Reviews for La Renaissance Boutique Hotel & Spa

Review 1:No phone working in our room. We were offerd an other room but didnt see the point as only had 2days left.

Review 2:Everything the girl that done our room was great the room was always spotless.

Review 3:Its the best hotel ever stayed in here in Morocco. The staff are friendly and ready to help. Very clean and spacious room. The location is in a walkable distance from the train station and it is easy to find taxi around.

Review 4:The pollution u breath every time u open ur balcony the only way to have some air U will find ur self facing people in the other buildings no garden the pool is small The very bad smell some times make me dizzy The view was people facing u in the other buildings +the pollution n the noise

Review 5:The worst ever trust me The staff is horrible the house keeping is a real nightmare No gym the bars r dead The house keeping spying u just behind ur door I even lost my socks No privacy at all

Review 6:Booked hotel for pool - pool was a bird bath on the roof! Disgusting and a health hazard!! Covered in pigeons and their waste. Lift was very unreliable - it was in desperate need of an engineer. Air con - poor.

Review 7:Good location, nice breakfast.

Review 8:not good service of Internet but apart from this the hotel was excellent and would highly recommend it to friends and family.

Review 9:hotel communication Sky Bar

Review 10:NOT ENOUGH CHOICE AT BREAKFAST. THE ROOMS NEED TEA/COFFEE MAKING FACILITIES. THE SUITES NEED A TROUSER PRESS.

Review 11:THE LOCATION IS JUST PERFECT AND THE STAFF ARE WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY

Review 12:Awful.A terrible mess and my wife and i had to live a real humiliation with the woman at the desk reception of the hotel who first.. asked us our marriage certificate ( which is the low what i can understand..) but .. before booking, i asked to the manager to be kind enough to contact the desk office not to be bothered as legaly married but as i didin t have my marriage certificate on me.Things get a real shameful disaster when we met the terrible and nasty woman who first looked at us a very bas way. asked us to go to the police station .. to have an attestation.. (hhh!) and.. when i kindly proposed that a policeman passed to attest for our identity and marriage, she even refused. So..my wife went to take a cab.. came back with the legal paper and.. after the woman who was a real pain. now said that she could not see the booking with our booking number and confirmation.. a joke! she absolutely ruined our afternoon and for sure.. she had the booking in her intranet but too much hassle for this gentle lady who simply hated us. after.. an explanation when .. she said " rien a foutre" means.. i do not fuc..care.. we quit and booked immediatly the Bab hotel which was just splendid with a wonderful staff and for sure.. could check their booking. an horrible experience we really wish that the booking.com guest may avoid at all cost. Faithfully,Olli.

Review 13:We did like the hospitality of the sky bar staff who have been really charmful wirh especially Sifdine , the sky bar senior manager who was very kind indeed with us.So far.. so good..

Review 14:The room was dirty and the receptionist was rude, didnt care and he didnt even leave his phone while we were checking in.

Review 15:The staff at the restorant was very good.

Review 16:Staff mixed up our reservation paper and upon checking out wanted us to pay a lot more. This wasted at least an hour of my time and I was getting late for my flight.

Review 17:Nice clean hotel and good location, centre of French quarter.

Review 18:Poor breakfast: very little choice, things like eggs/omelette/crepes Marrocan are not freshly cooked infront of you - they are available at self-service area in warm casserols, but when we took them, they were cold, eggs were smelly and crepes were not soft and too dry. Croissaints are OK, not more. I have doubt about water cleanness of the swimming pool: during breakfast we saw dozens of city pigeons washing themselves in the swimming pool, so take care, it might be not very hygienic. Only 3 sunbeds on the roof, if you want to sunbathe, it's not here.

Review 19:We were here for just 1 night, so for 1 night it's a correct hotel: amazing location in citycenter close to shopping area, cool restos&bars, everything is very close! Registration process took us just 5 minutes, which is a very good timing :) (normally it's 30-40 minutes). Very nice and helpful staff. Good fresh orange juice for the breakfast. Clean rooms, comfortable bed (not big, but very comfortable), pleasant AC. Good noise-isolation, even our room was facing main street, it was not noisy.

Review 20:The airconditioning didn't work properly, the swimming pool could get a cleaning from time to time and some more eye for details would improve it (such as chairs on the terraces, some parts of the hotel could use some paint, and better coffee at the breakfast would be an improvement).

Review 21:The staff was nice

Review 22:There is a lot traffic noise all night as you are in the city centre. If you have trouble sleeping this place isn't for you. The Spa was only offering the hamam as they had no masseurs during our stay.

