Reviews for Hotel Sombra e Água Fresca
Review 1:Only down side is location, you can walk to Praia do Amor, which is cool, but we liked better Praia do Madeiro, then we had to take a taxi many times. Also to walk to the main street restaurants and bars it wasn't a very pleasant walk until you get to the nice area.
Review 2:The hotel is beautiful, nice swimming pools, nice staff, beautiful views, nice restaurant.
Review 3:Walk to the room was up a steep hill but the hotel did have a car to take you up.
Review 4:The facilities were fabulous, we had a sea view room which had a sauna/jacuzzi. Choice of 5 pools a gym. Great food and only a 10 minute stroll to the main street in Pipa.
Review 5:Restaurant menu could have a few more lighter and cheaper options for lunch
Review 6:Excellent accommodation and friendly staff, great facilities and amazing views. Breakfast spread excellent. Hotel had a lot of tour and activity options in the local area too.
Review 7:Beware. You may well not get a Room/Suite as shown in the photo on Booking.com against your Confirmation and we found this very disappointing. However, the Management worked hard to accommodate us and, although this meant moving three times during a fortnight, we did get to stay in superior rooms.
Review 8:The whole setting was very exotic in a tropical, Indonesian style. The Restaurant was beautifully situated with views of the beaches on either side and breakfast was very good. The swimming pools were quiet (apart from the music!) and the bar staff tried hard to understand us. Some of the Suites/Apartments are truly luxurious and we would happily return. The two Reception Staff who spoke English, Adriela and Luciana, were very kind and helpful, as were the car drivers who did the shuttle up to the rooms.
Review 9:The pictures and description do not do this stunning hotel justice. We were given a huge villa with a super king sized bed (not a double as described) and our room had a jacuzzi spa, private plung pool and a sauna. The breakfast and pools are high on the cliffs with stunning views out over the sea. the gardens were mature and gave a sense of privacy everywhere and at night the paths are lit with lanterns. We would never be able to afford something like this in Europe but in beautiful Pipa, we were like on a second honeymoon. Everything was perfect.
Review 10:We arrived here after a terrifying taxi journey on our last stages of our honeymoon. When we got there, there were no English speaking staff which turned out to be the case for the rest of our stay.Although it states that it is 5 star we felt that the attention to detail was missing. For example when we got there after our long journey, we were told our room wasn't ready and rather than being given a tour /told to enjoy the pool and have our bags brought to our room when it was ready, we were sat in the reception area to wait.We sat for 15 minutes which gave us the chance to notice that it wasn't very clean. Nearly every surface had ring marks from drinks and during our stay I didn't see a single pane of glass that didn't have grubby finger marks on it. And there is a lot of glass in this resort!Another thing is that I don't do wrist bands. The kind of thing you get in cheap Egyptian resorts or Magaluf. Apart from the fact that this one was way too tight and scratchy, it just doesn't make you feel special.Anyway we eventually got taken to our room. The online photos looked great and we initially were pleased to go to such an enormous room. The main problem here is that the room was very very tired. The steam room didn't work, the loo seat was falling off, the flush needed a proper shove to make work and then leaked water on your hands. The air conditioning was interesting. You had a choice. Either die of heat or get treated to asthmatic air conditioning that sounded like an Boeing 747 taking off.Because the bed looked out onto the sliding doors, the tired scratched floor was highlighted and generally the rest of the room was threadbare. The mattress has obviously been very well used! This resort seemed over large and worn out. It was also fearsomely expensive.
Review 11:Great sized room, hot tub on balcony, Steam room in bathroom (which didn't work) great view from bedroom
Review 12:Dinner in the restaurant was poor. We had a few problems communicating because no staff spoke English
Review 13:Apartment was excellent. Swimming pools where great. Lovely complex.
Review 14:The Sombra e Agua Fresca is amazing! The hotel is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the centre of Pipa but it is by no means isolated and it is near a lovely beach called Praia Amor, which is just 5 minutes away. The staff were great and all speak good English. The views from the pool and restaurant are awesome. Our room was huge with a very comfortable bed and we had a lovely stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. I would recommend exploring the grounds as we found an infinity hot tub overlookig Pipa on our last day which I'm sure we would have spent more time in had we known!
Review 15:The pictures on Booking.com do not respect the reality of the accomodation. There is no such room with idro and pool, very disappointing. Terrible front desk staff and management, really disappointing experience.
Review 16:The Pools
Review 17:It turned out that the description on Booking doesnt reflect the actual room availibility. We had the impression that we booked a much better room than we got: one with private pool AND jacuzzi. It turns out that its either/or, and they have only one room with both. Which we obviously didnt get. This made our start bad. On top of that quite some flies and mosquitos Laundry service is expensive
Review 18:In general the property is taken well care off, location is OK. Staff is friendly Good pools and food is tasty
Review 19:Our room had a bit of an ant problem. Given the greenery around the property, it must be difficult to manage, but we did have a problem. The other thing is that no one really spoke English. We got by but had expected for such a nice place, there would have been staff that spoke English.
Review 20:We had a fantastic time at Hotel Sombra e Agua Fresca. We spent a part of our honeymoon at the resort and had a relaxing yet elegant time. Our room was the nicest room I've ever stayed in, equipped with a jacuzzi, a private pool, a deck and a steam room. I kid you not. The room overlooked the ocean. Beyond magical. The pools and pool bar were beautiful and the staff very attentive. We really enjoyed our free breakfast buffet every morning (w/ champagne!). And the proximity to the beach is fantastic - just a short albeit steep walk to Pria Amor (Love Beach). I also got a standard massage that was very high quality at a very good price. Sure the hotel was pricey all together but worth every penny. Also worth mentioning that Pipa is a very nice little beach village. The hotel is super close to town so you can walk to plenty of restaurants and bars in town. However, note that Pipa is about 1.5-2 hours away from Natal. Easy enough to get to and from Natal via a taxi.
