Reviews for Santa Marina Holiday Village

Review 1:No WiFi in the apartments, although free wired internet is provided.

Review 2:Fantastic location in a forest overlooking the beach. Well maintained grounds, beautifully designed buildings, spacious apartments.

Review 3:I did have a bad experience but for personal medical reasons ; I cannot reproach anybody for this. On the contrary, your doctor was very helpful. Nevertheless, I did not like some facts: nobody, including people in the restaurant, does speak any western language, except in the Reception ; everything, including the TV, is in Russian although we are in a European Union country; any form of shopping is very expensive; the rooms, except in big apartments, are very small.

Review 4:Very nice place, a good organization, a very interesting architectural design and realization

Review 5:Staff is very rude and not helpful. Facilities in the apartments are far too basic for the price they charge

Review 6:Public areas are very good with varied activities for children and adults alike. Food in all the restaurants is very good, if overpriced

Review 7:The beaches next to the venue are small.

Review 8:Location is nice. Lots of gardens, peaceful and quiet. Security is very well put in place. Parking inside is safe. Prices in the supermarkets inside the venue are very good and also in the restaurants. Access to the gym is not guaranteed to be free, they might charge it.

Review 9:The facility is nice and clean but they do not have enough parking space so you have to leave the car outside the resort. The staff does not know anything but bulgarian so at the restaurant you get what they want not what you want. The beach is not nice - it is very small and shallow and you can not swim. You can use the pools but they are full with children so you have no place to swim. The city next to the resort is dusty, old with no attractions. Finally the resort is ok but I will never go back. It is only ok if you have children and stay with them whithin the resort at the pool.

Review 10:it's are marvellous place, we and other friends spent already four times our holidays in marina beach: lovely, green, proper not overcrowded location - perfect to relax as a couple or with kids

Review 11:You have to be an early bird to get a lounger by the pool at aqua zone1,a few more coat hangers would be great as only had 12 between 4 of us but these are just little things that in no way spoilt our stay.

Review 12:On arrival we were blown away with the place, so beautiful and well managed, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and hope to return next year for a longer stay, I work in tourism in the uk and found that the apartment was very clean, lovely decor and furnishings etc, there is a choice of restaurants which were all fabulous and catered for everybody. 5 amazing aqua zones around the resort with pools of all depths.

Review 13:The staff is ruining everything. They have absolutely no training and they behave rude, aggressive, completely impolite and careless for your needs. I had a big argue with a security guard because he said my friend is a very bad driver when we were trying to park in a very tight and difficult spot. At the end he started threatening me with violence. This is unacceptable from a person who works at this kind of place. They should be there to protect the guests not to threaten and ridicule them. Another day a different security guard grabbed my friends keys from his hand by force without saying anything in order to check the number. They barely speak English and they have absolutely no sense of what good behavior means. The people at the restaurant are also behaving like they own the place and they are doing you a favor if they clean your table. I asked 6 times to get my table cleaned so I could eat and only after insisting very much somebody finally came (after 20 minutes) to clean it. During this time they were talking to each other and one of the girls was chatting on her phone. I was amazed how less they cared for the guests needs. The staff is ruining any good experience this place might give. Its so so so poorly managed that it becomes a bad place to spend your holiday in.

Review 14:The location of this complex is very good. Well built and the design of the campus is great. Too bad the staff is completely untrained and rude.

Review 15:Some of the waiters were rude and inadequate. The studio was dirty, poorly equipped and kind of old but not in that vintage nice way. The door lock was broken and the TV had about 15 channels, most of which in Russian.

Review 16:I liked everything-the service, the gardens, the room which was equipped with everything you need. Тhe resort is very beautiful. There are 4 restaurants with diverse tasty food, there is mini-market and several оther shops. There are 2 beaches and 4 swimming pools, in fact you have all you might need. It was not overcrowded in Jun and it was not too expensive at all.

Review 17:The staff could have been friendlier, the maid looked through my beach bag, and there are too many Russians.

