Reviews for Dockside Suites
Review 1:The only negative thing was it was hard to find entrance. You actually registerat the front of the restaurant. Outside looks like an industrial warehouse. All this doesn't matter once you get inside .
Review 2:We loved the location on the water. Staff were incredibly helpful. Loved being able to watch the water/wharf activity.
Review 3:while it was mentioned there would be noise on the weekend from the pub, realistically there was noise up until 11 pm during the week and that was with the doors and windows closed, it would have been a drag in nicer weather with the windows open.
Review 4:loved the location overlooking the water and the deck off the living / kitchen area. I liked being in town and able to walk about the shops. Beautiful sunrise.
Review 5:Excellent location in the centre of Digby, we booked a harbour view suite with balcony. The entrance to the suites is not attractive, but once inside the rooms are well furnished, spacious and very comfortable.
Review 6:Our stay was amazing. I have stayed at other hotels and this was by far the nicest...The staff were very friendly.we stayed in Suite I. ..even tho the view wasn't great the room was super clean and the jacuzzi was wonderful. We are now thinking about booking for 2016 !!
Review 7:Stairs; but that is a minor thing for me.
Review 8:I have been traveling for 45 years, averaging 38-42 weeks a year, NA and worldwide. I would rank this small, but potent, hotel experience among the top ten in my career and i don't bandy praise lightly.
Review 9:,loud conditioner in suite G,lack of natural lighting Suite D had Significant draft from airconditioner during major wind storm.
Review 10:View of harbour.comfortable beds,equipped kitchen
Review 11:From the front of the building you'd never expect how nice the rooms are. They're situated right above the harbor with great views from the deck!
Review 12:No elevators and little parking.
Review 13:Beautiful and modern room. Bathroom facility is luxurious. We also enjoyed the restaurant within the building. Would definitely stay again.
Review 14:The room was big. Extremely well located and spotless. The beds were very comfortable and the sofa bed was good too. The restaurant in the same complex is fantastic which is great for a fee a long day at sea.
Review 15:confusing where the front desk was due to part of restaurant - there were signs but couldn't find them for a few minutes
Review 16:quietness of the room - appearance
Review 17:Street light outside bedroom window shines through thin blindilluminating bedroom all night. Light outside door also shines throughwindow. Just need better blinds or curtains to darken. 20 foot beer candetracts from harbour view.
Review 18:Great location on the water. Large comfortable suite with lanaioverlooking harbour. Very good restaurant. . Kayak rental.
Review 19:I thought the kitchen should be better equipped with large knives, a baking sheet and a cheese grader.
Review 20:The room was beautiful, as was the view. The food was delicious. I love the fact that we had a kitchen so could have a light breakfast by ourselves.
Review 21:Noisy, especially Saturday night with the club next door playing loud music 'til 2 AM. Okay breakfast but slow service. No one at the desk after the restaurant closes. Bed too soft.
Review 22:Clean room. Good location. Nice restaurant overlooking the bay.
Review 23:Street parking. Potential to be awkward for loading and unloading your vehicle. No designated front desk clerk just whoever you could find, waitress bar tender etc. Rather frustrating.
Review 24:Large suite with adequate cooking facilities. The room was clean and quite comfortable for the rate charged. Small balcony with a great view of the harbour and scallop fleet. Everyone was friendly and tried to be helpful.
Review 25:Parking was a bit confusing at the start but was easily sorted out.
Review 26:Excellent room, very luxurious. Perfect location. We couldn't have asked for better.
Review 27:Breakfast in the restaurant was sub-par. Received wrong order and took a while to get the food even though it wasn't busy.
Review 28:We arrived mid-morning before heading out to Brier Island for whale watching. We didn't expect our room to be available & it wasn't but we were able to check in to save time upon our late return. The suite was amazing!
Review 29:Screwed up initial reservation. The owner had a terrible attitude toward the customers. His only saving grace is that he hires excellent employees. We overheard him disrespecting customers behind their backs
Review 30:Lynn was excellent in helping us out with the screw up. Without her effort the entire stay would have been ruined
Review 31:Room not ready at check-in time. Servers at the restaurant also act as staff for check-in. Least friendly welcome any place we've visited in 5 weeks in Canada. Horizontal blind fell apart when tried to open. No one showed up to fix after reporting.
Review 32:Whale watching from island.
