Reviews for Hotel Recour
Review 1:Money needs to be spent on redecoration and refurbishment. Filthy pull curtains in the bathroom. and generally dirty nets and dirty windows. Associated restaurant vastly over priced with unpleasant woman in charge. Menus offer little choice. Wine prices unbelievable.
Review 2:Facilities in the room were excellent. Hotel staff very obliging and helpful.
Review 3:No bad experience - just make sure you get the room you want. Some have balconies and ours was in the shade rather than the sun!
Review 4:The rooms are luxurious with everything you need. Full continental breakfast and walking distance to town square.
Review 5:A lovely surprise! Unusual with lovely decorations and individual bedrooms. Four poster beds, chandeliers, luxurious bathrooms and a beautiful staircase.
Review 6:nothing
Review 7:the warm welcome, I came late and paul had prepared a lovely meal which I ate on my beautiful balcon. I have stayed here many times and it is a fabulous hotel.
Review 8:Multi jet shower was out of order Balneo bath not working Mattress too soft Unwelcoming staff Limited choice for breakfast buffet , too warm for cheese, no eggs or other hot
Review 9:Room design Spacious Dvd for rent
Review 10:That we don't get to stay more often.
Review 11:The Hotel is superb. The room price [that we've had on two occasions now] is excellent - this would be a five star Hotel in London and way out of our price range. Rooms are excellent - very tasteful - Luxurious.
Review 12:Funny fire escape route to the breakfast room
Review 13:The hotel is immaculately furnished with antiques, artistically and opulently decorated to the highest standards.
Review 14:Need to travel in open from main building to annex over external gantry with slippery when wet galvanised metal steps. Dinner was minimal and hence considered over expensive when compared with our experience at a nearby hotel restaurant. No apparent heat in bathroom.
Review 15:Breakfast (continental) was very good in both quality and amount of choice.
Review 16:expensive meals - eat elsewhere a little hard to find location english was not very good some guest very loud and being an old house noise traveled
Review 17:Parking was good. room was nice but bath was akward to use.
Review 18:Not a very good welcome by receptionist. Room had lots of 'gadgets' and expensively fitted out, but lacked warmth. Not curtain at window so woken early by daylight. Breakfast room not inviting. Would definitely not stay again.
Review 19:Breakfast very good.
Review 20:Breakfast was poor. Scrambled egg was one egg on a piece of slate! Plenty of bread and pastries to choose from
Review 21:The overall character and the older luxurious bedrooms. Everything was so well done
Review 22:Only thing I can fault it for is the steps up to the breakfast area............I am very nervous of heights and being able to see through the steps didn't help me.
Review 23:The room.............the public areas.........the restaurant.............excellent staff that are very friendly and helpful and the location. Central location with a car park next to it if you can't get in the car park at the rear of the hotel. It was lovely to hear the musical church bells ringing too.
Review 24:Nothing really we didn't eat there so can't say whether good or bad.
Review 25:The room the bed ,bath, air conditioning, area nice all round hotel. The staff were very nice and welcoming.
Review 26:There is nothing I dislike about Hotel Recour. If it was closer, I'd want to live there!
Review 27:This is my third stay at Hotel Recour. I love it. Its an exquisitely beautiful old house with gorgeous furnishings - and the chef is a genius.
Review 28:Tastefully decorated rooms. Everything you require for your stay. Welcoming friendly staff. Good breakfast facilities.
Review 29:The hotel was the best I've stayed, ever. The room was amazing.
Review 30:Glass door to bathroom that was very difficult to open and close.
Review 31:Comfortable bedroom.
Review 32:We stayed on one of the traditionally furnished rooms and it was just pure luxury. Friendly but non-intrusive staff who showed us to the room.
Review 33:Except the water bed (but this was advised; we just liked the room so much that we decided to "bear" the water bed)
Review 34:Everything lovely
Review 35:Hotel was fab. The town itself is quiet at night.
Review 36:Hotel was so lovely. Would recommend.
Review 37:Rooms clean comfortable and tastefully furnished. Good continental breakfast and excellent main restaurant with good wine list.
Review 38:Very well located For sightseeing Excellent food Good stay all round
Review 39:No on-site car parking but very close to paid public car parking.
Review 40:Customer service and restaurant (Pegasus).
