Reviews for Hotel Chur

Review 1:Nothing horrible, but WIFI undependable, pillows hard. Very minimalist room, could use some drawers if one was staying more than a couple of nights.

Review 2:They accommodated our very late arrival; Good breakfast; large, clean room. Very convenient!

Review 3:Nothing bad to say. Oh, maybe one thing. The pillow was a bit too soft. There. I've said it. Now I will stop complaining.

Review 4:It was everything that they said it would be. Also convenient to the old sector with interesting streets an alley shops

Review 5:We had to get through renovators- in the lobby,in the lift, in the hall outside our life. Our room was one which had been recently finished - but not aired properly - had to have the windows open more than desirable for the time of year (November). The final 'laugh' (or cry?) was when the maid walked in on us - with no warning at all - not even a knock!

Review 6:It was near to the city.

Review 7:Didn't like the see through bathroom doors. They are frosted glass but nonethless when you are in the en-suite it doesn't feel very private.

Review 8:This hotel is in a good position about 15 minutes walk from Chur railway station for travelling to Zurich or picking up the Bernina Express. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but got a very nice meal at the Pizzeria opposite the hotel. However the breakfast at Hotel Chur was fairly good.

Review 9:Neat and clean and an excellent location. Staff were very helpful and an easy walk to the train station. Our rooms were upgraded which made the stay even better. Nice breakfast as well

Review 10:The location was beautiful. Our room was right on a rapid river which provided great sleeping conditions. Bathroom was large and easy to move around in.

Review 11:A night club on the same building ! Even though we didn't had any issues due to that I won't recommend it for family stay. We stayed during summer and the windows could not be opened in full. The air inside was hot and stuffy. The small/tiny table fan provided was not enough to fix the issue. no fresh air in room and can smell cigarette smoke from the people standing near the night club. Non air conditioner

Review 12:Although we were put in a quiet room we were still awoken during the night by loud voices in the street outside. A couple of nightclubs are near by.

Review 13:8 minutes from the station. In the very pretty and interesting old town. Good restaurant.

Review 14:Everything!

Review 15:The location is fantastic, just funf /five minutes from the train station. Excellent staff, very polite and helpful.perriera at the counter was really very diligent and resourceful. Very good breakfast.

Review 16:Limited and cold breakfast....should have more options like fried eggs omelet etc

Review 17:Needs air conditioned rooms for summer....it was very very hot there.

Review 18:Happened to be the evening of a holiday so lots of bell ringing and fireworks - like a USA 4th of July celebration. Beyond hotels control.....hotel was nice!

Review 19:Simplicity of room and good location.

Review 20:My room looked out over an open apace in the old town. At night it was noisy. The outside entrance to the hotel needs to be better indicated.

Review 21:The wide and varied breakfast menu.

Review 22:There was not any airconditionin, you could hear the traffic noise from the street if the window was open. Staff was not very friendly and their enghlish was not that good. Breakfast was decent if we think about the price of the hotel

Review 23:Location was ok. Room was clean. There was a minibar in the room.

Review 24:Despite booking a room on the courtyard/river side of the building for a slightly higher price, we were given a room directly overlooking the street. We should have immediately complained, but foolishly thought a Thursday night wouldn't make a difference. Wow, were we wrong. We have never stayed in such a noisy room - multiple bars, clubs, and lots of street activity. Loud music, shouting and screaming throughout the night until well past 4am, followed by the extensive cleanup and street sweeping beginning around 7am. Because there is no climate control we had to leave the window open, which made the problem even worse. Staff in the morning just kind of shrugged and said they did not control the other businesses or people congregating on the street, while ignoring the fact that we had booked a room on the opposite side of the building. Would return happily but only if staying on the quieter side of the property.

Review 25:The rooms were very nice with a simple but attractive design and comfortable bed (would have been great sleep if not for the noise). Location is very convenient to access restaurants, etc.

Review 26:The staff is nice and helpful, the location is good, there is a bus from train station to the hotel, it is very convenient, I think hotel should tell it on the website. The view from the room is very good. The hotel restaurant is also good, both breakfast and dinner.

