Reviews for Hotel Cosy
Review 1:The water for the tea at breakfast should have been hotter. Out of hours entrance not particularly well lit.
Review 2:Fantastic location on the hillside overlooking the town, river and castle. A 6-7 minute walk into the centre. Comfortable well-appointed and well-furnished room. Excellent comprehensive breakfast with a good selection of fruit, cold meats, cheese, bread and pastries. The breakfast room and dining room were beautifully furnished. The wood-burning stove in the lounge made the hotel truly "Cosy"!
Review 3:Wonderful food in the restaurant, and a menu with authentic lambic beers. Good breakfast. Bunk beds for the kids. Jacuzzi tub. Walking out of the hotel and seeing the castle each day.
Review 4:Booked superior double room. when arrived offered choice small double smelling of smoke no view, or a twin ok but no view. when queried ,mngr stated, web page suggested extra for view.. not on confirmation I printed, disappointed. Dinner expensive no alternatives
Review 5:atmosphere, location and decor perfect
Review 6:the location offers the most dramatic and romantic view - we had room 102 which overlooked the castle. A lovely comfortable room with high quality furnishings throughout and a great bathroom. The owners of this property were covering for the usual manager's holiday and turned our one night stay into a truly memorable visit.
Review 7:The hotel was excellent, although the steep climb up to the hotel from the town may be difficult for those with walking difficulties.
Review 8:The owners were very friendly and accommodating. A lovely, bright and quiet room with superb views over the castle and Semois Valley. Plenty of parking available on the very quiet road in front of the hotel. The surrounding area is beautiful.
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:The food is exceptional and remarkably good value. During the week, out of season, one has to accept a limited choice but quite frankly we were happy to go along with the owners choice. Can't remember when and if We have had better food and service. At 40 Euro for a 4 course plus Le Muse Bouche ( appetiser ) gastronmique meal, it was exceptional value.
Review 11:At checkout, had to pay in cash due to area-wide service disruption of telephone (and thus credit card processing). To avoid, ask to pay at check-in.
Review 12:Personal service. Fantastic breakfast. Gorgeous village. Be sure to visit castle.
Review 13:That two days before arriving (received an email saying the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday). The alternative restaurant proposed and owned by the owner was poor value and a steak which took ages to arrive was ruined by being over cooked.
Review 14:The town and hotel's location
Review 15:Just a minor thing: Had to keep the shower running quite long to get warm water. Thin walls, doors so we occasionally heard other guests walking/talking.
Review 16:Location halfway up the hill allowed for a very pretty view of the town, including the castle. Also a good distance to walk off a heavy dinner in one of the restaurants down below on the river. Hotel itself is very nice, clean, cosy interior. Is in quiet area so we slept great, also with window open. We had one meal in the hotel, which was very good as well. Breakfast buffet all fresh and plenty of choices. Free parking on the street at the hotel. Close to the woods so if you go for hiking you'll be in nature within a few minutes. Supermarket Colruyt is on walking distance as well as several bakeries.
Review 17:- the bed and couch of the room seemed a bit outdated - a price close to 100 € is definitely not adequate for a one night stay in a double room even if the breakfast and location are perfect - there was no wifi connection in the room as was promised
Review 18:+ the location in Bouillon is really nice with a great view over the city; nice to stay there and not down in the touristy area + the room was big with lots of space to store your hiking equipment and personal belongings + excellent breakfast to get the day started with fresh pressed orange juice and lots of sweet and salty breakfast options
Review 19:Parking could be an issue.
Review 20:Worth paying extra for room with a view & WHAT A VIEW it was. Excellent Breakfast & Breakfast Room. Optional set 4 course dinner. Obliging host. Charming Hotel with Character. Clean & Comfy.
Review 21:Wifi was great is the lounge/bar area but very poor on the second floor. Parking is on the road but we managed to get the one off road one. So apart from two very minor things its a great, cosy hotel
Review 22:Location is excellent just far enough out of town although you have to be quite fit as its a bit steep. The lounge areas are very nice as are the dining room for Dinner and the eclectic Breakfast room. The host is very nice as are both of his cats! The food in the restaurant for dinner is superb and breakfast is good
Review 23:What's not to like!
