Reviews for Astera Hotel & Spa - Ultra All Inclusive

Review 1:If you are thinking of staying here please understand: - the hotel is not on the beach. The beach is across the road and the hotel simply has a roped off area of the public beach for the use of guests. The beach is one of the dirtiest I have ever seen. The sand is full of cigarrette butts. You cannot dig one handful of sand without it being full of cigarrette butts. Due to the nature of the majority of the guests at this hotel, almost everyone smokes on the beach which makes it uncomfortable for families with small children. - There are no healthy meal options for children at meal times. The 'kids' options' are usually fries and some other deep fried dishes. - There are no playground facilities for children, either at the hotel, or on the beach. - Location: I would not describe the location of this hotel as family friendly. It is primarily a location for alcohol tourism. The clubs and bars across the street play extremely loud music all day and night until dawn, which means you cannot open your balcony door as you will be bombarded by this music. After dark, the streets are full of drunk, loud, mostly german tourists on alcohol holidays. - There were quite a few guests who stayed at this hotel at the same time we did who had very little manners and were generally very unpleasant. We left the indoor swimming pool because our 1 year old was being splashed and bumped around by older kids - with their parents looking on not caring at all. I won't go into details of nationalities but there was a common trend as to the origins of the more unpleasant guests. It is an unavoidable facts that your fellow guests significantly influence the quality of a hotel stay, and at this location there were just too many unpleasant, rude guests. In summary I won't be returning to this hotel or region. There are far more pleasant similar holiday destinations for the same price in Croatia, Crete, Montenegro or Turkey.

Review 2:- Room was large and comfortable - Self service alcohol means no long queues at bars - Self service bar conveniently located at beach area - Kids enjoyed mini disco - Staff were generally helpful

Review 3:- no sanitizing measures implemented at all (people leaving the toilet without washing the hands, entering in the restaurants; a barman doing the same, going directly to the bar counter to serve the guests; no sanitizing gel or wipes in any of the spaces - rooms cleaning - there is too much to be said here... - mini bar in the room - only water - noise during the night, even the room was not facing directly the main street - room view - facing towards garbage bins and recipients - even they look nice, the general aspect of the restaurants was like canteens (UAI) - no a la carte restaurant - pool table and sticks - very poor - tennis table bats - disaster - indoor pool - drain channels full of hair - exterior pool - water a little bit too cold (probably a way not to have it busy) - gym equipment - soon an accident is going to happen - policy not to reserve the sunbeds at the pool is not followed - staff - standard is still low for 4 stars - no comment card at the end

Review 4:- general aspect of the room (except daily room cleaning) - food and drinks variety - entertainment activities - close to the beach - internet available in the room (even by cable) and reasonable wi-fi in the lobbies

Review 5:The Internet connection works just on cable, on a laptop, in the rooms, In the public places the wifi isnt very strong. There arent sufficient food choices and there are days when the main courses are really bad.

Review 6:The rooms, the pool and the spa center, the club

Review 7:cocktails not up to much but other drinks great.

Review 8:Location is excellent, food was varied daily, breakfast was excellent, different , rooms big, says mini bar is included but only a bottle of water, bathroom modern and clean.

Review 9:All in all a real nightmare. We had to leave after one night as the windows were literally trembling non-stop from 11am to 4am (techno music from differ pubs around the hotel) 'It's always party here', that's the explanation we got at the reception. All staff we met was extremely unprofessional, The endless difficulties we encountered when checking in, checking out, parking or just getting a drink are too many to be explained here. As the guests were mainly groups of drunk teenagers everywhere was dirty, especially the swimming pool. The 'all inclusive' beverages were simply undrinkable. The sourroundings of the hotel are equally awful and follow the same logic (a real contrast with nearby beautiful Varna)

Review 10:Room, facilities, swimming pools, everything very good and far above average. Breakfast and dinner were ok. Pity that everything else here is seriously wrong. This hotel mainly caters for groups of teenagers coming to get drunk for a few euros. If you don't fall within this category, escape from here as fast as you can!

Review 11:The worst food i have ever eaten. The bathroom smelled very bad. We had to wait for the elevator more then 10 minutes to go up or down.

Review 12:The room was very big . Close to the beach.