Review 27:Switzerland expensive to eat and drink but no negatives for hotel

Review 28:Single rooms large with comfortable bed. Good faculties. Excellent position - central. Not far from station. Staff polite. Good experience and would choose it again

Review 29:loud clubs over the road, so not ideal for light sleepers.

Review 30:good value for money, located close to main sights. he area is also good for cycling and hotel offers free bikes!

Review 31:Service was nonexistent. Staff were cold and not interested in helping or offer any advice. We met three staff and only the young girl on duty on Saturday has a smile on her face. Although our room was facing the inner court and on top floor, noise from street were non-stop as the hotel is just next to lots of bars. Room was stuffy under 30°C.

Review 32:The location is good with short distance to old town and train station. Room is large and clean. Got elevator so you don't need to walk up and down. Excellent WiFi. Breakfast was fair.

Review 33:Room was hot and we needed a fan going constantly. Due to the rushing river outside window needed to be open but it was noisy. Pick a courtyard facing room for more shade, not a south facing one unless you are travelling in winter! June was quite warm!

Review 34:Friendly multilingual check in staff, good location with many nearby restaurants

Review 35:The hotel was undergoing renovations and as a result was quite dusty in our room. When I woke up in the morning I had to wipe a layer of dust off my phone screen. My husband acquired an infection overnight. I contacted the hotel for a refund or part refund, however they declined.

Review 36:The location was good in terms of being in the Old Town. However, we were unsure of the safety judging by a few people we saw around the hotel area.

Review 37:The bed was too soft, because I have a back injury; otherwise it would have been good.

Review 38:The hotel was sparkling clean, my room was out of this world, the biggest single room ever! Amazing! I loved my room with the view of the mountains, the staff was excellent at reception and at breakfast. I recommend this hotel to everybody. Perfect location, too!

Review 39:- Breakfast was ok, but it can have more varieties like waffle or pancake.

Review 40:- Near to Chur station - Room was newly furnished and hence everything looked very new. - Staff was cordial

Review 41:The Location of this otherwise nice Hotel is very unfortunate. Bang in the middle of the red light district complete with Drunks and Perverts, we certainly did NOT feel at all safe!! Discos and Bars that stayed open all night weren't helpful for a peaceful sleep!!

Review 42:Very friendly and comfortable Hotel.

Review 43:Parking was a bit chaotic. There is virtually no shower gel, nor any shampoo provided. Breakfast was a bit basic.

Review 44:Room was modern, stylish, lovely design, very comfortable bed, and spacious. The staff were helpful.

Review 45:It was on a weekend and a lot of people on the street during the night.

Review 46:Close to main attractions (cable car to mountains or Arosa). If you book/request a quiet room, you get a good nights sleep without any interruption!

Review 47:The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was ideal. About 10 minutes' walk from the main station (15 if one has heavy baggage), close to the entrance to the old tow. I certainly recommend it.

Review 48:Breakfast options not the greatest. Fruit salad was from a can. Other choices limited.

Review 49:Front desk staff were outstanding. Young man was incredibly helpful.

Review 50:noisy on weekends since the location is in the middle of the party area of town. furniture in the rooms rather old fashioned, multiple keys for access to the building and even mini bar. parking situation is a bit cramped.

Review 51:all in all a nice stay for a short stop over in Chur to see town and travel on. nice location and interior.

Review 52:a short walk from the train station, the hotel Chur is on the edge of the old town. our room was clean and spacious, and had a balcony from which we could see the mountains.

Review 53:I didn't like the way the hotel front door was locked at 21.15hrs and asked to use side door with a sign warning to lock door after you to guard against thieves..this was very early. As a solo traveller This made me feel vulnerable as hotel is quite large and I felt very lonely and unsafe returning to my room.

Review 54:Hotel is in excellent location right beside the river and town. Very convenient for train station. Good modern well equiped room with lovely bathroom. There was no air conditioning and room was stifling hot.Breakfast was excellent. Excellent wifi.

Review 55:very comfortable hotel, nice decoration, good location

Review 56:Simple but yum breakfast :)

Review 57:Noise at night

Review 58:Fairly accessible location

Review 59:Nice location close to the old city. Friendly staff. Big room.

