Reviews for Hostal Castillo de Liliana

Review 1:- The mattress needs changing - Shower is small, very uncomfortable if you are tall

Review 2:- Very friendly and helpful staff - Location, near the local market

Review 3:The owner welcomed us with detail information of the surroundings, and prepare a bottle of hot water, tea and sugar etc that keep us warm for the night, the towels are very clean although the room is very basic and raw.

Review 4:The owner is super nice! We came back to town late and found that no restaurant or store were open at that time. So he made fried eggs for the five of us. It was delicious.

Review 5:Run down, staff not friendly. Some rooms have zero ventilation and simply stink from a lack of airflow.

Review 6:Reasonable Location. Breakfast was OK. WIFI was really good.

Review 7:There was no hot water. We had to take cold showers... and I mean COLD!!! Brr..

Review 8:The proprietors went above and beyond to try to help us out, allowing us to use the kitchen to boil some eggs before we left, and to negotiate a cab for us to a hotel that was out on the salt flats. The breakfast was better than most South American breakfasts with real scrambled eggs and fresh fruit, which was appreciated. So tired of the coffee and pastry usual breakfast in South America. The rooms are basic, but clean and well cared for. It's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel, but it was a good place to crash at 1 am when the train came in, get some breakfast and go. There is no air conditioning or heat in the hotel, so take that into consideration in the summer, but the walls are thick, and the temperature stayed pretty constant regardless. They provide heavy blankets for cold nights. Just so people are aware, the entire town is pretty third world, and the power went out for several hours while we were there through the whole town 3 days in a row. The salt flats are awesome, but the town itself is a bit dusty and run down. Go to Uyuni for the astounding natural beauty, not the town.

Review 9:The layout of the bathroom was functional but a bit cramped.

Review 10:Well situated in town. They actually brought us a television as well as a heater (nights are cold there). Breakfast was the usual, not fantastic, but good. They also indicated a wonderful restaurant for supper that was perfect!

Review 11:Bit pricey. Walls are damp and the air in the room smelled a bit of mould.

Review 12:Hot water in shower and even the washbasin. Heater and all toiletries are included in the price. Good mattress and pillow. Quiet at night. Close to bus "station". Excellent buffet breakfast.

Review 13:The room could do with a bit of a makeover and new curtains but it worked for a night.

Review 14:Good value for money in expensive Uyuni. Ensuite double room was ok but basic. Friendly staff on reception. Location was near the centre.

Review 15:Windows of rooms face inwards to the passage way, but not a deal breaker, just keep curtains close.

Review 16:Value for money! Specially as I wanted a private room and bathroom for 1 person. The immigration office is also in same building which makes it very convenient if you are taking the Uyuni Salt flats tour ending in Chile. Very nice breakfast as well,

Review 17:Expensive, but everything in Uyuni is quite expensive...

Review 18:Very good location, very central. The migration office to exit Bolivia in Uyuni (if you go on a tour) is in the hotel, which is very handy! Simple but nice breakfast. Provided a heater for free.

Review 19:Water pressure a bit low, but it was fine.

Review 20:Staff is really nice and helpfull! Room was pleasant! Staff really helped with booking train tickets. Allowed us to come back after 3 days trip to the salar, and use yhe shower, toilet, power, wifi for 10 bol. Each.

Review 21:Room was very tatty, holes in the walls were filled with tissue and plastic bags. Shower was weak and tepid. Breakfast was stale bread and cold eggs. Quite expensive for what you get (but the whole of Uyuni the same). Generally quite a grimy feel about the whole hostal (and town).

Review 22:Not much to like. Owner turned out to be friendly and a grumpy start.

Review 23:I can't speak for all the rooms, but the single room on the first floor was pretty old, run down and in need of some cleaning. the bed was terrible and the room was musty and airless

Review 24:the location was good, HOT water, ok wifi, heater included

Review 25:Nothing. After the reviews of other hostel from some travellers we met, this seems to be the best place in Uyuni.

Review 26:When you arrive you find a kind man at the reception that will be your best consultant for your stay in Uyuni and to move around (ask him about the best bus companies etc.). The room was clean and comfortable. Hot water and great breakfast, more than an hostel it looks like an hotel at the best value.

