Reviews for Family Hotel Yatrus

Review 1:Parking is limited and not much can be done about that. Restaurant serves breakfast, but it would be better if it were more like the French, with a few cold cuts and a variety of cereals and baked goods. With one person serving and cooking the result is not satisfactory. I'd rather be able to serve myself.

Review 2:Great views. Easy to walk to other parts of old town. Hotel staff, two of whom pictured below, are friendly and helpful. Smoking is not allowed inside the hotel, which I consider a plus.

Review 3:Breakfast was basic but not too bad, bathroom needs some attention but wasn't grossed out or anything

Review 4:Close to the ruins and the town, some staff friendly

Review 5:The shower cabin had a big hole right in the middle. The people working in the hotel are not very welcoming

Review 6:The location. The bed was good and the bed sheet smelt good.

Review 7:Nice view over part of the nearby fortress Very cozy Parking spots nearby Great personnel Very close to the Architect Club which is a good place to eat

Review 8:We had a great stay here. The rooms were comfortable (and currently in the process of being refreshed) with superb views, the staff were all super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We wouldn't hesitate in coming back

Review 9:Some things in the rooms were very cheaply made. We had two rooms, and in each of them, a different panel was missing from the shower. We also had some issues with the restaurant. When we were checking in, we were told we could go up to the restaurant for dinner if we wished. It was pretty late and we were told the restaurant had a nice view (which it did), so we decided not to go to a place downtown, as we had originally planned. The person at the restaurant, who was nervous about having to fill in for the usual cook, got very upset about us coming up without having reserved dinner. We ended up leaving, since we were made uncomfortable by the whole situation.

Review 10:The location right next to the wax museum and near Tsarevets was great. The view from the castle view room was pretty, although if you expect to see Tsarevets, be prepared to crane your head out the window (it actually faces Trapezitsa, where the excavation and restoration of the castle ruins has not been completed yet). The people at the front desk were friendly and courteous. Hopefully the new management of the hotel will help to fix some of the issues we encountered.

Review 11:The hotel, the staff and the location (wow!). From our room we had a view towards Trapezitsa and Tsaravets. Very pleased and impressed by this hotel, hope to stay again some time!

Review 12:Restaurant girl - complaint made to reception. Obvious problems & did not provide me with a service & last problem was being given a cold dinner. Reception will deal with this problem I am sure

Review 13:Hotel although 10 minutes from City centre was served with regular bus's. The reception & housekeeping staff were kind - polite & helpful. They made me feel very welcome and assisted me 100% with all my needs

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:Excellent value , very good location , easy walk to shops, restaurants, bars etc .Good size room with good amenities . Lovely top floor restaurant with stunning views across to fortress. Helpful English speaking staff . Breakfast was simple but tasty and adequate , Would definitely stay again.

Review 16:I don't know where the high scores are coming from. The hotel's negatives: - Busy road just a meter from the window - cars are driving next to your window (the hotel is in the heart of the city but just next to the road). - Stinky room. - The shower cabin was leaking, thus water on the flower. - Floor is tiled thus very cold (in the beginning of October). - Terrible mattress!!! I could feel it's every framework wire. Stay away from this hotel! The other night I spent in the Tarnava Hotel a dozen meters away. Much better!!!

Review 17:- Central location. - Price. - Several parking spots next to the hotel, if you are lucky. - Fridge and hair dryer. - Breakfast included.

Review 18:The only negative thing is the noise. Although it's common for a hotel to hear pretty much everything from the other rooms, the fact this one is on a main road makes it really impossible to keep an open window.

Review 19:Second stay at this property, first one was 3 years ago. This was way better as the main improvement was the staff. Excellent, professional and friendly attitude both at the front desk and restaurant. Plus you have a really great location, great view to Tsarevets and Trapezitsa and easy access to everything in old and new part of Tarnovo.