Review 23:The staff are absolutely fantastic and incredibly helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel is near all the touristy sites.

Review 24:We travel to Marrakech regularly for business (last 10 years) and like to try different hotels -- this time it was La Renaissance but we won't be returning because our female companion in a single room received repeated late night telephone calls (1.30 am +) from an male staff member - she was very troubled by the staff member's conduct - not ever acceptable and absolutely not what you expect from professional hotel staff in a 4 star hotel -- never had this problem in any of the previously hotels . This was reported to reception who initially dismissed the complaint but then promised to do something about it - hmmm not convinced; On other matters in one room the bath didn't drain; after 10 pm no one in the hotel would answer the internal room phone (tried reception, housekeeping, manager, room service and one other) so you have to go down to reception; the soundproofing dampened the outside noise but it was still very noisy - if you are a light sleeper don't choose one of the street facing rooms; on checkout the hotel charged more than our confirmed reservation (not talking about the local tax - we expected that -- but not a completely different room rate.- it was a difference of a couple of Euro per room but still it shouldn't happen we had no choice and paid up so we could leave and never return.

Review 25:The room was very clean; convenient location in the Guilez district; there is a very pleasant roof-top bar (downside is there are smokers everywhere);

Review 26:Customer service. Although upgraded due to no rooms available to which we booked a week previous we had to wait 4 hours for a key, ended up going out for dinner still to return unable to enter our room. Breakfast served between 7-10 was cleared away at 9.30 sharp and the general hotel toilets where dirty, no toilet roll or broken.

Review 27:Roof top bar and views where great

Review 28:-The hall (when you close youre hotel room) smells like somebody fart for one hour long. - Airco not feeling cold enough i told the staff about this butt they say the airco working like it should

Review 29:- Ambiance - Facilities - Middle in the city of Marrakech/Geuliz - Very beautiful Sky bar and good drinks

Review 30:This was not mock boutique like so many others. It had everything and in style including a steel basin that sat on the counter but was plumbed in - nice touch. In fact the bathroom was fabulous, so was the room for that matter. The only rider on the above is that I am not a swell traveller and have stayed in my fair share of fleapits. Anyone used to 4 star might wonder why I am so enthusiastic.

Review 31:Breakfast choice limited but quality OK. Like others mentioned on internet, tried to charge me for drink at bar I never purchased at check out and couldn't show me any documentation. Purchased my only drink in cash.

Review 32:Main reception staff generally friendly and room keeping staff polite and efficient. Roof top bar offers very good views of Marrakech but beware of being charged for drinks not purchased when checking out as swipe cards don't have room numbers and system is therefore open to potential abuse.

Review 33:The only thing was the pigeons by the pool.

Review 34:The staff we're helpful and nothing was to much bother for them. Room service was excellent. Definitely recommend see you all again in October.

Review 35:it's past it's best days, not a hotel I want to remember - good for an emergency sleepover though, which was the whole purpose of staying

Review 36:staff was helpful, facilities ok

Review 37:No safe in my room, asked reception twice but nothing happened. Tried tocharge a room for mini bar use despite nothing being taken. The guywould not come into the room to check the minibar for confirmation

Review 38:Great service until the end. Friendly and chatty staff made everyonefeel welcome. All reception staff we willing to go extra mile

Review 39:The bar personnel was very annoying. When I went to the the sky lounge to enjoy the nice view in the evening i wasn't able to order a coffee or a soda. The guy kept insisting to sell me alcoholic drinks because of the insane prices. I found this very pathetic. I told him that i do not drink alcohol. This is not way to treat your guests who have already paid for accommodation. Eventually I just left the sky lounge. Also i didn't like the Dahab club downstairs. The women were all prostitutes working. And the guys looked as if they were their bosses.

Review 40:Front office personnel was friendly and helpfull. Especially Jamal, thank you for your help!

Review 41:Staff generally helpful but so overworked that time was wasted to get a question answered. Hotel needs a separate concierge.

Review 42:Comfortable room, clean, excellent decor, good light, hot water and nice bathroom. Lovely rooftop restaurant and bar. breakfast good and got better when they began serving on roof terrace. Location excellent as near Medina but far enough away to be relaxing.

Review 43:There is no parking lot , parking in street not free they tow thé car if not paid réservation price is 1274 dh but they ask me to pay 1550 dh les voleurs

Review 44:Really i pass thé day outside i come just to sleep,

Review 45:Breakfast choice was fine with meas i don't eat much but I would think the selection might be limited for more demanding clients.

