Reviews for Caesars Windsor Hotel and Casino
Review 1:I had my 11 yr old boy during our stay and access to hotel from parking building had to be through the street and it was hard for the kid because it was too cold that time. Would appreciate an indoor access to the hotel from parking building for families with minors.
Review 2:Place was clean.
Review 3:Gym & pool facilities closed 2 hours earlier than advertised, long long walk from parking to the check-in and very long walk from check-in to the room while dragging luggage. Staff was not helpful at all.
Review 4:Comfortable room, good pub entertainment
Review 5:The hotel staff is horrible! The front desk, concierge, wait staff, everyone I spoke with over the phone prior to our trip, extremely rudeand made me feel like I was wasting their time. To top it off therewasn't a shuttle to the Red Wings game even though I was assuredthere was. It was a 10 minute walk to the cities shuttle, not bad, except we were told they ran continuously... They ran every Half Hourand we missed the one we needed and with traffic coming back to Windsorwe were very late to the game. We were late getting moving since theirbusiness center was down and we had to have the staff come down toconfirm the printer was broken (giant out of order sign stating to callext. Xxx) since we needed to print out our tickets we were assured couldbe printed no problem. After "confirming" the printer wasbroken(with sign and flashing error screens) they allowed us to printthem at the concierge desk. That took almost 45 minutes to sort out.Bottom line is I'd never spend another night at this hotel.
Review 6:The casino was nice, the setting, the valet was included. Very nicefinishes but that's something you expect from Cesar's casinos ingeneral so I wasn't surprised.
Review 7:It's a long confusing walk to/from your room the first time.
Review 8:Nice spacious room. Interesting surrounding with the casino and entertainment. Free valet parking service. Great view of Detroit.
Review 9:Charged a $12/day "resort fee" at the front desk -- was not notified of this fee when I booked.
Review 10:Great location. Very clean and comfortable room. Nice fitness center and pool.
Review 11:The scale is a little overwhelming, and the restaurant options could be better. There is a supposedly excellent steak house, Nero's, but it is closed on Tuesdays (the night I was there).
Review 12:Best hotel in Windsor. Very comfortable room with a great view.
Review 13:All staff were very courteous and helpful. Very clean and well kept environment, including gym-pool area. Multi choice for eating areas. Free parking. Seperate towers for adults only & family.
Review 14:Having to go through the casino to get to the health club/pool was a bit inconvenient
Review 15:Lots of great amenities, the pool and hot tub were clean and lovely, the room was super comfortable.
Review 16:Toilet required 4 or 5 flushes to do the job. Mattress and pillows below normal comfort level of other hotels I stay in. Service was very slow in Taza restaurant
Review 17:New facility. Bright and spacious.
Review 18:Registration desk was too far from Forum Tower rooms, walking through the casino was confusing, this distance and roiute was also a problem when using the valet service, though, if we were in the Augustus Tower it probably would have been equally tiring to go to the restaurants and casino and pool/exercise area - a more direct route would have been better although walking through the casino in either case probably increases revenue from the machines, eh?
Review 19:Location and facilities were excellent, non smoking casino was great, good selection of games
Review 20:The front desk staff made no sense and did not know what they were doing. I was told I would get $20.00 back if I showed. Rewards card, but I got $8 back instead. There explanation made no sense. After about 1 hour I gave up and left. My time was wasted 1 hour of checking in and 1 hour out. I was not aware of the $150 security deposit...that was a huge surprise. I feel like this was more of a money sucker?
Review 21:I liked the beds.
Review 22:Walk from self park garage to check in, then to room was way to far with luggage. Possibly adding a separate check in area for the new tower.
Review 23:View of the water. Concert area was excellent, came home and already purchased tickets for a January show.
Review 24:The layout of the casino and the hotel registration could have been more conducive to guests - too spread out from where you had to park and walk to register
Review 25:Loved that the casino was non-smoking. Staff was excellent - very friendly and all had a great sense of humor. The Vu Bar was a wonderful place to relax at the end the evening
Review 26:Liked nothing about my stay in fact checked out and left to go to the comfort inn,at least they appreciate my business.was also not offered breakfast. In fact paid for my own.
