Reviews for Avenue Boutique Hotel
Review 1:Had a fabulous stay before Christmas. The staff were amazing - friendly, helpful with perfect English. The room was comfortable, clean and warm with some lovely touches. Breakfast was delicious and well presented. It was continental with breads, jam, croissants, cheese, cold meats and boiled eggs. The best bit was the lobby/lounge area with a beautiful fire, the perfect place to relax with a book and a glass of red wine in the winter. Great location, 5 min walk from a Metro station and 15 min walk to Tivoli Gardens. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it.
Review 2:Shower room a bit too small
Review 3:Staff are friendly welcoming and helpful. Relaxed and easy atmosphere. I arrived earlier than expected but as the housekeeping staff were ready I was able to check in early which was really great. Breakfast was flexible and very nice. Thank you to all the staff!
Review 4:The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We particularly enjoyed the comfortable bar/lounge chill out area. Breakfast was also excellent. We had a truly wonderful stay- thank you!
Review 5:The window in the bathroom was faulty and did not close fully so despite the floor heating it was really cold, especially in the evenings! Perhaps the management should look into this (room 104). Other than that, excellent experience.
Review 6:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - they gave us excellent recommendations and even made restaurant reservations for us! The breakfast was excellent.
Review 7:Friendly staff, good location close to the Forum metro station, plenty of local (reasonably priced) restaurants nearby and very comfortable and spacious rooms. The whole atmosphere was luxurious and welcoming. Great wi-fi accessibility.
Review 8:Would have liked a kettle in our room being English we love our tea and this would have been a great addition to our room.
Review 9:Staff are really friendly, always attentive and helpful. We asked for directions and food places and every time we found the hotel staff couldn't do enough to help us really lovely service. Great location to city just jump on bus 12 and in a few minutes your in the city centre - brilliant.
Review 10:What a fabulous place. The hotel itself is on a main road, but once you walk into it, you do not notice this at all. Attention to detail is absolutely fantastic, customer services exceptional. Extremely cosy lounge / bar area, very comfortable bedrooms, great breakfast, really really recommend Avenue Boutique. We rented bicycles from them, and Copenhagen became extremely easy to navigate. Delighted with whole stay
Review 11:Nothing we didn't like, honestly!
Review 12:The staff is awesome! They're helpfull, friendly, full-on to service and make you feel welcome The ambiance of the lounge and bar is great, you can have a good red wine or warm fresh tea and sit for hours in the comfy chairs. The room we had was great, all we needed and more. The breakfast is fantastic, fresh fruits, salad, croissants - all fresh, very tasty. It's a 10 minutes walk downtown, and a 5 minutes walk to Metrostation Forum from where you can travel anywhere. Without a doubt I would book again when travelling to Copenhagen.
Review 13:Had to change room as first bathroom smelled horrible! Pricey bar and the rooms NEED freshened up!
Review 14:Bar area, breakfast and the staff were very friendly. Only a few minutes walk to Forum Metro. GREAT pub across the road!
Review 15:On our last trip, we were unable to stay there as our daughter was unwell. The response of he hotel in sorting this out was excellent. They were understanding and obliging. It says a great deal about how they treat customers - extra well done to Simone on the desk.
Review 16:What I did not like is the showercurtain in the batihroom, it kept on sticking to me while I was showering, a nuisance. But that's really it.
Review 17:I liked almost everything.
Review 18:Bit out of town - busy road outside but hotel well insulated.
Review 19:Very comfortable lounge - excellent healthy breakfast choices. Staff helpful and informative.
Review 20:Tiny single room! and single means single - only a single bed was provided, yet it still obscured part of the bathroom door. I only stayed between midnight and six AM. If I'd have stayed longer or needed to work in the room I would have gone crazy.
Review 21:Very friendly staff, quiet hotel during the night, good free Wifi.
Review 22:The only drawback was the cost---but it was still very reasonable, considering that this was Copenhagen. It was well worth the expense!
Review 23:The atmosphere was lovely----and the overall design of the hotel interiors (something that is a priority for us) was very pleasing. The staff was great, and very accommodating when we had some special requests.
