Reviews for Come from Away B&B

Review 1:Despite the rain, our accommodations were very pleasant and comfortable. We treated very well by our friendly hosts, Joe and Sharon. We only regret that we couldn't stay another night. The local info center and Digby museum were just steps away and very worthwhile.

Review 2:Unusual combination of flavours in the breakfasts

Review 3:Classic house, good room, Digby waterfront property located right downtown near shops and restaurants

Review 4:We had to leave at 7:15am in the morning and in the B&B description, it says they can accomodate an early breakfast. We checked in and let them know about our early check out and they responded with, sorry we can't do breakfast that early (even though on their brochure it says breakfast is from 7am-8:30am).

Review 5:Size of the room was nice.

Review 6:I have never been greeted by a person in such a rude way. We arrivedearly (10:00) because we were on the way to the Mariner WhaleCruise(which was wonderful) and with the ferries we wouldn't make itback to the B&B before 10:00 pm. I was just going to ask if we couldget our room keys now because I didn't want to wake them that late.Sharon was so rude, she told me no-one gets in before 3 and couldn'tI see that they had just finished breakfast and she was busy. My husbandwalked in at that time and she said "oh I guess another one want tocheck in" Oh my!! My husband asked her if she wanted us to leave. We didn't have any other reservation so we took our key and left. Wehad two nights booked and it was very uncomfortable for us . Itwasn't just me because we heard her talk to other people just asrudely. I feel sorry for her, obviously she is very unhappy with owninga b&B. I hope she find something she like better. On the other hand, her husband is a very sweet man.

Review 7:The location was wonderful and the property was so pretty.

Review 8:While I could connect to wifit, was often able to get bandwidth to download email and other simple websites.

Review 9:Excellent waterfront location within walking distance to lots of restaurants. Great breakfast, spacious clean room.

Review 10:No Big 'hello' nor any friendly smalltalk-Talk. A complete different experience than we usuelly made in Canada. 1st thing: we had to pay. Then we got the keys for a room to the Main Street although we had booked a room with seaview (only noticed this later once we had left). Then we got the information that breakfast is served at 8 a.m. - later we read in the booklet that breakfast is served between 7 and 9 or similar. They did not even give us a choice. At 8 a.m. we were standing at the door and waiting quite a Long Time until somebody came out of the kitchen and told us we can sit where we want. No 'Good Morning', after waiting another while we were served breakfast which was good although toast and coffee was not sufficient or took too long to get more. When we wanted to check out, same thing. Both in the kitchen, after waiting a while we were just told to put the keys at the front desk, unfriendly, no Thanks, no good-Bye! Not recommendable!

Review 11:Centrally located and by the sea.

Review 12:We stayed only one night SNIFF because we were off to the group campground to meet up with friends the next day. We'll be staying over with you again! Thank you! <3

Review 13:We had room no. 3 with view of the Sea. :) My son loved Gizmo, the little very friendly puppy of the owners. The washroom was very clean and emergency supplies of body wash etc. were offered. My son certainly wants to mention the complementary candy ... The parking at the rear of the house, and the backyard with seating to enjoy the view is a huge plus, too. The breakfast was nicely organised and richly yummy. My son loves the tiny wooden Digby fishing boat he got from the souvenir shop. Thank you so much! We had such a wonderful stay with you! <3

Review 14:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; food and comfort were both excellent; our hostess was cheerful and friendly throughout. We're fond of older homes like this one, so it appealed to us a lot.

Review 15:Nothing bad to say.

Review 16:Everything was top notch, lovely home, great hospitality and breakfast, with all the comforts of home. On the water and close proximity to everything in town as well.

Review 17:The tea and coffee was outside of the room and the breakfast was unusual. It would help to have better blinds at the windows as it was very light in the morning.

Review 18:Joe was very nice, welcoming and helpful, his wife - less so. Comfortable and clean. It was a useful base before whale watching.

Review 19:We loved that it is situated on the ocean. We can walk down to the dock or into the boathouse with a morning coffee. The space is amazing. We planned on cooking our own meals and it worked out perfectly. Plenty of room. Loved it.

Review 20:Windows in room do not open, claustrophobic feeling. It was fresh outside but had to sleep with A/C (+noisy machine). Seems in need of all windows changing/update.