Review 46:Room: nice, modern, clean, good amenities. Roof restaurant had a great view. Heard from other reviewers that the place is noisy especially near the rooftop restaurant. So I asked for a room in the lower floors. I also arrived on a national holiday, so the town was quieter than normal so I can't comment on that. It's location is good so I would expect a hotel in a good location to have noisier surroundings. But had good sleep; no issues with noise.

Review 47:The rooms are quite small, so would recommend going for the suite option. Also it can be loud in the evening, but it´s the same anywhere in Marrakesh :-). Otherwise, it´s a pleasant hotel.

Review 48:The location is perfect if you´re passing through Marrakesh or simply don´t want to be in the middle of the medina. The hotel is stylish with a good restaurant and bar, and the breakfast served gives a wide range of choices. Overall it´s an easy, neutral place to stay and since this was our second time there, we will definitely be coming back.

Review 49:excellent staff and polite reception manager. great WiFi connection Nice location very clean hotel

Review 50:polite people nice location of hotel great Internet connection nice food and hotel facilities are great with nice rooftop sky bar.

Review 51:We booked the hotel in view of it having a swimming pool but this was closed and obviously had been for a long time.

Review 52:Actually everything, incloud de night service of reception.

Review 53:The location was good! The recpcionest on daytime was very friendly.

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:Everything is great especially after coming from a 4 star hotel which deserves at most 2 stars

Review 56:The staff was very bad especially in restaurant poor service no English very bad service also very rude

Review 57:Location in middle of very busy streets and noise impossible.

Review 58:Breakfast .Pool Terrace

Review 72:the reception team

Review 73:location

Review 74:the scents in the lobby and hallways

Review 75:Pillows and bed, heated towels

Review 76:The location and the restaurant's view

Review 77:nothing

Review 78:almost everything

Review 79:noisy room on 1 st floor room key kaputt tv

Review 80:breakfast on the top terrace quiet and sunny with 360° view concierge helpful

Review 81:The sheets were sign of blak dirt .it was generally not clean andsmelly and noisy

Review 82:The wi-fi is not very good. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Review 83:Almost all the service of the hotel is very good.

Review 84:TV chanles not so Door lock

Review 85:loaction staff food clean fast check in and out Sky Bar and resturant

Review 86:No A/C Very Bad room very noisy No lights no wifi very old room not even one star hotel.

Review 87:The disco bar was Very nice and the staff Very friendly

Review 88:the aircondition was noisy

Review 89:location, clean, comfortable.

Review 90:The shower was small, the main door would not open/close properly. The door to the cabinet where the safe is kept was broken.

Review 91:The location was good and some of the staff were very helpful. The live music on the top floor was brilliant as were the bar staff.

Review 92:When I was chic out I bay more than the price !!!! He said this is for a Tax , although I booked by online booking.com It was 281 Eur But I paid in the reception 298.50 Eur .

Review 93:I like the location .

Review 94:One think I dident like and mad me feel leave the hotel. One staff work at disk recipition name Laila she's very unhelpful and disrespect girl. I saw her first time in this hotel because I been in this hotel before. If I no come back this hotel again its because of her.

Review 95:Location is good and design of rooms

Review 96:We were given rooms on the 5th floor below a noisy night club. The staff were not sympathetic when we complained the following morning.

Review 97:Evening meal was very good especially the desserts.

Review 98:First, it was one of the ''highlights'' in the page onbooking.com, that the rooms were isolated for noise, which we found wasnot true. It was noisy not just from outside traffic, which would beunderstandable, but also from neighbouring rooms. Not good. Also, weexperienced that the staff didn't like us pointing it out. Second, shortly after arriving, we had to show our marriage-lisence, since myhusband is moroccan, and then we had to pay an additional fee of 7euros. Third, it was not the cleanest of rooms. We did buy this''on sale'', but if the real price is paid by anyone, itis way too much! Not worth it!!!

Review 99:Was close to everything

Review 100:We stayed for one night while stopping over in marrakech. We thought it would be better to stay out of the busy medina and in a hotel. Honestly, this was a mistake. The front desk gave me a hard time about my booking... Something about needing to see my credit card to pay even though I had paid in full online. It was a bit sketchy and there was something about it I just didn't trust. The hotel is dingy and it more of a hang out for people who like the bar scene than a good hotel. There was a smell in the room too that I guess they tried to cover up by burning scented candles in the hallways. I would never recommend this place! There are so many better places to stay that are way more worth your money!!! Never EVER again.

Review 101:Nothing!!!

Review 102:The location on the main road , it to nosy by the heaveast trafic in Marrakech , is mainly for party animal one night or two max , close to all the actions that some poeple look for .

