Reviews for Hotel de la Poste - Relais de Napoleon III
Review 1:the room is rather small, with a small over bath shower. Getting twin beds and the comfort of the matresses left a little to be desired (personal preference issue). Noise from the street made it into the room
Review 2:Nice hotel, great location, good food (we had breakfast/dinner), pleasant service, great breakfast, good coffee, nice view from the dining room, great ambiance
Review 3:Garage parking is available &, whilst convenient, is in poor order internally & needs a good clean up/repair. It is a payable extra after all. Garage access was difficult during our stay due to a cycling event - whilst this was good to see, some of the Officials went out of their way to be rude & offensive when we were trying to extract ourselves. It can be argued that this is hardly the fault of the Hotel, we felt the paying guests needs sholud have been properly accomodated. The restaurant has some interesting decor, some elements of which would appear to be large cast-iron planters mounted on shelves/plinthes. Whilst the effect was great, these were heavy items that could cause huge injury if displaced, should someone trip/fall.
Review 4:Quirky old place, well situated by the river Semois, in the centre of Bouillon. Good quality Restaurant, we were on HB option.
Review 5:Friendly staff, clean, excellent breakfast and restaurant. Don't bother with the cheaper rooms on the road side: they are noisy and small and the extra price for the nicer rooms is definitely worth it (we switched soon after checking in).
Review 6:Fantastic location right by the river and a good place to use as a stop-over en-route to/from Germany/Austria etc. or a base for exploring the Ardennes. We did a bit of both.
Review 7:Wifi was weak (will change in due time), Breakfast room was excellent, nicely decorated but the bottleneck was the coffemachine where we need to queue a lot. Wooden floor made noisy creak
Review 8:Excellent location at the river - we had booked the river view with a small upcharge which definitely paid out. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Stylish furniture
Review 9:Nothing !
Review 10:The food at this hotel is among the best I have tasted anywhere, been there 3 times now, once on half board and always been impressed by the menu.
Review 11:The key card system to open the garage was very hit and miss.
Review 12:Friendly staff. Excellent bistro outside hotel serving good quality food very well presented.
Review 13:Very creaky bedroom floor (but that's historical buildings for you !)
Review 14:Excellent breakfast with many choices. Secure parking. Lovely river and town views.
Review 15:We have stayed at Hotel De La Poste many times and have always enjoyed the experience
Review 16:Location of the Hotel is superb, private undercover parking at extra cost, (we were on a motorbike). I would sudgest you pay the extra for a room with a view of the river, cheaper rooms overlook the street.
Review 17:Room was cramped and corridors poorly lit once you were away from the main parts of the hotel.
Review 18:Secure parking for motor bikes €8, fabulous breakfast, staff were lovely and spoke English. Town looked interesting but as passing through didn't get chance to explore. Italian restaurant across the road was good value for money and again staff spoke English. Already planning a longer trip!
Review 19:Incredibly creaking parquet in the room!!! No sound-proofing. Long queue for hot drinks & tiny space for self-service at breakfast.
Review 20:Perfect location, beautiful building, very kind personnel at check-in desk. Excellent that most rooms come with a lovely view on the river.
Review 21:We stayed in April, temperatures were low and there was no heating in the bathroom. In addition, the staff was rude. When we arrived the receptionist explained where the car park was and after parking our car, she had abandoned the reception desk. We had to wait a while until she reappeared. She gave us the key of our room, and explained that the room might not be ready and that we should go and check. We returned to the reception desk and she had disappeared again. We had to wait a while longer this time for her to reappear. She made us leave our bags with her and disappeared again before we could ask her for a map.
Review 22:The location and the building are great.
Review 23:It is centrally located. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves delicius food. It is very good value for money.
Review 24:What more can a person ask than the comforts and food at this historic hotel in the most charming village I have ever been to. My husband and I booked a room here in a hurry on our iphone while traveling from Bastagne back to Paris. It was late and we needed a place to stay at the last minute. How delightful and fortunate to have found this charming hotel that boasts of the likes of Napoleon and Victor Hugo as patrons at one or more times. We were very sad to have to leave the next day to catch a plane, but not before having a memorable 4 course dinner and amazing breakfast. I can't say enough great things about our short stay here. It will definitely be a place we would like to visit again in the near future.
