Reviews for Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel

Review 1:would like a shuttle to the casino

Review 2:your custodian was wonderful as he helped me with the elevator when I had hot coffee dropping everything to run and assist should get a raise and employee of the year for that

Review 3:We booked for a room with two queen beds and ended up with 2 doubles. Our sleep was interrupted by screaming and yelling in the hallway outside our room at 3:00 in the morning. This continued for 45 minutes. When we spoke with the front desk the response was an unimpressive 'sorry'.

Review 4:. Didn't make it to pool. Disappointed there wasn't a hot tub. Had staff walk in twice without knocking. Wasn't impressed with that.

Review 5:Location was great. Breakfast served up to a decent time as well

Review 6:Breakfast isn't great. It had waffles, cereal, bagels, muffins/danishes, fruit, eggs and sausages. Nothing over-the-top about it.

Review 7:Absolutely gorgeous view! We had the panoramic view with a King Bed and it was beautiful. We requested highest floor available and they gave us the 22nd floor, top floor!

Review 8:They have no food or alcohol in the hotel, this is crazy. People come back to the hotel after a days work and they would like to eat for sure and maybe a drink. To have to go off site again is a bit much.

Review 9:Friendly staff' especially in the small breakfast area where they served a continental breakfast they were most helpful and pleasant.

Review 10:While its nice to have a free breakfast, it wasn't great, and served on paper plates with plastic knives and forks, detracts from the experience a bit. The hotel got busy over our stay, and breakfast literally became a bunfight, as the area is too small for the amount of people it is servicing

Review 11:The room was spacious, and had a lovely view, reception staff were friendly, and the pool was great.

Review 12:Tight parking garage for a pick up truck. Not much room at entrance to pull in and go in to check in. Eggs tasted like the powder form.

Review 13:Clean! Very nice friendly staff. Bed was very comfortable. Waffles were very good for a hotel breakfast. Decent breakfast buffet.

Review 14:Hotel was dingy and outdated. They were short staffed. Restaurant was closed . Pricey for what you got . Breakfast was terrible . Bad food The casino has better rooms and classier with easy parking and places to eat while bring cheaper .

Review 15:Were not advised at check-in that parking was a daily charge on our bill. Best Western on Huron Line may have included this

Review 16:breakfast (good!) was included, nice view

Review 17:It would be nice to see the pool/sauna area a little updated. The fitness center with river views is a nice touch.

Review 18:Everything is above average here. The rooms, views, breakfast, amenities, staff...are all great.

Review 19:Beautiful entrance..great view from the room. Easy to walk to casino. GREAT swimming pool. The breakfast was good…(awful waffle batter)..loved the choice of teas.

Review 20:nothing negative.

Review 21:Right on the riverfront. Clean rooms friendly staff, ample breakfast with lots of selections, parking available, close drive to anyhing you need.

Review 22:The pool's so-so, no shallow area for small kids. Check-in was bad. Apparently on-line reservations don't show up in their system and have to be manually transferred over, but only one member of staff knew about this/how to handle it. The person I initially talked to just said she couldn't find my reservation. Breakfast is pretty bad.

Review 23:Easy access to Adventure Bay. River views from many rooms.

Review 24:The parking was somewhat inconvenient

Review 25:All facilities were clean and in good working order. The staff was friendly and courteous at all times. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.

Review 26:The place does show it age - however it is obvious that there have been some big renovations taking place. The parking access is a little scary for a single person on their own and a more direct route should be established if it can be.

Review 27:Danny on the front desk was very attentive. He went the extra mile to make sure I was were taken care of. He made excellent restaurant suggestions. Paul was very prompt to make sure that our bedding was switch to non allergenic. Good breakfast staff too. Great place and I will return if I am ever back to work in Windsor.

Review 28:Walkway from parking garage very confusing and unnecessary. Parking should be free!

Review 29:Very quiet despite the number of high school teams also staying at hotel. No problem with noise at all.