Review 13:The cookies, almost the same at every meal, were not good. The first room we stayed in, for disabled persons was not properly adapted, the special bathroom chair couldn't be used and for my assistant it was very uncomfortable as there was no bathtub. All the water was going in the whole bath during shower, not a good system at all. The special room was not cleaned, dust was all over the place, although the reception said we needed to wait to check in especially for the room to be cleaned. The furniture was not quite nice as in the other rooms, was quite outdated compared to the second room we stayed in( standard room). For a disabled person in wheelchair its's impossible to go to the beach. The hotel did not made a wooden path to be able to reach the beach beds. And also, unlike other hotels, the free area (for bedsheets users) was in the first line near the sea and after that, there were the beds with umbrellas, quite far. There were no snacks at the beach bar, only drinks. The Arrogance club could not be accessed with the elevator from the basement of the hotel as mentioned and at the outside entrance was extremely crowded. The bed matress in the room was too soft and quite uncomfortable and very thin.

Review 14:The room facilities were good in the second room we moved in. The view from the large windows was great to the sea area. The room was clean with one bottle of 1.5 L water in the minibar for free, one per day. The food was varied, even Chinese. Besides the fruits that were very fresh and sweet, the cookies were not good. The food in general was ok. I think 80% of the hotel turists were Romanian.

Review 15:The people from the reception took our id's for registration and they were returned only during the next day.

Review 16:The room was nice, clean and large. A wide range of TV channels available.

Review 17:No wireless internet. Food was not extraordinary, but it was edible. The beach was not in front of the hotel, but a good 5 minutes walk among street shops.Beach bar was very poorly stocked. Hotel full of families with toddlers and young children who were everywhere unattended, making noise and stuffing their hands directly in the food platters....

Review 18:Big, beautiful room, clean and with a huge bathroom. Private beach. Nice, not very crowded pool. Underground parking. Very close to the beach and great position in the resort.

Review 19:the wi fi doesn't work in the room or at the pool

Review 20:they surprised us with a bottle of champagne for my husband's birthday, the food is very good

Review 21:The one layer toilet paper xD And i have to say the wifi was crowded; they should close it with a code (its even possible to get signal on the beach).

Review 22:The location was perfect, first street on the beach, close to shopping and bars. Ultra inclusive is really ultra; it even includes beer and towels on the beach. The food is absolutely fine, desserts are crazy jummy :) I sort of lost my phone (doh!), the staff found it and returned it at the reception ^^,

Review 23:Number of elevators simply not enough for the size of the hotel. Poor meals and drinks.

Review 24:Decent 4 stars hotel, good position, clean and good taste arrangements. Big enough private beach with included sunbeds and umbrellas. Large rooms (we stayed in a superior double)

Review 25:No free wifi. The picture of the bathroom wasnt the same as the room. Vitamin bar not free yet on info page it did mot mention about it being not inclusive in price. Repetitive breakfast menu and very mimimum of fruit.

Review 26:All inclusive OK with drinks but the food very moderate. At the start of season all personal was training and like their first working day. In August maybe all goes better. No WiFi in the room.

Review 27:Ultra modern and large room with nice balcony and seaview. Very relaxing. AC and minibar working well, good beddings. Wery nice hotel, maybe too noisy on peak season.

Review 28:The room is cleaned only at explicit request; drinks are only at dispenser and not very good, except for wine and beer.

Review 29:The hotel has nice facilities (spa centre and pool, restaurants, bars) and incredible large rooms with comfortable beds. The food is good, sometimes excellent. Snacks (fruits and cookies) are available at any time in the bars area. The 2 restaurants are nice and clean. The hotel has nearby access to the beach. Interesting animation both for childern and adults.

Review 30:I did not like the fact that staff clearing the plate had the same circuit as people getting their food ... Food should have been placed in the middle to avoid bumping each other ...as for wifi , this could be extended to the rooms like most 4 stars hotels worldwide ... Other than that I was satisfied with the service level and would recommend

Review 31:Spar, gym facilities and swimming pool and the fact that they have private beach with life guard who seemed overly concerned and kept whistling people to get out of the water ... It is reassuring to know that the hotel take seriously health and safety matters ...

Review 32:We were really disappointed over food quality and taste in both restaurants. Also choice of dishes is not that wide.

Review 33:We were a group of friends staying for 3 nights in Astera. Hotel has great location and it is a very decent 4* hotel with nice beach near by. Rooms are spacious and clean, modern equipment.