Review 18:Two private beaches, 5 pools, wondefully maintained green areas, a lot of things to do - both for adults and kids

Review 19:Restaurants and bars are overpriced both food and drinks are too expensive. Too many Russians whom should behave better especially around swimming pools - staff is tolerating them as they are by far the biggest group.

Review 20:The flats are big, fully equipped and pleasant. Generally nice complex - quiet (off-season), well situated and with friendly personnel.

Review 21:Only thing I did not enjoy were the pilows. But that's fixable:)

Review 22:We loved the place, the gardens, the view, the pools and walks. It was so calm! Birds singing, beautifull flowers, very nice people working there. Perfect for parents, very well tought for kids and elder persons. Bravo!

Review 23:Although I was supposed to pay during our three days trip in Sozopol, the hotel debited my account twice (90 EUR in total), prior to arriving there. One of the ladies at the Reception looked a little bit pissed off when I've asked her for explanations. If travelling by car, bear in mind that there are not enough parking lots inside the village and you might be forced to park on a nearby alley. There is no WIFI in rooms, but you can get an UTP cable at the Reception. If you choose a room with seaview, you'll have to pay an extra EUR 10/night.

Review 24:We have been travelling off-season, so, except a restaurant, and a supermarket, most of the facilities were not avaialable. However, the holiday village looks great, and has some great swimming pools.

Review 25:-Professional and friendly staff -Quiet and beautiful location - Good breakfast buffet - Very nice villas and surroundings with trees and well kept gardens - spacious and clean room

Review 26:The sea water around the hotel is disgusting (smelly!!); the beaches are very disappointing as well. We obviously had some bugs in our bed, when informing the reception, our beds were treated with chemicals (Raid), which according to my understanding can be dangerous. Since we were there with our little daughter, we decided to leave one day early, but still had to pay the last night.

Review 27:The setting of the houses overall is nice; proximity to Sozopol as well

Review 28:staqtq e super malka za semeistvo ,ne otgovarq na rezervaciqta.na snimkite e kato apartament i nqma ni6to ob6to s deistvitelnosta .otdelna spalnq i salon.o4akvaxme po dobro.

Review 29:Restaurant food quality is poor. Staff customer service is poor.

Review 30:Good swimming pools for young children. Good access to beaches. Mainly Russian complex. Good convenience stores in the complex. Well maintained grounds

Review 31:The studio we stayed was comphortable with everything you need to feel home even more! Terrace and garden very well maintaned. The service is exelent espessially the security gards who could take your luggage with the electrocars.

Review 32:With all the virtues there are definately some refinement opportunities in this complex. The restaurants are managed poorly. The staff is trying to respond quickly, but are overloaded, not enough and lack proper education. As result the waitresses or barmans are often tired, make mistakes or even do not notice you. In case one understands bulgarian, quite uncensored mumbling can be heard. You may wish to avoid restaurants and surely the bars if possible. The nearby Sozopol offers some alternatives. The complex is detached from Sozopol, which is major tourist attraction in Bulgaria. There is a regular train to/from there, but it stops 10-15 minutes away from the interesting old town of Sozopol. The complex is IMO not suitable for young people, seeking parties and night live.

Review 33:The complex is quite large, comprised of several hundreds of small blocks, each surrounded with plenty of green areas and pine trees. Apartments are spacious, clean, with large teraces and mostly good looking. Some of the teraces are with magnificet sea view, topping in gold sea at sun set. If there is possibility, the hotel staff always fulfill special accomodation requests, such as view. Avoid last floor apartments that are hot, due to the roof, even with climatization turned on. The complext is mainly inhabited by apartment owners. Russian families with children, which are very quiet, read books, play or bike around disturbing nobody. Russians we met there were all well educated and opened for contacts. The complex is closed with security on the main entrance. No vehicles allowed, but quiet hotel's electric cars only, operated by hotel staff. So one can sеt in peаce, leave the children cruising around and having fun. If your apartment is detached from the beach or some desired palce, e.g. restaurant, you can use the regular el. buses or order an el. taxi on good price. There are two beaches, they are also quite closed to non-guests. The one closer to Zlatna Ribka (access via elevator) is the larger one. We particularly enjoyed the vast cool shadows under the trees on trimmed. As in the complex, there are a lot of children facilities, playgrounds, shooting, table tennis right on the beach. Often parties with good live signers are organized on the beach bars in the evenings, where you can see Bulgarian pop and rock starts, such as Rafi. There is little sand on the beach. The sea is not bad at all, the bank is not steep, so it is perfectly safe for non-swimmers. The water is not crystal clear, as is the case with BlackSea due to the natural plankton.

