Reviews for Hotel Elegant

Review 1:The only compliant is that the walls are a little thin, you can technically hear your neighbors conversations.

Review 2:beds were very comfortable, bathroom was large.

Review 3:The room I stayed in was very hot the first night. I also got a noise complaint at 7pm which I know wasn't the hotels fault but still hindered my stay.

Review 4:I liked the location!

Review 5:none

Review 6:Price- very reasonable location- 4 min walk Bus #747 to airport, walking distance to Chinatown and old Montreal Room-huge with very clean washroom Staff-very friendly and helpful. Prepared breakfast after knowing our earlier check out

Review 7:Room was a little dirty and so hot the first night. Last time we stayed it was too cold. Overall, you get what you pay for...

Review 8:I've stayed here before and found the value excellent. This time was a little lack lustre, but still inexpensive - definitely not 'high end' but rather 'just right'.

Review 9:None.

Review 10:This hotel is just 5 mins or less walk from the main station and a few mins from an underground shopping plaza. Its front presentation stands out among all the other hotels in the street. Hard to miss it coming back late at night. Friendly morning reception allowed us to check in early. Room is clean, quiet and made daily.

Review 11:The walls are thin. The guests in the room next door, who I am sure were under the influence of drugs based on their outrageous behaviour, did not stop laughing and talking really load until 3AM. On top of that, I could not get over this very strong smell in my room.

Review 12:Location was good. Friendly staff.

Review 13:but the lady at the break-first she was rude and never smile and fitting with other travel not take food to the room Place for break-first suppose to be friendly atmosphere and clean it i was not happy at all

Review 14:the staff at the reception was nice

Review 15:- Bed Sheets Were not CLEAN/Super Dirty/Bodily Fluids on comforter - Wanted us to watch the maids change it A.K.a waste my time watching maids clean sheets that should have been already clean?!?!- Manager's excuse for uncleanliness - it's $48; you get what you paid for and I showed him pictures of the stains and he refused to see them. - Wanted us to find another hotel for that price - we're only there for a day so we would have to waste our time to find a new hotel -Very poor customer service - WORST Hotel experience ever and I've been to alot of Hotels in my lifetime.

Review 16:...Nothing!! - It's obvious they don't care about their businessor customers so why should anyone stay there!

Review 17:Breakfast was the same every day, only a croissant and coffee

Review 18:The location is great! Only a block away from metro station and 2 blocks from bus station

Review 19:Clumps of dirt, rubber-like blanket, extremely warm room, hotel is completely neglected by mgmt broken light fixtures, dirty/marked walls, cigarette burns in bed spreads, tattered towels.

Review 20:Shabby, not clean. Tub did not drain when having shower. Entrance not clean, does not give good impression.

Review 21:Location is very convenient, near metro station.

Review 22:The evening staff was courteous and extremely helpful going out of his way to help us with parking and sightseeing advice. He also helped us to print our flight boarding passes. Good value

Review 23:The name is wrong. It is anything but elegant. Breakfast was poor. It was difficult to open the window plus the screen was ripped.

Review 24:If you want to save money and just want a bed to sleep, this is alright. Parking was good. Location was close enough to walk downtown.

Review 25:Mysterious stains on box spring cover.

Review 26:Conveniently located near metro stations and points of interest. Inexpensive. Staff speaks multiple languages, including English.

Review 27:although advertised, no air-conditioning (a fan is not air-conditioning) booked 3 months early so as to reserve a balcony room but request not filled...

Review 28:location is good....pretty clean

Review 29:police at the place as there had been a serious incident the night before. Filthy. I complained about specific dirt but nothing was done (a piece of ladies' bra behind the bedside table - check if it's still there - it probably will be! No bath plug - hotel policy is not to provide them because of "what people do in the bath..."

Review 30:only the location

Review 31:You need to put wake up alarm in the room

Review 32:The staff are very nice people, welcoming you at the door, they respond immediately, I was having nurse examen and asked the staff to wake me up at 5am ,they are helpfully, 5am and 00 second a call comes through and woke me up it is amazing yo have your services. Emile

Review 33:States check in time is 1:00pm didn't get 2 of our rooms till 2:15 and the other 2 till after 4:00pm. Daytime service is horrible no compassion. There was not enough continental breakfast went down at 9 and was nothing left. Says there is A/C but there was none.