Review 34:Meals: very limited assortment, poor to zero bio/ organic meal, very poor deserts (e.g. in 10 days only some cheap fruits, ice-cream with chocolate always running out and never been refilled, cheap & artificial cakes). In general very poor lunch and dinner. Just breakfast was sometimes satisfactory. Restaurant staff (Rustic and Aqua): unprofessional (closing the door of the restaurant with 15 minutes before closing time, taking the plates from your table without asking), similar to a ordinary cafeteria/ canteen. It seems that the staff was hired just for season, with low salaries and no incentives. They showed minimum to no care for their customers. Nobody to train them or at least to supervise and try to improve their behavior. Beach with no real beach bar (just an ugly booth, with beer and sodas post-mixers) open from 10 AM to 6 PM. No coffee for mornings, beach boys starting to pack up/ arrange for next day the beach chairs at 6 PM, without caring for the tourists. Overview: too expensive hotel for what services delivers, unprofessional staff, poor services and amenities, treating tourists with low consideration.

Review 35:Room facilities Cleanliness Partially, the beach

Review 36:1. Very bad quality of food, especialy for breakfast (cheap salami and meat), cheese without teste. Some pizza or toasts made with salami left from the perious days. A lot of junk food (cheap sausages, burgers and minced meat). 2. Drinks undrinkable - from all inclusive bad we couldn't drink anything; beer with 2% alcohol, poor quality wine - full of sugar, cheapeast soft drinks ever. I don't know how can they put Pepsi brand on it. 3. Our 1 year old baby had diarrhea and body full of bumps. 4. The room was clean only on our special request. We went with our 1 year old baby and we had to go to reception every 2 days to ask them to clean the room and to take out the garbage with dirty pampers. 5. The sheets were not changed for a full week. 6. Terrible noise during day and night. The music from the hotel terase and other terases was very loud. The baby woke up a few times a night crying becouse of the loud music.

Review 37:close to beach

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:everything

Review 40:Room

Review 41:No wifi in the room, only downstairs ,but very weak.

Review 42:Great hotel, beautiful location ,close to all amenities.

Review 43:Very slow free Internet

Review 44:Room,location, spa,food, private beach

Review 45:- clean hotel - good food, variety, plenty fresh fruits and vegetables - super animation team (kids and grown ups) - nice staff

Review 46:noise from outside disco kept us awake until 5am

Review 47:location

Review 48:Staff English level almost 0 ; Though I requested a room on upper level nobody read the reservation.

Review 49:Good location

Review 50:not tasty food

Review 51:the hotel is clean and bright

Review 52:not too diversified food not too tasty food

Review 53:The room was clean and nice and well positioned; friendly staff

Review 54:Everything

Review 55:I wanted a queen bed not a double like i asked, and the drinks is a little high alcohool

Review 56:The fact that they knew about the problem with room 703 from the start.

Review 57:Everything else was ok.

Review 58:Very little public transport

Review 59:Location, food, facilities in hotel, facilities outside hotel, staff very friendly

Review 60:guest over indulging at meal times,

Review 61:everthing

Review 62:Very good location and good food i like very much the erea there and the private beach is very good also

Review 63:very good value for money. location great. Room nice and spacious. Food good.

Review 64:Low quality of beer and wine. Lack of Bulgarian newspapers.

Review 65:Location, Parking lot, Varied and balanced food.

Review 66:The spa service

Review 67:Animation, food, location ...

Review 68:Beach is a little bit far from hotel, the bar on the beach is poor.

Review 69:Position of the hotel in the village, the relaxing room inside, the room, drinks.

Review 70:Nothing

Review 71:Everything!

Review 72:it's a good place to stay (location wise, facilities, services...)

Review 73:The towels weren't changed when placed on the bathroom floor, just picked up, folded and placed as if clean on the towel rack.

Review 74:Excellent value for money, staff was very friendly and helpful, comfortable room, good food, safe underground parking, free internet in the room. Hotel beach is close and clean. Would be perfect if the wireless range was extended in the pool area.

Review 75:Food is not very qualitative. The quality of snack is really bad - oranges were rotten, beer and wine not possible to drink. The hotel doesn't have rooms with matrimonial bed, so we slept on 2 twin beds joind together, while blankets were separate. Also the bed sheets are old and need to be changed.

Review 76:We appreaciated the location - close to the beach. Staff was nice and trying always to help.

Review 77:The personnel from the reception desk was horrible. They barely speakenglish, and if you have any problem, they just stare somewhere blankand wait for you to go away. They do not even bother to offer change ata cash payment (event if it is a few leva, it should be my decision tooffer them, not theirs to take). We had to change our room because ofthe club at the ground floor which bothers the hotel's customersuntil 4 am in the morning, we could barely sleep at the second floorbecause of the noise. In our first room, the toilet wasn't evenbrushed (ramasesera vestigii de la ultimul utilizator). Really shamefulfor a 4* hotel ! In our second room, the internet did not work. Overall,I would not recommend this hotel.

