Reviews for Club Raro Resort

Review 1:Lots of local kids play at the pool everyday which make it difficult to use it. The food is average.

Review 2:The room was very comfortable with beautiful Seaview, the place was tidy in general

Review 3:Young staff werent helpful or very friendly Pool too small We booked a lagoon view room but there was a wall of planted out vegetation blocking the view so we had to sit out on the deck Bed was broken Staff not willing to help with booking any activities Food at hotel expensive Wifi expensive No transfer to and from airport, had to get a taxi at $20 each Beach rocky

Review 4:Close to town Convenient Good value for money Beautiful view

Review 5:I think need 1 helping hand in the kitchen during breakfast n dinner.Took time to deliver.Asked for blanket few times but didn't get any till our stay.Luky the weather was good.Used a sheet at night.

Review 6:View Location

Review 7:The pool was really dirty and needed the Pool Doctor twice during our 9 day stay and it still didn't fix the problem.

Review 8:The ocean front rooms were lovely with comfortable beds

Review 9:Only 1 staff in front desk was not very helpful , Bkfst was boring need to change a little bit daily ,

Review 10:Friendly staff , location , privacy , ocean view

Review 11:Breakfast inc in room price; Not worth it!!! Just buy normal breakfast at location & this is 7/10 hash browns are amazing! Great accomodation for value factor & experience.

Review 12:The staff were useless, unhelpful, every bit of info they gave us was wrong.we missed a pick up for a tour because of them.ants in the room that they made me clean up,never changed our sheets(we were there awhile), pool was very very dirty, uncontactable by email, aircon was so noisey you couldnt sleep, dirty floor that made your feet black, avoid unless you are a backpacker this is not a resort.

Review 13:The view at the outdoor lounging area and breakfast

Review 14:Cleaning was awful. Our dishes sat outside on the table for the whole arvo & night till I asked them to clean it the next day. You will get a sore stomach. Trust me. They used the pool water to clean their buckets than threw the water back in the pool. The night shift receptionist(male) won't let u buy from the bar at night unless you bribe him with giving him free cigarettes & duty free alcohol. He tells you to keep quiet at night so he can do nothing but watch tv & sleep in the reception area.. Be careful of him.. There's a Fijian bartender(Male) he's the best of the best.. Served my family with a smile The rest omg...

Review 15:With a 1yr old it would've been nice to have a bath and kitchen facilities but that was most likely due to the room that I booked. Other than that it was a great stay! I would recommend this place to others & stay again in the future

Review 16:The staff were very friendly & helpful when asked questions

Review 17:Had a few cockroaches in our room when we arrived. Was probably just us getting used to Raro but we managed to keep them at bay most nights.

Review 18:Great location. Love the pool bar. Food was great. Friendly staff.

Review 19:False promises, Showers are very very small, ladies at reception tell you one thing & the next day it's different. Breakfast isn't worth it, The milk is from a box, Juice is from a bottle, nothing is fresh. Dont have breakfast there. When you be friendly & the receptionist says "whatever" that will some up your stay..

Review 20:Maybe we were unlucky, but during our stay there were many kids in the swimming pool who didn't follow the rules for the use of the pool.

Review 21:Friendly staff and room was really nice.

Review 22:Housekeeping has missed the fact that the mink blanket stored in the wardrobe had "vomit" on it (I seemed to think it was from a baby.. Perhaps blanket was used as a mat and child brought up a wee bit of dinner) Wasn't a lot but still unpleasant to find

Review 23:Staff were friendly and attentive. Adored the "resort cats" that are allowed to live there.

Review 24:VERY Dirty and i would never stay here again, to be honest the images on Booking look 100 times better than reality however when you get there you fell this place is a dump and not as shown on the images

Review 25:Location was good and close to Down town so was perfect for my business

Review 26:Pool needs better filter system, water was sometimes murky, possible sun block coming off the people swimming.

Review 27:Rooms were lovely, fantastic views, staff very helpful, easy access to other beaches and town. Lovely setting for the pool and great to be able to swim in the sea at the resort.

Review 28:The wifi was expensive and dropped out all the time, the telephone charges were expensive.