Review 24:We have stayed at this lovely hotel once before, last year, and once again it didn't disappoint. Tha owner is friendly and speaks good English. The views from the elevated position over Bouillon are magnificent. The rooms are comfortable, clean and very well furnished. On this years touring holiday we stayed at a total of 12 hotels and this easily rates as the best value for money. Bouillon is a perfect picturesque first stop off for a touring holiday or for those travelling to Spain or the south of France. We would highly recommend both Bouillon and particularly the Hotel Cosy, we shall be back.
Review 25:Our room was very warm - a fan would have possibly helped to cool it down.
Review 26:Excellent breakfasts. The evening meal we had was also very good. Room size good. Good powerful shower.
Review 27:Quite a steep climb if you want to walk to and from the town.
Review 28:Nothing to complain about here, wonderful views, very friendly staff, excellent room. The food here is as good as you will find in any top restaurant. Very creative menus changed every day to utilise local produce.
Review 29:Luxury dinners, beautiful views over Bouillon town and castle, cozy lounge, bathtub with jets, great host!
Review 30:Great location. Friendly staff. Very well maintained.
Review 31:BED
Review 32:LIGGING
Review 33:The restaurant was closed.
Review 34:L
Review 35:The view from our room across the valley to the castle was beautiful.Breakfast and the evening meals in the restaurant are both excellent.
Review 36:Elevator access for those with accessibility issues was non existent.
Review 37:Location was great! Breakfast was great. Rooms were large and clean.
Review 38:Very friendly staff, a family atmosphere, you felt valued
Review 39:No slippers were available
Review 40:The room with the balcony was super
Review 41:Very well decorated hotel. Helpful staff. Beautiful views of Bouillon.
Review 42:Excellent views over the river and castle. Wonderful unusual hotel full of object d arts. Fantastic castle and river. Excellent breakfast
Review 43:* need for repeated wifi-login
Review 44:* very original 'castle-style' with nice spot-lights interior * wonderful view on castle * close to center
Review 45:Wifi needs to be improved to work in all areas
Review 46:Helpful proprietor re things to see and do.
Review 47:We only stayed one night
Review 48:Room, hosts, food and local beer
Review 49:Tea/coffee making facilities would be nice
Review 50:Location and food were excellent
Review 51:Cozy hotel in Bouillon - nice view. Very comfortable.
Review 52:Good room, good food, good service.
Review 53:None
Review 54:Very stylish room, excellent view on the castle. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent food in the restaurant. Would definitely recommend.
Review 55:Nothing except infirm people may not like the steps into the town .
Review 56:wondful view of town and castle. Very friendly and excellent breakfast.
Review 57:My main complaint was with the town itself because dog owners spoil it by letting their dogs foul everywhere. There seems to be no authority initiative to clean up the town.
Review 58:The owner was very friendly and helpful. We were in room 102, it was spacious and comfortable, and the view was excellent. Breakfast excellent and although we didn't eat evening meals, I was told by another guest that the food was very good. This is more than a 3-star hotel in reality, and I would recommend it to other visitors, although having to negotiate some stairs with luggage may be awkward for some.
Review 59:Only the breakfast coffee which was weak. It did take three days to work out the complex lighting controls but good for old peoples brains.
Review 60:We had probably best room complete with Jacuzzi bath and about 100lights. Food was excellant.
Review 61:Our 2 rooms were very dark, right at the back of the hotel with no outlook. Breakfast in dark windowless room. unable to eat on terrace or in conservatory overlooking valley. Two pussy cats were closed in the conservatory rather than guests being able to eat there. Owner too restrictive--suggested young guests should go to bed as he was; hotel locked if owners out. Wifi best on terrace. Very uncomfortable pillows due to rubber under covers. Overpriced.
Review 62:Great view of the caste and river from the terrace and conservatory.
Review 63:For me to write a review a hotel would have to be terrible, or excellent. This hotel, staff and location is excellent. We had a great time and if / when we visit Bouillon again we will certainly stay at Hotel Cosy again. Thank you to the hard working owners.
Review 64:We pass the hotel with the car and we don't see the sign of the hotel. They need to put another clear sign, that every one, from both sides of the road, will see in clear.
Review 65:Very, vert good breakfast.
Review 66:Lack of tea/coffee facilities in bedroom but this might be a general Belgium thing.
Review 67:Friendly staff, comfortable bed, excellent large shower, view towards castle, good choice of breakfast, superb dinner.
Review 68:The stairs if you have a mobility problem this is not the place to go
Review 69:Beautiful views across the River Semois to the Chateau Bouillon. Excellent food. Very interesting surroundings, if you like history this is the place for you
Review 70:All one can say about this hotel is great staff, great views , great food ,great comfort , we stayed for four nights and wished it could have been longer , Thank you Hotel COSY.