Review 78:The big rooms with direct view to the sea. The food was ok.It has aprivate beach, which is included in the services. Parking at thehotel is free.

Review 79:The sheslongs were deployed to far from the mother hotel. It`s a little bit frustrates me. So, by the way, the reception persons were very busy some time and tryed to ignore several guests. It had looks very unpolite!

Review 80:All the services were excellent. Very good location, good SPA -saloon, not far from the beach.

Review 81:Poor lightning in the room ( very pretty but could use an extra light) and no wifi in the room. Still a great choice of hotel

Review 82:Great location, friendly staff, good food, good drinks, free beach chairs and umbrella. Great value for the money.

Review 83:street noise - it is not the given hotel but general Bulgarian or vulgarian - too loud, and up to 4 a.m.

Review 84:Excellent food what is not so common for all-inclusive. Location - just hundred meters from own beach

Review 85:I did not like though the cold water in the outside swimming pool and the cigarettes on the beach :(.

Review 86:I really enjoyed the food, that was very tasty, and the easy access to the sea and the private beach .

Review 87:Maybe the air conditioning might have been turned off in the aqua restaurant every once in a while. It could get really chilly... But that's nothing, really...

Review 88:Location, services, everything was good.

Review 89:Because of the affordable price, the hotel accepts guests with no manners. In our first day, my daughter's slippers dissappeared (at the inside swimming pool).

Review 90:The report price-cost is very good. The hotel is real 4* in all parts: food, rooms, spa. We booked all inclusive system which is more than you need includind drinks, towels, umbrella, sunbed on the beach. The rooms are big, the bed is big enought for 8 people to sleep (we were 4 / 2 ad. + 2 children) I fully recommand this hotel.

Review 91:- free WiFi is only in the lobby not in the rooms - the gym has very old and some nonfunctional equipment - at arrival I had to wait almost until 15:00 PM to receive the room

Review 92:- the food was great and variate, I even ate shark meat in one evening - very close to the beach - the beach had great and comfortable chairs - everything you need is at your disposal change of towels you use on the beach, water, juice, cocktails, fruits, croissants - nice staff, English speaker - pool parties with animators, lots and fun games

Review 93:We had to get out of the sea because of the waves, although they were not so big. Juices had bad taste.

Review 94:Clean, good food, subterranean parking, gym, nice large room, close to the beach.

Review 95:On see side the staff served the Beer on small plastic cups. ( the size for beer was run out of stock for 2 Days.)

Review 96:It was beautiful . Superb , and we had a great time. Everything was perfect. A luxury place . ( on the see side/beach , there were missing ice cream for children).

Review 97:I lived on the six floor facing the beach. Just opposit the sex shop anddisco on the beach. I found it deeply distressing to be subjected to ahuge noise coming from the beach disco starting at 3pm which didn'tstop until 4am the next day. Couldn't sleep throughout my stay andeventually had to change the room. It seems the management of this hoteltook under consideration everything apart from respecting peace andprivacy of their clients.

Review 98:Spa is fantastic. Great design, helpful staff, good quality food, veryclose to the beach.

Review 99:There are not enough see beds around the pool, but this problem is also because the people let they tower on its without sating there .. It's a civilization problem! Sometimes the quality of food wasn't the best for me (i like fish and all foods with fish and on this topic there are moment when the food it's tasty - use canned fish)

Review 100:It's the second year when I stayed to this hotel and the things are getting better. 1. restaurant - there are 2 now and both renovated 2. pool - no glass around it (last year I cut in a glass in pool) 3. staff - was more friendly Overall I had a grade vacation!

Review 101:Attitude of staff at reception.

Review 102:The animation team enthusiastic and interested to make you feel in vacation Bravo Fatih, Peter, Marto and Rali! Spacious and very clean beach.

Review 103:There is nothing important to mention here.

Review 104:Everything was great. The rooms are big and clean, all with seaview, both inside and outside pools are clean, warm and big, the beach area isalso friendly. There is an open bar at the beach also. The food isgreat, tasty! Animation team is so willing to help and make you feelgood and the shows are always funny. Thank you Astera for such a nicehollyday! We will be back!

Review 105:Food was always the same at breakfast/lunch/dinner. No variations. What I hate was the "techno-music-noise" coming from the beach . But this is not a hotel problem , but Bulgarian have to learn to use less decibel music .

