Reviews for Le Ciel d'Uyuni

Review 1:The electrical wiring was pretty scary ! Espescialy the shower .. Balcony door Brocken and selo taped shut ! Not enough curtains to cover windows ..

Review 2:No hot water in the shower. Poor breakfast.

Review 3:It was close to the train station. The bed was clean and comfortable. Wasn't expecting much, considering it was in Uyuni.

Review 4:Freezing Cold shower(although I asked for hot and staff claimed it's "hot"!) Unhelpful and unfriendly staff (we couldn't even get hot water for our cup noodles, and was asked to pay first after long trip on train, with our huge bags on shoulder! ) Strange smell towels and bad smell from toilet We moved out immediately early in the morning even we have not enough time to find another hostel! But hostel in Uyuni are generally not good, if you are going there you should be well prepared for that, and leave immediately after having seen what you want!

Review 5:Weak hot shower pressure, however it's not uncommon in Bolivia

Review 6:It's standard is definitely above the average accommodation in Bolivia. Good facilities considering Uyuni is not exactly a developed town. Great location to main street of food and kiosks. Helpful staff to help get a taxi for you 6am in the morning to the airport.

Review 7:Cold showers in private bathrooms which were not cleaned properly with hair in the sink and on the shower floor. Breakfast was simple. Comparatively overpriced.

Review 8:Centrally located to all amenities with great wifi. The hostel is modern and bright with comfortable beds and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Review 9:The water from the shower was very little and didn't get warm enough.

Review 10:It's located in the very good location, not far from the station. Also, the building and the facility are still new.

Review 11:We paid 75 usd for a 3-person room. But the room doesn't have facilities you should expected for such price. We cannot even borrow fork and knife from the so-called hotel to eat our cup noodles. The normal price for the hostel in Uyuni is 50 -75 Bolivianos for 1 person. At the last night, we got to stay in a hostel, 140 bolivianos for 2, including a private bathroom. Shower was not hot enough. There is no curtain to separate the shower area from the toilet bowls. There was not enough hook in the bathroom to hang up our clothes. It was a bit not convenient when we took our shower as the splash from shower head would easitly make our clothes wet.

Review 12:Breakfast was nice. Has ham cheese berries and fruit.

Review 13:Breakfast was very minimal Shower in our room wasn't warm water or strong pressure

Review 14:Late checkin and staff was still waiting. Very comfortable beds for a good rest before Salt Flats (coming from altitude in Potosi)

Review 15:Nobody at hotel when we turned up about 2pm had to wait nearly an hour for anyone to show up and check us in

Review 16:Bed was comfy with plenty of blankets aNd they had made an effort with room decor

Review 17:The staff were not very attentive at all. Didn't show us to our room just told us what number (not even what floor!) then she proceeded to watch TV and spend time with her boyfriend. There is no lift so be prepared to carry your luggage (unaided) to your room.

Review 18:It's close to the main square but everywhere is..

Review 19:Breakfast- not enough food and not ready at the stated time. Building seems to be unfinished- wires hanging out of wall, painting unfinished etc

Review 20:Pleasant and helpful staff

Review 21:staff speak little english. Breakfast was a bit disappointing compared to other hotels we stayed in bolivia. shower water pressure was quite low. our room window panes in the corner was broken and they put cardboards to block it. cold air from outside was coming in through those gaps...no heating in room.

Review 22:location is ok, nice easy walk to restaurants, supermarkets/corner shops etc. hot shower available. hotel staff helped carry luggage to room

Review 23:The breakfast was very average - for the price that you pay per night. We stayed an extra couple of nights and didn't get any service, e.g. we had to ask for more toilet paper and to have our bin emptied. The wifi was poor, compared to other places in Uyuni. The shower was nice and hot, but it had no pressure (I had to fill a water bottle up to wash hair properly).

Review 24:This hotel is fine if you are just staying for a night in Uyuni. Unfortunately I got a gastro bug, and we had to postpone our tour and stay an additional 2 nights here - I would not recommend staying in Uyuni for a second longer than you have to! The rooms are a good size and the bed was comfy. It was handy being able to pay by credit card.