Review 29:It was good overall though and the staff very helpful and friendly, nice garden and the unit and everything was clean,it was good value for money with a nice view of the sea.

Review 30:There should be some sort of location to clean up (take a shower) for those that had a late flight. Most flights out of the island were late and the hotel should have facilities available for those that need it, after they have checked out. Additionally, we received conflicting information about transport to the airport. There was only 1 person on staff who could make a reservation for airport transport and once she went home, we were not able to make reservations. One person!

Review 31:The view from the pool area was beautiful.

Review 32:There is no beach at this resort and the swimming pool looked murky. Although the room was spacious, there were no windows or ranchsliders and there was only a skylight which gave an airy feel.

Review 33:Handy for the airport and town, although shops were closed as we arrived on the Sunday with Gospel Day the following day. Had a lovely lunch at the pool bar and plenty of table and chairs and sun loungers available overlooking the ocean.

Review 34:Room smelled of body odor after the cleaner had come. Also bathroom smelled of drains when it rained. Restaurant chairs and tables need upgrade

Review 35:Friendly staff, best food in raro, nice pool, lovely beach view.

Review 36:Arrived at check in. was told credit card was declined for booking. checked balance - plenty of money on card. they tried again and advised still declined so I had to pay cash. used same card for car rental next day - no issues. room was changed without notifying us. changed from 2 single beds for 2 singles to a room with queen bed. not ideal. although was rectified, wasn't the ideal start to the trip. internet not so great. the rooms we were upgraded too without knowledge were not in internet location so we had to walk to pool or reception to use internet

Review 37:Beautiful surroundings. central. loved the swim up pool bar. Staff were lovely

Review 38:I have snet 5 emails. No reply. I left my camera in my room and I amtrying to get it back. The eftpos closes at 9 pm or doesnot work, The first night they tried to have me leave even though I paid for an extra night. The last night they wanted me to settel my account before I left whcih was 11 pm but they had NO EFTPOS to pay and wanted me to pay cash. They wanted me to go to the Bank and woule there just to get cash, What? Room wasnt cleaned everyday. Toilet paper was only changed when u run out. I didnt get the room I Paid for. And they wont answer my emails. Appalling

Review 39:Pool

Review 40:1. No eftpos working at checkout. 2. Room I paid for ws not a Studio apartment. Apparently the Poolside is an upgrade. But I wanted and PAID for a Studio but got a pool location 3. Messages that were left for me I never received.

Review 41:1. Breakfast was very good. Excellent. 2. Poolbar Staff.

Review 42:Terrible value for money we paid $317 per night and the location was bad, un-swimmable beach . The housekeeping was shocking it was hard to get the room made up or a clean towel each day or coffee. They didn't remove dirty dishes or wipe up around the coffee making facilities and the pool was green one day. This was a budget hotel and not budget pricing.

Review 43:Staff were lovely and friendly

Review 44:Uncomfortable, and very disorganised at check in, after arriving at 11.30pm, you would think that they would be a little more assisting, knowing that there were going to be ten plus people checking in, there would have been more than one person on reception. Huge step into the bathroom, which was very dangerous, both myself and my daughter stubbed our toes on it !

Review 45:Not much to like, couldn't wait to check out.

Review 46:Room was clutted, no towels on 2nd day and would have like to have had netting curtains on door entry, had to close curtains all the time for privacy if there were netting on entrance we could have left curtains open. Shower was small, mirrors were'nt cleaned and heaps of black mould present in bathroom.

Review 47:room was close to everything within the Hotel

Review 48:room was fair and suited us nicely, everything that we required was available and ISLAND people are generally nice in nature which was reflected in the staffs attitude towards the guests

Review 49:Very impressed with the staff and how well they handled every thing.......very friendly which is what I would have expected from my tukana whanau......shall bring the rest of the whanau next time.

Review 50:excellent service Milli wade was the idea person for our trip catering to all our needs and going out of her wAy to make sure we were all happy ❤️❤️❤️

Review 51:The friendly service throughout resort especially the fijian guy at the bar service with a smile & morning crew at breakfast we'll be back next year

Review 52:The staff removed our leis from the room without asking. The second day, theybforthetvtonreplace our towels, bath mat etc, and when we got back late that evening, we had to go and ask for them to be brought.