Review 27:Ithe valet staff was very friendly. Front desk Clerc was very rude unfriendly. The hot tub was cold .was told could not pay for my room with credit card.was not given a receipt no resolve to any of my issues.was completely ignored. In my opinion no more than a 4 star dive motel
Review 28:There was not one staff person in sight when I drove to the front door--including no valet parking attendant. I drove around the entire complex twice before settling on the self-parking facility. Once inside, it is necessary to pull your bags about 1/4 mile across the carpeted casino rooms to find the lobby--no other way to get there. The route is circuitous, including several different elevators. At the front desk, when I mentioned these problems, the receptionist sought to disprove my observations until she was stopped by a manager. There was someone videotaping the registration area that day for some reason. When I asked about it, I was told it was "private," whatever that was supposed to mean. When it came time to check out the next day, I called down for help with my bags. No one came for 15 minutes. Another call invoked a false promise of help for another 10 minutes Finally, I took my bags back on the magical mystery tour through the casino to my car. The hotel is improperly designed, and, overall, quite cold to the guest. I think that since the profits come from gambling, the management simply doesn't care that much to provide a positive hotel experience.
Review 29:The food was okay, and the room was commodious.
Review 30:NO BASKET FOR TRASH IN ROOM . NO LIGHT SHOE IN ROOM OR BATH SHOE NO WATER IN ROOM NO BATH ROBE .
Review 31:LOCATION AND EVERYTHING AROUND AND NEAR BORDER TO US. AND WINDSOR TUNNEL
Review 32:Room itself can offer more amenities, can stand to be upgraded as it is dated; was a bit disappointing. To compare, stayed at a Four Points by Sheraton a day later in Toronto, and the rooms was better!
Review 33:Connected to casino, restaurants, which are very nice.
Review 34:My bathroom was disgusting not sure if it was dirt or black mold. Came in late from traveling. Went right to bed at about midnight. In the morning noticed that the bathroom shower grout was black. Was given 100 and $50 back on my room. Wanted a total refund. Can not recommend Caesar Windsor to anyone. Totally unclean for a five star hotel. Would rather stay at a motel 8. At least the bathrooms would be clean there.
Review 35:Did not know the walk from self parking would be so long, will use valet from here on in I had my 83 year old Mom with me. My mistake no better for next time.
Review 36:the long walk carrying luggage through the casino to reception, the shower water was very hard, as Caesars is upscale, we expected actual glasses in the room, not plastic glasses
Review 37:our room was clean and comfortable, the casino was impressive, a Legends waiter named Joe was very good, as was Mary Ann at reception
Review 38:Artist cafe, a couple of staff somewhat unhelpful although servers were excellent.
Review 39:Restaurants were a great variety. Staff extremely friendly and helpful all the way through. Concert seats, tickets, casino, parking all very good. Large place and fun to see all aspects. City within a city.
Review 40:Important to some and not to others but would have appreciated more upgrades technology in the room such as USB ports for charging. Creamer and sugars were missing.
Review 41:Went to see a show so we loved that it was all self contained. Music venue, food and stay.
Review 42:Carpet everywhere it was backingbreak to push my mother around the casino especially up to the hotel just awful. There should be some parts of the floor tiled for wheelchair ease.
Review 43:Being on waterfront; no smoking casino is great.
Review 44:No microwave, had to wait a long time for bags to get to room, until I had to get it myself. Valet parking staff seems like vultures, they try too hard....
Review 45:Room coffee maker despicable, 6 am riser, good to go early to thepool/exercise but no COFFEE[starbucks opens around 7 am but nocoffee while they set up!!!!] most people like to start their day with agood cup of coffee!! Get with it!!
Review 46:They did get us a room but claimed that our reservation from Booking.comdid not come thru to Caesars, they would honour the price on chen'tknow ck out; took my confirmation sheet....and then on check-out theprice was of course higher that our booking....and the staff didnt knowanything about this check-in deal.
Review 47:Parking was a problem ; hard to find entrance to hotel on arrival; old front entrance no longer used. Overall ; problem with layout of added buildings.
Review 48:Nice rooms
Review 49:I didn't like how far the walk was from the room to the gambling area. Also, other hotels I have been in had a more comfortable bed. Also, long walk from the parking garage to the rooms. It felt like I was walking all night and it was uncomfortable in heels.
Review 50:Bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was overpriced and not very good. We don't gamble by it was a nice experience.
Review 51:Amazing staff. The pool and hot tub were amazing.