Review 20:Moisture smell in the room; different oppinion about staff: in the evening, great helpful lady, in the morning breakfast as served by another lady that seemed to be angry with us and the receptionist couldn't give any help as her english was really limited. Poor breakfast. Overpriced

Review 21:Excellent position, great views, clean.

Review 22:Not a luxury décor, but good clean basic rooms.

Review 23:Friendly staff; great location. Meals served at half pension were great with a variety of choices and good value. We had a fantastic view.

Review 24:The dinner is fantastic, both amount and quality. The person who served us speaks spanish as well, very nice woman who made from the dinner a great time. Views from the restaurant to the old city. Location is perfect to visit the old city. Also good place for climbers, since there are several spots around, just a few minutes by car.

Review 25:Nothing to report, maybe someone should teach the breakfast lady to smile sometimes :) She's always very serious...

Review 26:Good transit hotel for us, but I think also can be good for staying a while in Veliko Tarnovo. We like the helpful lady that indicated us the evening event, and speaks bulgarian, romanian and english all together ... you are very nice and kind.

Review 27:Nothing!

Review 28:The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Even made us a packed breakfast, as we had to leave too fast for the actual breakfast. The room we stayed in was decorated to an very high spec. and was very comfortable. The location is part of the old town and overlooks the gorge and the castle. The views from our room was both of these! We plan to use it as our base when we come into the town again and again.

Review 29:Excellent position, very nice family room with view to the castle, breakfast ok, excellent dinner, friendly staff especially the lady from the dinner who speaks a little romanian too. Parking place in front of the hotel. We will come back, we recommand this place.

Review 30:The bed mattress it was broken and has arches out. In the rooms, at the second floor, the wifi not functions. The floor in the room it was old. The shower has a little defect.

Review 31:Is situated near to center. The restaurant, the breakfast and the dinner it was ok.

Review 32:Bathroom door of shower appeared to missing. Could have had better information about Public transportation options.

Review 33:Dinner was a pleasant suprise and room had a great view.

Review 34:You have to choose your breakfast a day before, but even if it looks small it is consistent.

Review 35:The location is great and offers easy access to the city and also to the Tsarevets.

Review 37:Great scenery view.

Review 38:The sower leaked so much water, you could take a bath on the bathroom floor after the sower. The bathroom sink was splashing all around if you turned it on. The room had a bad smell, and the air conditioning exterior unit was right outside the window, so it made alot of noise by night. The breakfast was not safe to be eaten: the salami and the cheese were hot, as kept for hours on the plate before serving.

Review 39:Location is one of the best in town. Near the fortress, and a 5 minutes walk to the best restaurants in town. The staff was very helpful and that was a plus for the hotel. The room was clean.

Review 40:Hmm, where to start. First thing to note is Veliko Tranovo has a bad traffic problem with the hotel being located on a mian through rpute, on a steep slope, so lots of engine revving. Unhelpful staff tried to shoe us away as we arrived on bicycles, despite having a reservation for two nights. Once that was sorted we were shown to a room ( 205 ) on the first floor, where the traffic was literally inches from the window. Husband immediately said no, so I went to reception to ask for a room on the next floor up. Oh dear. Reception staff rude, aggressive, and stated that the hotel was full therefore no other rooms available, and it was all our own fault for booking the hotel (?!??). Knowing it was off-season I thought it unlikely the hotel was full, so just kept asking them what they proposed to do for us. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, the hotel manager was telephoned ( he was elsewhere ) and to his credit immediately offered us a room on the floor up, as I had originally requested. Yep, of course there were other rooms available, so what was that all about? Awful woman on reception was then as nice as pie to us for the rest of our stay.

Review 41:Hotel restaurant has fabulous views of the valley and Tsaravets. Food average. We had a pleasant stay after the issues below were resolved.

Review 42:the reception lady could not speak such a good English and that's why we get different breakfasts.

Review 43:Very nice position and view, nice breakfast. We were not let to take the bikes inside the room, but they locked our bikes inside the Jacuzzi room :)

Review 44:The room didn't have one bed as I selected in the reservation. Also, the windows were at street level, it was under ground floor. The shower cabin was broken, the water was flooding the bathroom.