Review 25:Shower hose poor - meaning water sprays all over bathroom and not on you. Room not very clean...there was a used soap complete with hair in shower. Floors could do with sweeping/mopping as hair and dust everywhere. Only one towel to share between two people. One particular very rude member of staff...who on several occasions during our stay was completely unhelpful - we asked for another toilet roll, she moaned about this, told us 5 minutes but brought it 5 hours later when we were asleep, then we could hear her laughing with a colleague about it outside the room! At breakfast the same girl made a rude remark in spanish about us arriving 'late' to breakfast thinking we didnt understand...we came to breakfast at 8:45am (times are between 8 - 9.30)...but they had cleared everything away, and begrudgingly gave us stale cold toast, luke warm coffee and butter that was frozen ( a joke of a breakfast! ...particularly when we have had amazing breakfasts in bolivia at hostels charging half the price of this place). Overall i would recommend you look elsewhere...We stayed at so many other better value places in Bolivia, where facilities reflect the room tariff and staff were welcoming/helpful.

Review 26:Large bright modern room, good location, good bed with new linen, hot water.

Review 27:they offer us a room that was not finished (lots of cables hanging from the walls, window "glued" with paper, no shower box, bathroom doors 30cm higher then the floor); the bed sheets where not very clean; we need to pay on check in.

Review 28:the beds where good and the wi-fi too.

Review 29:- Expensive (but I guess that is Uyuni for you). - Bathroom not well maintained - the shower did not work and needed a quick fix with duct tape (!!!!), the towel rack was broken. - Street noise was pretty loud

Review 30:- Location was central. - Room was spacious. - Mini market next door. - Staff was friendly and generally helpful.

Review 31:Everything is overpriced in Uyuni so relative to other hostels the costwas ok. We had no hot water. Wifi was the worst we'd experienced in5 weeks in South America. Worse than other places in Bolivia. Breakfastwas a disorganised joke. The room was full of light at night due tostrong street lamps and very thin white curtains in the room. Butdespite all these problems this might be the best you can do for your 1or 2 nights in Uyuni

Review 32:Location is close to everything but so are most other hostels. Bed wascomfortable.

Review 33:The hotel is just an old condo converted into an hotel that would need some renovation. It is ok for Uyuni standards, but they cannot charge that much for such poor quality. No heating. They provide an electric heater but not really sufficient.

Review 34:the room was spacious

Review 35:No hot water. Just warm with no pressure. Impossible to take a shower. Too much stairs. The hotel is on the second floor. Too expensive for what is offered. We had to stay after the checkout we have been charged half the rate. The hotels in uyuni are a must for the passengers going to the salar and they are taking advantage of that without offering the minimum.

Review 36:Location

Review 37:The staff is not helpful, useless I would say. We were supposed to havebreakfast, which they were ready to provide only from 7, and when weasked to move it a bit earlier because we had a flight at 7-30, theyrefused to do so, even to make us the sandwiches to take away. Takinginto account that those are the only flights in this town, I guess, weare not the first tourists in this situation, which means they do notadjust their service to the local needs and charge the tourists for theservice they know they won't provide. It was especially frastratingbecause it was out last stop and we didn't leave the budget for thebreakfast and we couldn't find where to exchange money at the end ofthe day. Some tourists say, that you can pay with dollars anywhere, thatis not the case, especially when it comes to food. Apart from that, thewindow had a wide gap between the glass which was closed with the tapeand a piece of cardboard. There were some holes in the walls with theelectrical wires hanging from them. Our window was facing and somestreet dances were playing the music the whole evening. But the worstpart was that the song was the same all the time. And when we asked thestaff if they could talk to those people and ask them to reduce thevolume, they said they couldn't help it. That's a shame thatbooking.com provides only 3 option in Uyuni, there is plenty of optionsin the town, cheaper and more customer oriented.

Review 38:The hotel itself is very clean and quite nicely decorated inside withcomfortable sofas in the common area of the hall. The shower is decent, which I think is quite important after Salar de Uyuni trip.

Review 39:To charge what they do in the context of Bolivia is extortionate. It's all VERY basic (comparable to a low end youth hostal) and yet the price, relative to Bolivian prices/standards is like paying for a 4* hotel. I can only think they get away with it because there's so little competition.

Review 40:Sound provision of basics (just - the hot water was unreliable to put it generously): clean and hospitable for Bolivian standards.