Review 25:In my room the radiator in the bathroom was making a noise like water constantly flowing through it so I switched it off.
Review 26:Location; my room was excellent and had a choice of different pillows which helps to have a good sleep; food at the hotel - evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was amazing - lots of choice!!
Review 27:Pay more for a bigger room as economy room very small and shower ridiculous. WiFi didn't work in 3rd floor bedroom.
Review 28:Food is absolutely fantastic and staff friendly.
Review 29:Parking was an issue. While they claim to have parking it is in factbeneath the hotel in a cramped garage that you are charged 12 Euro anight to use. It worked but was painful. The WiiFii was weak.
Review 30:I loved the resaurant/bar area, it's magnificent view of thecastle and old Bouillion town, The rooms were clean, spacious for anolder place, and easy to get to. Even though my room was on the 2nd(read 3rd) floor, the elevator worked fine to get me and my baggage towhere it needed to go.
Review 31:The room was a little dark and gloomy
Review 32:The restaurant was excellent, old French style with perfect service and superb cooking. The location by the river in the heart of Bouillon could not be better.
Review 33:They charge 12 Euro 50 to park in the hotel's garage, so we parked on the street.
Review 34:The staff were helpful and could speak English. The hotel is on the riverside in the heart of Bouillon with lots of cafes and bars nearby. We didn't notice any noise from the street at night. The hotel is quite old, with lots of character, but the bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped. The buffet breakfast was very good.
Review 35:Location was excellent - by the river and in the center of town. The lobby area and restaurant were charming with lovely decor and nice place to eat outside if desired. Food was superb - restaurant staff excellent. Great buffet breakfast! Room very basic but clean.
Review 36:Church bells every half an hour from 6 am on, check in not possible after 10 pm, very kitsch decoration (e.g. blue plush arm chairs), cold English breakfast
Review 37:the town
Review 38:It was obvious from our arrival that this was an exceptional hotel. Location by the river and in the shadow of the historic Fort. The standard of food and the length of the wine list confirmed our first impressions Still in private ownership it is a breath of fresh air in a world of corporate sameness.
Review 39:The room was roasting! Sadly I didn't sleep because of the heat.
Review 40:location is excellent. The hotel itself is very fancy. We opted for the breakfast and it was fantastic, we have never had such a choice.
Review 41:- very weak wifi signal, limiting access - VERY noisy on a Saturday night - the staff agree - being on a square (its actually a roundabout!) surrounded by bars, tourists and locals will sit out until the wee hours drinking, talking and singing (yes, singing). Ok unless it is hot in which case you need the windows open, alas the very weather that encourages people to sit out until the wee hours. A hot day and a wet evening would make this ideal!
Review 42:central location secure parking for motorcycles plentiful breakfast good bar and restaurant nice rooms
Review 43:Staff were grumpy Menus not in English and appeared to be only 1 memberof staff who spoke English and was willing to help Car park under thehotel was 12 euros a night and was empty! Bedroom small and noisy asneeded to leave the window open due to it being warm and no air con
Review 44:Location was good Ground floor of the hotel was fantastic! Mealswere amazing!
Review 45:Booked on line. Arrived and told room choice was not available unless we upgraded and payed a supplement. Roof in bathroom leaked when rained.
Review 46:Location excellent. Good breakfast choice.
Review 47:Recent changes to the hotels motorcycle charges/policy effectively means that if you are travelling as a group your parking charges will have tripled
Review 48:Good location, nice breakfast
Review 49:No aircon meant leaving window open onto a very noisy street where the party didnt stop until after 2am!
Review 50:Location was superb, food in Brasseries was excellent, breakfast was brillaint!