Review 33:No elevator to rooms. Rooms all upstairs. Steep steps if you need help getting luggage upstairs it is a problem. No hotel staff to help move luggage. Parking lot across street from hotel. Not for handicap or someone with limited mobility. Hotel right next to rowdy bar. Stayed July 3 and incurred a major bar fight 10 to 20 persons in street and front of hotel at 2-3:30 am. Broken property window right underneath our room from fight. Police finally called after more than an hour. Disrupted sleep.
Review 34:The rooms are great. Very large and clean. Includes limited kitchen facilities. Wrap around balcony allows for views over Digby Harbor.
Review 35:Management needs to understand that the music from the on-site bar is intrusive and disturbing. I'll not return and will warn friends and social network explorers to avoid this location if they expect to have an evening of rest and sleep.
Review 36:The harbor view.
Review 37:Had to go in restaurant to check in. Had been warned by previous reviews. Pricey. No Breakfast. Especially since staying above a hotel a restaurant. On water but could not see it from our room.
Review 38:Room and bathroom beautiful! New and modern. Very clean. Stay at lot of Marriott hotels the room definitely had that feel of elegance. Comfortable beds and sofa bed.
Review 39:The separate bar downstairs was the only one in NS without any Craft beers.
Review 40:Very central with excellent restaurant. Best room we stayed in during our trip round NS. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Review 41:Front of facility is not very attractive. Booked two rooms but office had only one room reserved. Fortunately they had another room available but wanted to charge extra rate over what we booked. Finally relented to booked rate.
Review 42:Suite was new and clean. Nice restaurant.
Review 43:Asked for door to bathroom to be oiled -- never happened. Bed also squeaked (Unit G). Wi-fi needs more sophisticated security.
Review 44:Loved the water view the one night we were able to secure a waterfront room (Unit E)
Review 45:Not a lot really. Weather extremely cold as Nova Scotia is still in the grip of one of its worst winters in living memory so most of local amenities still shut.
Review 46:Lots of space, excellent fit out and great location overlooking the harbour. This was unit A with a full kitchen but be aware some units only have microwave cookers. Great staff and lovely welcome
Review 47:Very hard to check in. Had to go around back and find someone in the bar to help me. Front entrance door was locked. Frustrating
Review 48:Loved having two floors in the suite. Liked the lack of carpet, bed was incredible !
Review 49:No elevator up to room. Nightclub downstairs a worry, but we didn't hear it. Misleading to call our room a suite - it was a straight-forward room.
Review 50:Location, location, location! And an excellent room.
Review 51:The shower curtains were moldy! The jets of the tub were moldy. Are the shower curtains ever laundered? Do they know how to keep their tubs mold-free? It is dangerous, especially for ladies who could easily contract a vaginal fungus infection by bathing in the tub. The oil and decay smell from the beach is obvious in the corridor. A fan is needed.
Review 52:The physical facility has possibilities. But, this is not a place with class. I was surprised and disappointed. A little bit of THOUGHT can make this quite a good facility.
Review 53:We had a snow/ice storm and our stairs were not cleared till third day
Review 54:The accomodations were very clean and felt like home and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 55:Only negative was that we could only stay 2 nights! One suggestion: coffee table for the living room would be nice
Review 56:We stayed in the executive suite (suite D) and it was truly a fantastic room! Two levels: first floor has full kitchen, living area, big TV, sliding door to balcony - second floor has big bedroom with windows looking over the harbour, another TV and very nicely appointed bath with jetted tub. They were very welcoming to our little dog, which is appreciated. Well worth the extra money.
Review 57:We have nothing negative to say about the Dockside Suites.
Review 58:What a pleasant surprise when we went upstairs to see the suite! It was very spacious and clean. Everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 59:We had a problem with the alarm clock and they went out and bought us a new one and also gave us a wake up call to make sure we were able to catch the ferry. We had a full moon reflecting or the Bay of Fundy, room was great and the food and service in the restaurant was great.
Review 60:No free wifi.
Review 61:Very spacious 2 level suite on harbor. Super clean. Attached Funds restaurant on premises also quite good waitress Kim was very attentive.
Review 62:There was nothing for us to complain about. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Not a problem for us but something others may have to consider.
Review 63:We loved this place! The room was awesome. We loved the balcony overlooking the harbor. Watching the tides was a great experience as we had never been to the Bay of Fundy before. The location was perfect for walking around town.
