Reviews for B&B Vijverhuis

Review 1:Nothing to report.

Review 2:The manager was helpful and friendly and he made us fell very welcome. The Hotel is 25 minutes walk, Ypres town center is accessible, at the same time you can enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Review 3:Excellent quiet location with stunning views across the lake. Great attention to detail with the decoration of the property and rooms. Very comfortable bed and extremely clean throughout.

Review 4:Excellent location, but still only a reasonable 30 minute walk to town center, with friendly staff, very relaxing and enjoyable, also slightly quirky in a good way.

Review 5:Brilliant Hotel, friendly staff. We booked for an overnight stay on our way back home, but wish we could have stayed longer. Hoping to go back sometime.

Review 6:Check in time is only from 1400 hrs to 1800 hrs; we arrived before 1400 hrs and fortunately managed to get a key but unsure what would have happened if we arrived in the evening as we had golf appointement at 1400 hrs and imposible to get back by 1800hrs. ?

Review 7:Lovely location and wonderful room and terrace view. A very agreeable and relaxing short stay together with faultless wi-fi

Review 8:The room was amazing and the terrace overlooking the water was superb. No expense has been spared to create the gorgeous rooms. There are additional rooms for guests to chill out in downstairs. It is a very relaxing place to stay and the attached bistro serves tasty lunches too. Ypres centre is within walking distance or you can hire bikes from the owners.

Review 9:Glad we had SatNav as it is tucked away but only a short drive into Ypres and walkable - approx 30mins via footpath

Review 10:Excellent design and decor. Comfortable modern room with other communal rooms and terrace over lake. Very good breakfast selection Good centre for touring the area

Review 11:In our particular room there was a mini bar but no coffee making facility. It really is a tiny gripe as there's such a well equipped kitchen/coffeemaker for guest use.

Review 12:It's the sort of place you don't really want to tell anyone about - to keep if for yourself - the more popular it gets as people find it - the harder it will be to book.

Review 13:Our room had the toilet downstairs and the bathroom upstairs but there was a great spacious shower.

Review 14:Wonderful location on the lake. Close to Ypres but just far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was a treat. Sitting on the deck in the sun overlooking the lake was a delight. You could walk into Ypres in about 1/2 hour. Carl was a very welcoming host. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 15:Had to leave after 2 nights. Would like to have stayed longer

Review 16:A quiet location on a small lake close to all the WW1 battlefields around Ypres. The owners are a young couple who have done an amazing restoration of this building dating back before the Great War. Carl served a very nice breakfast and was very helpful. Great job for a young man with little background in B&B.

Review 17:The accommodation has been updated in a wonderful way. On the lake was fabulous. The owner was very nice, very accomodating (especially since we arrived 2.5 hrs late!). Lovely place and very glad we found it.

Review 18:Beautiful accommodation they had thought of everything a travellers would need , English electric adaptor, dressing gowns for example. Was just far enough from town for a pleasant walk

Review 19:Minor complaint but it got a little hot in the room in the afternoon when the sun hit it, and had to open windows to cool off, which was effective but let in some bugs.

Review 20:Wonderful place would stay again

Review 21:Beds where not made daily or bins emptied but wasn't an issue for us really . April seems to be when the fields are being sprayed so can smell a bit but you get used to it

Review 22:Clean comfortable rooms great breakfast a views of the lake about 20-30 min walk into Ypres many historical places to visit near by

Review 23:There was nothing bad about this place.

Review 24:This was the best place to stay. Our host was so welcoming and the room magnificent. You really couldn't ask for more. The view awesome, the bed extremely comfortable and was just a 20min walk to town.

Review 25:Nothing.

Review 26:One year down the line and still as good as ever. Some aspects starting to get a little worn but Carl has designed a boutique hotel so fixtures and fitting will not be as hard wearing as those of stock hotels. Service however remains excellent and, coupled with the superb location and the well stocked fridge full of Belgian beer in the kitchen, we will certainly keep coming back :-)

Review 27:None at all

Review 28:Everything. The host spoke excellent English was charming and really helpful. This is a high quality development with really superior facilities. The mini bars and kitchen were stocked with everything. The view over the lake is breath taking

Review 29:Unique location right on the lake, but at only 5' by car to the city center. Quiet and no parking issues. Beautifully renovated the whole building as well as the rooms.

Review 30:The decor of the place is exceptional. The views from your balcony over the lake superb A lovely 30 min walk into town on a lovely day or a quick five minute drive

Review 31:A delightful stay, from the warm welcome, the well appointed room, kitchen where you could do you own catering, although we ate out during our stay, comfortable lounge and a sleep friendly bed in our room. Breakfast looking over the lake was a plus. We would certainly come back to here if coming to Ypres again. Convenient to the town.

Review 32:There was nothing we didn't like about Vijverhuis. However we did find it a bit difficult to find. This could be overcome with a sign at the end of the long drive.