Review 52:Requested high floor and river view. Didn't get any of those. First time I've been asked for $100 deposit for the room in case you use any extra services. They should let people know about this on the website. They came to clean the room at 9 am and after we told them we don't need it they kept coming 2 other times after that in small intervals. If the check out time is at 11 am at least wait to clean the room after that time. Not too happy with the stay overall. Good thing we booked the room on a good deal price otherwise I wouldn't pay the regular full price for that service.
Review 53:The room was spacious
Review 54:would have been nice if bkfst was complimentary. Bkfst in Artisans Cafe was pricey.
Review 55:convenience of staying right at casino.clean, quiet..lots of entertainment.
Review 56:Most the dealers had poor attitudes. We were only pleased with one of the many dealers we had all night.
Review 57:Very helpful staff, we were looking for some local bars and they showed us exactly where to go.
Review 58:The room is very far from valet parking. You will need to have comfy shoes to get from valet to check in to your room. I was on a business trip with early meetings and to get from the room to collecting my car at valet took anywhere between 15-20 mins. If you're there for leisure it's not an issue but if you're on a timeline it can be a nuisance if your room was in a far tower.
Review 59:Clean and spacious room. Great Steakhouse in the hotel.
Review 60:It can be a hassle crossing the US/Canadian border but not this trip, it was very easy.
Review 61:The Hotel is beautiful along with the Casino part as well. This hotel was very clean at a very good price.
Review 62:We were told by hotel staff that we would not need passports just identification. Consequently, we had difficulty in traveling to and from Detroit. We were there for the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. We had to locate other lodging in a hurry.
Review 63:facilities and staff, very good,. Location was good. Our members loved Windsor.
Review 64:If you want to avoid the $11 resort fee, you have to sign up for a Caesars Total Rewards card and bring it back to the front desk. If you're planning to gamble, it's not that big a deal. Cheap pillows. No free breakfast, but you get $10 food voucher if you sign up for Total Rewards card.
Review 65:The layout of the casino resort was very nice. Many food options and readonably priced especially when paying in U.S. dollars. Adjacent to 6KM linear park along the Detroit River. Great place to walk and view people, monuments and gardens. Easy access to the Art Gallery of Windsor. Cut over a couple of blocks and walk through downtown. Much needs to be done to improve the choices downtown, but there are some gems along the way. I the facility, it was great that the hotel lobby is also the entrance to the Colosseum. We were there to see Wierd Al Yankivic - very convenient!
Review 66:My husband found the noise in the casino too much for him and I on the other hand enjoyed it.a
Review 67:We were there to visit family and it was convient. Hard to find entrance to hotel.
Review 68:The long walk to the room
Review 69:The room was clean and spacious. The food excellent. Two floors of smokeless Casino playing was the icing on the cake. Staff were very friendly
Review 70:No free wifi and breakfast as in booking.com/long walking distances with luggages via casino + no helpfull security and no variety in restaurants and close early and late check out not flexible.
Review 71:location, rooms and gym, bar
Review 72:Wi-Fi not up to par, bed pillows nothing to write home about, viewsucked big time in comparison to last year, when we stayed at the hotelwith a view of the Detroit River (not exactly luxurious)
Review 73:We liked the swimming pool
Review 74:They charged a suite price for a standard room. The tub was shallow and tiny, the room amenities such as hair dryer and and shower products were cheap.
Review 75:The view from the room.
Review 76:I was traveling by myself with kids ages 7&6. We were only allowed in one restaurant within Caesars and were not allowed to use the pool. I knew about this ahead of time and the location more than made up for it, but I couldn't call this hotel 'family friendly' which it likely doesn't want to be.
Review 77:The location on the riverfront is excellent with beautiful views. Roght across the street are walking/biking paths, huge rocks to climb on (my kids LOVED this) and there was a kids park along the route. You can also walk to many other dining /drinking options. I LOVED that there was a recycling bin in each room!
Review 78:Pillows sucked! Room was average. Pool average and hotel room service extremely over priced. Bring your own beverages but make sure you hide them because hotel staff will take it from you if they see it.
Review 79:Beds were comfy and staff was friendly. They also have nice bars and restaurants.
Review 80:We were put in a smoking room despite booking a non-smoking room specifically. There were no non-smoking rooms available. They blamed it on booking.com's rooms, that were allegedly all smoking. On a positive note: they put an ozone machine in the room to purify the air, which helped but didn't get rid of the stink.