Review 24:Helpful and welcoming staff at reception desk, nice room, cleanliness, forniture of the hotel, very good wifi, excellent breakfast included in the room price
Review 25:The room was facing a busy street, OK during the winter when you don't need to have the window open much, but I suspect during summer would be too noisy. For those who like to sleep with windows open I would suggest to ask for the room from the backyard side.
Review 26:Professional, but very friendly staff. Very nice room - we booked standard double, but got an upgrade to superior double without extra pay - very spacious with the bathroom the had heated floor - fantastic feature. Very nice lounge with soundproof glass cut of all the noises from the busy road. Location two metro stops or 30 mins walk from the city center.
Review 27:Bathroom is very basic despite the nice Orla Kiely toiletries
Review 28:Great staff but this seems to be typical of the Danish people who are very friendly and warm. Really enjoyed the lounge.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:The hotel was comfortable and well located for reaching city centre activities and transport links, while being relatively quiet. Staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful and breakfast was good and well managed. The location was good for restaurants.
Review 31:More staff are needed at breakfast time to clear the tables.
Review 32:The hotel was trendy and welcoming. The staff were excellent and made great recommendations for dinner. We would definitely return and recommend this hotel.
Review 33:Minor detail, but tea/coffee making facilities and a little more storage space for clothes would have been welcome in our room.
Review 34:Very friendly and helpful staff, clean, tidy, cosy lounge bar and bedroom. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 35:Couldn't have the window open as our room faced a busy road and was noisy. No problem with noise with the windows shut.
Review 36:The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good. Book a table in a restaurant in the Tivoli gardens for us even though they couldn't get through before we had went out.
Review 37:I don't mind a small (=tiny) room, but the shower in the minuscule bathroom was really not comfortable.
Review 38:Friendly staff, nice bar and breakfast. Reasonable value for money.
Review 39:Room was not cleaned the second day of our stay.
Review 40:Staff was very helpful. Parking was very convenient and reasonably priced. Breakfast offered a wide variety of good food. Plenty of places to sit while eating.
Review 41:There was a strange, bad odour in the bathroom and it didn't go away by flushing water. So I believe there has been a water damage earlier and that had caused this odour. The room I'm writing about is number 111.
Review 42:Good service, spacious room and good breakfast.
Review 43:Excellent hotel , very comfortable, lovely breakfast, spotlessly clean and an easy 20 minutes walk to city centre. Copenhagen has a superb transport system with bus stops and metro stop close by. Staff extremely polite and helpful.
Review 44:The elevator was small! Not room enough for a stroller!
Review 45:The trippel room was spacy and nice in every way. Overlooking the backyard we did not notice any trafficnoice at all! And the staff were so helpfull and sweet :) Only a short walk to the Metro from the hotel! We really enjoyed our stay!
Review 46:Helpful, friendly staff. Good sized rooms with closets for clothes (unusual in Copenhagen) Nice bar and great breakfast. A short walk to town centre.
Review 47:the walls to my room were paper thin and I could hear anytime someone walked passed or was talking on the landing. So don't select a room on the 2nd floor near the elevator.
Review 48:great hotel! They have a lovely stylish patio at the back, and a chic, yet homely living room area next to the bar. Good location near Forum metro, but busy road outside hotel.
Review 49:there isn't anything I did not like
Review 50:everything - the atmosphere, the helpfulness of the staff, the hotel's simple and yet sophisticated décor - in one word superb!
Review 51:Standard double room is London-size small, bathroom seems dated and is really tiny. Location is not super-central, nor too far away from city centre, but all in all hotel is overrated
Review 52:Polite, attentive staff. Good beds and cozy hotel "bar"
Review 53:The room was spacious and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. The staff were very friendly and professional. They were very helpful and went out of their way to help, even recommending a local restaurant and booking a table for us. There a some lovely local restaurants within a 10 minute walk and some information about them in the hotel would be useful but that is not a complaint as we had a lovely time and would use the hotel again, indeed would recommend it to people. The reception area is very good and the bar and seating area is well designed and comfy, also a great outdoor patio area.
Review 54:On our first night we were given very noisy rooms It was fixed the next day but the rod on the street side are very noisy
Review 55:Great staff Nice bar and lounge
Review 56:If I had to change anything it would be the location. The hotel is on a very busy main road. We had a bedroom at the rear of the hotel which was generally quiet.
