Reviews for Palais De Fès Dar Tazi
Review 1:I loved the place even before arriving there, with the warm reception of Ghita over the phone. Our hostess Samira was amazing and was ever so willing to assist all the time. She definately made the difference with our stay . Bless her!! The palais was beautiful with the intricacies of its architecture . Worth the stay.
Review 2:nothing but you need to be able to walk; a lot of stairs
Review 3:Very friendly and helpful staff, inhouse restaurant serving excellent breakfast and dinner, very authentic morrocoan kitchen. Atmosphere in old but very bueatiful restored palace.
Review 4:quit some stairs to the terrasse (esp. w small kids) however the view is worth it.
Review 5:Very nice, warm welcoming atmosphere. very good service, a lot of history in that building, beautifully renovated.
Review 6:It's unique place where everyone who works there is eager to please and to serve without expecting anything from the guests. This place is just perfect and breathtaking.
Review 7:English children's television would have been nice especially as we had a very little one which meant we had to retire to our room early. Toilet in room was very small and the only window faced a wall which meant we had no natural light.
Review 8:Staff were fabulous, friendly and great with the children. Hotel room and facilities were spotless. Food in hotel restaurant was pricey but delicious.
Review 9:Leaving!
Review 10:Palatial surroundings, late breakfasts, amazing bar/restaurant and the best live Moroccan music every night in the bar! Very friendly staff who could not do more to assist!
Review 11:We travelled from the UK to Rabat and then Fes. We stayed at this hotel in Fes. The staff were so helpful and friendly. They made us feel as though we were at home for sure. The owner of the hotel was extremely nice and kind together with his daughter and staff. Perfect hotel to stay in, in a perfect location. The hotel was extremely clean. Great restaurant and live entertainment with brilliant views all around. Would definitely use this hotel again and definitely recommend it to everyone. Wifi was brilliant.
Review 12:We were very well welcomed by all the staff. They were always trully concerned with our well being making our stay in Palais de Fes perfect and memorable. We will definitely return! One of the best places in Morocco!
Review 13:Beautiful place, very friendly pleasing people, great food, live Moroccan music, great view of the old city It's an authentic Moroccan experience, my kids loved it!
Review 14:Bewind an unsuspicious wall it was hidden a beatifull and well decorated morocan palace, full of terraces with great views over the old medina. All the staff was very kind and the food delicious - try a great dinner there, you want regreat!
Review 15:the room on the top have no connection of wifi and the air conditioner is hot and we were promised to get another room in the next day and that never happened
Review 16:friendliness of workers
Review 17:Stairs to room were difficult to negotiate. Room location was confusing until you got used to it. Some construction noise, but understandable since renovation of square is in progress.
Review 18:Location near Medina. Roof top restaurant view was perfect. Restaurant staff were excellent. All in all the Riad personnel were exceptional, always ready to help.
Review 19:Breakfast lacked protein... mostly breads.
Review 20:Outstanding, service-oriented staff - very friendly professionals. Flexible to our every need. First-rate people. Unique décor in palace was amazing. View and access to the Medina can't be topped.
Review 21:The bedrooms were a little small, but didn't really matter as didn't spend much time in them.
Review 22:Location great, just on border of medina. Perfect base to explore. Can still get a taxi to the riad, so don't have to schlep bags far. Palace is really beautiful - grand foyer, lovely terraces. The staff are extremely friendly. They were very kind to our 3 children, which made a big impact on the enjoyment for the whole family.
Review 23:Three Belgian Girls on a road trip:We came by car and the staff came to pick us up at a meeting point because we could not find it. The welcome by the staff was very friendly, we felt welcome for sure. We arrived a bit late, but they showed us the rooms and offered us a drink with some little things to eat.. The room was nice, clean and had airco which was perfect! And it was quite. We had a great guide recommended by the hotel. breakfast on the terras had beautifull view. greta place to come during Ramadan. As it is very quite.
Review 24:Just make sure you're ok with climbing stairs. Also, privacy can be an issue in some rooms, as any noise can be heard from outside.
Review 25:The family that runs the riad are very kind, generous, and helpful. The riad's lobby looks very beautiful. The location is as good as it can get.
Review 26:The only inconvenience might be the slow wifi and nothing but carbs for breakfast.