Review 64:Not only did the room have a great view but there was an onsite bar, restaurant and club (if you need that sort of thing). It was a really nice stay over and I recommend it to anyone staying in Digby.
Review 65:There was no elevator and we had to register at the restaurant next door. Our room key was used to open the store front like door to get into the hotel.
Review 66:We liked the location and the view. The bed was comfortable and the balcony was a plus.
Review 67:Nothing at all.
Review 68:Dockside Suites is not much to look at from the outside (I'd wondered if we'd made a mistake booking there) but once inside, our suite was wonderful. Roomy, comfortable, everything you could need, and by far the best location and the best view in Digby.
Review 69:Had a room on the street side, which was ok, quiet, but there were not any windows that we could look out and receive some sunshine.
Review 70:The room was wonderful. Extremely well decorated, clean, and comfortable.
Review 71:Very expensive for one night. Room C had a terrible. Prices were more expensive than a downtown Toronto hotel.
Review 72:The location and staff were quite good. Very clean facilities
Review 73:The location was on the main street, with many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The view of the dock, from the balcony, was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The suite was comfortable and very clean.
Review 74:No elevator up to the rooms making getting bags to room quite difficult. Stairs are quite steep.
Review 75:Very nice spacious and modern room. Quiet environment and beautiful view.
Review 76:It was hot the night we were there and the air conditioning was not very strong. Also we got there early and would have liked to check in early but could not check in until exactly 3pm.
Review 77:The suite was beautiful and very comfortable with a nice kitchenette and wonderful view of the harbor.
Review 78:The same owners have a bar right next door. On Friday and Saturday nights the music and drunken youngsters out front make sleep impossible until about 2:30 a.m. We tried to call them around midnight, couldn't reach anybody, eventually had to call police to reduce noise level a bit. It's outrageous that they rent the place out on week-ends, sleeping is impossible. At least they refunded our stay.
Review 79:Right at the harbour, well appointed suite.
Review 80:Our room was supposed to have a balcony on the water, but they were fully booked and instead we had a room with a small window that looked out at the wall of the attached building.
Review 81:Everything, except the small window and view from the room..
Review 82:There was a smell in the stairs going up to the room. The room itself smelled very bad. We were told it was because people had been cooking, but the only way to cook was in a microwave so how there could be such a stench? It was impossible to breathe in the room. The person in charge put on an exhaust which was supposed to clear the air but did nothing. It smelt like rotting algae and lobster. We did get a discount, but if it hadn't been late at night on a holiday weekend we definitely would not have stayed and would have looked for another place.
Review 83:Room was clean and well presented.
Review 84:Food priced a little high for what you got, I had a scallop/shrimp dish with 2 scallops and 3 shrimp. It was good but not much food for the price. Service was slow as I believe they were under staffed. Prices higher than we saw in the rest of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton.
Review 85:Rooms were clean, comfortable and the place had a lot to offer in the small town of Digby! From the outside we were worried with the old dingy buildings, but suites were new, very clean and very nice!
Review 86:Parking was the only drawback but understandable because of the location of The Dockside Suites.0
Review 87:Service was outstanding! Rooms were well appointed and little touches to the rooms to make our stay more comfortable!
Review 88:nothing, it was all great
Review 89:Very comfortable, clean and great view. The weather did not work in our favour, however staying in Suite A made it a worth while stay
Review 90:We loved everything about Dockside Suites, a home away from home. Clean, comfortable, wonderful views, good food, good shopping, we couldn't have asked for more.
Review 91:Even though we warned about the band in the club below, the noise was quite disturbing. We cranked up the AC to try to mask it, but the drum beat and the rowdy drunks on the street below interrupted an otherwise lovely stay.
Review 92:Clean and comfortable suite with newly renovated finishes and appliances. Beautiful sunrises over the bay. Bikes and kayaks at our doorstep. Delicious dockside dinners just below.
Review 93:We travelled at the wrong time of year, so nothing was open!!!
Review 94:Lovely, clean apartments!
Review 95:Lots of steps to room.
Review 96:Pretty view of harbors. Great location.

Review 100:Great location and spacious room.
Review 101:Locations on water and walking distance to area. Restaurant excellent.
Review 102:The location is fine as long as Club 98 isn't open. The discodrum and leaving guests are terrible!