Review 51:The room (105 EUR for a standard double room incl. breakfast) was slightly overpriced in our view. The facilities in the room were rather basic, and overall the services available did not correspond to a 4-star hotel. Our room was located at the back side of the building, and we had no view (other than into the windows of the opposite building, which were dangerously close). It was very noisy during the night, but this was probably to be expected on a Saturday night in a hotel located in the very centre. The hotel has recently been renovated, but the interior still had a slightly shabby feel to it, probably because of the old carpet in the lobby/corridors. Restaurant definitely overpriced.
Review 52:The location was perfect, in the very centre of the town, overlooking the canal. The building itself was beautiful, particularly from the outside. The staff was very attentive and professional. Very nice breakfast: fresh products, great variety, tables with a beautiful view on the canal. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Overall, despite a number of negative points, it was an agreeable stay, and we appreciated that rooms were still available on a short notice.
Review 53:1) bathroom light switch also turns on light in room, waking up the others at night 2) emergency exit door 3rd floor not marked as such and did not close properly
Review 54:almost everything
Review 55:Creaky floorboards in our room and the bathroom light switch also tired on the light over the bed.
Review 56:The ambiance
Review 57:Location and breakfast. The restaurant for dinner was very nice.
Review 58:Excellent breakfast
Review 59:Location and breakfast buffet
Review 60:Airco in the room could be a plus, the bed made lots of noise

Review 84:Being next to the bridge.
Review 85:breakfast with wine!!
Review 86:Creaky floorboards
Review 87:Charming 'old world' hotel with clean facilities and an excellent restaurant and wonderful views.
Review 88:Considering the rating and the price, one would expect more friendly and warm receptionists but this was not the case.
Review 89:Rooms are small. Bathroom without working shower.
Review 90:Situation of the hotel in the middle of town. Dinner was fine and X-Mas setting was also good
Review 91:Having to book dinner in Hotel each evening.

Review 97:Excelent location Good restaurant Helpful staff
Review 98:The badroom needs some rework.
Review 99:The food was really great and the wines perfect!
Review 100:Bathroom - too small/too old

Review 103:Comfort of room Luxury upgrades Breakfast buffet included in room cost
Review 104:Friendly staff Excellent food Great location
Review 105:Lovely position by the river, beautiful decor in the room ( looked like it had just been refurbished)
Review 106:Lovely hotel, nice restaurant and good breakfast
Review 107:Lovely hotel with excellent secure garage parking.
Review 108:Access to car park not signed and being charged for car park when no alternative available

Review 110:No coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
Review 111:Lovely location right in the heart of the village - friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast including champagne/bucks fizz, comfortable room and nice big bathroom.
Review 112:Some staff members are friendly but the overall atmosphere is rather cold and pragmatic. If you are in a group you won't mind but as a solo traveler it matters.
Review 113:Wonderfully located in the center of town along the river Semois. Beautiful outlook on the river and the castle from the restaurant. Beautifully furnitured. Exquisite food. Quality all over.
Review 114:Nothing.
Review 115:It was great to have a river view room. We used the secure car park, which was useful. We were on the Half Board package and the food was outstanding. The staff were all excellent from Manager Hilde to lovely Ann at breakfast.
Review 116:Having to pay extra per day for parking. Otherwise we would have to find a parking space somewhere in the town, not necessarily close to the hotel!
Review 117:The hotel building is lovely, especially the inside which is immaculate. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Great location, right by the river and good views of the castle.
Review 118:Staff ok but not 4 star worth.
Review 119:Nice hotel, beatiful old building, nice decor. Restaurant overlooking the river and the castle. Would definetely stay again.
Review 120:No fridge and grumpy staff...but there is grumpy staff all over bouillon. Too bad, why take the tourists for granted? Smile..enjoy your job!
Review 121:Breakfast! And the location is very central.
Review 122:My room (and those of my friends) had wooden floors that creaked very badly. I could hear every footstep from the room next door and I dread to think how noisy it was for the people on the floor below.
Review 123:Very helpful staff and a great location, a nice hotel overall.