Review 81:Fantastic food at reasonable prices
Review 82:Wee were told that our nonsmoking bedroom wasn't available they onlyhad a smoking king available with no compensation stated we requested asmoking room we were just livid with their professionalism to correctthis major problem that we had planned over 45 days before this event tosee a concert at this venue would love for someone to get back with mein this situation asap to explain this whole ordeal
Review 83:A few more informal food choices would be nice.
Review 84:Everything! Drove from Minneapolis to see Fab Four concert. Location and view great. Loved the river walk.
Review 85:Had to walk through the casino with my bags to check in. There is free parking across the street but if you are a woman traveling alone, it is a bit scary to park and then get to the hotel.
Review 86:Close to downtown. Excellent location
Review 87:We did not have a bad experience but we did have quite a time finding our way around to our room etc. but staff was very helpful
Review 88:Liked the feel of a Las Vegas style casino, gambling, the slots, was the main reason we travelled to Windsor
Review 89:the people here seem far more interested in getting people in the casino than than the hotel. Valet parking was very difficult to find and the self park worse. Of five entrances only one was available to me. And you have to drive around and guess which one that is. I ended up parking off site and walked with luggage. Then try to find hotel registration. This place is designed to get you lost in the casino.
Review 90:big spacious room. Great view of Detroit.
Review 91:Thermostat was wonky. Bed needs more substantial duvet- was much too thin for comfort. Phone in room was unplugged and not functioning once plugged in.
Review 92:Room was very clean. Great view of Detroit skyline.
Review 93:A little confusing trying to find the hotel from the self parking garage. Glass of wine and beer is NOT cheap.
Review 94:Everything under one roof. Lots of choices for dining. Coliseum seating is very good.
Review 95:The internet speed is slow and disconnects often. The furniture is little dated and needs a refresher.
Review 96:The view from my room on the 26th floor was breathtaking. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were very swift. The food at the Market Buffet and Neros Steakhouse was excellent.
Review 97:They gave us a smoking room and I did not request one. They said they had no other rooms available. They said it was the web site that I booked with.
Review 98:Wifi was very hard to connect to in our room. Pillows could have been better. Bathroom would be nice with two sinks.
Review 99:Decor and hotel with casino. Very nice.
Review 100:Having to walk so far from registration to elevators for Forum Tower. I'm older!
Review 101:Eric handled my reservation and he was very helpful and pleasant. Playing the slots of course was fun. Being able to get take-out to eat in the room. Valet parking.
Review 102:I was really upset that we had to stay in smoking rooms even though I booked non-smoking rooms through booking.com!! Also really hated that my 15 year old daughter was not able to access any of the hotel amenities, couldn't enjoy any of the restaurants/coffee shops near the casino or the pool.
Review 103:The staff was so friendly and helpful. This was my first stay at Caesars in Windsor and the size of it was a little overwhelming. We were in town for 3 nights as my daughter was competing in a gymnastics meet. My elderly parents had their own room and on the Saturday night the room next to them was filled with young people partying and making excessive noise and I mean really excessive. There were so many people that the overflow was in the hallway. We called the front desk once and within minutes hotel security was on it and removed all of the people from the room. Also really liked that within steps from the hotel we could access walking paths and great restaurants. Took advantage of both.
Review 104:I booked a non-smoking room - when I arrived there were only smoking rooms with only a non-smoking handicap room to change to. We weren't taking that away from someone that may need it. A light in the bathroom was burnt out and the shower door leaked.
Review 105:View was great! Valet and Bell staff were amazing!
Review 106:The wifi was terrible. I stayed in the tower closest to the river ( on the 11th floor) and the wifi signal was either really weak or the wifi was just slow in general. The sad part was that I needed wifi more than anything on this trip :(
Review 107:Furniture in the room was very dated, old and not in good shape...looked like it had been used in another hotel Overall the hotel seemed very bland and dull
Review 108:1. Service was horrible at Neros. With a $140 bill for just myself, I would have thought he would have been better. 2. Hairs in bathroom in toilet & shower. 3. Rude valet when I was leaving my last day.
Review 109:Dinner at Neros. 20oz Tomahawk was awesome. Room was large and had a great view of the Detroit river from the 25th floor. One awesome valet lady.
Review 110:Took way to long to check in and out if you are not a Diamond club member. stood in line for 15 min and had people walk right up to counter from other line.
Review 111:good venue for concert won money in casino
Review 112:Checking in took way too long - 40 mins. Everyone in the line was getting upset. It was our first time staying at the hotel so we weren't able to use the preferred customer lines (3 front desk staff for Diamond cardholders vs. 1 front desk staff for non cardholders). I have never felt so mistreated by a check-in service and I travel extensively. I would not recommend this hotel for that reason.