Review 60:The rooms were roomy and very clean and comfortable. Perfect location. We had a room overlooking the river and it was very quiet.

Review 61:room was a little bit old fashioned but had everything i needed.

Review 62:the location, not too far away from the train station.

Review 63:Red light district location

Review 64:Quiet hotel

Review 65:Can be a bit noisy at night.

Review 66:Good location just outside old town. Helpful staff. Good bike storage.

Review 67:The weather was hot and we requested for fan but was told that all fans were taken up. Couldn't have a good night's sleep.

Review 68:Lack of tea making facility.

Review 69:Location.

Review 70:Unfortunately if was very hot in Chur when I stayed, the small fan was not enough to relieve the heat in the room.

Review 71:Good price

Review 72:The great atmosphere and the wonderful room. especially liked the floor.

Review 73:Some stair/bumps on the corridor makes hauling heavy luggage awkward

Review 74:Riverside view of city

Review 75:Bed was too soft

Review 76:Location

Review 77:Rooms can use more lighting

Review 78:Next to bus stop

Review 79:Great choice of continental breakfast. Location good. Great views. Comfortable room.

Review 80:The alley was very loud until 6 in the morning. We requested quiet. I wish I would have known and booked the room on the river side.

Review 81:Management behaviour and non-cooperation. No room service. No kettle/coffee in room. Breakfast is not unto the mark.

Review 82:Only location.

Review 83:no bad experience

Review 84:location

Review 85:poor , small rooms , old furniture and bathroom , the lamp out of order , poor breakfast

Review 86:helpfull personel at reception

Review 87:Decor, breakfast both poor. Few amenities. Half the staff we encountered was friendly, other half cold.

Review 88:The bed was comfortable

Review 89:Nothing specific

Review 90:Hotel was very well maintained and breakfast was good

Review 91:Breakfast had no hot meal(egg, sausage etc)

Review 92:Size of the rom was spacious

Review 93:Trying to check out at 0600 ,am and find the front desk deserted and find the hotel doors locked and no way out of the hotel lol

Review 94:Limited breakfast choice.

Review 95:Everything....best hotel in my Euro tour.

Review 96:it was just me arrive at midnight then I lost direction. it takes about 15 mins to walk from the railway station.

Review 97:view and friendly staff

Review 98:none

Review 99:location,price

Review 100:My first night was in an old room, which looked quite below Swiss standards, but for only 10 francs I upgraded it for a renewed room, and this one was perfect: simple good design, nice bathroom, etc.

Review 101:Good Swiss service for a reasonable price.. They even had umbrellas to lend for their customers, it is a nice and rare detail.

Review 102:Extremely noisy - a bar with people drinking outside just cross the street till late at night Poor service. Reception staff does not really understand any other language than german poor breakfast

Review 103:central location parking facilitees

Review 104:The offer of first room was refused as it was musty, carpet was worn and noisy. I requested another room and was much happier. Renovations are in progress and can be a little inconvenient and noisy.

Review 105:Hotel Chur nice place to stay. My third visit and still as enjoyable.. Staff always pleasant and smiling. Close to old town which is great. Rooms facing river are nice and pretty quiet. Can recommend

Review 106:Unfortunately the fire alarm was triggered at half 3 in the morning, possibly from the club in the basement, not the hotels fault, howeverwhat surprised me slightly was that despite having taken time (afterdetermining there was no smoke) to not be wanderingo utside in my PJsthat only a Weegie couple had made it down before me and had let thepolice and fire brigade in to investigate. Where was everyone else? Itwas after this I noticed that the fire advice notices normally found inrooms were not there, and I also thought the alarm was maybe a bit quietalthough I was at the furthest point from the sounder I had to walk pastone to get to the exit.

Review 107:Great hotel, comfortable, clean, fantastic restaurant and good selectionfor breakfast.

Review 108:on our first night we were kept awake with the noise from the nightclub and the pubs until 5am.then to crown it all the fire alarm went off,so we had to go down the stairs to find that there was no staff in the hotel .I even had to let the police in and then one of the staff came running into the hotel.it was a false alarm .on night two it was a lot quieter but the fire alarm went off again about 4.30am so another night sleep ruined. on night 3 the phone rang at 11 pm with no one there.so instead of staying for 4 nights we left early.the hotel did not charge us for the 4th night but we had just started our holiday and we were very tired from no sleep.

