Reviews for Admiral Digby Inn and Cottages
Review 1:Restaurant is hit and miss. We dined several days in a row. The Scallops special was wonderful. However the more expensive platter for double the price included far less than expected. One lobster tail split between us and fewer Scallops. When your meal is that price you expect the whole tail!
Review 2:Amazing location and a beautiful property.
Review 3:The location was excellent and the view of the sunrise was amazing! The staff was very helpful. We also enjoyed the restaurant. Very good food at a reasonable price.
Review 4:The room was tucked away on the bottom of the 2nd building. Not much view. Ask for 1st floor but all rooms seem to have easy access. Wonder if because we booked though booking.com.
Review 5:The staff were great helpful & friendly. Would do anything to accommodate. Diningroom food very good.
Review 6:The area with the tub and toilet is like being in a phone booth. However, that would not deter me from staying there again!
Review 7:Loved the view! It was awesome to watch the sun rise.
Review 8:the rooms are a little bit dated and there are not too many options at breakfast for vegetarians
Review 9:the place has an amazing view and the staff are really nice and friendly people
Review 10:The pool had too much chlorine
Review 11:The view from our front door is magnificent. Having this place located on a little hill and by the water makes this a site to see...
Review 12:Bed was too hard and pool to chilly for our liking. Heard lots of movement in the room above ours.
Review 13:Sitting on the chairs outside overlooking the bay - very relaxing and beautiful. Restaurant was great food and staff very friendly. We were able to book a whe watching tour through reception which was very helpful. Rooms were very clean.
Review 14:* Wish it included breakfast.
Review 15:* The location was excellent with a beautiful view! It is also very close to the ferry terminal. * It is an older motel but very clean and comfortable. * Like the restaurant credit toward breakfast and on-site restaurant.
Review 16:All personnel (front desk evening and morning and servers in restaurants) were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. After driving a long day, we were happy the restaurant accepted seating until 9:00 pm. The food was served quickly and was excellent - Digby scallops were great!
Review 17:Bed mattress was very uncomfortable
Review 18:Customer service was poor when we checked in I asked if the hotel offered a CAA discount and I was rudely answered that I already received it at time of booking then when we checked out i was asked if I wanted the room charged to my credit card I responded that it was processed on the credit card when we checked in and again very rudely replied it was only preauthorized at check in if we were to return to Digby again I will be booking at another hotel based on the companies customer service very poor on that aspect
Review 19:Breakfast is not included and is pretty expensive
Review 20:The inn has cottages (they should be more!) where one has a quiet privacy. We stayed in a two bedrooms cottage, no 45, that was excellent. Also the inn is 2-3 km far away from the Digby-Saint John ferry pier. The menu at the restaurant is rich in seafood plates.
Review 21:The rooms are in desperate need of a makeover- new paint or wallpaper, new mattresses, update the bathrooms. Try to remove the musty smell.
Review 22:Excellent meals. Exceptionally clean facility. Super friendly, helpful staff. Magnificent location.
Review 23:Bed was OK, I slept well but my wife did not. Bathroom is a little dated and commode was not ADA height as you would expect in most modern hotels. Might be a concern for older travelers.
Review 24:The location was beautiful with a great view of the water from our balcony. Room was clean. Restaurant was acceptable, staff very accommodating, food was good. Hotel was just far enough out of town (5 minutes) to avoid any traffic or business noise.
Review 25:I had booked only 1 room and added a cot. When we checked in they said I booked 2 rooms so I ended up having to pay for 2 rooms instead of 1.
Review 26:The view was great, food was good for dinner. Staff was very friendly.
Review 27:Beds were hard as rocks! Wifi worked sporadicly. Very noisy! Could hear the neighbour on both sides and the constant walking from the room above!
Review 28:It was clean and the staff was very nice.
Review 29:The bed was worn-out and had hills and valleys from people sitting on the side of the bed too many times.
Review 30:Generally, the service was very good. The employees were friendly and eager to help.
Review 31:When I first got to the hotel the man on the desk was rude. But when I got back to the hotel latter to check in the lady on the desk was very friendly unlike the man. The pool had to much clorine it made your eyes water just sitting in the pool room while the kids swam.
Review 32:It had a nice view and was quite.
Review 33:There is nothing I did not like. The rooms lack bling, and breakfast is not included in the room rate, but the restaurant offers breakfasts much better than the waffles and reconstituted eggs offered by the chains.
Review 34:The location, near the ferry, provides excellent views of the bay, particularly from the upper floors. All rooms are directly accessible from the parking lot. There is a superb restaurant on site.