Review 53:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The lagoon view was amazing and definitely worth paying a little more for.

Review 54:Meals could have been warmer Continental breakfast was boring. Service could be better .

Review 55:Had a beach front room, nice and quiet,no kids, whale watching in the afternoon. Sea food nice ans fresh.

Review 56:Had booked for late check out & agreed to pay cost of the day for the room. Rather rude staff member "accosted" us about not checking out at 11am. We had already organised to use the room for the day, as our flight was leaving 11.10pm. Told to be out 6pm promptly!! We were :)

Review 57:Liked the location - had fun on the scooter. Weather was wonderful & staff friendly.

Review 58:We loved our stay here. The staff were awesome very friendly and approachable. The place looked amazing, food and beverages were amazing! All the staff were lovely and so efficient! Can't wait to bring our family back!!!

Review 59:Upgraded from what was meant to be self-catering to a Beach Front with no facilities. Colder than normal weather and no blanket for 1st night.

Review 60:Lunch time Ika Mata VG and Burger not too bad. Would have preferred to sit in restaurant out of the strong cold on-shore breeze.

Review 61:no possibility to have dinner or something to eat after 9pm. Wifi to pay (as in many accomodations in cook is.)

Review 62:Good location not so far from the airport, useful for 1 night stay before a flight to the other islands. Rooms a little bit old.

Review 63:The hotel had not taken the payment before we arrived as they should have so this was inconveient. They also advised and booked a shuttle that would be taking us back to the airport from the hotel which didnt exist, when it didnt arrive the hotel staff didnt appear bothered and told us to wait until half an hour before our flight was due to leave and then come back to them?, in the end a passer by offered to take us to the airport otherwise we would have missed our flight!

Review 64:Nothing really.

Review 65:I found the place not as previous guests mentioned. I found it quite nice and welcoming. My ocean view room was adequate to my stay and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Club Raro Resort. A big plus to Matai the housekeeper.

Review 66:The staff were excellent and very accommodating, always helpful. Its close to town. Had snorkelling, scooters and bicycles available for hire all within the resort. Room was spacious and clean

Review 67:House keeping could be better, one day we didn't get new towels, other day we ran out of toilet paper, but we hadn't received new rolls after cleaning.

Review 68:Staff is friendly, the food in the restaurant is nice.

Review 69:I thought to receive a warm welcoming as we declared we were on honeymoon on our booking instead : standard routine. Staff was polite but not very keen on giving information or suggestions to guests. I think we could have enjoyed much more of the island with a little bit more detailed answers to our questions. They should work on their relationship skills. It s part of the offer. We didn t eat at the restaurant because it s quite small and not very attractive for the location and the furniture.

Review 70:First of all it s incredibly clean everywhere. The resort has many useful services(laundry, scooter rent, sun beds) and some forms of enterteinment (very appreciated when it rains). It s close to town which is important in sucha a small island..We appreciated a lot the kitchen we had in our apartmente completely equipped! The pool and the area around are very comfortable.

Review 71:I have sent an email regarding charges to a cancelation to a room booking and have not recieved response. It has 7 days now.

Review 72:I felt at home with all the staff. The staff look stunning in their uniforms.

Review 73:The room is not very clean, and it's small, the buffet breakfast only have few options but every expensive (19.9 p/p) laundry room was really dirty really bad machines

Review 74:The location was good, sea front views ate great

Review 75:The room was advertised as having a washing machine. This is not so although there is a paid shared laundry

Review 76:Our room was spacious. The location of the resort 20 mins walk from town was perfect for us

Review 77:The pool is a bit dirty, so didn't scream at you to jump in. The rooms are basic, and TV channels very limited. The internet is appalling, but this rule applies to the majority of the Cooks. The hotel should really provide drinking water - as most resorts in The Cooks do, buying bottled water gets expensive.

Review 78:The location is great - and has stunning views. The food is very good here, and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and will do what they can to help you. On check out, as we had a late flight, they were kind enough to let us shower as we had been in the sun all day.It isn't top end of the scale, but by no means a bad place to stay.

