Reviews for Leonardo Hotel Charleroi City Center

Review 1:Relatively far walk from Charleroi sud train station Reception was dingy and smelt of food cos of the restaurant next door Fridge wasn't working

Review 2:Toilet was really well equipped (tissue box, soap, hair dryer, bath tub) Room was spacious Free coffee and tea Hot water flask Bigger room than expected

Review 3:The hotel is attached to a restaurant.. and the smell is a bit everywhere

Review 4:ideal position in the city near the train station ( easy to reach) and if in the next morning you have to be quite early at the airport. Hotel has also an agreement with the taxi so the ride to the airport is cheaper as usual .

Review 5:The toilet paper provided was quiet rough. Pillows on bed were really small and soft. Charleroi itself is a bit bleak, hopefully the many construction sites will be done soon.

Review 6:Loved they had a kettle for use. Big bed, spacy room, it was very comfortable. Right next to main centre, main square and uptown are in walking distance. Also, staff at reception booked a taxi (20€) for us upon request from hotel to the airport at 4.50am.

Review 7:Because of renovation in the area it was difficult to find the hotel, all roads around were messed up.

Review 8:Clean, a bit dark small room, good breakfast (no vegetables), helpful personnel

Review 9:A little dated and grubby looking, smelled a little like a pensioners wardrobe. The lifts were straight out of the final destination movies.

Review 10:The location was perfect for our trip, the staff were friendly and helpful and the secure parking was fantastic as we had expensive cargo in our vehicle. The rooms reflected the price.

Review 11:Currently there are major reconstruction being carried out in the area causing whole streets being closed even for walking traffic.

Review 12:Hotel is located in the very center of the town. Walking distance from the train station and bus stop to the airport.

Review 13:Very welcoming staff when I arrived late at night. And the morning staff was just as accommodating. It was a nice place to unwind and regroup after a long day of travelling.

Review 14:Using Sllep/Fly option had a Terrible experience with the Taxi company on arrival back at Charleroi. 45 minutes in total waiting, lucky it was not wet or cold, would have been even worse.

Review 15:Hotel is fine, comfortable and correct

Review 16:Charleroi itself is very unpleasant place, dark room, very soft mattress, construction site near the hotel.

Review 17:Good value for money, 10 mins walk from the Charleroi railway station, good for overnight stay, room recently renovated

Review 18:If you travel by car, DO NOT visit this hotel as it is impossible to reach by road until 2017 because of the road outside being rebuilt. Also, their parking garage does not open until 19.00 hours. What rubbish!

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Noise from other guests in the early morning.

Review 21:Good location on main street of Charleroi. Walking distance to station and airport shuttle bus. Helpful staff. Big clean and comfortable room. Free wi-fi connection. Good for an overnight stay between flights.

Review 22:Dirty windows, dead leafs from last autumn in lobby (I came in june...), small elevators, not very fast wifi, huge noisy clock. Plus - afordable, room clean and comfy bed.

Review 23:the room itself smells awful; really, really dirty curtains; the extra pillow from the wardrobe was already used; mega stained carpet (not safe walking barefoot), gum, oil & co

Review 24:friendly room clerk

Review 25:We stayed overnight in Charleroi to be close to the airport. The town itself was basically shut down when we were there (Belgium National Day) and so there was really nowhere to eat. Walking around the town a bit I noticed a few 'Chambre d'amour' (rented by the hour) and any number of 'jolie filles' plying there trade. Indeed I was approached three times by kerb crawlers! In short, a town to pass through on your way to somewhere else.

Review 26:Very comfortable and spacious room.

Review 27:- on a very hot day one could choose between being able do open the windows only 20 cm or to hear noise from fans from the outside terrace; interior, especially bathroom somewhat gloomy/shabby, could be cleaner; uncomfortable bed for reading because there was no plank on the headside; night-lamp switch far away so one has to stand up from bed to switch it off; poor breakfast, cheese had to be asked for, not a clean restaurant, spots on the floor, shabby...

Review 28:- friendly staff

Review 29:the very loud group in a room down the hall that kept running around at night

Review 30:easy to find , clean rooms and comfortable beds for very sharp price. Breakfast was not included but not needed any way.

Review 31:Dark, non comfortable room with dirty windows and some rust in the bathroom. Worst bed i ever slept on.

Review 32:Close to train station. Only use this hotel for one night max in case u need a place to sleep near airport.

Review 33:The location is good, because in the night time it's not possible to get to the center of Brussels, because public transportation stops working at midnight. Pretty close to the airport.

Review 34:Hot in the room and the fridge of minibar wasn't in function.

Review 35:I liked it. Modern, clean, silence and beautiful. If i come again to charleroi, i'll repeat...