Review 57:The hotels staff were very helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. The courtyard was a nice place to sit on a comfy seat and chill out. The breakfast was delicious.
Review 58:Quite a large room for the money, at least compared to other Scandinavian countries. Beautiful courtyard with heat lamps and plenty of lounging space - and you can order beverages from the bar and drink them outside in comfort. Just a few blocks away from Forum metro station or a 25 minute walk from city center.
Review 59:A 20 minute walk to the townhall and Tivoli which was ok when not raining as it was for much of our stay.
Review 60:The staff friendliness, the facilities and the buffet breakfast. Close to the Forum Metro on the airport line. Close to the canal with nice walkways.
Review 61:Room facilities were quite worn out esp the shower facilities. Very thin walls I could even tell the type of tv programs my neighbors were watching.
Review 62:Cozy room. Free wifi.
Review 63:Shower is tiny and has a curtain that clings to you as you shower. The entire bathroom floor still ends up wet after a shower. There is also no shelf in the shower to put the soap, etc. Sure, it was a "small single room", but I still expect a usable shower, especially for 140 EUR/night. Had I seen a photo of it, I'd never have booked the room. Room key is not electronic and is attached to a huge "keychain", apparently designed to discourage the guest from taking the key with them. You're supposed to leave it at the desk each time. This is an inconvenience and a potential security risk. Not huge, but unnecessary. I don't expect such things in 2015, in one of the most developed countries in the world and (again) for 140 EUR/night. Breakfast food is good, but there is too little space around it and it can get very crowded and disorganised with guests and staff bumping into each other all over the place. Won't be staying here again.
Review 64:Food at breakfast is pretty good. Free umbrellas - important in Copenhagen.
Review 65:Room faced rear of the hotel and lots of noise from the outdoor terrace until early hours of the morning. Also noise from corridor and other rooms. bed to soft and not enough pressure in the shower
Review 66:Good location, short walk to cafes and restaurants and nice suburbs.
Review 67:I usually check position on Google maps and make other research on Google before booking but didn't have the time, so I quickly booked this hotel just reading the reviews on booking.com. The hotel is on the main road, too far from the center, rooms with ugly view: my room, as half of all the others, has windows on the main street. Ugly wall-to-wall carpeting. Poor furnitures and bad taste design staff put casually around the hotel. I would not call this hotel "boutique hotel". This is just an overvalued three-star hotel.
Review 68:The only elevator was very small and very slow. After two trips for my wife and I to get to our room it was very unsettling to find a suitcase on the floor and someone sleeping in our bed. Back to reception. The lady there didn't seem fazed - gave us another room. After two more trips in the elevator we settled in. This hotel has no airconditioning, and it was quite warm on two nights of our stay.
Review 69:The location - about 1km walk into the town hall, close to the metro, laundromat close, several good restaurants etc.
Review 70:Traffic noise was loud as we were at the front of Hotel would have changed rooms but it was fully booked Also room a bit hot no air con and traffic noise meant we couldn't have windows open .
Review 71:We really loved the wonderful staff and great decor . The garden area was pretty the breakfast wonderful room great value for money.
Review 72:Excellent and very helpful staff Off the beaten track (which I find a plus) about 30 minutes walk from main sites. Plenty of good and inexpensive eateries in the neighborhood
Review 73:i'd rather they put a kettle and some coffee/tea in the room instead of an empty bar fridge that hummed all night. Location isn't that great if you want to walk anywhere. And weekend nights can get noisy with parties around the residential hotel going on late into Room was very warm during my stay (in August) but I imagine it's probably great in winter!
Review 74:Minutes from the metro. Bikes available for hire.
Review 75:When I booked I asked for the two rooms to be close as we were travelling with children. After much shuffling the best the hotel could manage was opposite sides of the hotel on different floors. I gave them 6 weeks notice so I thought this was rubbish. Breakfast was chaotic and a rip off. serving area too small for too many people and the choice of food was limited.
Review 76:Our room was spacious and it had a bath which I had requested. The sun terrace was fantastic as were the hotel bicycles.