Review 41:They turned off our central heating centrally
Review 42:Fab four poster bed and deep bath
Review 43:bed very comfortable Room huge and cosy location great food amazing at hotel
Review 44:Breakfast very artistic but rather pricey
Review 45:Room spacious, modern and fully of character
Review 46:We liked everything
Review 47:Building Food Bedroom Atmosphere The Whole Experience
Review 48:It is a very very expensive place to eat
Review 49:The food was wonderful
Review 50:The design of the room and the friendly customer service.
Review 51:Comfortable room - breakfast good and staff polite
Review 52:All good.
Review 53:Central to the main town. Car park nearby which is free between 6pm and 9am. There is a nice garden with patio furniture to sit out and enjoy the surroundings. Friendly staff.
Review 54:Very nice place, large room, great bathroom. After asking in the evening, we were provided with two bikes next morning, even though the hotel does not have their bikes for rent.
Review 55:The manager was very accommodating, the bedroom was excellent with a huge bathroom (our room had a bathroom with a clawfoot bath and had huge sliding doors made of glass between it and the bedroom, so be careful if you're not so intimate!). Breakfast is in a modern building over a walkway. Garaging available too.
Review 56:The wall ashtray at the terrace was full and the tube was not very clean. The wellness center was closed (it was not stated in the hotel's description in Booking.com). Beside this two minor things, we like the hotel very much.
Review 57:Beautiful decoration, wonderful rooms, specially the bathroom. A few blocks from the train station and from the city center. Perfect for relaxation.
Review 58:Breakfast price looked a bit steep so put us off - it may have been amazing!
Review 59:Beautiful room under the eaves. Enormous bed, armchairs, tea and coffee making in room, lovely bathroom with old fashioned tub. Fantastic location right in town centre with loads if choices of cafes and restaurants for breakfast and dinner.
Review 60:The lock to the bedroom door was difficult and we had to battle to get in the room. It was spotlessly clean but there was a drain smell from the ensuite bathroom and the room was cold. From an environmental point of view it is good not have the room heated all the time and we were late due to the ferry but as we'd booked a low setting to take the chill off the room would have been good. There were a couple of other problems but I think we were just unlucky. On the whole it seemed as if all the problems could have been sorted by a good building maintenance person.
Review 61:Beautiful hotel in very sweet little Belgium town. Old building sympathetically refurbished an welcoming log fire. Warm friendly staff. They offered to open the kitchen for us too eat.
Review 62:The disturbance caused by noisy pedestrians and cars outside until 03.30 on each morning. A festival was held in the town on the second night which may have contributed to the late noise issue. We did not avail ourselves of breakfast (17Euros) or daily parking at (10Euros) per day which we considered expensive.
Review 63:The hotel room was very nice, clean , comfortable and had every amenity.
Review 64:Top of the stairs quite noisy when other residents walked by. Price of Food - didn't think this was good value, 28Euros for the cheapest starter on the menu.
Review 65:Loved the room - furnishings / style / bathroom facilities etc Would stay again in the same room.
Review 66:This is a lovely hotel but you have to be prepared to pay for it.
Review 67:A beautiful room in a renaissance style, distressed wood and lots of interesting embellishments. An extremely comfortable room with luxury bathroom.
Review 68:They could up date the TV to have flat screen and a English news channel
Review 69:The room was lovely and so was the bathroom The bed was big and comfortable and there was some nice touches in the room.
Review 70:Uniquely characteristic hotel, very centrally located, with a quite wonderful bathroom and offerings, allowing for almost decadent self-indulgence with all manner of scents and oils.
Review 71:Victorian bath made it impossible to have a proper stand up shower. (inexcusable in a modern hotel) Ludricliously expensive drinks (coffee 6 euros and shots min 6 euros up to 99 euros) Altogether rather disappointing.
Review 72:This hotel is in a time warp. The room we stayed in has an amasing bathroom with twin "his & hers"basins and victorian bath tub. Amazingly well stocked cellar and bar. Good location within a few metres from the centre of town.
Review 73:As this was a last minute booking regrettably the restaurant was fully booked so we needed to go elsewhere. A recommendation was made by the hotel and this was perfect.