Review 79:My holiday came to an end ha!

Review 80:Love this place........ Nice small resort thats has everything you need! Awesome staff....great pool and the bedt cocktails ever hehe.....

Review 81:Kids went to order dessert at 8-30pm and was told restaurant closed even tho advertises 9pm not a major as they had eaten but a little disappointing. Also the tiles were very slippery and dangerous but there was signs everywhere warning about the slippery tiles.

Review 82:Loved the atmosphere of the resort and it was very clean, tidy and staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. I found what was advertised was what I got no surprises it probably exceeded my expectations actually. Grounds were immaculate couldn't fault it.

Review 83:Kitchen was advertised to close at 9pm however ue to no orders it closed early almost every night I was there...Inconvenience much.

Review 84:Location and the friendliness and helpfulness of staff

Review 85:Room was a bit noisy.

Review 86:The snorkelling right on the doorstep was fantastic, the area wasn't commercialised, loved the outlook from the decks, close to town.

Review 87:The beach at the resort is very stoney and it is several kilometres from good beaches.

Review 88:Reservations manager Mili Wade went way beyond the call of duty to help us deal with business back home. Her effort was outstanding and she is an asset to the resort. There are lovely gardens also.

Review 89:Late room house keeping, sometimes did not get done until late afternoon,as late as 4.30 pm one day. No Sunday evening meal was available.

Review 90:The staff are always helpful with any of your requests, even though they seem to be under staffed. I would like to give a special mention to Milli for her attention to detail with our booking, i would give her a gold star if she was working for me.

Review 91:it was hard to get extra things like wifi

Review 92:Cleaners were amazing, reception went to extra effort to ensure we were all sorted on our last day (after check out we could still hire snorkelling gear, and bike until our flight later that night)

Review 93:Our rooms had no view to the outside. Just little high up windows. They needed sliding doors or low windows.

Review 94:The staff are friendly...the beach is not for swimming but perfect for snorkeling. There is a huge sunbathing area and also around the pool with beautiful views and access to the water.

Review 95:The paper thin walls in my room Screaming naughty uncontrollable kids Rats in the ceiling nawing away at night The slippery outside surface when it rained

Review 96:The environment The food The pool The people and help

Review 97:Power and water was turned off when I arrived home after being out for the night. Resort was in total darkness, couldn't use any water at all,( shower basin etc). Was offered a bottle of water from reception which was added to my bill on checkout

Review 98:Convenient location to avarua

Review 99:Hotel was not really near anything, definitely need your own transport (don't rely on the bus). Walls in the self-catering rooms are quite thin. Sun loungers could also do with an upgrade.

Review 100:View from lagoon rooms are lovely and worth upgrading to, the inside also has a more luxurious feel which other rooms lack. Most of the staff are very friendly and happy to help. Overall atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed.

Review 101:Not many Kitchen facilities. No spatular - only 1 pot. Air con did not work and had to get maitenance in 1st day to fix bathroom light that was flickering. One of the dryers was on hot with not hot heat and advised Resort Administration, wasn't fixed after 7 days. Tiles bit slippery around pool , and was dangerous. Bigger lady - would have liked variaty of chairs so bottom could fit in them.

Review 102:Loved the hospitality staff - they were fabulous. Meals were great and pool excellent.

Review 103:The room smell moldy The sheets on the beds were stain

Review 104:Staff was friendly Nice and relaxing environment Good location walking distance to the shops only 30 minutes walk

Review 105:Late flight arrival meant no food options. Be gd if kitchen stayed open to accommodate late arrivals.

Review 106:Close to airport and walking distance to Avarau town (approx 20min walk). Beach front rooms superb very peaceful. Only stayed 1st night due to late flight arrival could easily have spent longer here. Very friendly helpful staff.

Review 107:We found everything very expensive and were disappointed with the menu for the restaurant.

Review 108:The staff were great, very helpful and friendly, with special mention of Jiuto (Pool Bar) and Martai (cleaning staff) who went out of there way to make sure our holiday was very enjoyable.

