Reviews for Fields of Gold

Review 1:Having to leave

Review 2:Outstanding service, cleanliness and facilities. The room is large and very comfortable. The bed provided the best nights sleep I've had in ages. Breakfast was amazing. Only a few minutes walk from the Menin Gates.

Review 3:Alarm went off in the middle of the night and nobody came to switch it off, so we had a very bad night

Review 4:The breakfast was particularly nice. Excellent standard of cleanliness. Comfortable bed.

Review 5:No problems.

Review 6:Owners are a charming and friendly young couple. Room and bath very spacious. Outstanding breakfast. Location excellent for proximity to major attractions.

Review 7:Nothing.

Review 8:We stayed in the Queen of Water room which was really spacious with a huge stand alone roll top bath big enough for two. Surround sound in all rooms, fridge and two balconies with table and chairs was a luxury. Breakfasts were amazing. Organic local produce, choice of breads and pastries which included butter, coffee jams and fruit juices. Such dedication to selective produce should be applauded as so many other places are let down by their lack of attention to detail. The bed was the most comfortable ever slept in! Tempur mattress queen size. Truly felt like a five star hotel.

Review 9:The hosts were wonderful, warm, helpful and friendly; we felt so welcome. The optional breakfasts were special - simple foods carefully and stylishly presented. The room and its modern facilities were above expectations.

Review 10:Nothing!

Review 11:Everything was perfect, the attention to detail was second to none and the icing on the cake was the integral music system which played in every room! We loved every minute we spent there and will definitely be going back!

Review 12:Room. nice but on third floor under roof. No lift but have to climb 5 narrow stairs (56 steps) . No breakfast on the premises available but have to make your own in the kitchenette or go to a caffee at 10 minutes walk. No cleaning service, no phone Velux store not working. Had booked for one week but left after 3 days. My stay was a nightmare!

Review 14:Anyone who has met Peiter would agree he is the most wonderful host who goes to great lengths to ensure your stay in Ypres is a memorable one. The Fields of Gold and Ypres were a standout memory of our holiday,

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Pieter and Natalie were the perfect hosts and made our stay truly memorable. Their ethos is clear to see and they have created a beautiful tranquil environment to relax.

Review 17:Excellent location and room fitted out to a high standard.Owners very helpful and friendly - relaxing place to stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Review 18:The breakfast was lovely and everything was freshly prepared however we did not find out until after accepting that breakfast cost €10 per person.

Review 19:The room was stunning with 2 balconys, a gorgeous bath with bath salts made the room smell Devine.

Review 20:I cannot say enough good things about our stay at B&B Fields of Gold. The owners were absolutely wonderful and thoughtful. The room was beyond what we could have expected. The breakfast was outstanding, and in fact our favorite meal from our entire vacation.

Review 21:There was no milk with the Tea and Coffee making facilities meaning we couldn't enjoy a cupper in the morning. And the shower is an over-bath shower but with no curtain so you have to sit down to shower and clear up the water on the floor afterwards. Also they don't serve breakfast on Mondays and Tuesdays, you have to find somewhere in town.

Review 22:Pieter and Natalie were fantastic hosts. The rooms are large with high ceilings and an airy feel. The bed was so comfortable and the breakfast interesting but very good, not your typical breakfast. The position of the B&B, only 5 minutes from the centre of Ypres, was perfect.

Review 23:Booking.com site did not explain that breakfast was not available on Monday & Tuesday.

Review 24:Location close to historic town centre. Private and comfortable. Building full of character. Spar mini-market next door.

Review 25:We loved the beautifully presented rooms. The apartment had a cosy modern country feel and was very comfortable. There was everything you could need and more all put together tastefully and with much thought. Pieter and Natalie are just lovely caring hosts. Just a short stroll and you were in the centre of town. I loved it and wished I could have stayed longer. We shall be back one day.

Review 26:Having to leave!! Ladies the stairs to the second floor are narrow in tread so I would suggest flat shoes and change into high once you are at ground level!

Review 27:Central location, excellent restaurants within walking distance. The calming and relaxing environment is most enjoyable. The facility has all you could want, fridge, cooker, coffee machine. So comfortable.