Review 74:Lovely room good location
Review 75:We had booked on a deal and were given a very cool reception. The room was a four poster but didn't quite work. I think it was the laminate floor which jarred with the antique furnishings and slightly odd metal four poster bed. The bath had so many functions, light show, jacuzzi, whirlpool but no instructions and after our reception could not face asking. By the end of our stay longed for a simple tap to turn off and on and was a similar story with the shower. Most disappointing was the sound insulation. Luckily the hotel wasn't busy but every time someone went past the door it was like they were in the room with you and there was no sense of privacy. If we had paid full price we would have felt very disappointed. For the money we paid it was OK
Review 76:Smal boutique hotel. Reception and sitting ares very sympathetically decorated and refreshing change from dull corporate design of so many hotels. Close to centre of town square yet quiet. Delightful terraced area to sit in. Complimentary tea and biscuits in room and good selection of toiletries.
Review 77:Breakfast is significantly overpriced for what is actually offered. Was overcharged in final bill, though this was corrected once pointed out.
Review 78:Room was beautiful, great touches & attention to detail. Bath & bathrobes both fantastic, decoration fantastic. Very luxurious hotel.
Review 79:The fact you have to go outside on stairs to takre breakfast (not comfortable when raininig) We had dinner in Pegasus.Good food but very small portions for the price you pay
Review 80:The room was very spacious and design.Clean Good breakfast
Review 81:A little difficult to find as there is a one system in Poperinge and the hotel's signage is a little indistinct - in the dark and in heavy rain!
Review 82:Beautiful room, extremely well appointed and comfortable
Review 83:Delicious and freshly prepared breakfast. My partner is afraid of heights though and to get to the breakfast room you had to go along a walkway which is outside and rather high, and then up another outside staircase. It was a bit of a nightmare for him and there wasnt another way to the breakfast room apart from crossing the garden but then climbing up the outside staircase. It took a lot of coaxing to get him there. I wasnt sure if breakfast was always served in this room or not. Fabulous view of the Town though for the rest of us.
Review 84:Beautiful Hotel in a good central location. Fabulous decor. luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms. We had been travelling all day and were tired so didnt eat in the restaurant as felt we couldnt do it justice that evening. Our loss i believe. Next Time!
Review 85:The restaurant is very expensive, although there are lots of otherplaces to eat in the town. The town of Poperinge is a little out of theway, unless you are making the pilgrimage to Ypres to tour thebattlefields and museums of wwi.
Review 86:This is an outstanding, luxury hotel charging mid-range prices.
Review 87:We arrived after a very long journey and felt we were under dressed and the staff were quite off hand. We were asked to pay an extra 10 euros for parking in the back yard of the hotel for one night. we were offered free parking at a swimming bath a half a mile away.We have never been asked to pay for parking and especially this being the most expensive hotel of our trip. Room was expensively furnished but low beams did not really suit us. breakfast was 16 euros and the evening meal was outrageously expensive as well. Needless to say we ate locally. Will find somewhere else next time
Review 88:Luxury
Review 89:It was a lovely hotel. The room was beautiful and clean. There were loads of great little luxury touches.... free brandy in the room, sweets and grapes etc. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was a little expensive but there was so much to choose from and it was all delicious.
Review 90:The room we were in was not as expected. We thought it would be a traditional hotel foom .Instead it was very Swedish in style and very modern, We had to walk across a bridge to our room and had to climb a metal staircase to get to the Breakfast room. Not at all suitable for a pair of 70 year olds. However the food in the Restaurant for Dinner was excellent if a little expensive.
Review 91:The room we had could not be made dark completely as the bathroom door was made of glass and the window in the bathroom could not be darkened.
Review 92:The breakfast buffet was delicious and the room with terras where breakfast was served is very nice. Verry good bed.
Review 93:Long walk across footbridge and up stairs to breakfast area, all in the open, which could be awkward in the rain.
Review 94:Good situation with private parking available. Lovely breakfast area. Hotel full of character.
Review 95:Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our stay but we had beenadvised of this.
Review 96:We stayed in one of the design rooms - very spacious and modern withlovely comfortable bed and excellent bathroom facilities.
Review 97:Have stayed before outstanding is the only word I could use have stayed in other hotels in poperinge this one is by far the best once again we were up graded to a better room than the one we chose at no extra cost would recommend this hotel to anyone

Review 115:Noise and disruption from the town kermesse
Review 116:Comfort