Review 109:I found the email communication to book in my accomodation frustrating, due to a few emails back & forward. I was told I would need to pay extra for additional nights outside the voucher, this ended up costing me more money. I found one of the Receptionist not too friendly or welcoming, this was also the case when my Sister & I were there at beginning of 2014. I also heard this from a first time guest that was on my flight home. There was a lovely lady on the desk on the Saturday I felt very valued as a Guest in my conversation with her. I would have liked to have the Chocolate Brownie that was on the menu, but wasn't available most of the nights I was there. Perhaps noting the unavailable items from the menu on a board to let guests know

Review 110:The guy that was on the pool bar most nights during my stay (23rd Feb-2 Mar) is very friendly. I found him very welcoming & nothing was ever too much to ask of him! The 2 men that took care of the grounds did a fantastic job & showed pride in their work.

Review 111:Room was small, and felt like a dungeon. Ants were everywhere. Cobwebs in the shower. Sheets were supposed to be white but were yellowed/grayish in color. Felt uncomfortable sleeping on the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable and felt unclean.

Review 112:Located on the water, nice views of the ocean. Food was good.

Review 113:Restaurant food was lovely but a little overpriced, as the rooms have no cooking facilitys so adds up when eating in every night. Maybe a cheaper menu should be available as well.

Review 114:The staff were lovely, resort had a beautiful comfortable feel to it. Very relaxing.

Review 115:Maybe could do with more parking here for cars, also club taro has things that they could utilise more like the rental table. Just a thought.

Review 116:Club taro is close to town an in a good spot, you have everything you need here other wise there is a shop about 50 up the road. The wifi is great here as well. Breakdest is ok not much to choose from but it will do. They also have free scuber diving lesions in the pool on certain days from the big fish dive centre, this was great coz we also booked a dive for the following sunday

Review 117:Need to have milk in the fridge. Just a small UHT would do. Powdered creamer is just not quite good enough.

Review 118:The location is close to town. Although its not on a swimmable beach they have made the best of the location with a good pool area and loungers overlooking the lagoon and reef.

Review 119:Resort was very tired, needs some money spent on it. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Can't really swim in the sea in front of resort as it's quite rocky. No events or entertainment at the resort.

Review 120:Good location, close to town and quick drive to Muri beach. Pool, outdoor area and pool bar was great, cocktails and daily happy hours.

Review 121:Internet / computer needed upgrading. Paid to usage but only used for a few minutes. Next time and subsequent times, connection problems so was unable to use and did not get a refund.

Review 122:breakfast / meals at restaurant room / bathroom nice and clean and roomy.

Review 123:We had only a few squirmishes at Club Raro that did impact our stay a little. The first being the payment method to pay for the accommodation which had to be paid prior to arrival. After I made the booking I never heard anything from Club Raro till I contacted them a few months later via email. The only method to pay them was to send an email with a form including your credit card details. BE CAREFUL! You should never ever email credit card details, emails are subject to phishing that causes fraud. I work in IT, I have seen it before. Also print off your booking. We chose one including breakfast. Originally when emailing them before we arrived they had no information of this, I sent them the booking and they confirmed our breakfast was included. At our first breakfast we were told we weren't on the list so we could essentially pay or go away. I explained the email, and after searching, they found it, confirmed again that breakfast was included and let us in.The next was that there were cockroaches in the room. After a few days of rain we came home to about 10 scampering through our room, luckily we brought bug spray. Also, one of the reception ladies was often a little bit rude and seemed extra annoyed when we asked her to book some tours for us.Water pressure in the showers was not really good. The water would go from hot and extreme to cold and dripping and back again every so often without touching the taps.Lastly, and probably had the biggest impact was the restaurant. The in room booklets say that they should be open till 9, I don't think we saw this once. Each day they closed at a different time between 7.30 and 9.00, which was really disappointing when we would go to get a late dinner and be turned away... this happened about 5 times. Also we arrived to breakfast at 9.50 one morning (Breakfast closes at 10.