Review 30:I love swimming , the pool was a little cool / cold and didn't like the stairs to get into it , a corner steps with railing would be better

Review 31:Staff , pretty much an excellent place to stay .

Review 32:Every need was cared for in a nice way....we were made to feel welcome ...although we have never visited before. Gorgeous veiw...thank you for putting us on the 12th floor riverside!

Review 33:BUT. They did not clean the room . We had to order towels for our second night to at least have them clean When we told them at the front desk the answer we got back was, sorry she must have forgot(you think),

Review 34:Staff was very good and friendly. Free morning breakfast was good. The view or the river was excellent The fridge did not work but the repairman was there to fix it in seconds.

Review 35:I booked my room online and it booked it for that day which was the wrong day. It took 1 hour for me to get connected with the right person to cancel my reservation. Which they could have booked the room with someone else in that amount of time. They did not reimburse my money because it wasn't a 24 hour notice. I could see if I would have called the next day. I had to call them 4 times before I got answer weather or not they would reimburse me. They never called me back

Review 36:The Internet was useless, I was picking up the wifi signal from across the river in Detroit better than the TERRIBLE signal from the hotel !!! They advertise that they have flat screen TV's but has no digital signal which means I turned the TV off because I couldn't even enjoy the grainy picture. I could not plug my laptop into it so I could watch my own movies either

Review 37:The queen room with a river view was well worth the money, great layout of the room !!

Review 38:Jacuzzi has been cemented over; however, the pool and workout facility overlooking the river is really cool. Parking for $12/day is a bit of a rip.

Review 39:Front desk staff friendly and helpful.

Review 40:Parking is located behind the hotel in a multi story parking so if it rains you'll get soaked if you don't have an umbrella.

Review 41:The view. Great, great view.

Review 42:Breakfast quality and taste was mediocre; eggs were poor and the coffee was poor. Very busy, not much room to sit for everyone.

Review 43:Beds are very comfortable, great view

Review 44:Great location. The hotel needs updated. I felt like it was a mix between modern and 80s (mainly older wall paper on some walls and carpet). The bed was amazingly comfortable and clean! The staff was pleasant and friendly. The breakfast food was very disappointing. The eggs were made from powder I believe and the sausages were perhaps protein powder. The waffles were great, but for the price the breakfast should be enjoyable. Perhaps taking away those options would be better for the overall opinion of the hotel.

Review 45:the first room we went to was very musty and smelled like mildew. the next room was nicer, but had not fridge, no security box. they replaced the fridge right away.we had problems with the toilet, ws fixed to a degree

Review 46:the location was lovely

Review 47:Was told the wrong time for breakfast so when we got the dining room just about everthing had been cleared away, and the satff could care less that we had been told wrong times.

Review 48:The views from the hotel to Detroit was amazing especially at night. Only ten minute walk to Ceasers Casino.

Review 49:Our room is suffocating we are at the 20th floor which is great because of the view but we didnt sleep well because there was no ventilation,we tried to turn on the exhaust fan in the bathroom but it didnt seem working,we were tired because lack of sleep plus a baby crying for so long next door at midnight while the couple were having sex.I feel so bad for the baby:(

Review 50:We love the location it's fronting Detriot and the lake which is amazing if you love nature you will love place

Review 51:The room and bed presentation was sloppy and look rushed, wrinkled linen, past guest left items in shower so I assume it wasn't cleaned thoroughly, and the bed spread and skirt was wrinkled.

Review 52:I liked every thing, convenient location and nice view of the garden and river.

Review 53:Parking payments and distance from hotel. Was misinformed about possible discounts upon check in request.

Review 54:Nice room amenities, bed and kool fitness area and pool.

Review 55:mid-80's decor, property is in need of a face lift, breakfast was a bit disappointing especially after the staff made a big deal about the free breakfast.

Review 56:Friendly staff, good location.

Review 57:The bathroom fan was disgusting. I called and asked to have it cleaned. That never happened. There was also mold in the shower. The breakfast was subpar and chaotic.

Review 58:The location was good. View was good.