Review 28:Attention to detail, Natalie and Pieter were very welcoming and took the time to show us everything in detail. They had some great recommendations for restaurants and pubs in the area. We thought it was very good value for money considering other places we've stayed. Would highly recommend.

Review 29:Communication before and during stay should have been better. Did not reply to emails till day before arrival even though they had been sent well over a month ahead. Not providing breakfast on Monday and Tuesday was not good and not providing suggested alternative breakfast place till Monday evening was also not good.

Review 30:The breakfast were a delight but are not provided Monday and Tuesday. Staff are also a delight. Position close Main Square excellent.

Review 31:We had a lovely relaxed stay in a beautiful room, memory foam king sized bed. En suite with sitting room, with a terrace. Breakfasts superb and good value. Our hosts were friendly and helpful.

Review 32:We were in the loft room which was very spacious and open plan. We felt that a lot of thought had gone into the planning of the room to ensure most if not all needs are met.

Review 33:Not applicable

Review 34:Perfect location . Lovely room with stunning bathroom. Truly delicious breakfast . Made to feel very welcome. Would recommend to anyone visiting Yores.

Review 35:Visitors with mobility issues might struggle with the stairs to the suite

Review 36:Amazing breakfast -a gastronomic experience! Lovely suite -spacious and comfortable

Review 37:This accomodation is beautifully presented by a delightful couple. Situated in the centre of Ypres the perfect location for our visit. Breakfast was outstanding beautifully presented delicious food. We will definitely be returning.

Review 38:Friendly and helpful owner, exquisite furnitures, inspiring room decoration, comfortable bed, bathroom, the attention to all the details of the things in the room particularly eco-friendly products and all-round music system, great location close to Cloth Hall and Beautiful building. We stayed 2 nights with our child to see the cats festival "Kattenstoet" and on our way back to Germany we visited Pairi Daiza (Zoo) in Brugelette which was recommended by the owner we had a lot of fun! We would highly recommend Fields of Gold.

Review 39:Can't think of anything we didn't like.

Review 40:We stayed here for two nights while doing a Western Front tour through France and Belgium. The location is within easy walking distance from the Menin Gate and central Ypres. It was very clean and comfortable. The couple who owned the B&B were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was great too. Loved it and would definitely stay here again.

Review 41:Quality fixtures and Fittings. Extremely helpful and friendly proprietors Excellent location, five minute walk from main square. Would highly recommend!

Review 42:The care and attention to detail from hosts Pieter and Natalie. The room was fantastic and the breakfast amazing - a real treat. Felt more like a mini spa weekend, rather than just a trip away.

Review 43:this hotel is simply stunning. The host/owner goes the extra mile and was so helpful with attention to detail throughout. When arriving we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite as it was my partners 30th birthday. We were greeted with a hot drink and she gave us a town map and pointed out all the good restaurants etc. The room itself was beautiful, a big loft conversion, nigh ceilings free standing bath and a huge comfy memory foam mattress. This hotel has so many little touches that make it simply perfect. I honestly would say this is the nicest and moat comfortable hotel I've ever stayedin. I feel asuassured that even if we weren't upgraded our standard double room.would of been just as comfortable. The breakfast is lovely too.

Review 44:ok for us but it does not have a lift.

Review 45:Fabulous B & B Natalie and Pieter were fabulous hosts. the apartments were stunning and comfortable and quite high tech loved it would totally recommend Fields of Gold

Review 46:The attention to detail and finish of the rooms is excellent. Pieter & Natalie make you feel very welcome and make an especially great breakfast. A fantastic place to relax.

Review 47:There was nothing i didn't like it was lovely

Review 48:The couple that own the BB were lovely nothing was to much to help you I would recommend this place to anyone

Review 49:Pieter and Natalie are perfect hosts. The bedroom was very comfortable with an adjoining kitchenette and beautiful bathroom. Natalie prepares an amazing breakfast! A great place to stay for exploring WWI sites and the Menin Gate.

Review 50:An amazing bedroom with a stand alone double bath at the foot of the bed!! A place to totally relax with around sound music and aromatherapy products. Breakfast was varied and excellent value for money. Book ahead if you want a car parking space.