Review 34:Restaurant food and drink prices overpriced.

Review 35:Cleanliness, swimming pools, apartment well laid out, environment really pleasant.

Review 36:Customer service did not meet my expectations for 4 star hotel

Review 37:Facilities are nice and clean.

Review 38:poor breakfast, cheap feta cheese, have to pay extras in chash

Review 39:room, environment, beach,

Review 40:None

Review 41:Location

Review 42:lack of wi-fi in apartments

Review 43:great complex with lots of facilities

Review 44:There was nothing that I disliked.

Review 45:I liked everything about the resort. Everybody was really friendly and helpful.

Review 46:no room service available

Review 47:room and green area

Review 48:Everything was just perfect! Dream place, well maintained garden, nice views, great service!

Review 49:The breakfast

Review 50:Everything without breakfast.

Review 51:NO INTERNET CONECTION IN THE ROOM

Review 52:Location, architecture, quiet...

Review 53:It's a bit expensive but worthy!

Review 54:The Beach "Golden Fish",the maintainess of the complex, organisation,it's clean, restaurant Veranda

Review 55:Sewage dumps in the sea near beach2

Review 56:Very well planted area, green domestic transport.

Review 57:the beach was not cleaned very well this time.

Review 58:perfect for families with small child

Review 59:There was nothing about the hotel or its facilities which we did not like. However it is worth noting that this is a family resort (with capacity for nearly 5,000 at the height of their season!), and if you are after a quiet get-away with someone special you may find yourself surrounded by families with children, especially by the pool. We noticed that of the few families who were there, the majority were Russian, and the children were very badly behaved - the parents and grandparents decided that rather than going over to the children to tell them off, they would just sit on their lounger and bellow across the pool to them. Thankfully they tended to stay at the same pool so we could just avoid them by going to a different one. Again, this isn't the hotels fault, but just a heads up - there are occasionally loud Russians with bad people skills and unruly children.

Review 60:We found our entire stay at Santa Marina was excellent - the staff were friendly, informative and helpful. And it was fantastic value for money From the road it is well sign-posted and clear where to go; if you're in any doubt just look on googlemaps before you arrive and familiarise yourself with the roads. The housekeeping team make up the beds and wash the floor every day, and refresh the towels regularly too. This made for a very pleasant stay and didn't interrupt us at all, because we were by the pool during their cleaning visits. The pools are clean, well attended by life-guards and bar staff, and a perfect temperature to cool down in. We found the variety of restaurants on site was excellent, the food was always fresh and tasty, and actually very well priced in comparison to some of the water-side restaurants in Old Sozopol. We would drink a few cocktails by the bar each night and as our faces were fairly regular we got excellent service from the staff - but this only improved on already excellent attendance. We went at the end of May, which is still about 2 weeks ahead of the start of their summer season. Because of this it was normally very quiet at the resort, this was lovely during the day by the pool, but there was a distinct lack of atmosphere in the restaurants at night. However this is clearly not the fault of the resort, it is the nature of the time of year.

Review 61:About 15-20min walk from the old town so a car or bike is preferred if you want to do lots of Sozopol exploring.

Review 62:Great, clean pools and delicious food. Overall a pleasant stay!

Review 63:It would be great if there is WiFi in the rooms. Breakfast could offer more choices.

Review 64:The greenery around the entire complex. Staff was helpful. Away from the noise of the city, yet only 2-minute drive to the old town of Sozopol. Free cable internet in the rooms. Good food in the restaurant.