Review 59:WiFi was too weak to pick up in our room. Another member of our group who booked through booking.com had their booking "lost" - they said booking.com didn't sent properly. The initial clerk refused to honor it despite the confirmation number (said they should have called to confirm). We encouraged them to argue it and the service manager found them a room

Review 60:Room view was stunning. we were in a corner room and although the room was not large it was well appointed and with the whole wall of windows who cares!

Review 61:Tried to charge us $3.50 for a bottle of water we never consumed. Room was cramped and wall paper was peeling off the walls in spots. Parking garage was iffy should have a security guard especially at night.

Review 62:Beautiful view of the waterfront. Room was clean though the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in spots. Room was cramped. Parking was provided across the street behind the hotel in a parking garage that gave me the creeps.

Review 63:Breakfast buffet area was very poorly planned--everything jammed into a very small space. This is a large hotel and the area was totally crammed with guests at the buffet. A bad way to start the day--especially if you need to get to a meeting or the airport. After seeing the crowd and the setup, we ate elsewhere.

Review 64:The view from our room, 'panoramic river view', was fantastic. The hotel location is excellent. The art gallery, cultural events, river walk and casino are right there within a few steps; the downtown area is easily accessible. Hotel staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful.

Review 65:I realize the breakfast was included, but was not very tasty. Eggs wet and runny, sausages not very good, did not like the muffins. The coffee though was very good. The chaotic, disorganized jumble of people was not pleasant. Thank goodness there was space to move around them.

Review 66:The view. My only negative is that there was no place in front to park long enough to bring my bags in and the young lady at reception could have suggested leaving them with her while I drove around to park. I was checking in while my husband was at his meeting so he wasn't there to help me.

Review 67:We like the location it was within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. The breakfast was quite nice. The view of the river and Detroit's skyline was amazing.

Review 68:Not really a strong dislike but the grout in the bathroom could use some attention.....quite dingy. Room was pricey at $200+ for one night.

Review 69:The location and riverfront view from the 9th floor were incredible both day and night! Within walking distance of good pub/dining/live music.

Review 70:The parking pass was somewhat a nuisance. Seemed it was only good for one swipe at a time. The pass was never in touch with any other magnetic fields unless the who car was such. The upside to all this was that we were able to get a replacement pass by your friendly and helpful staff. The downside was that communication with the gate control was useless causing us to track back to the hotel to rectify the problem. Sounded like virgin mobile and there was no touch pad to connect direct help. Thankfully there was no other car waiting behind is to get out any time our pass was deemed invalid.

Review 71:We really liked the view from the room and the pool room. The pool room was great including the workout room. We were wondering about the whirlpool. It was covered and not in use.

Review 72:Things are looking pretty old and I don't think it's worth the money I paid. The breakfast was also sub par. The parking garage is pretty gross and there were some sketchy looking people hanging out in it drinking.

Review 73:The bed was really Comfortable and the location was great but it needs some updating. The pool was also nice to use.

Review 74:Our room had a beautiful view of the gardens along the river and Detroit all lit up after dark. We were close enough to walk to the casino and The Keg was right next door for dinner.

Review 75:They are short staffed. No one to help you with your luggage.

Review 76:The location and view is amazing. The size of the rooms was decent. Breakfast was good too. Free parking.

Review 77:I didn't like the elevators. They looked as if they were build in the early 60's. They would close on you as you walked in. Also the parking lot to the hotel was very ghetto and gross.

Review 78:I enjoyed the pool, and how clean the pool area was. I also liked the fact that the hotel room was tidy and very spacious.

Review 79:If I had to find fault with anything,I would say that the rooms are small, especially the washroom. This did not ruin my trip or experience here.

Review 80:Location of hotel was great.Room overlooked Lake Erie, and view of Detroit skyline.Great breakfast.Loved this hotel.