Review 34:Night time staff was nice

Review 35:2 of 3 rooms not made up when we arrived, and the one that was had very tired sheets. Staff disinterested. As they didn't want to change them we stripped the bed ourselves. Also lot of hair in bathroom.

Review 36:Near metro station

Review 37:Staff uncooperative, air-con operated from reception and they wouldn't turn it down despite multiple requests. Hotel commercial laundry was operated continuously through the night and water rushed through the pipes all night long. Didn't get any sleep, when we complained they said pipes aren't near our room, I said you try and sleep in that room! It is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Review 38:Not much good to say about the place. The name Hotel Elegant is as false as you could get.

Review 39:no hotel parking but reasonable parking across the street, wi fi a little slow

Review 40:Surprised at cleanliness of hotel, croissants and muffins were good for breakfast, easy check in and out. Very easy access to metro and bus as hotel across the street and a little walk to metro hub...could go anywhere from there. For place where bed and shower only are required, good place.

Review 41:There were tiny dead bugs all over one of our beds, the sheets & pillows. Then the other bed didn't have any bugs but we took the sheets off that one too, just to be safe, then as we thought it was all clean and good enough to work with, a GIANT creepy spider goes running from one side of the bed to the other. One of the staff men had to kill it for us. Can't make this up people, it wasn't very inviting being that it was our first night out of 4 nights there.

Review 42:The place did its job. The location was great I couldn't ask for one better because it was so close, walking distance, to sainte-Catherine which is such a nice street. I would not stay here with my family & I probably won't stay here again, but for me and my girl friend who were looking to go clubbing and seeing the town, it did its job.

Review 43:Couldnt control air-con, almost froze. Would've liked a yoghurt or something with breakfast. Very thin towels with hair on them. Room service didn't vacuum

Review 44:Location. Massive room size, comfortable enough. High ceilings. Mini fridge. Table and chairs. Lift was great. Serve yourself breakfast. Much better than an almost identical hotel I stayed in nearby. Great value.

Review 45:The location of the hotel is really good and very close to the city center and very convenient for tourists. My stay was good and the staff was polite and helpful. Overall it was a good hotel to stay in and rooms and all the facilities was good for the price we paid for this hotel.

Review 46:Booked on phone for 2 nites while the receptionist confirmed the price on booking.com for 2 nites and when we reached there he said they have only charged for 1 nite and the price quoted was only for 1 nite :(

Review 47:Managed to grap parking spot for free

Review 48:The breakfast, ( Croissant was old, dry and served cold ) .. There was a lineup to warm the croissants in the microwave !! Small portions of butter and cheese are not included with the breakfast (only Jam). i wonder why ? The carpet in my room had several black spots and burns.. The ceiling ventelation fan in the washroom was noisy.. The bed mattress was not comfortable..

Review 49:The location was perfect, reception desk and staff were excellent.. Clean Hotel and bathroom. Breakfast is 3 from 10 points..

Review 50:Every time I'm there there is one problem with the Wi-Fi

Review 51:Location - has the essentials - used by many people, thus well rated - staff friendly and will help upon need

Review 52:The internet did not work at all. I contacted the reception staff many times and all he said: "I am not a technician. There's nothing I can do". This was disappointing. I asked him to leave a note for the morning staff the next day to take care of the matter, but no one did anything. It was very upsetting because the problem was from their end and when I booked the hotel I ensured it's a hotel with wifi. They said there is complimentary continental breakfast. I rarely care about a breakfast at a hotel because I like to go out and try local coffeeshops and restaurant. However, if you want to have the breakfast at the hotel then you need to know it's coffee and very weird looking muffins.

Review 53:Very centrally located. In the heart of downtown, close to three subway lines, and the gay village.

Review 54:Walls are too thin, therefore it was noisy. Could easily hear the tv from next room and also conversations. Wifi didn't work well.

Review 55:Location, price and friendly staff.

Review 56:Bathroom very dirty. Towels with bloodstains! In bedroom disturbingly noicy centralised airconditioning, very cold air blowing straight at you. Dirty sheets.