Review 27:The hotel is run by the local family and we felt very welcomed and taken care of. Every single person from the manager to a cleaner was very polite and friendly. They tried to accomodate every our need or wish. The room was kept very clean and tidy. The view from the terraces is amazing and allowed us to enjoy the city's life and atmosphere even when we were resting after a day of sightseeing. The palace itself is an excuisite example of the local architecture straight from the One thousand and one night's. We were free to wander around and admire every detail. We received any advice, help and support we needed.
Review 28:Beware of unofficial guides outside of the riad.
Review 29:A lovely riad in the center of Fez. Staff very friendly and willing to assist in all your travellers needs. Food very good.
Review 30:The owner and staff made us feel like we were right at home, even though we were experiencing the wonders of a palace. If you already live in a palace, perhaps you don't need to stay here, but if you are like us, and don't live in a palace, you can experience a palace atmosphere right here.
Review 31:the noise until late at night...3-4am!-from the square in front of the hotel. The Riad was supposedly better known as a restaurant, but the evening meal was fairly standard and expensive.
Review 32:the decor, the helpful front desk staff, the breakfast, the location, the fabulous view of the medina from the roof terrace.
Review 33:The restaurant was quite good even though quite expensive for Morocco, but it was shocking how fast the restaurant waiters cleared the table with 2/3 of our food unfinished. Obviously we were there too late...
Review 34:Wonderful design, especially the lobby and terrace. The girl who hosted us was very nice, we felt welcome. If we didn't have the smallest room of the hotel, we'd probably feel like in 1001 nights stories.
Review 35:great view from roof terrace very good food, but expensive for maroccan standards, very friendly staff. Because we left early in the morning, they prepared us breakfast to go.
Review 36:I like the warm and friendly reception we received. The personal care and attention given to myself, my husband and my adult daughter. The riad/palace was beautiful, the breakfast was great, watching and filming the sunset from the roof was perfect. And SAMEERAH the manager made sure our every need was met while we were there. We came in very late one night from an all day tour arranged by the hotel, she had the kitchen prepare us homemade soup!!!Really.....I loved this place and I loved Morrocco.
Review 37:The hotel was very poor and the personel was always busy or not here!150 euro per night for such a little dirty room " suite" insuch a poor country is really expensive, also the restaurant wasexpensive, one tajine for 30 euro is the big Scam, if u go outside u caneat the best food for this sum. I used to go to morrocco min twice ayear so I know what the real prices and the fake are. I do not recommendyou this hotel.
Review 38:Fes.
Review 39:+ food in the restaurant rather overpriced
Review 40:+ beauty of location and facilities (the roof terrace with a view over the old medina!!!) + great breakfast + very friendly and helpful personal
Review 41:It is an old palace, not a hotel. Up and down small stairways to anywhere i the hotel. Some stairways not lit at night and the food in restaurant was not good and overpriced. I felt trapped in our room. It gave an accurate feel of living in a palace from long ago. The main woman we dealt with was excellent but others were not so great.
Review 42:The room was pretty tiny for three people. If you have difficulty walking, this may not work as there are many stairs - which was not a problem for us.
Review 43:This hotel is perfect for a visit to the old medina - right on the edge and easy to find. Beautiful hotel with dining area overlooking the old city - call to prayer at dinner is heard from many mosques. The staff was really friendly!
Review 44:No window from our room (just one into a small ventilation shaft). Also there was a very bad smell from the plumbing.
Review 45:The terrace area is a wonderful place to relax, have a drink and unwind while looking across the old city. The breakfast is nothing short of amazing.
Review 46:A little distant parking...
Review 47:This hotel's manager Samira is very kindly and friendly person. Hotel's location is legendary! Good decoration. Good view and delicious breakfast...
Review 48:The only thing...the mattress of our bed (we stayed at Yakhouta room) was very hard!, regardless that I had a great sleep ;)
Review 49:Is great to have such a fantastic stay in this wonderful and pintoresque city. Staff is fantastic, always willing to help in everything from Abdul receiving us at our arrival in Ercif Square to the lovely lady with a beautiful smile who cleaned our room. Specially grateful to Samira and all the helpful information and contacts she gave us for our stay. The Riad is magical, beautifully decorated transports you to ancient times. The breakfast was incredibly big and delicious and the food for dinner (always with live music) was homemade and tasteful. Perfect! I definitely recommend this place for a wonderful stay in Fes.
Review 50:Continental breakfast, lots of it, but boring. Suggestions: Offer good coffee, improve shower with curtain to avoid flooding of entire bath.