Review 109:the price was ok the room was good .the breakfast was just what you expect.

Review 110:Could have done with air con but it didn't spoil our stay.

Review 111:hotel was exceptionally clean and décor was very attractive. Room was spacious and beds very comfortable. Staff very welcoming and helpful.

Review 112:No air conditioning so had to open window and the traffic noise was terrible. No complementary water, no English speaking TV channels.

Review 113:Staff were friendly and helpful, reasonably big room.

Review 114:My individual room was very small and narrow. Not in the best ofconditions (the walls needed some whitewashing). The hotel does notprovide you with basic things like free shampoo (something I personallymissed) or a electric kettle to make yourself some tea (typical inGerman hotels). I had problems finding free outlets inside. I had acouple of issues with the stuff (the cleaning service) though nothingextremely serious. The breakfast was a bit poor and repetitious. Therewere a couple of bordellos on the backside of the hotel (though thiscould be positive depending on who might read this) although they weremostly quiet. The hotel is a bit far from the station (10 minutes walk)but I personally preferred it that way.

Review 115:The stuff was very kind and friendly in general. The Hotel has some kindof retro appeal to it (it looks like it was built in the 1950s) I guessthere must be other rooms which are more spacious and complete thanmine. The restaurant looks pretty good and well-lit. The area where itis located is not bad at all, very closed to the old side of town. Theinternet service they provide is good. I had a narrow view of themountains from my window (hard to find these days). My time there wasmostly quiet I didn't hear much noise.

Review 116:Decor could do with an update, better bathroom amenities needed

Review 117:The room was warm, the duvet one of the best I've ever slept under & the fridge a good touch.

Review 118:Hotel room was a little too warm.

Review 119:Good breakfast, good choice of cold foods. Breads delicious. Good restaurant, very popular. Railway Station nearby. Stadt Station very near hotel for Arosa. Once an hour in each direction. Quaint old town just over the road.

Review 120:We could not get an Internet connection in our room as advertised....we had to stand in the hall to use it.

Review 121:Great staff! Like our room with view of river and city. All the comforts we needed.

Review 122:I realize it is an older hotel but an updated television and airconditioning would really improve the room.

Review 123:The hotel had a lot of character and really kept with the ambiance andatmosphere of the Switzerland mountains. Breakfast was delicious. Allstaff welcomed us warmly. The location was very close to the trainstation and we enjoyed the restaurant next door.

Review 124:The bathroom decor and facilities were rather dated, the towels looked rather worn; however everything was functional and clean.

Review 125:The Hotel Chur is a large traditional hotel, located very close to the old town centre. The reception staff were helpful and the restaurant and public reception area was clean and tidy. The room was smart and clean with good lighting and a reasonable view over the river towards the town centre (my room was on the rear / west side). Double glazing was effective in keeping out the noise of the channelled river and road beyond. Although I did not use them I believe the hotel had sauna / disco-bar in the first floor. This might be of interest, or conversely may be a nuisance if your room is too close to the disco? 50mtr from the hotel you enter the old town centre, which is charming and convenient.

Review 126:The other room!

Review 127:We had 2 rooms booked and they couldn't be more different. Our room was fantastic with balcony, great new bathroom and lots of space BUT our freinds room was tiny, cramped and the bathroom was from the 1970's. Such a difference between 2 rooms was amazing!

Review 128:I did not realize that it was possible to get 13" tube TVs anymore so this hotel was a blast from the past. There was no air conditioning or even a fan in the room. A little too close (next door) to the red light district.

Review 129:It was clean. Breakfast was pretty good.

Review 130:By busy roundabout. Excellent double glazed windows kept the noise out,but no air conditioning meant having to keep a window open and let allthe noise in. Expensive.

Review 131:Breakfast

Review 132:A very good hotel, we had a problem but it was quickly resolved. Staff very kind and friendly.

Review 133:it's uphill from train station

Review 134:the sound of flowing water