Review 57:It was really dirty, there was hair all over the pillows and there were holes in the sheets, the mirrors were dusty and the stuff wasn't really friendly, the wifi was extremely slow and the lobby smelled bad

Review 58:The breakfast was ok,muffins and croissants with juice and the location was good

Review 59:Not so much of a big deal but when we first entered the hotel lobby, thesmell of the incense was very strong but the next morning we didn'tsee/smell the incense so thanks to the considerate staffs. As much as people are complaining about the FREE food and wifi, I have no complains about the "complimentary" breakfast. Bring your own food since there's a microwave anyway or buy in the near IGA/grocery. Wifi is strong on the few minutes you're on but it keeps getting disconnected-reconnected after 5-10minutes or maybe after reaching the bandwidth? but not so much of a big deal because that's not the purpose of our stay there. I got the room for $94/night so all I can say is you get what you paid for but it's still very decent.

Review 60:The location is very convenient indeed. The fact that it is close toeverything is the best. Less than 5-minute walk to the Metro for acheaper transportation or call for taxi which takes less than 5 minuteseveryday! Also there's a lot of convenient stores for grocery andfood court near the metro. Staffs are very helpful, accommodating, friendly and informative. The rooms are fine. It's my first timestaying in this kind of motel/hotel and compared to other 4star or5star hotels, this isn't really bad since we only needed the roomat the end of the day where we can rest and Hotel Elegant did the jobjust well.

Review 61:The man who helped us for checking in on the first day was kind of unfriendly. He never smiled when we talk to him and his quite impatient when we had questions.

Review 62:The lady serving breakfast was very nice.

Review 63:Breakfast doesn't have much options, not fresh, very cheap. the lady who services there looked unhappy all the time. We didn't feel comfortable there. the bedding is very old, the sheet is not clean and torn.

Review 64:location is good.

Review 65:uncomfortable bed, they changed our key cards one night without even telling us and could not get into our room. the whole place smelt bad. the towels and bed sheets were stained

Review 66:location

Review 67:Sometimes the key card wouldn't unlock the door with a first swipe.

Review 68:Convenient location - right behind the coach terminal; very friendly staff; a/c worked properly; the room was quite spacious and clean.

Review 69:Extremely expensive for a hotel that was showing $69 - $89 both beforeand after our booking for 2 nights --- which cost over $400.This was simply taking advantage of supposed lack of rooms which we discovered after the 1st night, was completely untrue. Very annoyed about that. Also the room was no smoking yet there were cigarette burns on the bedclothes, bed cover and carpet. It was absolutely badic and so should the price have been. Very unhappy.

Review 70:The front desk people. The cleaner. The staff. All nice and helpful butat front desk on 1st night, I got little satisfaction re the pricequestion..... 3 times normal.

Review 71:The location of the hotel is perfect for those who are driving or flying from their point of origin. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The neighborhood is safe to be in at all times and is conveniently close to Montreal's major and minor attractions.

Review 72:Not really a bad experience, breakfast was too basic. Only muffins, croissants, coffee and orange juice.

Review 73:It was a short taxi ride to the train station and close to Old Montreal which is why I chose this hotel. It is like camping.

Review 74:The hotel needs to have air conditioning. The room we stayed in was very hot.I also didn't like that we could not have guests in past 10.

Review 75:If your just going to have fun and party.this is the perfect hotel the price is very reasonable and you close to so much.

Review 76:Too noisy! Noise from cars outside ,people talking in the hallway and water from shower can be heard very loud in the hotel room. Did not sleep well as a result.

Review 77:Location from downtown.

Review 78:we really liked the staff and especially cj! he was very helpful! every question that we asked him he knew the answer! we loved our stay and will for sure come back to this hotel!

Review 79:When I first arrived at the hotel, it took me 10 minutes of waiting andtelephoning to get someone to appear at the front desk. Also, thebreakfast was awful. A dry croissant and/or muffin served on a traycovered with kitchen towel, with a styrofoam cup of coffee, and anotherof orange juice that had clearly been prepared the night before as ithad settled at the bottom of the cup. Also, despite the simplicity, youcould not serve yourself, it was all handed to you by a lady who Isuspect was there to make sure that each guest only had one portioneach, but just made the atmosphere very tense.

Review 80:Very conveniently located next to the Gare d'Autocars, and closeto plenty of bars and restaurants. The room itself was fine, but inneed of refurbishment, although its quiet location at the back of thehotel was good.