Review 71:Parking was easy, staff were very helpful and our room was extremelycomfortable with stunning views of the river and castle. The village is very interesting and offers plenty of eating and drinking options but try Hotel Cosy first - dinner there is VERY good !
Review 72:Only minus to mention was that stocks don't seem to be replenished at breakfast so if you arrive later there is less choice.
Review 73:The family room was really spacious and very comfortable. The hotel itself was 'cosy' and had a wonderful view over the town.
Review 74:We was staying in apartment with "jacuzzi", but this is just bath with simple bubbles, and it works so loud, so no relax at this noice. There is no internet, think cause this appartment most far from modem, but in order it marks like we should had. And they took 5euro just for hot water. So never again we will stay here.
Review 75:Good location, nice cats :)
Review 76:No full length mirror in the room
Review 77:The ideal location with wonderful views over the town and castle. The room was elegantly and comfortably furnished and the bathroom modern and well appointed,
Review 78:The free wifi was quite unstable. No biggie, but maybe something that could be fixed in the future?
Review 79:The very friendly welcome and the personal touch. The Breakfast was an excellent spread from pancakes over eggs to cheese and sausage. Also the even ing menue in the restaurant was delicious and absolutely worth the money. The view would have been lovely if it hadn't been for the bad weather. It's a great starting place to explore the area for their breweries, beautyful little villages and activities as hiking etc.
Review 80:A very friendly welcome. The hotel had a stunning view to the castle lit up at night. The evening meal was a first class set menu. Highly recommend.
Review 81:a situation with the host meant that no facilities were available on the night we stayed. no view from the room we had, although don't think anyone else was staying. under these circumstances we would have expected a reduction, or at least the cost of a Fanta from the mini-bar could have been waived !! the boar's head on the wall.
Review 82:excellent location overlooking town. unique, tasteful decor. lift to rooms. comfortable room. superb breakfast.
Review 83:Just having to lug our baggage up 2 flights of stairs again. We weretravelling from Australia for 7 weeks and have quite large suitcases. Not that we can expect to have lifts in these older buildings but youneed to be fit or ask for help. Also, we miss having tea/coffeemaking facilities in our room and this is common in Europe.
Review 84:Host was very friendly and helpful. The decor was fantastic, especiallyin the dining and lounge areas. One of our party was not well at thetime and appreciated that there was a very cosy blanket on each of thelounges which was nice to put over the knees! The view was fantastic(except in the fog!). We were not inclined to participate in the 4course dinner which was the only option but our host was very flexiblefor those of us with a different/smaller appetite and we were reallyglad we stayed for dinner. The food was beautiful.
Review 85:Only stayed over-night so didn't get to explore Bouillon the town.
Review 86:The welcome from the owner on arrival, and our room overlooking the river and castle. The dinner menu was also well thought through, and well presented.
Review 87:Town won't let them have elevator
Review 88:Great staff; beautifully furnished; Best breakfast during our 4 week trip. Marvelous view of castle and town. Definitely not your average 3 star hotel.
Review 89:Long way uphill if you don't have transport. Keeps you fit though :)
Review 90:Magnificent view from our room.Castle view hard to beat.Lovely view of the town below and the bend in the winding river.
Review 91:Only parking was on the street outside and the bathroom had a dirty cleaning cloth left in it [an oversight I'm sure]and no hand soap was provided. Very pretty town but actually not much to do for more than half a day.
Review 92:Great welcome and friendly staff, efficient check in owner spoke very good English. Spacious room[superior double] with mini bar but no view across the river. wonderful panoramic views from the terrace at the front though. The hotel is on a very steep slope but there is a lift that takes you from street level to the hotel reception .Excellent chef we had a fantastic set menu 4 course meal and breakfast with freshly made crepes was could not be faulted. Overall very good
Review 93:Nothing about the hotel, but the town seemed to close before 10pm
Review 94:The hotel was very nice and the room we were in was beautiful. The breakfast was very good. The views from the hotel was spectacular.
Review 95:No air conditioning. Ceiling fans trough out the hotel would be sufficient on hot days.
Review 96:Hotel staff were excellent. Owner/Chef was friendly, informative and very professional. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great view of the town and castle from the patio. Food was outstanding.
