Reviews for City View Hotel

Review 1:No bad experiences at all. The restaurant offers good but plain food, not for gourmets

Review 2:Excellent location, location and location! Staff very friendly and helpful. Unasked for offered free and punctual pickup from the airport. Adequate breakfast buffet.

Review 3:centrally located and very convenient to go around Cairo; the breakfast is very delicious; staff offers excellent services; restaurant offers delicious yet affordable food

Review 4:Tahrir square below, rather noisy

Review 5:Egyptian Museum right across the street, restaurants and shopping facilities in walking distance, public transport and taxis nearby

Review 6:noisy street, problems with air cleanliness ( but this is Cairo problems, not hotel's :))

Review 7:Perfect downtown location. Egypt museum is seen from the balcony, metro station just around the corner, all sorts of food within hands reach. Very attentive staff.

Review 8:Noisy, breakfast could be better, bathroom needs more attention to fix leaks. wi fi is poor.

Review 9:Location is recognized, staff were nice & tried hard to satisfy customers.

Review 10:At the price, there is little to complain about. The bathtub is a bit small. The entrance from the street is a bit dreary (look for the 5th floor illuminated corner sign at night, or by day it can be found between Sudan Airways and Abercrombie & Kent.) There was a bit of noise from the street with roadworks but nothing that bothered me much.

Review 11:I've stayed at City View Hotel on more than one occasion and each time more impressed that the last. It is not a posh $$$$ hotel: simply a modest establishment that is probably the best deal in its price range that you could hope for.Within minutes of booking, I received an email offering from Marco on reception offering me a free airport pickup. This not only takes away a lot of worry but is exceptionally convenient and saves on average LE100 to get into town. (The airport have offered me taxis at 180 and 150, many hotels charge 100 or more. I should ad that City View Hotel only charged a modest LE70 to go back as well, and with no hint of extra 'backsheesh'. Cheers, Hassan!). A breakfast box provided at no charge for my early morning departure flight. My room cost me LE576 in total for TWO nights, including tax and an extensive breakfast. As per my request, I had a private balcony with a view of the Museum and Tahrir Square. Wifi in the room was free and generally excellent. There was a water heater that delivered masses of hot water. There was a room safe and the minibar was stocked at realistic prices (3LE or water, 4LE for for soft drinks). Free postcards. The bathroom and bedroom were clean and bright with a/c, a smart washbasin and nice bed linen. Soaps and shampoo were provided. The restaurant served decent food at a reasonable price (thank you Tariq!).The overall feeling about this venue is that although it is on the 5th floor of a very old building (like many in downtown), the staff go out of their way to do little things to make it nice, some of them rather quaint. For instance, the lift plays the 'Theme from Titanic' every time you get in! Even the walls of the lift-shaft have been gaily decorated. There's always someone on hand to fix something if you need it (Can I borrow some sellotape?), give advice (Is Attaba the best place to get a briefcase?), chat, or just share a joke.

Review 12:The family feel of the hotel was great. I went to caoro to get married and although the wedding itself was hectic. The staff were there to greet us on our return and had decorated the room. Lovely touch

Review 13:Not clean enough. Night time Hotel staff speak and listen radio and music loudly during night .

Review 14:Location is perfect. Hotel staff is friendly and helpfull.

Review 15:Bathroom water not draining properly.

Review 16:1. Kind and helpful staff each and every one specially Carlo, Salam & Marco. 2. Hotel is located 5th floor in old building. Close to museum. 3. They arranged for us reasonable tours - Egyptian Museum, Sakkara &Giza pyramids, City tour, Pharaonic village, Alexandria,Khan Al Khalili market &Maydom pyramid. Thanks to tour guide Wagih Alfy.

Review 17:The breakfast was very light though tasty.

Review 18:We liked very much the location and the staff attention, especially the guy at the reception desk, Carlos was very friendly and supportive with us. The rest were very helpful to give information about the main attractions within the city and organised for us the Pyramids tour. There is decent Wi-Fi signal within the entire hotel. Also, they booked a lift for my family from the hotel to the airport. I strongly recommend it.

Review 19:There isn't any negative comment on our stay. It was so comfy

Review 20:The location was perfect; so close to our destination. Very good service & the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and everything we needed was available

Review 21:No turkish coffee for breakfast. Only Nescafé. Big disappointment.

Review 22:The rooms were clean, the neighbourhood lively, the staff super friendly, and the balconies are by far the best. Cairo is not a quiet city, so don't expect silence, but the rooms are relatively quiet.

Review 23:It wasnt very comfortable. We found it hard to get enough rest on the beds. The breakfast was adequate, at best.

Review 24:The location was excellent, close to the Egyptian museum and the corniche.