Review 77:The bathroom in our room was a bit old and worn. The hotel seemed understaffed at the weekend - not enough staff to fill up the breakfast buffet. Housekeeping was always very late in doing the room: 16.30-17.00.
Review 78:The staff was very friendly. The room was nice and spacious and the patio/terasse was great.
Review 79:The rooms are very smal, Copenhagen is in all very expensive , even price of hotel rate Hotel is not placed very central , but has good bus connection
Review 80:The house is very nice, old 19 th century style, Staff very friendly and always helpful Very good breakfast with delicious black bread Cosy garden with nice beds- relaxing area
Review 81:The room was too warm. There was no air-co in the room. For that price we expected a little bit more luxe. We pay half of that price for a 4 stars hotel-comfortable family room in the Novotel in Hamburg.
Review 82:Our initial room was to small barely room for 2 large bags, shower drain not working,smell..Very unhappy...The manager kindly upgraded us to a larger room . A little out of town, mainly families...Staff were great...Do not book double room...always superior...
Review 83:Expensive. The curtains didn't block the light. No air-conditioning. The blanket was too hot on a summer night.
Review 84:Fancy hotel, nice lobby and patio, excellent breakfast. Walking distance from city centre (15-20 minutes), bus stop and underground nearby.
Review 85:Location was OK but not the closest to the centre of town (a 20 minute walk). Parking is available but quite expensive at £10 per day and this is not made clear when booking.
Review 86:The staff were fantastic - helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and probably the best looking hotel staff on the planet. The 'continental' breakfast selection almost converted me from the traditional holiday full english. The bar and courtyard seating area is very nice.
Review 87:Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a parking space behind the hotel. The room was clean and classy. Large breakfast, cosy lounge and terrace. We had a room on the street side but it was well isolated from outdoor noise. Not too close to the city center (a 25 minute walk), but only a 5 minute walk to the brand new metro station.
Review 88:1/ It's quite a far walk to the town. You should cycle ! 2/ room facing main road is noisy when the window is opened.
Review 89:Friendly staff Efficient
Review 90:Poor quality of room cleaning is really dragging the hotel down. Seems that housemaids mostly just change towels and bring new amenities. Everything looks dusty and not fresh. For example, when we arrived we had hair on the floor in the bathroom which were removed only 3 days later, after we asked the maid personally. Ridiculous thing - there is not a free electric socket in the room at all! If you want to charge your phone you need to pull out a lamp or TV.
Review 91:Good location (5 min walking to metro), very friendly and helpful staff, stylish atmosphere. Very good WiFi speed. Not bad and various continental breakfast.
Review 92:Great location: 5 min from Forum metro station or 2 min from bus stop. Great value, fraction of price compare to similar hotel centrally located. Cozy and friendly and helpful staffs
Review 93:Avenue Boutique was the first hotel in our month long trip and provided the best breakfast. Large adn interesting selection with delicious items. They provide bicycles to hire which you can use all day including the evening. The staff were relaxed, happy and very friendly. They readily and patiently gave you time to help with questions, any ideas for things to do and restaraunt suggestions. I especially liked the outdoor lounge area with comfy lounge chairs, a great place to hang out from breakfast to evening, and has sunny seats as well as shaded, great on the 29 degree days.
Review 94:The quality of sleeep was lacklustre. There eere no blinds or curtains just a net on the window so once the sun was up you knew all about it. Also we felt that the neighbouring building across the road was getting a good glimpse in, so no privacy either. Finally it does get noisy as our room faced on to the main and we needed to keep window open to regulate temperature
Review 95:Staff are extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast was not on the very fancy side but all very tasty. The outdoor space was really enticing for the morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. Very good value for money
Review 96:We didn't have enough time there!
Review 97:Terrific! The staff was wonderful. They had great recommendations for where to eat and what to do. They also were great when storing our bags - we have a 1 year old, and we kept forgetting stuff for him. They were very sweet. The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the place had a lot of charm. There is fruit-flavored water in the lobby, and they have contracted prices with taxis to the cruise port (where we were headed next). Easy walking distance to other parts of the city. There are some lovely parks very close, including where Hans Christian Andersen is buried. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 98:Staff are the best, friendly helpful, room comfortable, clean and 416 spacious.Loved the heated floor in bathroom!Free Wifi, and great breakfast plenty of variety. Close to city but not right in 10 min walk, bus and metro very close.