Review 81:When I was at the hotel, the night manager gave a key to my room to a member attending the same function without consulting me and/or checking ID. There was also an issue with the hotel removing items from another room when there was a confusion in the booking dates - also without notifying the guests in advance. I emailed the hotel to discuss the matter with the manager but unfortunately did not receive a response. This is not acceptable service and quite alarming that it would happen in 2015.

Review 82:Super location on waterfront and walking distance to town. Exercise room overlooks the river. Rooms were comfortable and clean. There is a good breakfast restaurant to the rear of the hotel. The staff that checked me in and out were friendly and efficient.

Review 83:Parking was across street in seperate parking structure, had to pay, walked 5 mins through a maze of outdated interior to getto lobby from Parking. Easy to get lost.

Review 84:I like how close it was walking distance from the main street and Casino.

Review 85:Parking is $10-13 $-euros (May 2015) in a ramp the block behind the hotel. The hotel does have a back entrance door so it isn't a hassle.

Review 86:Staff at desk were friendly and helpful.

Review 87:Initially did not like our room with the partial view and asked for a room change. Was told twice the hotel was sold out and we could not make a switch. My huband inquired and was immediately upgraded to a better room. We checked in very early and do not understand why we were not initially offered the upgrade.

Review 88:Breakfast included.

Review 89:The room we got wasn't renovated so it didn't look like the pictures online which was kind of a surprise when we got there. Overall it wasn't to bad. Just wish I was told ahead of time.

Review 90:The location was amazing as well as the staff. They did an excellent job attending to their guests needs. Offering advice about directions and restaurants to visit. The views from the hotel rooms was spectacular for the price.

Review 91:Wifi was on the slower side. Also they did not offer any room service and the hotel did not have a restaurant or bar, only vending machines.

Review 92:The place was clean and located right on the Detroit river.

Review 93:The breakfast was disappointing. It was disorganized and setup poorly. Bottlenecks at different stations. The pasteries could have been fresher.

Review 94:The view from our room was lovely. The beds were comfortable. The location was perfect for a function at the University.

Review 95:Small amount of mold in the cracks of the tile in the bathroom, but other than that room was kept very clean.

Review 96:Liked the comfy bed and pillows. Room was clean and had a great view. Breakfast was good and staff very helpful.

Review 97:The front desk guy was a totally tool. So rude. Totally turned me off and usually I would check out in the am but I didn't because I didn't want to see him.

Review 98:Great location, beautiful view

Review 99:Some aspects of the room seemed "tired". Wall paper around the heating/air conditioning unit peeling and yellowed. Windows unclear (permanent fog) so view was not as great as it could be. But these things are minor. They just stop you from being a luxury hotel.

Review 100:The staff were excellent!

Review 101:I had to book a double bed room as a solo traveller because it was overbooked. A discount would have been nice therefore. The sauna didn't work. The TV had bad reception. No HD. The water in the room should be complimentary.

Review 102:The room and the gym have a nice view over Detroits skyline.

Review 103:I am old so I couldn't figure out the shower! Some thing in the room made me allergic I could see the dark dust in the corners of the ceiling. The air was not on, but we were comfortable. I don't like to waste linen with all those pillows, are they laundered after each guest? maybe the linen was not fresh.

Review 104:the room's view was spectacular! the voucher for shrimp cocktail at the Keg.was so generous! the wonderful breakfast

Review 105:I felt a little embarrassed because I called the lady (Cindy) who answered the phone Janice more than once and she didn't correct me. When I got to the check in counter I asked for Janice and the lady who was working (didn't remember her name) started laughing and said that I meant "Cindy". So instead of correcting me, they decided to joke about it when I hung up. Other than that, experience was great.

Review 106:Went to Tigers game with some friends. Location was perfect. Close to the bars, bus terminal, etc.

Review 107:They charge for parking, Staff isn't so welcoming and they even didn't accept to let me do a late check out for 1 hour only. They barely accept for 30 min which frustrate me

Review 108:Location, facility

Review 109:The wifi wasn't the best. The woman's sauna wasn't working and the whirlpool wasn't working either.

Review 110:Location was great. The views were awesome !