Review 45:The location is ok.

Review 46:The wifi was almost constantly stopping - very very bad connection. However, when I asked at the reception, the woman let me use the private wifi, which had worked great. Plus - the sauna was not working and the fitness is just two bycicles.

Review 47:It was a very nice location and breakfast.

Review 48:When I was there the POS terminal was not functioning. But maybe this was not a fault of the hotel.

Review 49:Fine location close to both the Carevec castle and the old town. The hotel has private parking spaces.

Review 50:The wifi not working on an ios device and the parking can be a problem if the city is too visited.

Review 51:The location was great, with view over the old ruins and the staff try to give us all we need. The wifi works excellent on an android device.

Review 52:Fantastic views, love waking up and see forest, streams and castle. Good brekky in restaurant with great views too. Managers are helpful and attentive to customer needs.

Review 53:Standard of rooms. Totally shabby. Shower leaking. Towels totally worn out. Bedding shabby.Everything tattered. Quality of bedding extremely worn out. Old.

Review 54:Location

Review 55:- the bed sheets and towels are very used over the time - bathroom stinks so you have to keep the door closed if you don't want to smell neighbors dirt - they accepted at check in only cash (?!?) - rooms are not soundproof at all: you can hear all the cars passing by, all the neighbors noises and if you are below the restaurant (room #305) you don't want to imagine how is it - in the rooms there are only twin beds - NOT queen bed - our TV , despite the fact is 11" (minuscule), didn't work at all - the breakfast is less than poor - I got on the second day of Easter only a quarter of an egg - staff doesn't speak English - so there is a communication barrier As a conclusion I wouldn't recommend at all

Review 56:location - close to the castle with castle view

Review 57:There was no parking only public parking in a very busy tourist area. WiFi did not work. Staff service was very poor The room was not too clean

Review 58:The restaurant had a good view

Review 59:This time we found shower only had 1 shower door so rating sufferedbecause of this. I do so wish hotel owners would get on top ofmaintenance, especially over shower conditions it is important.

Review 60:Stayed at this hotel several times before and location is fairly centraland rooms are quite big.

Review 61:The staff here are brilliant, they cannot do enough for you, the food is great and the view from the restraunt is spectacular looking straight out to the castle, perfect place to sit and watch the light show. The rooms have everything you need they are abit basic but clean, modern and very comfortable.

Review 62:Just about everything . Towels in the room are charged extra , and they had holes in . Parking is available if there is a space , which most of the time there isn't . bathroom needs updating . breakfast is extremely basic and the staff miserable .

Review 63:location was good . the only other thing was the price .

Review 64:As said before slightly odd bathroom setup but perfectly adequate

Review 65:Huge room with wrap around baloony overlooking fort and river. Small sitting area with sofa. Tea making facilities in the room which is a first for us in BG.staff always available and helpful.the only thing we could criticise, if we were being picky would be the odd arrangement of the bathroom on different levels with a glass door, albeit frosted. Amazing value for money including breakfast. A and b rooms have the balcony.

Review 66:No request solved, despite the fact I made the the reservation two weeks before the trip. I requested upper storey, quiet room, king size bed, and I received none of that... Small bed, old matresses, broken shower tub, almost invisible 10 inch TV... The room was literally on the street, with traffic 2 meters from the bed, awfully noisy...and the worst and poorest breakfast ever had in my life at any hotel in the world...

Review 67:Position

Review 68:There was only parking in limited spaces in the road outside. We were lucky to get a space in March - should think it is impossible in the high season and no parking available nearby. We asked for an additional coffee sachet for the room and were told we would have to pay for it and were told we could only have one cup of coffee with breakfast and would have to pay extra for a second one. Couldn't understand this as the cost must be minimal and we came away with a bad feeling about the hotel.

