Reviews for Manoir Ogygia
Review 1:Great location, very quite, comfortable and so relaxing. Breakfast delicious really looked after. We ate in the restaurant Friday wow what a great meal.
Review 2:This is a 4 star hotel allegedly. Firstly they do not do dinner on a Sunday even in the high season. Secondly we were asked if we could arrive by 13.30, no reason given. We arrived about 15.30 which we had advised them and shown to our room by the son of the owners. We saw absolutely no one from the hotel until the following morning at 8.30 when we came down for breakfast. You certainly could not use the word welcoming for this place. Either offer a proper service or don't open on Sundays at all.
Review 3:Lovely room with a jacuzzi
Review 4:The room we had, Hebe, felt a little dark, but that is the character of the room, The room was short of storage space. As other British visitors have commented it seems strange having a kettle but no other facilities to make a hot drink. However these little things did not detract from our overall enjoyment.
Review 5:We liked the feeling of luxury and the fact that you felt pampered by the hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The manoir and it's delightful garden are a secret oasis of relaxation. We liked the character, style and details of the hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a rest. Poperinge is a great base to explore Western Flanders with a delightful town square.
Review 6:Excellent location for Poperinge and easy distance in the car to Bruges and Ypres. It is a really beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds. We had a gorgeous room with a spiral staircase and views of the garden - a lot of effort has clearly gone in to the decor and appointment of the hotel and rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in and everything was spotlessly clear. There was a really lovely atmosphere and the staff were charming, helpful and professional. Breakfast was amazing - a really impressive selection of items. We loved every minute of our stay.
Review 7:We wished we could have had tea/coffee facilities in the room in the morning and the plugs in the his/her sinks weren't right.
Review 8:This is a beautiful place with a charming garden. The decor/design is rather special. The breakfast was like no other we have experienced in Europe... glass of cava, a delicious yoghurt drink with fresh fruit, scrabbled egg with bits of bacon in addition to the usual cold buffet.
Review 9:Ground floor room - overlooked from the front and the restaurant. Lack of privacy also in the bathroom - in open view of the bedroom (and from outside). Room was a little over-cluttered with too many small objects
Review 10:Convenient location; comfortable bed and very charming staff. Very pretty setting with a romantic feel
Review 11:Couldn't fault this hotel it had the wow factor it did what it said in the reviews was comfortable relaxing and friendly would defiantly return again
Review 12:Too expensive definitely should not be expected to pay for a cup of coffee at these room prices. No drawers for clothing in room.
Review 13:Comfortable quiet room.
Review 14:Our room had a loud ticking clock - but we wrapped it in a towel and popped it into the WC - we put it back before we left of course!
Review 15:The building, decorations, grounds and location are excellent.
Review 16:Everything about this hotel is lovely! The quality of the food was exceptional! We only stayed for one night enroute, so sampled one dinner and breakfast, both of which were superb! The husband and wife team and staff looked after us extremely well, and we look forward to returning!
Review 17:Lack of reception staff, poor communication and minor niggles in room such as plugs not working, taps swivelling, light bulbs missing. Lack of additional ventilation when hot and stuffy weather.
Review 18:Hotel was quirky, very clean and offered excellent breakfast.
Review 19:Room was rather dark (Demitri). Got bitten a lot by mosquitos - guess it's because of all the foliage around.
Review 20:Excellent location both for sightseeing and walking into town in the evening. Lovely staff - couldn't have been more friendly and helpful! Great grounds around hotel. Breakfast was superb!

Review 32:Lack of a bar and lounge area
Review 33:Its a very romantic cosy hotel
Review 34:The very expensive diner: food was oké, but the wines, part of the 85€, were not good. The (not really a typical, very cheap) chablis was served with two courses, the wine from Chili was undrinkable. Really a pity...
Review 35:The hotel has perfect chambers quite romantic. The garden is superb. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 36:The bed was a little uncomfortable, but that's just being picky!
Review 37:We felt relaxed and comfortable throughout our stay the owners and staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room and the rest of the hotel was tastefully decorated and helped to create the wonderfully comfortable environment. We ate in the restaurant and the service, food and wine was delicious.
Review 38:Poor welcome. 4 star hotel but no tea or coffee facilities in room. Useless clutter on every flat surface in bedroom. Empty Earl Grey tea tins, net bags of used wine corks and dried up wall nuts, small stuffed toys and a pile of cushions. No proper shower or privacy in bathroom, upper half of dividing wall was one large clear glass panel. No air con', room so hot had to sleep with windows open, so were badly bitten by mosquitoes from stagnant pond nearby in hotel garden. The only evening meal available was a 4 course fixed menu at 65 euros per head.
Review 39:The location. Safe and secluded car parking.
Review 40:even paying the bill wasn't not to like .............
Review 41:The grounds, the peaceful atmosphere, the luxurious feel, the room was fantastic - the breakfast - everything really
Review 42:Cluttered furnishings. No space on bedside tables or any other tables to put anything on. Dark room (Ground floor Hera) with no privacy as windows opened onto main entrance and restaurant. Nasty smell of drains in bathroom. Not enough information given at reception. Kettle provided in room but no cups or coffe/tea. These were outside room but not pointed out and hard to find.
Review 43:Nice garden.
Review 44:A little difficult to find otherwise nothing.
Review 45:the hotel was tucked away in poperinge near Ypres and was quite delightful. The rooms were very nice with excellent bathrooms. The 4 course set meal was delicious and good value for money. I will definitly book again !