Review 65:Tiles in the room (enhancing the sensation of feeling cold). No room slippers available. We called the reception and the answer was that they dont have this available for guests. 30 min late somebody came and brought 2 pairs, probably from the spa. That showed good customer centricity Somehow dark on the alley's, can be creepy walking home during the night. Wifi was not stable TV channels Russia and Bulgaria 90%, no flat screen Room air conditioning noisy

Review 66:The village is green, lot of trees, nice walks Room was spacious (we had a studio), kitchen had all the basics for cooking, including appliances Nice view over the bay and close the old town (3 min by car) The village had all the facilities, including shop, spa, playground, not possible to see all of them though (offseason when we visited). Looked very children friendly Price was good

Review 67:rude personnel on the reception August and September - season of rotavirus, dangerous for small children

Review 68:6 Restaurants on the territory best place to stay with small children, very safe

Review 69:The closest beach was a bit grubby with litter from the sea being bulldozed into piles at the side. The on-site restaurants are not very good value compared to outside restaurants except for the pizza place which was great.

Review 70:The landscaping on the site was beautiful and the pools were lovely. The loungers in the woods by the 'beach' were lovely but very overpriced. The old town of Sozopol was lovely, but you need a map to find it from the little train which takes you from the resort!

Review 71:The bed was too short for my husband who is over 6 feet tall so he had to sleep diagonally. A couple of times we wished there was an adults only pool (or a few hours in the evening) and/or area/restaurant because of some pretty poorly behaved children (expect to be surrounded by kids).

Review 72:Very clean pools with lots of deck chairs. One bed apartment was huge for two people! Staff was super friendly.

Review 73:Very well maintained property, peaceful atmosphere, great gardens and flowers selection. Picturesque views on Sozopol bay in combination with very kind and efficient staff. Totally recommended.

Review 74:We booked our room via www.booking.com but when we arrived to the hotel we were not allowed to park inside the hotel territory. We had to park out of the entrance. We were even not welcomed in to the hotel territory. I had to walk by myself to the reception inside so I left my family in the car with two small kids at night in a rural area in the dark. When I was thinking to make a quick checkin because it was late night I was told by the receptionist that they had no reservation. I told the lady and insisted that I have one Two-Bedroom Apartment reserved for us and she said they did not confirm my reservation so I had no reservation. I was shocked. We were given one bedroom basement apartment for one or two people but we were 4 people. I had to sleep in a simple folded bed which was folded twice at that night I wounded my wrist and one of my kids had to sleep on the couch. A day later were given ground floor Two-Bedroom Apartment which had very cheap furnishings. No flat screen as they advertised. Actually first night the flat screen was one foot size so you had to sit right in-front of it to watch. Sheets and pillows were smelling like horrible they were all stink. They probably only wash the covers but not the pillows and blankets. We communicated with the sales center of this closed community building to look for opportunities to buy a residential building for our summer holidays in there; however, we had the worst nights in the Santa Marina hotel. We will never get back to Santa Marina Hotel. Poor investors they did make very big investment but service needs to be improved in Santa Marina. By the way, for the first night they told us that they will not charge us for the price we booked for but 20 Euro less due to the difficulties we had in the first night while checking in; however the room we were given first night was probably being used by the personnel of Santa Marina and it was not reserved for the customers.

Review 75:Very nice building architecture.

Review 76:Not enough shops on site, , the cost of food can be more than double in other parts of Bulgaria.

Review 77:Easy access by main road and great views for most of the apartments. Good design of rooms, easy and comfortable.

Review 78:Is a great place for families. It was quiet at all hours of the day with several pools which all contained kiddie pools. Also there were several playgrounds. The beach was a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Review 79:Some of the staff doesn't seem to care about clients needs and fillings. On our first night my famaly had to share two studio flats instead of two beadroom flat which we had booked origenaly. So double booking seems to be problem for the management

Review 80:Everything is very tidy, clean and realy relaxing.