Review 27:not the best value for money Room quite gloomy Had to sit in shower to avoid water going everywhere

Review 28:Pleasantly surprised for uyunyi Welcome stop after salt flats Hot water

Review 29:Dark, dreary, cold rooms (ask for a space heater). Bathrooms are not clean...pulled a huge wad of hair out of the shower drain. Yuck. Not worth the money. If you do have to stay here, try to get a room with tile, not carpet.

Review 30:Fresh squeezed orange juice with the breakfast. Free luggage storage. Staff is (sort of) friendly.

Review 31:the toilet and garbage were not clean and so the bathroom stunk. The carpet of the room smelled like cat pee. It was so bad I kept my shoes on the whole time.

Review 32:the breakfast was great. the room was spacious.

Review 33:Bathroom had the most rank smell so we had to quickly close it or it would stink out the room. Triple room was tiny and we literally had to step over our backs to get out of the room.

Review 34:The location was covenient being super close to the centre of town and bus area. Shower was warm and they gave you a clean towel and soap and shampoo. Room came with a padlock for the door. Internet was decent on level two.

Review 35:The Room downstairs had a poor Wifi Signal, but the Reception Man offered me to move to another room. And this room had a strong and good Wifi.

Review 36:Friendly Staff, helped me to get the perfect Wifi Signal. So I had strong Wifi afterall. Clean Bathroom Warm bed.

Review 37:The shower wets the entire bathroom and it doesn't really dry.

Review 38:Good central location. Reliable hot water and lots of blankets on the beds. Free breakfast was adequate.

Review 39:Music blasting out early in the morning. Shower impossible to use without flooding bathroom. Beds crammed into room.

Review 40:Beds quite comfortable, shampoo provided. Good WiFi

Review 41:Way overprized! The mirror and towels weren't looking clean. The bathroom did not have a showercurtain, so everything got wet. The water wasn't really warm. The pick up from the airport was way too expensive as well. The second night in Uyuni we slept in a much nicer place for half the money (Avenida Hostel).

Review 42:Fresh orange juice at breakfast, nice! Small heater in the bedroom.

Review 43:Nothing that wouldn't apply to any place in Uyuni.

Review 44:While it looked cold and dingy, it was clean, and with the heater and warm blankets, comfortable enough. Breakfast was pretty decent and plentiful.

Review 45:Owner was a bit pushy on booking a tour with her, which was also more expensive than the tour companies. Don't be pushed into booking anything before going into town.

Review 46:Comfortable room, hot shower, heater in room and lots of blankets. Fairly central location.

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Hostel is clean, staff very helpful, location very good, got hot water even when it was not supposed to have, hostel works with a conpany they can propose you but don't try to much to sell their tour.

Review 49:Hot water is only available for a few hours a day which meant that we were unable to have a hot shower during our stay because of the time we arrived and the time we had to leave. Because of the time it takes to get to Uyuni we didn't have a hot shower for four days. It was really cold at night and after our trip to the salt flats so a hot shower would have been nice. The breakfast was pretty average. We stayed in cheaper accommodation that was better during out travels.

Review 50:The wifi was quite quick and it was in a good location.

Review 51:We had chosen hostels with kitchen to have the option to cook, and when we got there the kitchen was in maintenance. The internet wifi not picked up in many places, only in reception.

Review 52:The location of the hostel was excellent, and next to the center and also the travel agencies. The breakfast also very good and complete. The shower was hot, the room was neat and organized. Very confortable.

Review 53:not a very attractive atmosphere (but what is attractive in Uyuni city?) Lady at reception doesn't speak english but if you're lucky there is a guy who does.

Review 54:Good wi-fi Hot shower Migration office next door (basically at the same place) useful for Uyuni trip ending in Chili) Very Nice breakfast!

Review 55:Rooms and bed not very comfortable, might be cold with outdated and potentially dangerous electric heaters.

Review 56:Excellent breakfast, good location, nice staff

Review 57:cold at night, but that's uyuni. the heater we got worked though. unfortunately the only plug was at the far end of the room so we couldn't move the heater closer to our beds.