Review 21:too far from the airport, the lack of transportation (transfer)provided from the hotel. Poor wifi. noisy air conditioner.
Review 22:location restorant gym pools
Review 23:Everything there was amazing but pools and staff are the great highlights
Review 24:Staff was not very "proactive"
Review 25:Facilities, Area, Pipa
Review 26:to reach the room you need to be well fitted....
Review 27:Overall staff, rooms decoration, sea view
Review 28:Room tap was dripping. Bathroom was completely flooded one day.
Review 29:Amazing ocean view from swimming pools. Decoration. Staff. Free wifi.
Review 30:Great location, with close access to beach. Quiet, and relaxing atmosphere. Walking distance to Pipa's bar and restaurants center.
Review 31:Breakfast only at 8.00 a.m.
Review 32:Location
Review 33:prices, especially in the restaurant
Review 34:Facilities
Review 35:Great customer service and the best facilities I've seen in Brazil.
Review 36:The restaurant is overpriced
Review 37:The rooms are very luxurious and well furnished
Review 38:Much further from the international airport than advertised. Maintenance of rooms is substandard for rates charged. Am having a huge problem resolving billing discrepancies between booking.com and the hotel. Keep getting bounced back and both between the two.
Review 39:Excellent location, friendly staff.
Review 40:Like many hotels around the world, the food is expensive and not very good. But, with that said, the rooms have a mini fridge and you can easily buy water/snacks in town. Plus, Pipa has some great restaurants, so no need to eat (non-breakfast) meals at the hotel.
Review 41:Three friends traveling to the World Cup, we decided to base ourselves in Pipa (rather than Natal). This hotel was a fantastic choice. Great location, friendly and accommodating staff, comfortable beds, AWESOME showers (with strong water pressure).
Review 42:Refrigerator noise in the room. Roads to centre of village and to the SPA Forest could be improved.
Review 43:Wonderful decor, wet sauna and jacuzzi in the room, sea view, fantastic breakfast, outstanding friendly staff. Walking distance from Praia do Amor and the centre of the village. Great to be able to profit from the additional Resort and SPA Forest facilities.
Review 44:SPA was a little run-down, maybe under renovation. Could have more outlets in rooms for electronics.
Review 45:Good location. Excellent reception and restaurant with very friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Large rooms.
Review 46:The pool at the very top is not clean and seems dirty every day morning and afternoon. Noisy guests, like a whole family shouting as if they were the only ones at the hotel.
Review 47:The room was excellent with great services
Review 48:Wonderful staff and environment, everything about the hotel is just beautiful and breath-taking...up on the hill with the magnificent sea view and the overwelming nature around it, it's paradise on earth...
Review 49:Nothing!
Review 50:A wonderfull surprise! Everything were simply perfect! The location is on the top of the hill (dunas) with a wonderfull ocean view and the room was amazing.. with jacuzzi in the room and an excellent decoration.. The staff is always ready to attend our requests professionaly and with a big smile! The breakfast served in the restaurant in the top of the hill was 1st class with all kind of fresh fruits and an enormous variety of different choices.. The structure is carefully maintened and really accurate.. We had a great staying and we will return as soon as possible in this "7 estrelas" structure!!!
Review 51:The hotel requires proper general maintenance, in our room the vanity tap was loose, the WC flushing mechanism handle fell off various times, the hot water was erratic as sometimes it worked and other times it was cold, the rain poured into the room, (admittedly only when it rained) on the left hand side of the bed over the wooden beam and this only required the roof tiles to be relocated properly on the roof, the left hand sliding door to the patio was broken as the top sliding gear that held the door in position was broken and the door rattled all night with the wind due to this problem, the pool had no skimmer box so it always appeared unclean as many insects and leaves were floating on top and this was only cleaned twice during our stay. Based on the price we paid for the room we felt it was not value for money as the price charged are comparable to a very good quality hotel in Europe without these maintenance problems.
Review 52:The hotel location was very nice. The room size was very good, decoration of the room was OK and the view from the room amazing. The reception and restaurant staff were very friendly. The spa was very good and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location requires a lot of walking and steep hills which is good for ones health. The access to the Praia do Amor was a challenge but not that difficult. The gardens were very nice and special the spa pool area which created nice shaded and private areas to rest.
Review 53:Why nobody told me before that such a place exists :-)
Review 54:Everything !!! it s paradise on earth ! rooms are very beautiful and well decorated & comfortable. The view is fantastic because of his position and from the restaurant you have an icomprable view ! Staff is very pleasant and nice ! it s not far away from pipa center (just few minutes) it s very difficult to describe how beautiful it is ! a place to be !
Review 55:The rooms do not look like the pictures here on booking.com. We booked an executive suite with garden view and got a dark room in souterrain decorated with curtains, cushions and blanket made out of synthetic fiber. The hotel offered us to change the room, but the other room was even worse.Partly the hotel is untended, for example around the restaurant and pool many plants are dried out. Some parts of the hotel need a renovation. The aircondition is quite noisy.
Review 56:Nice place with great views close to Praia do Amor. Excellent moqueca in the restaurant of the hotel
Review 57:Half-pension menu at restaurant with var less variety than expected (but since it's optional, it's up to you :) )
Review 58:Everything
Review 59:Front desk staff were amazing and great recommendations. The room was superb too.
Review 60:Nice place, one of the best places to stay in Pipa
Review 61:the suite with sea view
Review 62:The best stay out of 10 stays in Pipa, my family loved this hotel. The staff couldn't be more friendly.