Review 111:You have to pay for parking. Breakfast buffet is a mess and the food is not great.

Review 112:Amazing location and amazing view of the river. Comfortable bed (although small) and Comfortable pillows Walking distance to Caesars

Review 113:Wifi in common areas like the lobby and the restauant was not available.

Review 114:The gym facilities, the pool and the location. Housekeeping provided by Mrs. Teuta was excellent durng our stay.

Review 115:*In need of maintenance, i. e. gray duct tape on carpets & elevator floor; some furniture badly marked; marks on hall walls & baseboards. *needs gift shop *parking garage badly needs painting & cleaning

Review 116:* lovely river view * comfortable king bed * great location - 10 min.walk to Caesars casino * newly renovated breakfast area; breakfast included in price

Review 117:Whirlpool was closed.

Review 118:Short walking distance to casino, view is unbelievable for the price you pay. The staff were friendly. The only thing is the hallways and rooms are a little outdated but it doesn't take away from the positives!

Review 119:Most of the ice machines were out of service and breakfast was over too early....

Review 120:There is only one person at the counter on the Friday night which was very busy.... And breakfast was over way too early which was not nice considering we only slept until 930

Review 121:There was something sticky on the bedside table indicating a less than thorough cleaning. When I called down at 1 am to tell the front desk there were young people congregating in the hallway sitting on the floor and, chatting on their cell phones it took over 30 minutes for anyone to come break it up.

Review 122:The breakfast area was not well layed-out and resulted in traffic jams and long waits for food. Food stock was not replenished quickly enough and some items ran out, making for longer waits. Riverfront view was restricted.

Review 123:Clean rooms, nice workout area, easy access to riverfront boardwalk for a morning walk. If you have to stay in Windsor with young children, the waterfront is probably the safest area away from the seedy downtown area, but still within easy access to restaurants etc.

Review 124:Still being renovated in the lobby. Parking Garage not really convenient, but okay.

Review 125:The VIEW of the River and the room was AWESOME. The price was VERY GOOD!

Review 126:Very expensive for what you get. Older hotel small TV with terrible cable. Parking at rear 23 bucks. Nice location but won't be back for that price!

Review 127:Great view

Review 128:Breakfast was terrible and the hotel was under renovations everywhere. Would have been nice to know this before booking.

Review 129:The location of the hotel was good and the views of detroit fantastic.

Review 130:Parking wasn't free, which is a pet peeve of mine when staying at a hotel, but I was working at the casino so left my car there for free and walked over

Review 131:My room was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the Detroit skyline and river. The room was a little dated ( i hear they're in the process of renovating though!!) but bed was comfy and to me that's most important! The free breakfast was really good with lots of selection and again a great view!!

Review 132:The Wi-Fi in our room (8th floor) was very erratic; constantly connecting and disconnecting the internet connection. Hot water availability was unpredictable.. at times hot.. then lukewarm.

Review 133:The location and river view/access are really nice attributes of this hotel; the morning breakfast buffet is very comfortable in access/location and offerings; the price is good value.

Review 134:amazing view and light with the "riverview" rooms!! Great breakfast included. Close to centre of town, ease of parking, and waterfront location make this a great and convenient hotel!! We will use again!

Review 135:room was okay but we were told the 16th floor had been completely renovated. Most of the furniture was old and chippy and the wallpaper was sadly lacking and baseboard need to be painted/replaced

Review 136:washroom was clean (so was the room) and the view, although you pay a substantial upcharge was great. Great location

Review 137:Hotel lobby was under construction, only one elevator working..took forever! Rates should have reflected the construction and inconvenience..paid close to $400 for 2 nights!

Review 138:Rooms were clean and well equipped. Friendly staff. Free WiFi.

Review 139:Seemed like there was only 1 elevator working, almost always a wait. There was no free parking, for one night after price of room and parking with tax I spent just about 200 bucks for just a single night, room was comfortable but small, not the best bang for your buck.

Review 140:Loved the view, and the comfort of the bed.