Review 25:Kareem and Paula are the best staff ever! Kareem helped us a lot during the stay even after we moved to our trip. They are very organize, friendly and their tile is really fashioned. I totally recommend guys to try their place!

Review 26:1) HIDDEN COSTS WITH TOURS AND/OR GUIDES 2) UGLY BUILDING 3) NOT WELL MAINTAINED 4) COLD, UGLY ROOMS 5) NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY 6) VERY LOUD AREA 7) OLD FACILITIES

Review 27:1) GOOD BREAKFAST 2) HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY STAFF 3) AIRPORT PICKUP 4) ARRANGE TOURS AND/OR GUIDES

Review 28:No hot water as the boilers did not work properly. The personnel was trying to give the impression that they are helpful but in fact they weren t at all. The Manager of the hotel proposed to wait for us at the airport. "How nice" I thought. But of course nobody showed up at the airport. They couldn t help us with some local calls Rooms were quite dirty.

Review 29:The location was the only good thing about this hotel. The breakfast was decent

Review 30:I chose this hotel purely for the location with respect to the Cairo Museum (200 metres away). Staff were all friendly and helpful, room clean with a comfortable bed.

Review 31:I was unlucky enough to arrive on the anniversary of the revolution, meaning that Tahrir Square was blocked off. This made it extremely difficult to find my way to the hotel via the surrounding streets. However, it is very easy to locate once you know where it is, and all the taxi drivers know the square (they do not know the hotel though). When you google the supplied address, it takes you to the wrong place, so just head for the north-east side of Tahrir Square (be warned that Tahrir Square is not the roundabout that is indicated on google maps, but actually refers to a rectangular area immediately south of the Egyptian Museum), and look up to find the hotel sign on the 5th floor. The entrance is on Abd El-salem Aref.

Review 32:The location is excellent, right in the middle of central Cairo with great views over Tahrir Square, as the whole place is situated on the 5th floor. I enjoyed eating breakfast on the balcony overlooking the square. The staff are very friendly and helpful, almost to a fault. The chef Tarek provided me with a very personal room service for most of my meals, which was very welcomed and good value. Very much appreciated the free Wifi throughout the hotel. All in all, was a nice place to relax to get away from the chaos of Cairo. Not the height of luxury, but you wouldn't expect it for the price.

Review 33:The hotel is located in a central location and most of the sight seeing places are walking distance. The staff was very warm and the booking manager could even send the vehicle on his own after finding out the time of the flight from the internet site. Mr Hany the front desk manager was always a great help to coordinate last minute plans ,organize the cruise etc. The facilities are good. I recommend the place for its staff and location.

Review 34:breakfast only ok; they claim to serve other meals, but I'm guessing they order take-out from Felfela, a good nearby place.

Review 35:Twelve foot ceilings; marble floors; some rooms with a view of the Egyptian Museum; friendly, helpful staff; good location; and great pricing.

Review 36:Horrible bed, too much noise, dirty, ugly decoration, bad service. I don't understand their good evaluation. It was because of this that we came here, but we were so disappointed!!! We were supposed to stay 4 nights but we could barely stay one!! We didn't sleep at all with the noise and bad mattress. After we announced our early check out to the manager he accepted but started to treat us in a really bad humour. Also, after paying the bill, we were already leaving the hotel when he called me back to charge the supposed free shuttle!! If we were supposed to pay why don't include in the bill??? It was so unprofessional of his part! I really, really, don't recommend this place!! With their price you can stay in a 4 or even 5 star hotel in Giza!! Don't waste your money and time!

Review 37:Location close to the Egyptian museum.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Excellent location - right on Tahrir Square Very helpful and courteous staff Loved the view from my room Very clean and comfortable beds and linen

Review 40:My first time in Cairo, as a single female traveller. The airport pickup went smoothly and was incredibly helpful. Marco and the staff were great throughout and breakfast on the balcony overlooking the Egypt Museum was a wonderful way to start the day. The hotel is incredibly good value, particularly considering the location - I stepped out onto the balcony and realised I was overlooking Tahrir Square, the Egyptian Museum and the Intercontinental and Ritz Carlton. 5 star location at less than half the price. Cairo feels safe, and I would encourage anyone considering a visit to book now and stay at City View!

Review 41:aged furniture noisy nights (honking cars) cleanliness of hotel kitchen

Review 42:effort of staff geographical location free WLAN one free transfer from Kairo airport low prices of the beverages in the room bar

Review 43:The hotel faces the main street, which is always busy and you can hear the cars honking all day. A little difficult to get some rest.

Review 44:Well located. Very close to Tahrir Square and to Cairo Museum. Short walk to metro station and Nile river views.