Review 69:The view was very good. The evening meal was good. The hotel was warm (we visited in the snow in March)

Review 70:waitress in dinning room must have fallen out with partner, that is NOT my problem, so just walked out, without breakfast.much better to be served by a civil waitress in a cafe, and just pay for it

Review 71:dinning room wonderful veiw

Review 72:It would be difficult for visitors with a car to park it in the area. Although the bathroom was clean, it had a unpleasant smell of dampness. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were a bit too big. You could hear other people shower and steps from the room above, but it's a small hotel so it stopped early at night. It's not a luxury hotel but much better quality then you could excpect for the price.

Review 73:A nice, small hotel. Easily accessible on foot or by public transport. Very easy to find. Charming area with small cobbled streets. Breathtaking views from the room and the restaurant - you can watch the "Light Show" from the room. It was very spacious with a balcony, a dining corner, a sofa bed with a coffee table corner and a small desk. Plenty of chairs and stools. Very nice breakfast. Nice staff. Great price. Wi-fi available - I haven't used it so I don't know the quality.

Review 74:In our bathroom one of the doors of the shower cabin was missing. Can not be so difficult to repair. Beds are uncomfortable and only single, there is no real double bed. Only cash payment. It is ok for short stays.

Review 75:Great location near the castle and the historical centre. Nice staff. Room is quite big and comfortable. There is an electric kettle and cups for tea or coffee, very nice welcome touch. There is a hairdryer in the bath. Great view from the restaurant, no problem with vegetarian menu requests. We even got pancakes for the national holiday like compliment. In summer there should be a small sauna and jacuzzi too. We reccommend not to use a car if you are planning to book this hotel, there are only 4 or 5 parking lots. Anyway, there is no problem without a car, centre and Tsarevets are at walking distance. Great position for watching the show.

Review 76:We was requested to pay in advance and to choose what type of breakfast do we want (continental, vegetables, omlette). There is not a Swedish buffet. The room (203) needs to be refurbished. The walls were dirty and the sheets from the bed were worn out. Also, the bathroom needs some refurbishment works, as the shower glass was broken. The TV is very small and it have only Bulgarian channels. The parking places are limited (only 6) and you have to park on a very busy street.

Review 77:The location of the hotel was very good, at 5 minutes walking distance from Tsarevets. The wi-fi worked very well. A very good ration between price and quality.

Review 78:You cannot pay via credit card, only cash...even though on the confirmation it was written that you can.... Bathroom was smelly in apartment A on 2nd floor and wi-fi didn't work..... The sofa wasn't comfortable to sleep on it at all and it was smelly too.....

Review 79:Very good location with a nice Castle view, staff is friendly, food is decent, easy to find location.....they've changed towels and sheets everyday.....overall a good value for money....

Review 80:- Was asked to pay in advance - Staff not welcoming and helpful - Minotel Rashev accepts only cash - The WiFi on my floor didn't work and the staff, albeit requested, didn't care to fix the problem - very poor bathroom facilities

Review 81:The price. 25 BGN per night is cheap.

Review 82:It was hilarious being given a double room and told to use only one bed :D (The beds were two singles adjoined). There were two cups and two sachets of coffee in the room, so I was then scared to drink both sachets :D Such quirks are what make VT fun sometimes though, so it's all good. Overall no complaints.

Review 83:The low price, all I needed was a room for the night to do stuff early next morning in VT.

Review 84:Breakfast was lousy, was asked to chose breakfast when we checked in, but was provided with very little and not what we asked for, the staff were very miserable and non accommodating at first but did bring toast eventually, enough for two, there were four of us, also didn't have a wide range of beverages, not even English tea!

Review 85:Reception man was lovely Bedrooms are comfy

Review 86:It overlooks a fairly busy road Not so well sound insulated so can hear people talking in corridor, walking around room upstairs

Review 87:Daily cleaning of room and fresh towels Friendly reception staff who ask everyday what I want for breakfast the following day A fair sized room for single use Kettle and tea/coffee in room Lovely view from my window Near centre, only a short walk Next to Tsaravets, a key tourist site here Good value indeed with a bit of breakfast thrown in! Has a lift so easier to get luggage up stairs

Review 88:Rooms are a little weared need some refurbish and clean especially near the convector, bad smell in bathroom, bed linen and towels are overused need to be replaced. (they were clean but you can see the wear of time).