Review 21:Nice hosts, good location for a cash prior to taking the ferry. Try other places nearby for more up-to-date facilities.

Review 22:Wonderful breakfast in a lovely setting. Innkeepers were laid back and informative about the area. Large lawn chairs overlooking the water and a view of the fishing boats was very picturesque.

Review 23:Bed was way too soft. Could hear our upstairs neighbors every time they walked or flushed a toilet. We stayed in the rooms outside of the inn - close to the water.

Review 24:Right on the water. Walking distance to good restaurants. Lovely couple that run the B&B. Very helpful. Delicious hot breakfasts.

Review 25:Joe and Sharon run a first class establishment. We wished we could have stayed longer. They gave us excellent ideas for exploring the area too.

Review 26:Could not open the windows, and it was very stuffy in the room. The lights from the adjacent building were on all night and shone into our room despite closing the blinds.

Review 27:Joe was very accommodating with our changes in dates as we were visiting friends in Nova Scotia who helped us with our itinerary that allowed us to spend another day with them. They also had the best breakfast we have had since arriving. Excellent accommodation and service.

Review 28:Slightly noisy heater in room overlooking harbour, but I am a very light sleeper.

Review 29:Choice of room in the house or room in back building with better view. Breakfast was excellent. Enjoy homes with character.

Review 30:Nothing!

Review 31:Our original room was to be in the main house. It was lovely, but we asked to see the room overlooking the Digby harbour........beautiful deck and view! We upgraded and greatly enjoyed the deck overlooking harbour. Very comfortable, and breakfasts excellent! Short walk to restaurants and shops!

Review 32:Not having coffee making facilities in the room. There was no choice for breakfast.

Review 33:The location was good and, if warm, the view from the garden beautiful.

Review 34:My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was easy to find and a great location. Our hosts were friendly and we had agreat breakfast. We would definitely recommend this B & B.

Review 35:Stayed for two nights.Hosts not nearly as friendly as the other dozen B&Bs we stayed in. Hosts did not introduce themselves so we still don't know their names. A female guest was carrying a very heavy suitcase down the stairs and hosts, sitting on the sofa watching TV, commented that the suitcase looked heavy. They made no effort to assist. We were told breakfast was available only after 8 AM, but on our departure at 7AM to catch the ferry there was a couple having breakfast. We were told there was no decaff coffee. Upstairs we found decaff packages and brought one to the dining room only to be scolded that these were only for upstairs.

Review 36:Location.

Review 37:Hostess was unfriendly accused us of trying to get cleaning woman to clean our room before others were done. Completely untrue and really put a damper on our stay. We were unable to access any other part of the house other than our tiny room!

Review 38:This B&B needs a woman's touch. Joe is the one primarily in charge of the guests while his wife seems disengaged. The bathroom was small, inconvenient with little help space. The bedroom was snug but the bed was very comfortable.

Review 39:The location (close to the St. John ferry) was ideal. Our host, Joe, warmed up breakfast for us at 6:30a so that we could make the morning ferry. The sitting area at the end of the hallway was delightful with a good view and with space to talk and visit. Inadvertently, left my camera in that sitting area and discovered its absence the next morning. To my delight, it was sitting on the downstairs desk in the morning; a guest had turned it in!

Review 40:Loved the waterfront chairs with a fire pit! It had a great view and was in a great location, just a very short walk to the downtown (one block away). We had a great time and I wish we had booked another night!

Review 41:It was fine

Review 42:Stayed in the annex. Motelish. Clean decent accommodation. Nice view of the sound. Nice houses great scallops good place for an overnight stay.

Review 43:Lack of choice for breakfast (though what we were offered was good). Fixed time for breakfast. Windows didn't open so used fan - air conditioner too noisy to run overnight

Review 44:Right by the bay with fabulous view of sea and harbour

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:Lovely house with charming rooms. Also had a separate building with 6 more rooms. We stayed in the house. You can sit on the grass at the end of the property and watch the harbour. Or take a 2 minute stroll to reach the centre of Digby. Owners were very friendly and breakfast was great.

Review 47:The beautiful early 1900 home was exceptional. Enjoyed the history behind the house, the antiques, and view of water. Great breakfast. Owners were friendly and helpful.