Review 51:Extremely friendly staff. Since the room offered was too tiny we were upgraded to a small suite in the sister riad "Maison Verte". Thanks very much!
Review 52:All the staff members were very kind. The place was beautiful (and clean) and the view from the terrace was amazing. The restourant was quite expensive.
Review 53:I didn't like that I never got a reply to my email asking for a receipt. The reason I asked was also that I had the very strong suspicion to have been charged too much. Also, in the winter the rooms are not properly heated.
Review 54:I liked the palace, the food and the owner, a very nice guy.
Review 55:The stairs that we have to climb which nothing can be done. However it is very beautiful palace.
Review 56:The location, the hospitality especially for Samira who has been very helpful.
Review 57:Wifi accessible from the rooms but not strong enough to use for much (to be fair, the hotel description said 'free wifi in public areas')
Review 58:The property was stunning, the staff cared for us like personal friends (arranged all our guides and excursions), the food was the best we had in Fes, and the view from the terrace - oh my. Located just at one of the entrances to the medina, so you have easy access but can take taxis if you want and avoid the dark maze of alleys at night.
Review 59:Amazing staff! I've never been so well threated like in this hotel. Mostly woman, they would do everything they could to help us, even offer the hotel driver to take us to dinner. They provided us a good guide for the medina, and made us a picknick bag to take for our trip, which was really early in the morning.
Review 60:Our first room Maria was noisy, dogs at night, we were moved to a suite which was much better.
Review 61:The Palais De Fez was easy to get to as they supply transport Hasan the driver was very helpful. During our stay all the staff were very helpful and really nothing was too much trouble. on a rainy day we went to Volubilis a Roman site fantastic place, again Hasan drove us there. The rooms are very pleasant and comfortable. The view from the restaurant is very good.
Review 62:Wifi did not work in the room most of the time. We were split over the guide they arranged for us. The medina in Fes is no joke, and I recommend a guide, but just be aware part of it is going to involve being taken to shops where the sales tactics can be overwhelming.
Review 63:We were driving around Morocco and had arrived in Fes after a grueling day of driving all the way from Mergouza (on the edge of the Sahara). I followed Google maps to the location it had and managed to find street parking (you pay the attendant and it becomes on his honor to protect your car...in the U.S. this would be a scam, but it is for real in Morocco). I was tired and off guard when someone asked me where I was going and I mistakenly told him. He started leading us on and took us to a different hotel. I tried to find the hotel on the map, but Google had it all wrong (also, my phone was not working for some reason). We ended up at a restaurant that called the hotel and they sent someone over. Not only did the gentleman come get us, dispersed the youth who thought he should get paid for getting us lost, after we got to the hotel, he went back to the car and made sure it was properly protected and nothing would happen to it. That was the first hour. It only got better after that. The staff were amazing. The restaurant, though a bit pricey by Moroccan standards, is off the chart. The full service menu is amazing. Ordering only 2 for 3 people we were still stuffed (and this includes a 19-year old with a voracious appetite). The view from the restaurant over the medina is priceless. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are truly palacial in size and feel.
Review 64:Amazing location, visited everywhere we wanted to with ease. the staff were so attentive, friendly and so eager to help. The breakfast was incredible and so fresh. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The hotel sorted out an amazing guide for us and gave us restaurant recommendations and even sent a member of staff with us to show us the way and back. All in all a fantastic trip made by the hotel and its wonderful staff, I would love to visit again and anyone looking at visiting Fez should stay here, it will make your trip.
Review 65:A bit expensive Dinner. Too loud music during the Dinner.
Review 66:We could feel at home. Extremely kind and hospitable staff. Beautiful historical building. Excellent panoramic view of the medina. Perfect location.
Review 67:- Abdul and all the staff were really kind and flexible to any of our exsigence. -From the breakfast terrace and the restaurant you can enjoy a great view of the Medina. -Tour guides recommended from the Hotel were good, safe and cheap.
Review 68:Meryem Room -the bathroom is divided in two: on one side of the bedroom, the shower and sink; on the other side, the toilet . the toilet is small , your knees are squashed up against the toilet door . Very inconvenient! -sewer smell coming from a bathroom sink;
Review 69:- the staff cares really about the clients, especially Samira, always friendly and with useful advise. -the location and the palace atmosphere of the building; -excellent food at the restaurant but a bit expensive;
Review 70:Too many stairs to get up to the room. The bathroom is divided in two: on one side of the bedroom, we find the shower and sink; on the other side, the toilet. Very inconvenient! Don't accept the official guide offer at the hotel. We paid 250dhn to be taken mostly into shops where we were extremely pressured into buying things. On the other hand, we had an amazing experience with an "unnoficial guide" we met in the medina - he took us to incredible places tourists don't usually get to see and we got in close touch with their culture. Unfortunatelly, we noticed part of the staff became much less friendly with us once they saw us with the unnoficial guide.
