the commercial harbor
Review 81:Cute, smal and nice hotel. Staff was very nice, helpful, attentive. Aircondition and fan, clean. Free breakfast at the rooftop! Good with eggs, pancakes. Honor bar with water, beer and sodas. The hotel arrange trips at reasonable prices, we did both prison island and spice tourh
Review 82:Very friendly and helpful staff, tasty breakfast on the little rooftop terrace. Located just outside the town centre but close to all the main sites, restaurants, etc.
Review 83:Nothing
Review 84:Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Very nice roof terrace for breakfast. Excellent arrangements for being collected for the 5 minute walk from the port to the hotel. Very good and reasonable transfer arrangements for onward travel if you want it. The hotel organised a very good spice tour/beach visit, and we used the excellent driver thereafter.
Review 85:Location is close but very busy during port hours. Conversion rate when not paying in schilling was not the best
Review 86:Great (selection of local breads, omelet, sausage or pancakes) and helpful staff with setting up tours. I recommend booking a taxi on your own but other than that the spice tour was great. Comfortable and a ten minute walk from the center of stone town.
Review 87:Everything was great!
Review 88:Very clean rooms with both fan and air conditioner. Fresh juice and cold towel on arrival. Friendly staff helped organize anything you wanted to do. Breakfast selection was good and yummy :)
Review 89:There is no paved path to the hotel from the street. So, when it rains it is indeed muddy. I suggested to them to reach out to the municipality with the proposal that they split expenses to make the path more pedestrian friendly.
Review 90:Welcome ginger lemonade beverage and the fastest internet connection in all 7 Tanzanian hotels I stayed in. The big plus is their friendly staff who helped me sort out some lodging issues. They offer tantalising Tanzanian and Zanzibarian dinners that guests should try at least once.
Review 91:Water pressure in the shower could have been better for this price. It took a long time to have a proper shower.
Review 92:Nice and firm bed, quality aircon, helpful staff.. Oh, and breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a view was also very nice!
Review 93:Not in the greatest part of the town. Rooms are very small.
Review 94:Good value for money! Friendly and helpful staff. Roof top bar and restaurant was great. Organised the safari blue for us. Suggested restaurants.
Review 95:During the night we had troubles to sleep, because the bed was not so comfortable and outside it was a bit noisy during the early morning...
Review 96:the staff was really helpful and friendly, the hotel and our room was clean, and the breakfast was good.
Review 97:Little dangerous in the night, little bit noisy
Review 98:Very friendly stuff, helpful, nice roof restaurant with nice city view, the location very close to ferry and to port
Review 99:I liked everything about this place. Nicely appointed room, pro-active staff offering the best information and a location just minutes from everything but not in the center of it all and the high price that goes with it. And still the Zanzibar feel of back alleys. I'd stay there again and advise my sister to stay there too
Review 100:Distant from Stonetown restaurants and shops, sketchy area at night. Our major problem was the young man managing the day-to-day operations. He seems to have a problem with honesty. He lied to us numerous times and tried to over-charge us by $20 USD. The manager was unavailable repeatedly throughout a 24 hour period. I read the hotel's procedures, which sat on the table next to the bed, and as recommended requested a later check-out time, noon instead of 10am. The young man told me that was not possible, that the hotel was full and my room was promised for early check-in. My wife and I checked the website the night before and there were 7 rooms available to book. When we checked-out, there were more than 4 rooms empty. I was forced to be aggressive and ignore the young man, refusing to give-up my key until noon. The young man then tried to over-charge us, at which point I let him know that he had an issue with honesty. Very disappointing.
Review 101:It's a beautiful little place, great decor and very close to the ferry.
Review 102:The soaps in the bathroom were too tiny! Breakfast was ok, but the variety of items on offer is a bit limiting.
Review 103:The receptionists were really kind, proffesional and helpful. Its clean, quiet and feels more like a home. Very relaxed atmosphere yet services are rather efficient.
Review 104:The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was great and the rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. The breakfast was delicious! I would stay here again without question.
Review 105:Beds are too short. Cockroch in the bathroom. Hotel wanted to charge 5% on the room bill because we used the credit card that we had given to booking.
Review 106:That the hotel was surrounded by dark alley ways.
Review 107:The friendly and welcoming staff that provided excellent service.
Review 108:Acces to the hotel. Noise from neighbourhood
Review 109:Clean room with AC Nice terrace with habour view. Good breakfast. Location.
Review 110:Fantastic, friendly staff willing and happy to arange anything from walking trips to vehicle hire
Review 111:Great, spacious room, air con, beautiful beds and balcony
Review 112:The area
Review 113:Friendly atmosphere n also warere in Nungwi is soooo nice. New building only opened on Tuesday.
Review 114:- wifi failed 2 of 3 evenings - water pressure -
Review 115:+ a/c + nice inferior decor + breakfast + roof terrace honor bar
Review 116:Almost no waterpower in the shower, maybe because the cold tap didn't work.
Review 117:Very nice and helpfull people
Review 118:Good place, nice staff, good breakfast on the roof. Good value for money.
Review 119:A bit out of the way from the main sights of Stone Town
Review 120:Nice rooms and roof top area. Great valie
Review 121:A bit away from main area of town. Still only a short walk though.
Review 122:Very clean. Rooftop breakfast spot
Review 123:Reasonable rates
Review 124:No hot water in my room, location not the safest
Review 125:Very helpful staff, good breakfast, short walk to main attractions
Review 126:Location is quite bad, many animals (cats, chickens running around), the smell is not pleasant.
Review 127:Staff is very helpful
Review 128:Nothing, all was good.
Review 129:Location, staff, room, breakfast...everything was great!!!
Review 130:The bes was a little awkwardly high.
Review 131:Liked the breakfast on the roof, the balcony and the staff.
Review 132:everything was just fine
Review 133:- friendly, helpful staff - breakfast - free shower after check out - roof terrace - close to the ferry
Review 134:Lovely staff, helpful and friendly. I liked being a little away from the main tourist beat. A good base for exploring Stone Town and the island.
Review 135:No towels in room
Review 136:Best breakfast in Zanzibar Great staff
