Reviews for Gasthof de Kring

Review 1:The place seems to be family owned, so the staff is not so much qualified though helpful. We were warmly welcomed anyway. The room was spacious, but the bathroom was incredibly small. Hard to handle. Cleanliness was insufficient. Price was definitely unfair for the service.

Review 2:Location is great, close to the market, the cathedral and the best restaurants.

Review 3:Did not disslike anything

Review 4:Location, perfect, staff perfect,, parking perfect, bier uber perfect, a good visit to the area in november, train link to ieper perfect, excelent, breakfast BAZZING we enjoyed the stay

Review 5:Bar closed at 4pm on Thursday when we arrived along with restaurant. Unable to get wi-fi as the hotel effectively closed at the same time with no staff at all on duty.

Review 6:Room was basic but comfortable and breakfast was very good.

Review 7:Location for the main square was super. Car parking plentiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was great with a small shower cubicle and ample towels.

Review 8:I like a firm bed but the mattresses were far to hard, we were only staying for two nights so we did`nt asked for softer ones which may have been available. It would also have been good to have had the option of cereals or a cooked breakfast, No tea making facilities in the room.

Review 9:Location and staff were great, food in the bar was very good, loved the little court yard good for smokers. We liked the continental breakfast. Nice and quiet at night, although it was midweek when we stayed.

Review 10:The annexed room was very small and very hot. Bathroom had everything in it but hardly enough room to get inside to use it. An all night wedding party in a function room directly below our bedroom made it impossible to sleep. (Loud music, and noise in the courtyard.) We couldn't close the window because it was so hot. Second night was quieter.Zzzzzz. Restaurant closed on Sunday evening but plenty of choice in the town.

Review 11:The staff. The restaurant. The location. The price. Friendly staff and owners. Great food, wine and atmosphere in the restaurant. Located just a few yards from the town centre. Affordable prices. Would stay again in quieter circumstances with larger room. Would recommend.

Review 12:DO NOT GO ON A MONDAY. We arrived to find the hotel closed and locked. No answer to telephone. After an hour of asking found a shopkeeper that phoned the owners to be told that a small side door was open and there was a message for us indicating where our room was with the key

Review 13:Good location, near to main square, next to a magnificent church and only 100 yards from free parking, Good bar and an idealic courtyard. Excellent Restaurant well worth the visit.

Review 14:Just beneath the room a noisy party was organised during most of the night and the morning. Sanitary facilities are rather basic

Review 15:The staff was welcoming and very helpful, the location is perfect to visit the WWI sites and both breakfast and dinners are plenty and very tasty

Review 35:Only small issue is that the water in the room was incredibly hot, and could be quite dangerous.

Review 36:Great location in a beautiful town. Had beers in the square, followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Hotel staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 37:One small complaint, there was no hair dryer in the bathroom.

Review 38:Excellent location, lovely hotel, courtyard, room, bar and staff. Their restaurant had a really nice menu. Poperinge , itself is a nice small town with a lovely Grote Market so definitely worth an over night stay, even more so if you are a beer drinker, as it is the hop capital of Belgium.

Review 39:Being put in second floor rooms, up narrow steep stairs, with no lift. I should have asked for different rooms, especially as one of us has a slight mobility difficulty.

Review 40:Central location, very friendly staff

Review 41:No tea or coffee making facilities in the hotel room.

Review 42:Lovely restaurant, pleasant surrounders and helpful staff. Great location in the heart of Poperinge. Very welcoming staff. Bountiful breakfast!

Review 43:The bathroom is a little plastic tardis in the corner of the room, but not too bad. The real problem was the noise from the function room underneath us. We became a little worried when we found earplugs in our room when we returned from our day out. The music STARTED at midnight and went on for hours. Even with earplugs it was not good, and totally unacceptable that you should be expected to wear them in the first place. This one aspect means that we will not be staying here again when we return to one of our favourite Belgian town. It seems like normal practice for them, as it is even mentioned in the room information!

Review 44:Friendly staff, free parking just along the street, very good breakfast and a great location.

Review 45:no lift

Review 46:The friendly staff. Very helpful. Jer drove me to a cemetery which was very helpful and when I went to train station he also drove me. Very kind

Review 47:Too little room in the bathroom facilities Room up two flights of steep stairs and no lift.

Review 54:Staff, location, general outlook, price and decor outside the room.

Review 55:Food a little expensive.

Review 56:A great little Hotel with very good staff.

Review 57:The rooms are clean and tidy but dated. The water flow to the bath/shower was poor.

Review 58:We ate in the restaurant which was excelent.

Review 59:Very friendly staff

Review 60:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Restaurant/bar not open very often.

Review 61:Good base for War tours. Friendly stafff.