Review 97:The view from our room wasn't very good, but that was due to me requesting the SPA bath, next time i will go for the view instead
Review 98:The hotel lived up to its name "COSY", the owner greeted us in English and was the most enthusiastic and helpful of all our hotel stays that we have had. The SPA bath was an excellent addition to the room
Review 99:A very friendly welcome from the owner who clearly believes in his product. Wonderful food and a beautiful location. Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior, the interior is classical luxury.
Review 100:Lack of full lift to all floors which would be a disadvantage to elderly visitors.
Review 101:The hotel has a superb setting high above the town with a stuning view. The room we had to the front had been refurbished to a high standard with a new en suite shower. The dinner menu is set but the owner will fit in with your tastes. Excellent food & service. All in all we mabe an excellent choice & reccomend the hotel to any one.
Review 102:The manager/chef is a great guy, willing to accommodate one's needs. He speaks fluent English, which is very convenient because most people speak French only in the area. The hotel was extremely clean, and very comfortable. The rooms, true to the hotel name, are very cosy. Uniquely designed, they are great rooms to get a good nights sleep. The view is breathtaking from the rooms, and from the outdoor patio. It was only a few minute walk to the center of the village, and about a 15 minute walk to the castle. Excellent breakfast buffet! I walked the village multiple times, and Hotel Cosy has the best location in the village for viewing the castle.
Review 103:Nothing.
Review 104:Everything was excellent. This was our second stay at Hotel Cosy. From the welcome of the owner/chef - the room and its facilities - the evening meal and the breakfast. It was as good if not better than our first visit. Definately one to look for if you are in the area.
Review 105:Very nice (English speaking) personnel - in fact you are being met by the owner, who is also the chef at the hotel's restaurants - one of the best in the town. Very nich view on the whole town of Bouillon - especially in the eve/night when the castle is lighted.
Review 106:Manager/Chef Walter was just first class and gave us the closest attention. A surprising boutique hotel experience, excellent food and super individual rooms. All first class.
Review 107:Hotel location presents parking difficulties on roadside and hotel not easy to find if arrival after dark .
Review 108:New owner most accomplished chef and produced high quality evening meals and breakfasts . View over town quite superb provided you ask for a room with a view .
Review 109:On our room the fridge was quite noisy.
Review 110:The staff was very firendly and helpful. The food was very good with acceptable prices. The lounge was very comfortable and cosy. The bed was comfortable.
Review 111:I loved the location and the view from our room. A small and intimate hotel, nicely decorated. The food was excellent, staff very friendly, helpful and personable.
Review 112:The bed was a bit soft. The castle-view could only be seen from standing out on the balcony. The lift only took us from the street to reception, so we had to carry our bags and baby up the stairs from there.
Review 113:The friendliness & helpfulness of staff was exceptional. The view of the castle is lovely. The hotel restaurant food was amazing. The overall experience felt like fantastic value for money.
Review 114:nothing
Review 115:the staff were excellent and very friendly and attentive.the food was top class.breakfast one of the best weve ever eaten,in the most amazing room(waterfall ).will be returning asap.
Review 116:Hotel not staffed on final day of stay - required breakfast at next doorfacility, general areas closed to residents. Had to pay bill on daybefore departure. Internet disconnected mid-stay with no notification.
Review 117:Size of room.
Review 118:Cosy is the just the right word! Cosy and spacious rooms with relax areas and clean & fresh bed-/bathroom. The breakfast room was modern and fresh with a waterfall behind a glass wall! We even got an omelet fried individually! An enormous feeling for detail made you really feel at home. Cozy!
Review 119:Great hotel, with great views of the town from high up. A family run business by the looks of it with the 3 of them doing pretty much everything and they did it all really well. The food was excellent, the breakfast was great and the breakfast room was lovely, suits of armour, stuffed animals and natural waterfall behind a glass screen, sounds strange but it worked! The room was nice and comfortable, although there was a bit of noise from people going up and down the stairs (next to our room) not a major issue though. Highly recommended!
Review 120:Slightly difficult access up stairway with luggage to room.
Review 121:Excellent value for money and wonderful views across the township.
Review 122:upgraded to rooms with a view of the castle.
Review 123:Great view of town and Bouillon Castle from the hotel, full breakfast buffet, friendly staff.
Review 124:bathroom could have been cleaner
Review 125:dinner exellent but very small menu
Review 126:Incredible view of the river and fort. Excellent breakfast parking was free