Review 35:I can't complain really.
Review 36:Front desk staff went above and beyond to get us a room at an excellent rate. We booked our room on line through an agency and booked a room that was above our budget.
Review 37:Older Building but well maintained. Could use new beds.
Review 38:Location, location, location. You are looking right out at Bay of Funde. Excellent view from all rooms and dinning room. Very friendly staff.
Review 39:In all areas this was an agreeable establishment. However, there was a very bad smell in our unit which I attributed to septic problems but later discovered it was specifically in my bed. This overshadowed any of the positives for me.
Review 40:Restaurant was a bit expensive and the breakfast was a bit disappointing
Review 41:Loved the pool, cost, proximity and the staff was fantastic. Room had everything you could need and bed was comfy
Review 42:Upon check-in our first room had a water pressure problem and we weretold the repair would be made later that afternoon but then the managerquickly moved us to another room so we could start settling in. This wasa problem solved effectively!
Review 43:Lobster dinner at the Admiral Digby Inn's restaurant was a feast toremember. Katie, our waitress, was a delight who offered interestinginfo about the area, history & must see sights around Digby like thedrive out Lighthouse Road.
Review 44:Everything was good.
Review 45:The view, friendly staff and the great value. If you want the best and newest then pay a lot more and stay in a big city. The Inn was clean, friendly and comfortable. Can't get much better than that in a small town.
Review 46:Comfortable, older hotel with good onsite restaurant and guest laundry facilities - we were able to do laundry while we had dinner. Nice water view from the large windows and convenient "motel" style parking outside the room door.
Review 47:continental breakfast disappointing
Review 48:excellent location for ferry, beautiful view at dinner and for all functions, excellent dinner, lobster, and about the best scallops ever
Review 49:Three nights on terrible, terrible beds. Both beds in the room were rock hard and one squeaked. The front desk staff was not helpful in mitigating the problem. I used all the blankets from both beds to make a "topper" for one bed, which helped. The pillows were over stuffed and uncomfortable too. Two steps up/down between main room and bathroom are a bit of a hazard. The nightlight used to illuminate them could be brighter.
Review 50:The view. Attractive rooms with nice decor. I was in one of the annex buildings, well away from the very noisy HVAC system on the main building, so it was nice and quiet. The wi-fi worked well enough. Too busy a schedule to use the dining room except for one breakfast. The dining room seemed nice enough.
Review 51:Quality of room for price was very well below what I expected for a hotel that would be excepting quest from other countries, given their location to the ferry terminal. The room was in bad need of repair. I believe the room was clean, but the state of the room made it appear dirty.
Review 52:Staff was excellent, they was prompt, courteous and professional. I would highly recommend the staff. The food in the restaurant was good with a goo variety to select from. The view of the bay was excellent..
Review 53:We thought the town of Digby was a little disappointing but Admiral Digby Inn, just on the outskirts, was in a wonderful setting, with great views both from the rooms and restaurant across the bay. The room was a good size, and we could park right outside so very easy to unload luggage. The restaurant was very acceptable, and the service good. There is a small laundromat, very useful for those on a long trip. It was an easy drive to the whale-watching boats on Digby Neck
Review 54:This place needs an update, washroom is smaller than i have found on a 737, than the stupid across the hall sink this motel is a tad bit dated.
Review 55:Liked the view, suggest the upper level, close to ferry to NB
Review 56:Location is great! Nice views from rooms 42 - 44! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms slightly dated, but large and comfortable. Beds a bit hard for my taste, but view from balcony and large room window were fantastic. Really appreciate fridge and microwave in room. One of the only digby locations with a pool indoors.
Review 57:Need to have a light that turns on just inside the door when you come in. Had to grope in the dark to turn on a light as had curtains closed. Other than that everything was great. Thank you.
Review 58:Loved the view and location
Review 59:The location - and view - were wonderful. Couldn't beat the proximity to the ferry. The view from our deck was lovely. Every single staff person we came in contact with was warm, friendly and helpful.
Review 60:Rooms on the first floor had a bad odour. Noise from the room above us keep us awake. Walls are thin, can hear people in next room. Constant traffic of noisy. Motorcycles into the early morning.
Review 61:Location.
Review 62:We were woken up by people talking loudly just outside our room. When I got up to close the window I noticed that one of the staff was involved in the conversation.... Not impressed.
Review 63:Small but clean
Review 64:Good clean room with 2 double beds. Great welcome and good staff everywhere. Excellent coffee and fridge. A great lobster/steak/scallop meal with cool Coors beer to accompany it. Used the swimming pool and that was a bonus. Would recommend to those going to brier island. The view from rooms and restaurant is unbelievable. Well done Admiral Digby!