Review 81:1st room had dirty & broken windows. Man on reception said he was not aware of this. Hard to believe. He then changed our room to a better one. Breakfast poor. For the sake of a toaster and a loaf of bread this could so easily be improved. View across the street is of ongoing improvements to the area and some Graffiti on walls. Obviously not the hotel's fault.

Review 82:Location was acceptable for the price. Local square/park/food/shopping area close by. Not too far from the river & town centre.

Review 83:the front desk was rude except for the young guy. we had a first floor room and i could hear the front desk conversing loudly for all nights. it also gets dangerous outside at night.

Review 84:the location was ok.

Review 85:There were some steps in the corridor to our room. WiFi spots have weird names therefore they are hard to find. The breakfast has a lot of room for improvement.

Review 86:Close to downtown. Affordable price.

Review 87:Colour scheme of bedding and carpet rather old fashion.

Review 88:Available last minute. Staff helpful. Good value and no credit card payment on booking. Excellent location at Berri UMAQ which is a transport hub and easy access to supermarket, drug store, restaurants and food court.

Review 89:This hotel works hard to save money and it shows in the small things- like no tissues in the room.

Review 90:Great location, helpful front desk staff, reasonably quiet.

Review 91:Central air conditioning was too cold. The food served for breakfast was very minimal. No microwave or coffee maker in room.

Review 92:The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Location is good also.

Review 93:Air conditioner is central and a bit weird - jumped from freezing to very hot. Extra blankets were available, and we survived. Overall, it did not spoil our time.

Review 94:Friendly staff, clean room and bathroom, towels changed daily, quiet, walking distance to the old city, a park and many excellent restaurants. Parking across the street ($12 per 24h).

Review 95:The window in our room wasn't closing fully. Although it is ok inSummer, it will be a problem when it is cold

Review 96:Location is great and staff is sincere and helpful. We asked where wecan eat and receptionist said because it is Sunday, "3 Amigos"-200 meters away -have Tacos for $0.69. That was the best dinner we hadin Montreal. Plus, they suggested what to see in 2 days stay, and thisinfo was useful for planning activities. We were not impressed that allstores and malls are closed at 18.00 (6 P.M.) in Montreal, so there isnot much to do in the evening with kids if it rains

Review 97:Stuffy and hot since there wasnt fan nor air conditioner but it was finewhen we opened the windows. (There's no netting though so just hopenothing flies in!) Some people smoke in the premises although theyaren't supposed to; must be uncivilized human beings whocouldn't care less!

Review 98:Huge room (at least room 207 is!) mainly the bathroom was 1/3 of theroom's size. We wonder why the bathroom is so big ! plenty of spaceis always good though so no complaints there! Free breakfast was decentfor a place like this. Super huge muffins (moist and taste great -definitely high in calories!), basic butter croissants, strawberry jam, teabags and instant coffee as well as orange juice with pulp. Definitelygood enough to start your day!

Review 99:The rod they advertise are different than they actually have. If you want to spent your nights by awakening whole nights with Mosquitos. I will recommend this hotel booking. Very uncomfortable poor service. No parking. Staff is not cooperative.

Review 100:There is nothing to like

Review 101:Not as such, but they should include welcome drinks, a small restaurant & a good breakfast for which they can charge extra, rather than a muffin or a croissant. They must include some cereals bread butter eggs muffins, fresh fruits, omelettes, sausages etc, which can be chargeable or included as a complementary.

Review 102:The staff is courteous & friendly, & speaks my native language

Review 103:Hotel offers all the contemporary facility which generally a value hotel provide, the only difference is it provide the same at half rate then branded hotel chain.

Review 104:I did not like the Wi-Fi keep cutting all time very poor connection. There is no restaurant close buy you have to walk about 10-15 minutes to be there.

Review 105:I like it because it's quiet and no one both you.

Review 106:The wifi connection wavered. We were on the 4th floor, however, we could not hold a connection for longer than 3 seconds.

Review 107:The facilities were clean, the staff was very kind and accommodating, the washroom was very large in comparison to the room and the ambience was com and quiet for rest. No issues!

Review 108:Freezing in the hotel room at night. We asked for extra blankets - they turned up the heat. Issue resolved

Review 109:We had a late check in and they called to confirm we were in our way. Water pressure and heat in the shower; value for money

Review 110:Given the low price, the facilities were surprisingly clean and decent. It was quiet at night and the private bathroom was much better than I expected. The WiFi worked well sometimes, but not always.