Review 51:We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely B&B. It is in an ideal location in Ieper and we were able to easily arrange parking with the owners ahead of time. We opted for breakfast which was delicious and well worth the priace! There is a very close market if you prefer to cook yourself. Highly recommended!

Review 52:Can't think of one thing to record as a down side just great place to stay

Review 53:The attention to detail just shows from the moment you are met at the door to the time you have to leave. One of the best places I have ever stayed thinking of going to Ypres again but mainly so we can stay at fields of gold again.

Review 54:Not enough drawers for clothes, only one bedside table and lamp, no carpets in hallways - results in noise when people are moving about.

Review 55:Friendly hosts, great location (walking distance of all areas of Ypres, clean rooms, superb bath.

Review 56:Road busy during the day, though very quiet after 8:30pm. Parking is now limited in Ypres to 3 hours in all public parking areas except for the out-of-town park and ride. Therefore need to pay a bit extra for a reserved parking space that the owners rent.

Review 57:Very central, 10 minute walk to the Menin Gate, 5 minutes to the main square. Friendly owners. Spacious rooms, enormous bed, super bathroom. Wonderful breakfast.

Review 58:Nothing -it was all amazing!

Review 59:We booked this the day before and Pieter couldn't have been more welcoming. The room was amazing and we couldn't believe we'd paid so little for such an amazing place. We encourage you to book - you won't be disappointed!

Review 60:Excellent location, only a few mintutes walk to the Menim Gate, hosts Pieter and Natalie couldn't be more helpful, our room was large, comfortable and had everything you could wish for, even a view of the top of the Menim Gate

Review 61:The traffic noise was a little more than expected, but it is a City centre and it was a very busy weekend with lots going on.

Review 62:We liked everything about the accommodation, particularly the sound system and bathroom.

Review 63:Great friendly welcome, gave us a cup of tea on arrival, then helped us upstairs with our bags. This B&B has the highest room spec we have encountered. Great Kitchen with dishwasher and fridge, Big bathroom and shower. Piped music from virtually any radio station in the world, so listened to our Home radio station in NZ. Good range of TV channels including English, also organised cheap offstreat parking.

Review 64:Not enough pots and pans etc. to be a serious self catering option(should you want to) Good double glazed windows don't blot out a crescendo of noise from vehicle tyres on Belgian pave.

Review 65:Exquisite decoration and lighting. Excellent bed and mattress. Very good appliances in kitchen.

Review 66:What's not to like! :)

Review 67:Pieter and Natalie, made us very welcome and we had an amazing room which was more like an apartment and included a huge bathroom with a free standing roll top bath. We loved the Eco friendly environment and the clear commitment by both Pieter and Natalie, including their shop which is on the ground floor where we bought goods for our own home. Natalie prepared a 'special' breakfast which was varied and tasty. This was a great base to explore Flanders and we would highly recommend to anyone when looking for a place to stay in Ypres. We will definitely be returning. Thanks Pieter and Natalie for a wonderful stay!:)

Review 68:The long hike up the stairs, 58 steps, ending with a spiral section at the top. Difficult for some older peope perhaps. The toilet door didn't quite fit and we would have liked a little more privacy in the shower. The facilities, were excellent.

Review 69:The breakfast was a culinary work of art. A different, tasty experience every day, beautifully served, and, at the end of the holistic shop, very interesting. The bed was heavenly and the bedroom spaciois and airy. The air of serenity and peace was a contemplative joy.

Review 70:The beautiful scents. The calmness, even in a busy city. The charming hosts. The delicious breakfast. The room, more like an apartment and a lovely space to be in. Sitting on my own balcony, in the sunshine, with a glass of wine.

Review 71:nothing. it was superb.

Review 72:the hotel is unique. The fixtures and fittings are from a bygone era and everything is eco friendly.Superb in room sound system , fabulous walk in shower with two shower heads and also a kitchen in our room. The kids room had a lovely balcony. Not friendly to those with limited mobility.

Review 73:The owners of this establishment were very attentive and tried very hard to make us welcome. The breakfast was very good and the place had been refurbished to a high standard. On the day we left we were able to leave our luggage their while we visited the museums.

Review 74:No air condition or small fan in sleeping area.