Review 48:The room was clean and cozy. The parlour had an amazing view over the digby bay, you can spend time on the back yard, sitting on chairs overlooking the ocean. Very good breakfast.

Review 49:Don't park under the cherry trees!!!

Review 50:Early breakfast for those catching early ferry!!! Delicious breakfast too! Location perfect with a great host!

Review 51:That Joe never told us what was for breakfast the night before as on my birthday I was served a mushroom soufflé and I dislike mushrooms. So would recommend to people you must let Joe know as he will not ask you if you don't like certain foods.

Review 52:This beautiful heritage house was a nice place to stay and room was comfortable. Our 3 1/2 hour whale watching tour ( Petit Passage) was great as we were entertained by some humpback whales. Thank you Sharon for booking this tour for us.

Review 53:The two dogs on the premises were quite smelly due to their age and the temperature during my stay. I'm allergic to dogs so had to take meds accordingly.

Review 54:Room was fine, good value, very good breakfast. Lovely host. Highly recommended for those without animal allergies.

Review 55:They served us warm breakfast at 6:30 so we could catch the early morning ferry! The back yard is right by the water, a great view from the two adirondack chairs. The night sky is pretty good in this area, not much light pollution.

Review 56:Joe was very friendly and helpful, the rooms had anything that you could want and were beautifully decorated and clean/comfy the breakfast was more than expected with eggs and fruit and bacon and coffee, and the view from the back lawn compete with Adirondack chairs was breathtaking-a vista of Digby/surroudning mountains. highly recommend!!! and how could I forget Todd and Gizmo :)

Review 57:lack of desk/table space in room

Review 58:Friendly dogs, great breakfast, walking distance to downtown and harbour, restaurant recommendation for fresh scallops

Review 59:Very luxurious bedroom styles. Separate sitting area overlooking bay for tea and coffee or relaxing. Great unique breakfast choice. Close to the whale watching options and owner gave good advice on who to go with. Very friendly owners. Our bedroom had a beautiful private bathroom but It was not an ensuite so We still had to leave room to go to bathroom in night. If this bothers you make sure you ask for ensuite room.

Review 60:I have to comment that we notified the owners by phone that we would be late arriving, due to unforeseen circumstances, at around 8.30pm. Their reply was that we were "late already" and that we had to arrive by 10pm at the latest. We told them we would arrive shortly and got there at 9.30pm (which I didn't think was unreasonable!). Upon arrival we were met with a frosty welcome by the lady of the house who made it clear she wasn't happy that we had arrived at that time! It made us feel uncomfortable, even the next morning at breakfast. The BnB info did not say that we should arrive by a certain time and I feel that allowances should be met for guests who occasionally arrive late, due to no fault of their own, such as late flights, etc. The owners never asked us if we had a problem or even chatted to us at all. I was told to keep the front door closed as I brought my luggage in, as their dog may escape. In my view, the dog should be kept away from guests and from the door, as not everyone is a fan of dogs...I am by the way, but my husband is not. Also at breakfast several items, such as orange juice and bagels were not replenished. I did like the room at the BnB, but feel the owners attitude could be kinder, as they are in the hospitality business.

Review 61:House was lovely and room was of a good size. Breakfast was nice.

Review 62:Size of one room is like a prison cell. We won't go with Petit Passage whale cruise anymore.

Review 63:You won't find any better place in Digby, as long as you haven't booked the lowest priced room.

Review 64:Wonderful owners and very helpful in recommending and reserving a place to have our anniversary dinner. Loved that it is on the waterfront. Digby has a very pretty waterfront.

Review 65:Our room was tiny but that is what we paid for. Probably would upgrade next time.

Review 66:Very good breakfast. Great location walking distance to local restaurants. Fun to meet other guests.

Review 67:No complaints at all. I really enjoyed my experience here and would recommend Come from Away to any visitors to the Digby area.

Review 68:The location was excellent - unhidered views out over the Bay of Fundy. Joe is an excellent cook, the breakfasts were delicious, filling and catered for individual tastes. I slept so well the three nights I stayed here. The rooms are beautiful and sitting on the front porch or down in front of the water, after a days sighseeing was the perfect way to end the day