Review 106:I've apperciate the position close to the beach and the pool availability .

Review 107:Poor security services, no surveillance cameras, I left my tripod in the lobby bar and they have done anything to help me to recover it. I reported malfunction Internet room socket and did nothing in 5 days.

Review 108:Just the animation team and the entertainment lacked consistency.

Review 109:Really lovely hotel and the food was superb. We were the only Englishpeople staying in the place but that didn't matter at all to us. Theonly issue I had were the animation team (looked after entertainment)were completely un-animated it was almost comical Particualy in theevenings. So entertainment lacking consistency. One of the best if notthe best hotels in Golden Sands and close to everything.

Review 110:The food was bad and we had health problems because of it. The drinks are very low quality and the personal unfriendly. There were not enogh tables in the restaurant and for the lunches and dinners you have to wait every day. It was not a four star restaurant, but more like a cantine. The cleaning in the bathroom was not done properly. Definetly, it is not a hotel I will ever go again.

Review 111:I had a very bad experience in this hotel. I used the pool only one timein my holiday and during the polo game I stepped on a glass bottom withwas in the pool. The result was very bad for me: a very deep cut in myfoot. I was at the doctor in the same hotel and he called the save. Itwas necessary to operate local and to sewing my foot. I lot of pain andat the end a big invoice - 400 Leva which I paid from my wallet. Idiscussed with the management of the hotel for recovery my money. Theresponse was incredible, they said that the real price should be 700Leva and I was favored !!!! and they send me to my insurance in mycountry. No sorry! No return money ! Nothing ... incredible for a 4start hotel ! - In the same time in the same pool it was my daughter andother lots of kids ... It's not possible to be a 4 start hotel and donot guarantee the save around the pool. A minimal preventive method andserve the drinks in the plastic glasses was able to avoid this horribleincident. So be carefuller !!! The looks can be deceiving !!!

Review 112:I took an UAI package and the food in restaurant it was good, but there are some details to take care of: - fish: a cheap one. Hake is a dirty water type of fish - cookies with a low quality cream - drinks pre-combined with too much water - not a very very various menu, but acceptable, etc. Bodyguards from the Arrogance entrance was unfriendly (almost they wanted to ask us to pay entrance even if we had red hand mark (UAI) ... But we solved the problem on the reception.

Review 113:Almost everything: staff, facilities, location, hotel beach conditions, etc. Staff and animation team absolutely outstanding: excepting one fatty little girl (from reception) which it was probably a bit upset. The new boy from staff had an excellent atitude with guests and we were very excited to see that he tried to do anything to be a professionist ;). Very nice with the free of charge for: disco, sunchairs and umbrella on the beach, free beer/juices, etc. Undoubtedly, I will come again to this hotel. I was very satisfied. You are a good choise. Thanks for your hospitality!

Review 114:The hotel is quite noise and gives you the feeling of overcrowded. The served drinks in the all inclusive package are of poor quality. No wi-fi in the rooms, only a socket but the reception did not provide a ethernet cable.

Review 115:The rooms are big. The food variaty and quality are ok, but do not expect gourmet food. The indoor swimming pool is nice and clean.

Review 116:If you will take the room with sea view, you may suffer from noise - thehotel has 4 disco lounges and also a lot of noise on the street.

Review 117:The hotel is pretty new. The rooms are big and clean. The food variatyand quality are ok. The breakfast are the same every day, but lunch anddinner are difffer from from day to day. The hotel has his privatebeach, which is very good in Golden Sands, since the price are prettyhigh for the beach places and equipment.

Review 118:No wifi or wired internet in rooms.

Review 119:Everything was fine. Staff was polite and careful, room was spacious and clean, food was various and tasty.

Review 120:almost everything

Review 121:No comments

Review 122:All

Review 123:Cleanliness and Facilities

Review 124:Specific hotel smell, seems to us that all the hotel had a discreet smell of sulfur.

Review 125:Food, location, inside pool & sauna

Review 126:The all inclusive soft drinks.

Review 127:The location, the inside pool, the spa facilities, are great.

Review 128:were not keen on some of animation shows

Review 129:Good Value for Money close to beach

Review 130:Beautiful hotel and excellent facilities

Review 131:I can't describe

Review 132:Everything was ok. Seaside-view was excelent. We can see the Black Sea from our bed

Review 133:The folos wasn't such diversificated

Review 134:there is nothing that was not to like

Review 135:rooms, location, staff, food, parking facilities, all