Review 81:We liked everything at Santa Marina. The thing that was missing in theroom was a wall mirror which was provided upon request.

Review 82:The entire personnel were very polite and helpful. The set up of thehotel is amazing and eco friendly. We really had an unforgettableexperience. Thank you to all the boys and girls at Santa Marina formaking our stay so enjoyable.

Review 83:The hotel apartments are spread in the Santa Marina holiday village, which is beautifully placed on a hill near the Sozopol lagune. Transport to the two beaches is provided by electric buses for the people, which have problems climbing the stairs to the vilas. A shuttle reaches in 3 minutes the old town of Sozopol. For all potential problems I saw, it appeared a solution is offered. For quiet and relaxing sea holidays maybe the best place in BG.

Review 84:As said previously, not really catering for English.

Review 85:Pools were very nice, clean. Only used Pool '2' as others quite far awayand the walk quite hard in the heat of the day due to the hills andsteps. New beach bar very nice, food good. Ate in restuarant twice nearreception, very good quality of food. Room very spacious and clean. Didnot manage to connect to internet at all during the stay so should notbe advertised as 'free wi-fi'. Staff friendly however not really cateredfor English as much as Russian's, noticeboards did not have Englishtranslation so a bit frustrating especially when wanting to read weatherreport! Overall very nice, it was recommended to us as my family stayedtheir last year and enjoyed it.

Review 86:Santa Marina is a car-free holiday village two kilometers away from Sozopol. It is very green, with several pools, bars, restaurants, playgrounds for children, sports facilities and a private beach. The staff are helpful and polite. Our apartment was on the top floor of a villa overlooking the bay. We would definitely recommend it to other people with young children.

Review 87:This time we found a couple of things which were rather dissapointing: 1. The I-net has strange stone-aged way of connecting. It took a while before we were online. No Wi Fi in the rooms. 2. There's a little supermarket in the complex which is handy and well thought. But the service is so slow that you don't want to enter again.

Review 88:We adore the location, the swimming pools and all the green in the complex.

Review 89:We booked 2 couples on same booking with same card. But our rooms where 4 blocks apart. They said we should have asked for rooms together. Our friends room was lovely. Our was awful. Fridge door hanging off. Shower screen fell off. Cable tv didn't work. Distressed furniture which just looked cheap. And this complex is not good for anyone with mobility issues there are steps everywhere and no lifts in any buildings some with 5 floors.

Review 90:We loved the look of the place. It's very child friendly if that's what you want. Most staff are great. Great pool. But on site bars empty at night despite good entertainment.

Review 91:They charged me with the cost of accomodation immediatelly when I made my booking. Which is not fair because it is written on the booking.com website that bank card details only for booking. I wanted to pay my room with a different bank card and for this reason I paid two times for the accomodation and I'm still waiting for my repayment. If I get my money back I will be very happy with this hotel.

Review 92:It was really cool.

Review 93:Strange that for a 4* hotel there is no wireless coverage in the rooms.

Review 94:The location was very good, rooms were clean and we've vot a beautifulseaside view from our room. Also very good quality/price ratio.

Review 95:The prices in booking.com do not match the ones you will find on site. This is a bit annoying.

Review 96:Nice location and perfect for family vacations. The rooms are veryclean, not too dense. The hotel staff is nice.

Review 97:Hi very good spot for less money we enjoyed very much the emptiness ofsozopol as well beaches, there were no tourist and this allowed us to beclose to happy greetings

Review 98:A superb closed resort positioned near the sea. Thumbs up for this place.

Review 99:There is no wifi in the rooms. We were in april and the rooms were too cold. Breakfast very expensive

Review 100:Everything... one of the best places in Bulgaria

Review 101:A perfect place for your summer vacation

Review 102:Most of it was not finished. Pool was cold and not heated.

Review 103:It lloks like it could be nice in the future and the pools were nice.

Review 104:location

Review 105:Clean, comfort, quiet apartments. Nice territory. Facilities for children.

Review 106:We appreciate the view of the sea.....and the confort of the appartment, peaceful place.