Review 36:old exterior, reception, restaurant and lifts; almost impossible to open the window in the room; impolite staff at breakfast

Review 37:room quality much higher than reception and restaurant quality; close to the train station

Review 38:There is an ever going construciton activity in the area. There is NO minibar in the room. The neighbourhood does not seem safe. And yes, there is absolutely 0 soundproofing in the otherwise OKish rooms

Review 39:The hotel has a free overnight parking (make sure to take the car out before 9 am), there is free and quite speedy wifi, the rooms are clean, but air conditioning could be better. There is a good restaurant at the hotel (owned by a different company and closed on Wednesdays). Leaving the city is easy as the hotel is close both to the railway station and la petite ceinture.

Review 40:The lifts are a bit too small, and slow. Better to well calculate the timing.

Review 41:Good old fashioned - nostalgic spacious room with a water-cooker! Staffs are friendly, the location is convenient enough.

Review 42:The room had a strange smell and the bathroom was old and dirty.

Review 43:It's a good location if you are just passing by Charleroi, because it's close to the train station.

Review 44:Street outside was quite noisy which might trouble some people, though to be fair it wasn't a problem for me. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, but I've had better - I was glad it was included in price of my room as 13 euros would have been a bit steep for what was offered.

Review 45:Very good value; location was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean.

Review 46:Very small and old lifts, in the room the window can be open only 5 centimeters wide. WiFi very bad.

Review 47:Very good location, only 5 minutes by feet from the central square of the city.

Review 48:I booked a single room, later wanted to upgrade or add an extra bed willing to pay any cost but the hotel denied giving me no other option than make another booking and lose the one I made.

Review 49:i ask to wake me up because i had to go to the airport and they forgot. i also ask for a taxi and they forgot too.

Review 50:the room was very comfortable and clean

Review 51:Hotel rooms were not as show in pictures because the hotel is very old, despite the fact it looks new. Not double bed but 2 singles together with the worst mattress and annoying sounds Awful smell in the corridors and rooms (probably some kind of paint)

Review 52:Location for people who want to see Charleroi

Review 53:Wifi only with registration. Uncozy. Bad ventilation in rooms. Thin walls (could hear moans and bangs in neighbor room). Felt very cheap. + 2Euro from person (city tax) Impossible to get to hotel from airport after 23:00 by public transport. Had to get cab that costs starting from 20Euros. Most of the drivers will try to rip you off as much as they can.

Review 54:Leaving the hotel

Review 55:Clock didnt work at all, one lamp didnt work also bathroom had nothing else except from toilet paper and hand soap thin walls so you can hear every room around yours !!!

Review 56:Free Wifi very poor almost non-existent. Location (Charleroi) is a tad dead. Breakfast is around 13 euros if not included in the booking. TV signal was a touch weak.

Review 57:Staff were very good and professional. Rooms were good for the price. A kind of premium travel lodge. Good for an overnight stay if its late.

Review 58:The WiFi did not work on my Nokia mobile, but that wasn't a problem at all

Review 59:It's very close to the Charleroi-Sud station, the personnel was really helpful, and the room was good enough

Review 60:Unfortunately not renovated and because of that the hotel and the room feels old. We booked a double room and got two single beds united. There was a cigar smell in the room. The heat was not turned on when we came in the room.

Review 61:The location is perfect being close to the city center and to the train station. The hotel is at the last two floors of a building and the decorations and the facilities make you feel like in the 70's. There are tea and coffee facilities.

Review 62:A bit worn bathroom equipment. But as far as still working this couldn't be taken as disadvantage.

Review 63:Cleanliness, friendly staff, good breakfast, large and warm room. Very close to Charleroi-Sud railway station (about 500 m, 5-6 min. walking) as well as to city centre.

Review 64:In the heart of Charleroi, a short walk from the Charleroi Sud train station. The staff was cordial and helpful, even at 5 a.m. Many shops and restaurants are on the streets around the hotel (including a wonderful lounge with terrific crepes).

Review 65:There was really nothing to complain about.

Review 66:I liked everything in that hotel. The staff were very helpful and with a good sense of humour. The room was cosy, warm and always clean. Its location was in the very centre of the town and the hotel itself was a great value for money. I would recommend this hotel to all kinds of tourists.

Review 67:Very bad infrastructure, needs urgent reconstruction Privacy not guaranteed-can hear all what is going on next room. Breakfast is average, locationnot bad itself, just insulation of windows poor-to moisy. Reconstructionneeded urgently!!!

Review 68:Strange machine noise (airconditioners on the roof?) all night, switching on and off every couple of minutes. Also noise from neighbours using the bathroom. Breakfast requires a complicated ticket system, and it is not worth the 13 EUR they charge for it.

Review 69:Parking around the corner.

Review 70:Reserved non-smoking but got a smoking room. Had to change room Small and slow elevator

Review 71:Quite Basement parking Small refrigerator Free coffee Internet Nice spot

Review 72:Room facing a busy street meant that it was noisy at night and early in the morning. Internet did not work in our room or in reception area.