Review 124:The location is great, not far from town and right on the beach. Most of the staff were lovely and allways willing to help, especially Danielle from reception and the cleaning lady (I don't know her name) who left us clean towels every day (we put the do not disturb sign up most days because we don't feel that we need clean towels and sheets every day), she even left us flowers which was nice. The breakfast that was included in our booking was fairly standard but easy and enjoyable - toast, cakes, cereal and fruit were the main items. The menu for the pool bar and restaurant was small, but the meals were large enough for us two girls to share the pizzas and burgers. (we don't eat sea food). The food was nice and we enjoyed sitting by the beach and watching the sunset. The prices were fair, similar to what we would pay in Australia. The hire service is handy, putting down a deposit is understandable. We only hired reef shoes but there seemed to be heaps of snorkel gear and towels ready to be hired. The room was nice and clean when we arrived, the bed was comfy and we had a fair size tv (Which we never turned on), good ac and a fridge. We never really swam in the pool - when the ocean was right there. The lagoon was lovely, if you see it nice and calm then make the most of it! most the time we were there it was too rough to swim in, but when it wasn't we had a blast snorkelling there. We weren't too worried about the water there not being great because it gave us reason to explore all the other beaches on the island.Hiring a car or scooter on Raro is kind of essential if you want to make the most of your holiday, It was so easy to hire a car from Polynesian rentals, which had a direct phone to contact them from club raro (and I believe scooters ready to go). Also parking was good in front of the hotel, just don't park under a coconut tree.We really did love our stay at Club Raro and would love to return in the future. It really was paradise.

Review 125:Nothing to.complain about or dislike but just to help resort eith improvements, the bathrooms.floors needed to.be mopped daily.

Review 126:Food was awesome and Juta the bartender was such a polite and friendly staff member :) Our bed was so comfy and we relaxed and had the most amazing rest during our wet weekend which suited us as we live such busy lives.

Review 127:Breakfast on the expensive side. Better places to eat evening meal elsewhere

Review 128:Location, just out of town suited us with bicycles. Pleasant, clean room Good elevated location for whale watching in migration season Reception staff helpful

Review 129:My room look different to the picture. It was plain no pictures on the wall as other rooms did, bed sheets all plain.. Walked past another 3 rooms with the works.. I was in room 223..

Review 130:Staff were helpful

Review 131:First room I was put in was old, dirty and dark. There were cockroaches and ants in the room. Spent two nights in it then asked to be changed, which they did very quickly. Couldn't get onto WiFi, which there was a charge for but was refunded.

Review 132:Swim up bar, views, location and the standard of the second room was very good, which was a poolside room and very quiet.

Review 133:Conveniently located this old style resort with very friendly and helpful staff has a prime location in that the site is elevated overlooking the lagoon from where we could see whales pass - not too far away. It was a wonderful event. Lagoon view rooms are a bit more 'select' and private while poolside you feel like part of the 'community'. Roll on Rarotonga. We loved our stay amongst these quiet and dignified people.

Review 134:Expensive for what was offered. Food choices at restaurant abysmal. Serviceability of room facilities poor. 'Laid-back' attitude of staff might be mistaken for an easy-going attitude to life. In fact this frequently was revealed as 'don't give a toss'.

Review 135:Pleasant interactions with some staff. Great location for whale watching. Comfortable bed.

Review 136:The bathroom especially the shower was not clean and daily room makeup appeared not to improve this. Fridge was very small although good enough.

Review 137:The super friendly staff wonderful views comfy bed and the dining was good. Every day someone was sweeping cleaning gardens and generally keeping the pool areas spot on.

Review 138:Our air conditioner leaked and left a pool of water in our room, but that was fixed straight away. There was a hole in the roof so when it rained we woke up to water dripping on our floor. Our room was not serviced one day. The ground around the pool was slippery even though they had a sign slippery when wet it didn't help because we had to walk that way to get to our lagoon front room. Tried to get snorkel gear but there was none available. One day we missed breakfast by 15 minutes but they were not able to serve us, even though there were patrons still eating breakfast. We had to wait an hour n a half to order from the lunch menu.

Review 139:Staff were helpful, always cleaning the grounds. Reception girl was friendly. The view from our room was good. Location was great being close to Avarua.