Review 41:the hotel is really expensive!!! We had no hot shower in the morning. Breakfast ist ok, but not enough for all the people

Review 42:very new, nice and clean hotel

Review 43:Average breakfast, staff wanted to charge us more than the price listed on booking.com. Lucky we had the receipt.

Review 44:The private rooms came with a heater, showers were okay and it was close to the main agency tours.

Review 45:After we had checked out we needed to use the wifi so we could transfer some money to use the ATM and they wouldn't let us in the lobby to do so!

Review 46:We left our kindle on the overnight bus and the staff went out of their way to help us get it back. Beyond calling they also helped us find the driver and search the bus!

Review 47:Nobody at reception on arrival at midday had to walk upstairs and try find somebody which took half hour. Overpriced for what you get

Review 48:Good wifi , nice rooms

Review 49:My friend got 220v when he try to got some hot water in the shower caus all the wires were taped

Review 50:Fine breakfast Good wifi Heater and lots of blankets Nice breakfast

Review 51:Breakfast spread was quite minimal, but still not bad.

Review 52:Extremely comfortable rooms and beds, nice hot shower, great heater in the room. Great location close to everything.

Review 53:Very poor value for money Doesn´t feel like a proper hotel No heater Breakfast advertised at wrong time Staff very cold

Review 54:Wifi was fine Shower good Lots of blankets

Review 55:Shower pressure wasn't strong and no hair dryer to use. =(

Review 56:Clean and comfortable hotel to stay in, especially after a Salar de Uyuni tour - they have hot showers, heating, internet, and comfy beds with spacious rooms. The room was clean with a nice view of the streets of Uyuni and the surrounding hills. It felt heavenly to be in after a few days spent with no indoor heating and cold nights! The hotel is conveniently located on top of the a supermarket at the corner of Calle Potosi and Sucre. Lots of eating options nearby and it is located just one block away from Plaza Arce.

Review 57:The staff are not very organised and eftpos would not work to pay for our stay we had to run to an ATM. Uyuni is a very cold place and the rooms were not heated at all. Our first room had a very small electric heater and our second room had none. The first room had no water in the shower but our second room had luke warm water.

Review 58:Good location as it was very near to our salt flats tour agency, however Uyuni is not very big so this wasn't hard. WiFi was good for south American standards.

Review 59:Rooms tiny and not clean (dirty quilt covers, hair in sinks and on bed). Very cold and had to ask for heater (which was provided). No hot water. Curtain rail hanging from the wall. No coat hangers in wardrobes. 24/7 reception is not quite true - ring bell at reception and you may find someone. All unacceptable when paying the rates they charge.

Review 60:The staff tried hard to resolve problems when they were pointed out to them.

Review 61:Basic and clean hotel in a city without many luxury options. But it was clean, comfortable and most importantly WARM. The staff was excellent - we happened to be in town during a strike that blocked off access to the airport and the hotel helped us contract a driver to take us past the picket lines to leave, even waking up at 5am to walk us to the van. This is a basic but good option and I can't recommend the staff enough!

Review 62:NO WI-FI POOR SHOWER POWER

Review 63:SPOTLESS CLEAN GOOD BREAKFAST

Review 64:No hooks or anything to hang clothes in the room.

Review 65:It is close to town area.

Review 66:no hot showers

Review 67:very clean

Review 68:basic hotel but Uyuni is quite remote so not to expect much more than that.

Review 69:handy

Review 70:Lovely staff! Very clean bathrooms and large bedroom. Great location close to tour agencies and food.

Review 71:WiFi is not so strong Staff cannot speak English

Review 72:location

Review 79:good price for esthetics poor but for 45 us you get clean room & hot shower-no heating in the room, OK breakfast , excellent for a stop over

Review 80:My room didn't had a warm shower. Payed for it though..

Review 81:Some rooms do not have hot shower but is available in public shower.

Review 82:Good Wi-Fi connection. Staffs do not understand English but trys to help us.

Review 83:Cool (at best) shower. Average breakfast.

Review 84:Wifi in the rooms. Great location. Nice staff. Good size room.

Review 85:Incompetent staff Thrifty breakfast

Review 86:WIFI was super fast Bright and nice rooms Common area available

Review 87:No hot water!

Review 88:to many stair

Review 89:super bed & Location

Review 90:no elevator, construction works in the building

Review 91:in general everything was ok

Review 92:Good location, great breakfast and the most comfortable bed I have slept in..