Review 99:Would not have front facing room as road noise is very noticeable(friends had front facing room)
Review 100:Recommend back facing rooms (we stayed three times in 6 weeks) are recommended.Staff were the best we have ever had in our many travels, friendly and went out of their way to help with recommendations as to what to do see and where best to eat locally.Hotel had every thing you wanted was clean & comfortable, free wi fi, breakfast good variety,Comfortable lounges on nice patio area to sit and free entertainment on occasions, location excellent just out of hustle and bustle suited us perfectly.10 min walk to city center bus stop 50 meters from hotel, walking distance to metro.
Review 101:Road noise if you are in a front bedroom and want your window open.
Review 102:Staff are so helpful and friendly! Garden is a nice bonus and you are 3 minutes walk from Forum metro station which is great for getting around. Being between 2 great districts is great for going off the tourist trail. Plus you can walk to the city in about 25 minutes.
Review 103:The staff was extremely helpful with recommending places to eat and arranged aflat-rate taxi for us. Also, the lounge in back of the was delightful -- the perfect place to unwind with a glass of win in the evening!
Review 104:Excellent staff made us feel welcome on arrival and throughout. Hotel has good facilities, is very comfortable and a very relaxing environment.
Review 105:Being vegetarian, there was limited choice at breakfast. The room would benefit from tea/coffee making facilities and a shower cap!
Review 106:There were bikes available for hire and the staff were all super helpful and friendly. The room was clean with several nice little touches for comfort. The hotel was well located - although not central to Copenhagen, everything was accessible within a short walk/cycle.
Review 107:Good central position. Lovely friendly staff. We were able to hire bikes from the hotel. I have been to the hotel before and it was just as lovely as before. A very nice hotel.
Review 108:It was very hot, our room faced the street, it was too noisy to keep window open.
Review 109:Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Great breakfast. Not too far for walking to many areas.
Review 110:Only issue is if your room faces the busy street. The windows keep out most noise, but if you want to sleep with the windows open for some fresh air, it can be a bit loud.
Review 111:The staff is very helpful with directions and restaurant ideas. The outside seating area is beautiful and quiet. The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to central things and 3 blocks to the metro. The breakfast is fabulous! Freshly baked breads, lots of options.
Review 112:Poor breakfast choices, Bed size was not according to requested one (instead of one king size- two joint beds). Wi-Fi speed was very poor, usable mainly for light browsing. Bar offers food until 21:00, Minibar was empty, not even water.
Review 113:Parking provided, Easy to find, Friendly staff Clean room, with facilities. Top floor room was provided as requested.
Review 114:nothing
Review 115:hotel easy to find with good car parking;just a short 20 min stroll into the city;lovely bar/reception area with friendly efficient staff;nice big bedroom. hotel clean;breakfast very good;plenty of bars and restaurants nearby
Review 116:The location wasn't in the center of town
Review 117:The staffs really friendly, and helpful. We have an early flight, they have a nice breakfast pack waiting for us at the front desk when we left.
Review 118:No air conditioning and very noisy street outside so you don't want to open window either. Breakfast average at best.
Review 119:Nice old house, not far from centre
Review 120:Very relaxing hang out lounge. live local music in outdoor lounge area pleasant surprise. fantastic breakfast. could bring outside food into lounge.
Review 121:Don't hire hotel bicycles. Much better deals available at other hire centres (1 based right near hotel)
Review 122:Convenient , comfortable and quiet location. Helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Review 123:Small rooms, tight hallways, dinky elevator
Review 124:Reception, lobby, bar take up the main floor and are far more glorious than the rest. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 125:no remarks
Review 126:- location (close to the metro station, close to the city centre, 20 min from the airport) - fantastic breakfast - clean rooms and very friendly service - comfy outside & inside lounge
Review 127:The electric ductwork in the bedroom was lifting (coming away from the wall).
Review 128:The reception staff exceeded our expectations with their help and friendlyness