Review 71:The breakfast was fantastic. The building, the view, the room, decorations - everything was wonderful. The girl Nadjya (we think that's her name), who served us breakfast, was very sweet and kind. The guy Issa was extremely helpful as well. Samira was also very nice!
Review 72:The location and the palace atmosphere of the building was amazing and of course the brakfasts, the evening meals and the live music accompany it, The last but not least, The hotel manager and the gorgeous hotel personel wake up at 04.00 a.m. for serving the breakfast for four people and to say goodbye..!!
Review 73:steps!
Review 74:location was excellent to old Medina, restaurants, staff was incredibly helpful and spoke English very well! Ryad was beautiful: rooms were lovely, restaurant on top was worth the climb for the view; servers were wonderful in preparing food my daughter would eat and preparing dishes for us without meat
Review 75:The guide booked by the hotel was working for commissions on sales in the souk
Review 76:Incredible atmosphere in this old palace, stunning views from the terrace, excellent food at the restaurant, helpful staff
Review 77:No elevator in this hotel which may cause difficulties for senior guests.
Review 78:Warm welcome from Rita the manager when we reached the place. Nice welcome drink of Moroccon mint tea.
Review 79:The riad was tastefully decorated in traditional moroccan style with attention to detail. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived we were served complimentary mint tea and cakes. The breakfast was excellent. So much variety and beautifully presented-this really set us up for the day. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace - magnificent views. I would definitely recommend this riad.
Review 80:The tour guide which was recommended by the house was horrible and made us as prey for the shops aiming for his percentage from what we buy
Review 81:Almost every thing
Review 82:There are a lot of narrow stair cases with extra big steps and without rails. This was good exercise but could be problematic for disabled or frail people.
Review 83:The staff was gracious and accommodating. All of our needs were attended to like a four star hotel. The Palais dates to the 1200s and has a beautiful ambience and yet is modernized for comfort. We had our best Moroccan dinner there. It is inside the medina on one of the only streets with cars (the road was added about 30 years ago). We enjoyed the rooftop views of the medina. The mint tea was the best we had and the staff kindly taught me how to make it. They called a good taxi for us (hard to come by).
Review 84:I didn't realize how many stairs would be there and my mother has a bad knee. But it is understandable because the building is centuries old.
Review 85:Beautiful. Great hospitality. The old Morocco you imagine from the movies.
Review 86:Loved everything about our stay. Great staff, location, room. My favourite part was the almond filled croissant at breakfast, it was the best I had.
Review 87:Everyone is super accommodating and nice. They go above and beyond to ensure your requests are fulfilled.
Review 88:Dark rooms. No hairdryer.
Review 89:Nice position and architecture, at the entrance of Medina and really relaxing patio.
Review 90:Noisy rooms and location
Review 91:Kind and friendly service
Review 92:Good location, central but quiet. Amazing sea view!! The apartment was cleaned daily
Review 93:Pure excellance!
Review 94:It was all good. Could not have asked for better service or facilities.
Review 95:A beautiful hotel with superb staff and service.
Review 96:Beautiful Riad, excellent position and very nice staff.
Review 97:Great place, great staff, great location! Very welcoming.
Review 98:Beautiful riad, friendly staff and owner. Very well located.
Review 99:Ospitality. Terrace with panoramica view on the medina as well sell as the hall.
Review 100:Room very small
Review 101:Beautiful lobby and great staff

Review 104:Nothing!!!!
Review 105:The staff!! The view!! the food!!! they even organised a guide to show us round the city !! incredible place , DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!
Review 106:Small cubicle for a toilet
Review 107:Amazing view. Calm oasis in madness of fes. Yummy biscuits.
Review 108:When we returned for one nights stay at the end of our trip we were welcomed back like family. All staff were so helpful and kind.
Review 109:Not much.

Review 117:decoration and food
Review 118:stairs
Review 119:Restaurant, music and food! View excelent. Picturesque.
Review 120:Amazing place and decoration, super polite staff, delicious breakfast and dinner, central location - what would you like more for a weekend in Fes?!