Review 89:Good location near the fortress and close to old town area, nice food, nice staff, very nice restaurant with view.

Review 90:On road with some noise.

Review 91:clean spacious room with sitting area. Excellent price with half board. Close to citadel with a fantastic view from our room with balcony.

Review 92:The smell in the bathroom, which seems to be general in the entire hotel( or at least at the 2nd floor, suite and rooms), problem not solved by the staff although it was signalised to them frequently.

Review 93:It is a good hotel for the price paid, meal was excellent, staff extraordinary

Review 94:Two out of four rooms had different kind of problems, like the shower was broken, a smell of humidity, the heating was not ok during the night. One of the room was changed and with the other the staff tried to repair what was broken. The breakfast was terrible.

Review 95:We booked 4 rooms out of which 2 of them were amazing, very comfortable and with a great view (apartment A and B). The staff was ok and helped us when we asked for help.

Review 96:we were half board, first night we were served pork with blood in, which we didnt notice untill half eaten as covered in a sauce, we were ill all day the next day and confined to bed, 2 days later we were served pork again with blood, we pointed it out and it was ignored and just said do you want another one! continental breakfast, 2 pieces of spam and a craft cheese slice, The waitress at Breakfast is surly and unhelpful. the food really is not so good, if it was better, i would have rated this 100%

Review 97:The room was excellent, large, and warm, bedding was nice, the owners were very nice, this is a great hotel for location of Tsaravets Castle & Church, One member of staff spoke very good English. we had a very good stay, except for one thing.

Review 98:TV screen in room was small.

Review 99:Close to Tsarevets Hill with a fantastic view of the ancient fortress from the restaurant. Choice of delicious breakfasts included with the room. Wood plank flooring in the room is nice under foot in chilly months. Heating worked very well in the room. Staff was cheerful helpful with directions and kind to our dog. Easy parking.

Review 100:The smell in the bathroom, coming from the drain, but if you close the door do not bothering anyone.

Review 101:The room "A" was big and the view from the balcony makes all the difference. In a word was worth it

Review 102:The room fittings were tired. The bathroom needs renovation. The breakfast was basic.

Review 103:The view from the balcony impressive. The room was spacious and clean. The low cost made it excellent value.

Review 104:-They didn't serve me the breakfast. I was waiting for 30 minutes and nobody told me why. -there wasn't water in the bathroom in the morning -I was trying to ask about all these problems but nobody spoke in English. -after all these problems they didn't even say sorry and they asked me to pay a Coca-Cola (drinks were not included for dinner not even water).

Review 105:Good location

Review 106:Like previously, we booked accommodation with breakfast and dinner for super price. We were planning to stay 2 nights only on our way to Varna, but decided to stay 1 night longer. During first dinner we were witnessing from hotel restaurant located on 3rd floor light and sound show on Tsarevets. Amazing.

Review 107:We had two rooms... if one the bathroom was smelly, the other one was ok (so maybe it was just bad luck)

Review 108:Excellent location, nice staff, good meals (especially dinner)

Review 109:Breakfast was just OK but the room it was served in was bright and sunny with a good view of the old fortresses. Not as much English speaking as was advertised, but we were able to get by without any problem.

Review 110:Location - a minute's walk to Tsarevets, on a charming street not far from the shopping district and a slew of great restaurants. We were on our feet quite a bit in Veliko Tarnovo and thought our hotel was very centrally located within the historic district. Price was great - we missed the light show, but if it had gone on, we would have been able to watch from the balcony. Go for the upgrade if you can - room was clean and enormous. I would stay again for sure!

Review 111:We went half-board and the evening meal was good. Our room had a fine view over the fortress and the staff were helpful and friendly. All in all, excellent value for money.