Review 58:warm water in the shower, fresh orange juice

Review 59:breakfast with eggs was ok..electric heater very small, but works..never turn it off, tooks a few hours to warm up the room....if you haven`t started your trip to bolivia...i recommed a different country...bolivia isn`t that nice....or travel there with car, not like us with bus..1 week is enoght for it.....enjoy....

Review 60:Uyuni is a cold place, rooms are cold but they provide heaters. Warm water only on special times but this is clearly indicated in the reception and did not come as a surprise.

Review 61:Very helpful and friendly staff, helped us get a tour of the salar, giving good and useful advice. Breakfast is great. 2 mins walk to centre.

Review 62:The room was freezing and they had no hot water the morning we arrived, but then they had hot water again in the afternoon.

Review 63:The staff were so lovely, the woman got up realy early to greet us and make sure we settled in s we arrived so early, the place is an easy 5min walk from central plaza and train station, they gave us extra blankets and did our laundry super quick. They make a real effort with breakfast with scrambled eggs and nice juice, teas and yoghurt.

Review 64:Room was extremely cold. Uyuni is cold anyway and the room had lots of windows which weren't fitted well meaning the room was freezing!!

Review 65:Good location. Fine for one night and good value but wouldn't stay longer.

Review 66:This is the worst hostel we have stayed in so far. The room was veryvery cold, the bed sagged in the middle, the promised hot shower neverworked and the staff seemed totally clueless. The wifi was fair toaverage and the breakfast which is on the top floor is ok. Our stay wasmade worse by some drunk ringing the door bell at 4.00am in the morningwanting access to the migration office which is next door. No staffanswered the door so we had to get up otherwise the door bell ringingcould have gone all night. Yep we chose this hostel based on price andat $180 peso's it cheaper than most, now you know why.

Review 67:The room can't be worse.

Review 68:Great service and a really good breakfast!

Review 69:Wifi worked pretty well. When it stopped the guy at the front desk rebooted the router straight away.

Review 70:Unacceptable! 35$!!!!No way! Shame on booking.com!

Review 71:Nothing at all!

Review 72:Good location

Review 73:Great Friendly staff at reception, very helpful. Clean room and bathroom

Review 74:Everything was OK

Review 75:Very friendly stuff

Review 76:Good location. Good value for the money. Well-working wifi and kind owner.

Review 77:Great place! They have a rooftop terrace where you can hang out. It is situated in the middle between main square and bus terminal. WiFi is fast!

Review 78:Good breakfast and fast WiFi.

Review 79:Clean and nice room, Very good WIFI by Bolivian standards, breakfast. A good value choice before or after a Salar de Uyuni Tour

Review 80:broken wifi. breakfast was very simple. the room was very cold and bed was uncomfortable.

Review 81:hot shower

Review 82:Great staff..English was spoken

Review 83:Great help from owner !

Review 84:Not a great bathroom.

Review 85:Good location in uyuni near buses. Man in hostel was really nice and helpful. Little yard to sit in.

Review 86:No place to hang or put things in room. Small room.

Review 87:A good place to stay one night before or after the Uyuni. Good breakfast. Nice hot shower.

Review 88:great breakfast. helpful staff. expensive for bolivia but was worth it.

Review 89:Staff were extremely friendly in making our stay comfortable! We were even able to check in at 1.30am!

Review 90:Breakfast is better than other hostels, they provide fried eggs and fresh juice

Review 91:Generous breakfast, hot showers (important in a cold and sandy place - coming back from 3 days Uyuni tour).

Review 92:very nice owner and helpful staff. a few minutes walk from bus stop.

Review 93:Good location, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice view from rooftop...would stay again

Review 94:Real hot shower and real wifi. Breakfast with fresh orange juice served. Walking distance to the bus terminal to and from La Paz.

Review 95:The hot water is available between 7-23, but it is very good. Also the heater in the room was great. Perfect stay.

Review 96:Dirty, very small 3 beed room (announced with 30 qm, had not more than 15qm ) without windows

Review 97:fresh orange juice for breakfast

Review 98:location, price

Review 99:Cleanliness

Review 104:We were allowed to get in at 6 am without ekstra charge.