Review 93:Lack of hot water in the room.

Review 94:Friendly staff. Quiet place to rest.

Review 95:The shower is no water,we are not able to shower with few drops of water.

Review 96:Location is good.

Review 97:Shower only comes with boiling hot water. Breakfast not willing to provide. Arrogant staff makes you feel please have a bun and leave.

Review 98:No choice.

Review 99:small bathroom, which is completely flooded after a shower cold at night

Review 100:good location good internet connection

Review 101:The shower is terrible, no pressure at all.

Review 102:great bed and it is great to rest after the trio in uyuni desert

Review 103:Uninviting reception area, poor shower facilities in room, doubtful cleanliness and very low value for money.

Review 104:poor breakfast, the atention was a little slow

Review 105:Good night rest

Review 106:Beautiful decoration, comfortable , good location and great breakfast for bolivian standart

Review 107:The wifi was excellent, as was the bed. After staying for 3 nights on a bus this was a real luxury. The breakfast is also top notch

Review 108:Lack of curtains

Review 109:Fantastic comfortable beds with new linen, great breakfast

Review 110:water was lukewarm, not hot. no heating, can get a bit chilly at night

Review 111:Hot shower

Review 112:Breakfast was awful Cold shower

Review 113:Shower water wasn't hot

Review 114:Good location, heater in the room and wi-fi. New building.

Review 115:Hot water not really hot, staff unhelpful, too expensive, very basic breakfast.

Review 116:Heater in the room, WiFi, modern looking.

Review 117:Wish there was a shower curtain

Review 118:The electric hot water heater in the shower worked just so-so: it was easy to lose all hot water. Also, there was only one power outlet in the room, so only one piece of electronics could be charged at a time. I knew I was paying for privacy, hot water, and a heater, but USD55 seems too much.

Review 119:Double bed, lots of blankets, new electric heater

Review 120:No hot water although promised. Ran out of eggs for breakfast and didn't go out to get some more although many more guests that morning. VERY EXPENSIVE for the quality it offers - it was our only choice but would not choose this hotel again.

Review 121:WIFI was strong, beds were very comfortable. Location central

Review 122:The room was freezing cold. They provided a heater that could only be turned on for 15min because otherwise the socket started to melt and smell... it helped nothing. breakfast was served in an even colder room and was not what you expect for the price of this hotel.

Review 123:the staff was helpful to book a tour to uyuni salt flats.

Review 124:scaring electricity in the shower.., its a bit noisy arond the area and very light in the morning. i came to rest a night but couldnt sleep so long in the morning. the hotel is very good but the price is definintly too high for bolivian hotels.

Review 125:good location, nice bed, wifi worked well, polite staff

Review 126:The staffs were friendly, and that’s the only reason why I gave some points to this hotel. I would hardly recommend not staying in this hotel. Rather book a week in advance and look for a cheap hostel or for a better hotel.

Review 127:The hostel was clean at all. However, the room was very cold. For a price of USD 40 you can have even in Europe more comfortable hotels. Okay, it is a touristic place, but still it is Bolivia. Also, there was not enough warm water in the shower. The breakfast was very simple, and again for USD 40 very disappointing.

Review 128:The bathroom was too small, everything was wet after taking a shower and there was enough hot water for 1 person only (we were 3 people)

Review 129:The staff was very helpful and replaced the heater straight away when we told them that the plug had burnt. Room was big enough. Didn't try the breakfast as we had to catch our plane at 5.45 am

Review 130:The village is horrible. If you are a youngster looking for Adventure Tours then this is the place for you. Bring money, lots of it!

Review 131:The good news is that the hotel is now 75% completed. With the donations of customers it will hopefully be completed this year or next.

Review 132:My room was unfinished. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation. No socks for a night lamp. The shower had hot water just for three minutes.Very dangerous stairs to the second floor, do not accept a room on this floor. The breakfast could be improved for 45 $/night.

Review 133:Wi fi was OK.The staff was polite.I had an early check-in.

Review 134:The room have no heater considering the extreme cold weather in Uyuni.Shower doesn't have a divider so the whole shower room floor get wet when shower. Basin not equipped with hot water option.

Review 135:Location is good, near to supermarket and main street. The bed is warm and comfortable.

The Fine Print

Please note that the hotel is located on the second floor without lift.