Review 112:Nothing, it was perfect.

Review 113:Having stayed at this Hotel previously i knew what to expect, and i wasn't disappointed, for the price, location and half board included it's the perfect Hotel in Veliko Tarnovo.

Review 114:* Worn off bathroom * Pillows were just awful. High, stiff, extremely uncomfortable * Hotel stuff needs to be much more friendly and polite. You'd expect respectful service, not treatment like you're in a village pub.

Review 115:* The location is nice * It's one of the not so many places, which strictly keep the non-smoking rules * Fair price

Review 116:Nothing to dislike at all.

Review 117:The hotel was clean, comfortable and superb value for money. The rooms were spacious and had the most fabulous view of the castle and we were able to see the fantastic light show from the comfort of our balcony. The evening meal was excellent and included in the price. Would certainly return to the hotel and recommend to friends.

Review 118:The food was mediocre and as is the case with all hotels in the region, you have to park on the street.

Review 119:Location, location, location - the place of the hotel is great for a trip to the Tsarevets fortress.

Review 120:Because it's next to a busy road it's very noisy also at night. The rooms downstairs are very damp and don't have any view so take care that they don't give you one of these. The woman who is serving the breakfast is very grumpy and not friendly at all.

Review 121:The location is great with beautiful views of the Fortress. The rooms are spacious. The women working at the reception are very friendly.

Review 122:So noisy - road is right under the windows. There are some bad rooms, it's about 301, 201 and maybe some other corner rooms. They are cheaper than other but think clearly if you need it, you will not anything behind air conditions outside. No balcony. And outside air conditioners - they are so noisy, i was so irritated by them first night. WiFi - was not stable, there are a few routers in hotel, router on 3rd floor where i was staying didn't work, signal from 2nd floor was poor.

Review 123:Location - really close to Tsarevets Castle

Review 124:One way street front of the hotel is narrow and often busy, look out when crossing it. WiFi: difficult to connect and to stay connected.

Review 125:Good location between city centre and Tsaravets castle. Great value for the money, dinner included. Nice view from the restaurant and also from some rooms.

Review 127:The salty food, and noisy room being located facing the street. The broken toilet, bathroom mirror lamp.Small TV and lack of English programms.

Review 128:The location of the restaurant, and hotel in general. Wifi was free.

Review 129:Impolite staff throughout. All rooms are next to a noisy road. Meals are a joke - your inclusive main course includes meat only. Potatoes, veg, etc are extra. It's unbelievable. Do not stay here!

Review 130:it was clean and is well located close to the ancient fortress. The restaurant provides a great view of the area too. There is a small uneven car park.

Review 131:The only minor was the very busy road in front of the hotel, where the cars are really speeding. But the kindness and service of the hotel are gonna make you forget this very quickly

Review 132:Very Friendly and kind personnel. Very good price/quality!! The view out the window of our hotel and balcony was magnificent. I really liked this hotel and will be coming back in the future.

Review 133:nothinggg

Review 134:Very nice place, close to the Fort...good size room...really good pricing with half board...excellent food..even kids had almost full meal....be in the top floor restaurant in the evening to have a good view of the light and sound show

Review 135:It was a minor leak in the shower tray that the owners sent immediately a plumber to repair

Review 136:The location is fabulous. The people are very helpfull. The rooms are generous and cozy. The food was very tasty.

Review 137:Fabulous hotel, large clean family room with balcony and view of the fortress. Lovely restaurant on top floor with stunning views. We chose half board, food was amazing and plenty of it. Staff speak English so easy communication, would certainly book to stay again if visiting Veliko Turnovo.

Review 138:For a small, fabulously located hotel with friendly staff, such a shame that rooms so tired and food so poor. Some paint, a good spring clean and a rethink in the restaurant would make this the 'must stay' hotel in VT.

Review 139:Fantastic location! Wonderful views and 5 mins walk from everything! Views from top floor restaurant just superb. Easy to park; friendly staff!!