Review 65:Didn't like that because my hubby was gone with the car, the cleaning attendant figured she could knock on the door and because I didn't jump immediately she walked in. For the love of Pete, it was 8 a.m. And I am on vacation let me sleep. But that was my only complaint.
Review 66:We loved our room, clean and inviting. The view of the Annapolis basin was a beauty to see. Close to everything we wanted to see and the Digby wharf. Even the seal playing around was a treat. We ate at the admiral restaurant, scenic view and awesome food. Digby scallops are highly recommended
Review 67:Very clean and well-appointed and the restaurant was very good. Having a pool and a laundromat was a big bonus.
Review 68:It seems to be an all-wood building so we heard the people above us walking, flushing the toilet and using the sink. Was very disruptive while sleeping. Didn't hear anything from neighbours on the sides.
Review 69:There was a hiccup with our booking for a cottage for 4, but it was settled on arrival for our one night stay with 2 rooms which were large and had a lovely view. Staff were very pleasant. Restaurant was very convenient and food good.
Review 70:I didn't like that the bathroom was so small and that the sink was across the hall.
Review 71:The beds were comfortable the staff were great the food was very good. I liked that we were close to everything,
Review 72:It was very basic accommodations, but probably $30 more expensive because of this convenience. Beds were old and sagging.
Review 73:It was close to the ferry port.
Review 74:Vacuuming in the room right above our room first thing in the morning that woke my 3 yr old grandson and I way before we were ready to wake.
Review 75:The view was beautiful.. Staff was remarkably accommodating...pool was great for the kids... lovely place all and all!!
Review 76:Travelling with two kids under 10, I would've loved if breakfast was included. We paid over $100 for the room and compared to the other hotels we used during our trip, this was the only place that didn't offer breakfast included in the cost.
Review 77:We loved the view of the water from our room; the staff were very helpful and nice. Pool was a bit cool but overall we had an excellent experience. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone staying in the area!
Review 78:The mattresses were VERY hard. the room smelt a little musty. We only got 3 bath towels each day even though there were 4 of us.
Review 79:location was lovely. breakfast in dining room was good although a little expensive.
Review 80:The only issue was the bathroom light where the sink was not over it but behind on the ceiling. There was some glare trying to put make-up on.
Review 81:Our room had a balcony overlooking the water, was very large and clean. Comfortable beds and good location.
Review 82:Good location if your going to take the Ferry to St. John in the morning , it is just minutes up the road. They serve a early breakfast so you can eat and make the 8am Ferry.
Review 83:I did not like their bathroom. It was devided, 2 small rooms. The toilet did not flush properly. The bathroom door did not lock, or stay closed.
Review 84:I liked the location, and the view, overall the room and the beds.
Review 85:cleaning was a little early cleaning some rooms before i was ready to get up nothin to mager but just thought should have waited till all check out first
Review 86:Nothing. Was all positive
Review 87:This place was super clean, staff was very friendly and accomadating. Bathrooms is renovated and huge. Wifi works very well. All in all great hotel great prices and best staff
Review 88:The pool was cold and cloudy and the change rooms are awful. The rooms are very tired and they have that old hotel smell.
Review 89:Excellent location, awesome view and the woman doing reception was very helpful and friendly.
Review 90:Location was beautiful. Room totally over looked the Bay. We were able to drive right up our door and walk in. The room was cozy, and comfortable. Great location to a nice little town. We totally enjoyed our stay. Leah, at the front desk was amazing, friendly.
Review 91:A little dated on the decor and the amenities. No coffee in the lobby, nor vending machines available.
Review 92:The Admiral Digby is well situated for sightseeing and offers a terrific view. Being close to the ferry is also a plus. Good quality vs price. We had supper at the restaurant and the service and the meal were excellent.
Review 93:The kitchen and lounge was closed a little early but at least I was able to purchase a few beer and they brought them to my room.
Review 94:I found the room very clean and everyone was very friendly. Also it is very close to the very terminal and the rooms have a beautiful view.
Review 95:the staff were very friendly and helpful and the view is amazing. I like the fact that every room has a view of the ocean, thanks and we will be back!
Review 96:Nothing
Review 97:From the view off our private balcony, to the beautifully decorated suite, to the wonderful restaurant, everything was top notch. Get the Digby Scallops - they are to-die-for!!! And the staff are just lovely - very friendly and accommodating. Everything was perfect. Thank you

Review 109:View. Nearby restaurant very good. We were there during motet cycle talley. Didn't do much.