Review 103:For me the staff are friendly .

Review 104:There were aspects of the decor that let the room down and could have been easily updated, for example the chipped and peeling paint on the window in the bathroom. The shower head in the bathroom was placed at a very low angle and you had to hold the shower over you which resulted in the bathroom being flooded. The minibar was not working and we tried to phone down to Reception several times to ask for a bottle opener and the phone just rang out. Finally we ordered a wake up call for 4am which we never received. It was lucky we had set our own alarms as we would have missed our flight.

Review 105:Hotel was central and nicely decorated but there were certain aspects of the decor which were nice.

Review 106:Everything was very bad. Buffet Breakfast is horrible. Rooms are very bad they don't look like they are in the pictures at all. Swimming pool very durty Pigeons were swimming inside. Reception staff are cheaters they always asked me to pay more money that what it should be. hosekeeping was ok. The SPA was close all the time. As I am a hotel employee since 2001 and understand that some hotels have poor services but I would strongly recommend you NOT to go to that hotel at all.

Review 107:Nothing at all

Review 108:Form over function. Looks good at first glance but not fitted out as well as most other morrocan hotels/riads weve stayed in. Showing signs of wear and tear. Wifi wasnt working properly. The shower was pretty useless as it didnt attach to the wall and water was only lukewarm.

Review 109:location and the rooftop sky bar. friendly helpful staff comfortable large bed

Review 110:Card machine to pay for hotel room not working - had to wait and go through several attempts during checkout..

Review 111:Location is good. Hotel modern. Breakfast needs more variety for this price paid.. Orange juices are provided when you start breaky, but have to ask for subsequent...

Review 112:Noisy at night. Bad service. The reception person promised to pick my luggage at the airport that delay coming due to transfer and he collected the charge. But he did nothing and many excuses. Finally I had to go to the airport and took the luggage by myself.

Review 113:convenient location

Review 114:Mixing bills, I.e bills were added to our room which was signed by different person

Review 115:Staff were friendly, the hotel was clean. However there was one receptionist who was a bit confusing, we kept asking for ironing board every day and she keep saying she will send it to the room and we never got it. When we asked to one of her colleagues he told us they don't actually have it at the hotel

Review 116:Very bad experience ...I ll never reserve in this hotel ... It's alland not hotel 4 * .. I reserve for 3 nights and paid and I stayed only 1night and left ..!!

Review 117:Pool is frequented by pigeons! Breakfast wasn't great. Noise fromstreet only died down at 4am! Price for drinks at rooftop bar wasridiculous. €5 for a can of coke!

Review 118:Rooftop pool and bar offers great views of Marrakech. Spa was lovelyand relaxing

Review 119:A bit noisy for light sleepers so take some ear plugs. Friends in the Moroccon themed room said it was a lot quieter.

Review 120:Great rooms, we had the 70s room which has heaps of space. The staff we're very friendly and helpfull and the location is great. Lots of restaurants nearby and you can walk to Jardins Majorelle

Review 121:One of the employer at the reception was very unpolite (the oldest one) Hammam is not included in the rate I thought it was better

Review 122:Breakfast on the beautiful roof, room with balcony, position in the new area of the city full of restaurant far from the caos of the medina

Review 123:The shower was weird. It was a hand shower low in a bath tub so difficult to shower w/o getting water all over the floor.

Review 124:The rooms were clean and spacious. The AC was a must have in Marrakech. The staff was really nice. Overall this hotel is good value for the money spent.

Review 125:The swimming pool is really pretty and its location very nice but it is small and you hardly find a long chair to relax around it!

Review 126:Rooms are nice and clean! The terrace on the roof is awesome! The bar at night is really cosy with nice music!

Review 127:Great hotel in the heart of Marrakech. Lovely, helpful staff who always were around to help, give advice, change up currency, arrange taxis and excursions. Hotel interior was modern, clean and tidy. Rooms were spacious and housekeeping kept them spotless for us daily.

Review 128:La Brasserie has a terible service, slow and unprepared. Too expensivefor the bad food. Unprepared staff. Slow Service. We had to change ourbedroom because of a water problems in the bedroom. We booked a massageprecisely for two persons at the same time and when we arrived thesecond massagist have left. The swimming pool is small and there is nosun on it after 12h

Review 129:Good location. Clean.

Review 130:Morning breakfast small area and poor and small selection of food

Review 131:Junior sweet was very good and staff very helpfull

Review 132:all ok

Review 133:Not clean

Review 134:Staff is very friendly giving all the information I needed. The hotel asitself is pretty nice & comfortable enough!