Review 113:The view of the river.
Review 114:Can't think of anything, really.
Review 115:The price of $179 for a Friday night was great. We would have liked to stay an extra night, but couldn't afford the cost of $420 for that night which, I believe, was high because it was show night.
Review 116:We waited in the check-in line for approx. 30 mins, before someone acknowledged us (with my elderly parents). The Diamond Cardholders were moving through the lines quickly. Having never been to this hotel before we didn't have a Diamond card. Everyone in our line was very upset. There was only one person at the desk for everyone else and she was taking a long time...even disappeared for a while. Worst front desk experience EVER!
Review 117:The hotel itself was fine once we were moved to the room we requested. However, we were only able to move for one night.
Review 118:Alcohol prices were expensive. Room service charges were a little unfair. The casino payouts not so good but we had fun regardless.
Review 119:The room was nice and big and the river view at night was gorgeous. Beds were comfy and the bathroom amenities were very good. Housekeeping very friendly and non interruptive.
Review 120:the women at the desk who checked us in was rude and flippant. We arrived exhausted after a four and a half hour drive with our 2 sons (ages12 and 9). Consequently we arrived at 10:30pm. We asked if we could stay a second night and we're basically told no chance because the entire hotel was fully booked. We asked to be put on a cancellation list but she told us to keep calling the front desk to check. A lovely bell boy brought our luggage to our room and said he could put our requests under customer comments. This is something she didn't even offer to do. My husband was extremely polite to her. She was rude to me for absolutely no reason. It was like she was in s bad mood. She went out of her way to change her personality and be nice back to him alone.
Review 121:nice clean room 3 kind ladies helped us check out. One who collected our luggage, the valet co-ordinater at exit and the valet. They were extremely nice and efficient.
Review 122:carrying my bags from parking lot, through the casino, to reception then back through the casino to the hotel tower and up to my room
Review 123:The shower enclosure is great
Review 124:beautiful spacious room, exceptionally comfortable bed (most important for me), beautifully furnished. The room was extremely large, comfortable and attractive regardless of price; for the price it was utterly amazing. Very friendly, super helpful staff throughout. wish i had the time to take better advantage of the fitness facility.
Review 125:The wifi was not consistently connected and it was a task to make sure we weren't roaming
Review 126:There was something for me and something for my husband. He would go to the casino, while I enjoyed the shops. We only stayed for one night and wished we would have booked for longer...so much to explore!
Review 127:Television was WAY too small for a room of that size. There was too much chlorine in the water. My eyes burned, were dry, and red during my stay. Even my eye drops didn't help. We asked for a view of the river. Instead, we got a view of apartments. We had to go up to the window to get a glimpse of the river.
Review 128:The room was spacious and the bathroom was the perfect size. The king bed was comfy. The casino is beautifully designed. It would've been nice to have shops inside the casino like in Vegas.
Review 129:We booked a king room and ended up in a double queen room. The shower head barely had any pressure. Need higher flow shower heads. Ate at The Artist onsite, which we experienced very poor service.
Review 130:The room was very clean and roomy. The facilities were really nice and décor was great.
Review 131:Came for a concert. I am not much of a concert goer but your auditorium was excellent for sound and will now be back. Didn't have to leave the hotel, lots of different, excellent food and was a pleasure to just sit and enjoy the whole atmosphere.
Review 132:Rooms were just nice. Nothing special. Steakhouse could have nicer atmosphere.
Review 133:Beautiful casino with skylight in bar area. Thought I was in Vegas for a minute.Nice people for employees. Will return here over Detroit offerings.
Review 134:We were woken up by a fight in the hall, and the hallway smelt like narcotics
Review 135:The staff is very friendly and the hotel was very clean and nice view of water and it was great having the casino right there.
Review 136:Odds at casino were very poor. Lots of folks were complaining. Usually you can play a while, but it just ate up the money. Most likely will not be back, to many other options. Not real busy, must be the reason. Room was not real clean, dirty mirrors and unclean shelf on vanity. Looking tired.
Review 137:Staff were all ver welcoming and nice.
Review 138:Finding valet parking was a bit of a challenge at first. The worst was you had to go thru the casino to get to the hot tub and pool because there are 2 sections of the motel and only 1 pool.
Review 139:Very clean and quiet