Review 45:Room is a bit dated Rooms on Tahir Square are affected by traffic noise Guests with allergies may not like bathroom and room deodorizer. No English TV Channels

Review 46:Right across the street from the Egyptian Museum on Tahir Square Helpful, friendly and caring staff offer VIP treatment to every guest Concierge assistance with sightseeing planning and transfer bookings Very good value Balcony rooms overlook Tahir Square Good breakfast

Review 47:Only small thinks - quite difficult to find - is on the 5 th floor unnamed building but because airport pick up is included this is not big issue. Hotel is straight on metro station, but now is closed. Another one is in short distance.

Review 48:Very helpfull staff - I arrived at 7 am . check in at 14, but my room was reaalconz dy at 8 am. Central location - metro station in walking distance , Egyptian muzeum cca 100 far away.

Review 49:helpful staff, airport transfer at a reasonable price, location opposite Cairo Museum, air-conditioning, free WIFI,clean room, soap, towels, shampoo in bathroom

Review 90:good location/ personnel ok/ Simple breakfast/

Review 91:the staff was so nuce and herlpful

Review 92:the staff is very good, the local is excelente near the Egypt Museum.

Review 93:central location pick-up at airport friendly and helpful staff big breakfast room well equipped and quiet for central Cairo

Review 94:The breakfasts could be improved with some fruit, a range of cereals and filter coffee. It would also be nice if complamentory bottled drinking water was avaiable each day (say 1 litre per persom per day)

Review 95:The staff looked after us and gave us great suggestions for site seeing. They also assisted us by providing drivers to take us and recommend the best way to see the sites. The complimentory airport pick-up was a great bonus.

Review 96:Very nice of them to drive me from airport to City View. From then on, every staff has been very nice and helpful. Most importantly, I feel safe staying with them. Mona, my tour guide to Giza whom the hotel arranged for me, is knowledgable and experienced. My first trip to Cairo is almost perfect, big thank you to City View.

Review 97:Only thing not perfect was that the wifi didn't work at all times. But when it did it was good.

Review 98:Best location for downtown Cairo, especially if you like the Egyptian museum. View is great over the museum and Tahrir square. If you want to see history unfolding before your eyes as well as being close to the treasures of Egypt this is THE place. Very friendly and helpfull staff. They wash your clothes cheap. Super atmosphere. We stayed there during turbulent times. However Tahrir square was the most quiet part of Cairo the three days we stayed there. Plenty of armored wehicles to guard the area and little traffic on the square.

Review 99:Hotel entrance does not reflect what you see inside. It can be improved.

Review 100:I loved the positive energy in this place. Comfortable, hospitable, and relaxing.

Review 101:When I booked my taxi, the taxi driver told me that they only payed him50 pounds Egyptian, while I had paid the hotel $15 usd.

Review 102:Location, service, restaurant, balconies.

Review 103:Hotel was very good, quality of breakfast and food provided was also very good. In addition to this, free internet facility made our stay more comfirtable.

Review 104:Nothing! Would recommend the hotel to my friends.

Review 105:Very friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. Restaurant is very good value and meals were great.

Review 106:Breakfast was awful, facility and cutlary was not clean. Food served was not fresh and tasteful - definitely was not at 3* hotel standards. They should improve breakfast quality. .

Review 107:Location (in center of downtown - across to Egyptian museum) and staff was perfect Front desk clerks - were really friendly and helpful to the guests. Rooms were clean.

Review 108:The front entrance was dark and gloomy even though the staff had triedto make it inviting with plants and Egyptian-type pictures on the walls.

Review 109:The staff was very helpful. The room was clean...the bed wascomfortable. It had the four C's for travel: cheap, clean, convenient and comfortable. It was easy to get around and had easyaccess to travel agents for tours etc.

Review 110:I must confess to a mild feeling of house-arrest due to the supervisedlift system and the over-enquiring staff - but to give benefit of anydoubt, this could have been genuine concern for guests' safety dueto the hotel's proximity to Tahrir Square and its ever-presentinflammable mood.

Review 111:Well located for Tahrir Square and Downtown, the hotel sits snugly onthe 5th floor of an office block. Simple but comfortable rooms withlittle balconies overlooking dusty and chaotic streets below.

Review 112:the stairs of the building ( the hotel is in the 5th floor ) has to be renovated as well as the dining room.

Review 113:the staff was very friendly, the rooms and beds were very clean, it was safe and in a very good location.

Review 114:the decoration of the entrace of the hotel is A bit old fashioned and it has to be more clean.

Review 115:very good location -downtown if you want to move quickly. the staff was very friendly, the room was clean and it was safe.

Review 116:I was warned the area is a little dicey/dangerous, but had noproblems and staff went out of their way to make sure I wouldn't tothe best of their ability.

Review 117:If you want to be close to the Egyptian museum you can't getmuch closer.