Review 33:We liked everything about this beautiful B&B. The room was lovely with a beautiful view over the lake. It's situation a couple of kms outside Ypres is ideal. It is quiet. The furnishings are stylish and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and Karl was an excellent host. We recommend this B& B very highly.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Arrived Friday, shown around by Carl, very welcoming and views were fantastic from our private balcony. Close to town, was everything we wanted and more breakfast was terrific, can't wait to go again. Thankyou Carl,

Review 36:The accommodation was delightful and Carl a lovely host. The lake surrounds were so nice, the birds heading south for winter. We walked into the Menin Gate (very moving ceremony) and walked home after dark - a lovely stroll. Many thanks Carl.

Review 37:Phone contact was less than agreeable. No staff after 6pm. The impression is that they haven't yet quite got hold of the mechanics of running a b&b, but hopefully that will improve with experience.

Review 38:Pretty location beside a small lake. A lot of money has been spent in renovating the quaint building to a high standard. Nice breakfast. Pleasant and helpful young man whom you deal with. Cafe on site.

Review 39:I liked everything however a parasol on the balcony would have been a bonus.

Review 40:Situated in a beautiful location yet very close to Ypres this B&B has it all. Truly luxurious rooms with exquisite decor. Beds and bed linen to rival top end hotels. The ensuite had a powerful dual head and thick towelling dressing gowns. Every need had been considered and provided for.

Review 41:Nothing negative to say, we hope to return.

Review 42:Super location overlooking the lake yet close to Ypres, we cycled and it takes about 5 mins to centre on cycle paths. We had the room with the private balcony, beautifully fitted out to a very high standard. The well stocked honesty bar was a definite plus, and although we didn't use it as the weather was so good, the small sitting room overlooking the lake and kitchen facility are a bonus and would be great in cooler weather.

Review 43:parking could be improved, though sufficient. Hard to find without a Sat-Nav

Review 44:Accommodation of high quality, Breakfast plentiful and of excellent standard. Situation, beautiful and also quiet. Staff extremely helpful and is isuated within walking distance of the centre of Ypres (Ieper). It was a very good experience

Review 45:Beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and great facilities, such as the ability to access a kitchen and coffee/tea making apparatus! Good choice of breakfast ingredients, meats, cheese, cereals, dried and fresh fruit and croissants with pots of coffee, tea, milk and fresh orange juice! Televisions worked well with great signal and the wi-fi was brilliant with no password nonsense! Friendly host with good knowledge of the area!

Review 46:We enjoyed everything about the B & B, the location is superb, the rooms were excellent and very well equipped and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Review 47:Room wasn't made up next morning. maybe this will get sorted out as we understand the owner is trying to get more staff.

Review 48:Brilliant location with fabulous views across the tree lined lake. Breakfast was sufficient with your choice of egg. Very popular and early booking essential. Easy parking and we walked into Ypres on both nights of our stay which took 20 minutes. Couldn't do this when the evenings draw in.

Review 49:Rather difficult to find!! we could see it and walk to it but it was difficult to find by road. Directions with the booking would be very helpful. Once you know its fine but it took a while to find.

Review 50:The location was beautiful. Only a 20 minute walk to the centre of Ypres. Rooms were fabulous, spacious and comfortable. If we ever go back to Ypres, we will certainly stay there again.

Review 51:Central location to visit both WOI highlights as well as not far from the sea side. Very comfortable room. High level of privacy. Very friendly landlord.

Review 52:Occasional stagnant smell from lake.

Review 53:Quiet countryside location but a short walk in to Ypres. Modern contemporary accommodation with private balcony overlooking the lake. Communal lounge with TV overlooking the lake. Reasonably priced well stocked mini-bar. Communal kitchen / Dining Room with coffee making facility, reasonably priced well stocked bar and TV. Brasserie adjacent (until 6.00pm). Cycle hire.

Review 54:Perhaps due to its position there were quite lot of flies. No air conditioning which might have helped.

Review 55:Beautiful position. We had a room with balcony overlooking the lake. V near Ypres and many other WW1 sites. Nice breakfast tastefully served. Makes a difference when breakfast is included. Enjoyable stay - ultra modern.

Review 102:Best Bed and Breakfast We ever stayed in ANYWHERE.Everything was perfect! The owner was very friendly and helpful. Property was clean, newly updated to a very high standard. Quiet, rural location on a lake(take a rod!) about twenty mins walk from Ypres. We would love to return some day.

Review 104:The room was beautiful, the proprietor was personable and friendly, the breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room to die for!

Review 105:We loved everything!

Review 106:Carl was a very friendly and helpful Host. Everything was perfection, from the décor, comfort, the welcome, and the breakfasts. This is the most well appointed b & b ever, alongside a beautiful lake. On the outskirts of the Town, but very close to all the major sights. My Wife and I will definitely recommend Vijverhuis to our friends and make sure to revisit this idyll ourselves.

Review 107:Frienly and attentive staff, excellent brasserie, proximity to Ypres. Excellent for the battlefield visitor; most key points within walking distance. Ypres a deightful town with many restaurants and bars.

Karl present good selection of breakfast goods, which we had after the 3km walk around the lake.