Review 73:Fridge and coffee and tea making facilities in room. Location convenient to city area.Secure car park.

Review 74:Verry out-datet hotel, pictures on booking.com are not real situation. Bad breakfest (cheap cheese, meat and yoghurt), receptionist doesnt ask anything when we checked out. It smelles terrible like someone is smoking all the time. Never never again, even never for business trips.

Review 75:Soap to wash hands in bathroom

Review 76:This hotel needs urgent renovation. Everything seems to be from the last century. Breakfast the poorest I've ever had and thus expensive.

Review 77:Excellent location.

Review 78:not much choise to eat from the buffet breakfast. no fruit with the cereal. lift to rooms a bit small and wouldnt always work with the room card.

Review 79:liked the friendly staff with comfy beds. tv good with bbc 1/2.

Review 80:The only problem was that a mosquito or some sort of insect got into the room and I was like a pin cushion in the morning but as I had the window open it was my own fault. Just didn't expect mosquitoes in Belgium at the end of September. Charleroi city itself hasn't much to offer just ok for 1 night airport stopover.

Review 81:Quiet and clean . Free wifi and flat screen tv with some English channels including BBC1. Taxi from hotel to airport is 20 euro or catch the airport bus a 10 min walk away

Review 82:The carpeted floor should either be renewed or cleaned more often. You can not open windows at night if you want to rest and there is no air conditioning.

Review 83:Cheap

Review 84:The bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be. We found fungy in the tub. The towels had a strange smell.

Review 85:Nice room Close to train and bus station. Nice view.

Review 86:Charleroi a bit of a ghost town, with many shops closed. Nothing to do with the Hotel though.

Review 87:Good, centrally placed Hotel, very handy for station and buses.

Review 88:My room was on the 5th floor, when i went inside the room and put the lights on they were very dim. The desk was so wide you cant reach to open the window as there was a musty smell like the room had not been used for a while and the clock on the wall had stopped too. No air conditioning. The room generally needed freshening up i know its a budget room but there are still standards that need to be kept.

Review 89:I liked the location and the price. The breakfast. As you approach the hotel its looks good, reception gave a warm welcome.Good size room

Review 90:The town itself which is industrial so not for tourists. It also gave an impression of untidiness and a lack of general pride in itself. Certainly would not return there by choice.

Review 91:Serious mold problem in shower grout that could have been simply fixed with bleach. Something like that tends to suggest other sanitation problems. La moisissure dans la douche. Schimmel in douche. Schimmel in der Dusche.

Review 92:The ac was not cooling at all First they said there are no other room I was going to check out the same night and find another hotel last mint thy offer anther room

Review 93:No internet for 80 EUR per night! It's a robbery! We were given only one card from the room. When one of us was in the room, another one should get second card. I waited the receptionist more than 15 mins trying to get a card which is also using for elevator

Review 94:Great location - 5 mins from the Charleroi Sud Railway station; Excellent breakfast with fresh buns and croissants, coffee, juice, meat!

Review 95:Location was good... 10 minutes walk to train station...

Review 96:Close to the train station, shops and restaurants

Review 97:Expensive, not that clean for the money we spent.

Review 98:Comfy bed,good location,nice staff

Review 99:I would like to be a bit more cleaned (was cleaned but the bathroom wasn't cleaned enough)

Review 100:The room was big and very comfortable

Review 101:Room was not clean had to change. Hotel was dark and gloomy.

Review 102:Close to amenities and helpful staff

Review 103:Floor in reception area needs tidying up. Shower head was not fixed to the wall properly. Faulty hanging device.

Review 104:Very frinedly stuff

Review 105:breakfast not very good

Review 106:location

Review 107:Photos do not show reality

Review 108:Price for breakfast, because it is too high for standar normal beakfast !

Review 109:Everything, except breakfast.

Review 110:very basic quality and poor condition of room. Nothing like advertised

Review 111:No heating?

Review 112:Friendly staff

Review 113:It's not the hotel's fault that the city just shuts down at 6pm.

Review 114:Location (central between train station and city centre) and room quality.

Review 115:Wifi hardly worked. Very poor breakfast

Review 116:Staff very friendly. Nice and clean room with spacious bathroom

Review 117:Efficiency of parking, booking in, room quiet

Review 118:Is very hot in room

Review 119:Far by feet from the Sud Train Station

Review 120:Very good hotel for one night

Review 121:The hotel was great but Charleroi isn't the nicest place to go not alot going on.

Review 122:everything

Review 123:friendliness of staff Location

Review 124:Staff very friendly and helpful had a fan in the room to keep cool.

Review 125:good position for airport 20 euros to airport 4 people booked at reception couple of bars next door with atmosphere

Review 127:rooms very small

Review 128:Staff very friendy