Review 111:Lovely staff. Basic but perfect croissant breakfast. Free wi fi. Location a bit far out (30 minute walk to centre of town) if you're not mobile. I enjoyed the walk though. Safe area if you're solo.

Review 112:No warning there was porn on the TV. I'm one of those strange people who thinks that pornography is not a good thing.

Review 113:Functional comfortable and convenient enough for person who doesn't want to blow a lot of money to have a good night's sleep.

Review 114:Everything..........................................................................................................................................................

Review 115:Nothing......................................................................................................................................................

Review 116:Dirty blankets and sheets, carpet was dirty, halls smelled of illegal substances, pillows were uncomfortable

Review 117:Cheap,somewhat clean, good location, it was really just a place to sleep

Review 118:While for the most part it was quiet, there were children running around in the stairwell and in the hallways and noise carried. The interior design could use a freshening up.

Review 119:I couldn't beat the price and location so I a bit trepidatious what I would find when I checked-in. I had a single queen bed room and the decor I'll describe as a 1970s boat house. The duvet in particular looked very sketchy and it came off pretty dang quick. However the bed itself was very comfy.

Review 120:Everything else. Bed was hard and uncomfortable and the elevator was filthy dirty had never been cleaned. Rest of building not much better. Only one tiny pillow for each of us. Breakfast was skimpy and poor.

Review 121:Location.

Review 122:the mattress wasn't great, but the room was clean.

Review 123:staff were super nice and helpful. parking was convenient -- just across the street. not a fancy place by any means, but good enough to crash in after exploring Montreal. wifi worked great.

Review 124:They could improve a little bit on the breakfast menu :-)

Review 125:The location was good, close to Metro station and bus terminal. Within walking distance to old DT and shopping. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 126:The general cleaniness of the hotel was not that great. While house keeping came in every day they only made the bed. There was no cleaning of the floors which was not great as it was winter and there was salt etc on the floor. We also found a cigarette butt on the floor next to the night stand which was there for our entire stay which again proves no cleaning of the room. There were 2 of us staying in the room and we werw only left 2 towels. I would suggest people bring their own towels as the ones at the hotels are so old and thin. It is incredibly loud in the hotel. The walls are very thin! During our stay we were woken most nights by people talking loudly either in their room or in the corridor and by people running up and down the stairs.

Review 127:The location of the hotel was great. The staff were really helpful. Free on street parking. The beds were nice and big and really comfortable. Breakfast was pastrys and juice

Review 128:No thermostat in the room so sometimes the room was really, really hot, even when we completely opened the window.

Review 129:Location was good, staff was helpful and kind, room was clean and comfortable

Review 130:Breakfast was a dry croissant and old coffee 9$ for a 5min walk parking

Review 131:Well located close to ste-catherine and ontario and close to the metro stations!

Review 132:The free breakfast was only crescent or muffin orange juice or coffee not a large range of options. The bed was uncomfortable. The smell of the place was not appealing to the nose.

Review 133:I liked how close the hotel was from the downtown of Montreal.

Review 134:Complimentary breakfast was just OK, (coffee/tea, muffin and croissant, jam). It would be nice if it also included a piece of fruit (apple/banana), yogurt, also butter. There was no heat/air con controls in the room. I was there in November and it was kind of chilly.

Review 135:Great location, approx 10 min walk to Old Downtown. Fridge in the room was nice. Staff were very friendly.

Review 136:It got quite warm at night. There was no AC or even a fan. I opened the window and it was not to bad.

Review 137:It was walking distance from the subway. The front desk was reasonable helpful.

Review 138:I would wake up in the morning with bug bites. They are mainly on my face and neck and some on my legs. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the other rooms. The place needs a good scrub and the beds are uncomfortable.

Review 139:The location, its by aain subway with three lines. There are several other hotels right there though.

Review 140:Slow elevator, that's it!

Review 141:Very simple but pleasant accommodation. Vending machine in the lobby, and wifi on each floor means a great signal (although it took a while for my MacBook to connect). Very close to Berri UQAM metro station and 2 minutes walk to St Denis street, great restaurants.
