Reviews for Baross City Hotel - Budapest
Review 1:The cleanness could be improved a bit. All the TV channels are in Hungarian.
Review 2:Close proximity to the train station. Relatively close to the city center. Friendly staff. Quiet although it is next to busy road.
Review 3:Good location. Nice breakfast. We had a few objections that we will not even mention because the staff was extremly nice and kind, especially Wanda the recepcionist.
Review 4:The room Had a bad fungi/humid smell ....we got another room...it was the same... also the walls are paper thin with no sound insulation. Breakfast was poor quality and not much choice.
Review 5:Location
Review 6:The facilties are a bit old but totally acceptable given the price is so low.
Review 7:The location is perfect. The train station is just across the street. Staff is helpful and polite. The breakfast is surprisingly good too.
Review 8:Absolutely loved my stay here. Keleti railway station is right in front of a hotel so if you're travelling on to your next destination, it is a great place to stay. Breakfast was good.
Review 9:Room was a bit untidy. I woke up several times each night because of the noise coming from the courtyard/the hallway/the elevator. Breakfast was a huge disappointment.
Review 10:Good location. Public transportation easily accessible. Friendly staff with fluent English.
Review 11:Breakfast buffet was half empty every morning even though they had two or three staffmembers working there. It said the room had a minibar but it didn't! After the cleaner was there I found long black hair everywhere! Gross!!
Review 12:Great location Nice building
Review 13:Nothing I can think of.
Review 14:Clean room and bathroom, with good lighting. Adequate wall sockets for charging electronic items. Money changing at good rates. Facilities to make tea in the room.
Review 15:Reception on 5th floor. Elevator only goes there, except later in afternoon. Then you must carry luggage up or down. Room very small. Spooky!
Review 16:Across street from Keleti train station. Staff very helpful!
Review 17:Location is by the station, but is in the least salubrious part of town. A long walk to the centre of town, and not through especially pleasant areas. Security guard at front of building (not just entrance to the hotel but other flats as well) was asleep some of the time, and ineffectual (just let us in) at other times. We didn't stay there (it felt too unsafe with children, dark around rooms at night, smoking area outside family room) but found a new hotel in the centre of town and moved within hours. Hotel itself is on the 4/5th floors of an apartment building. Got ripped off by a station cabbie at the same time - be careful of this!
Review 18:Moved out almost straight away so can't really say.
Review 19:No lift! It's a long way up the stairs...... Key stuck inside the lock and couldn't get it out!
Review 20:Great price. Close to city centre and Nyugati station. Hotel bar sells the superb dark Dreher Bak beer on tap. Good English spoken. Excellent shower. Aircon ok.
Review 21:There was no email reply on the request I had made about having to check in early.
Review 22:The receptionist was very knowledgeable, spoke good English and was easy to deal with. The location of the property in relation to the train station.
Review 23:wifi not in rooms far from reception. Noisy walls, might be a disturbance for people who want to wake up bit late.
Review 24:Very near to keleti station. Very clean. friendly staff.
Review 25:We stayed when the summer temperatures reached 32 degrees by 9:30am. The room was was uncomfortably warm throughout the night where the blanket served as a mattress protector. Unfortunately the air conditioner seemed to be more of decoration as it struggled to blow out cool air. We opened the door from time to time as the hallway was much cooler. The breakfast was OK, not much variety for a supposed 3 star hotel.
Review 26:The reception staff was very chilled and I got the impression that he wanted to get rid of you quickly. Maybe it was a cultural difference - which isn't necessarily bad, it's not your typical (European) customer service. The breakfast staff were very friendly and hospitable. The room and bathroom was spacious, clean and not too dated. The bed was very comfortable. Keleti metro station is just a few steps from the building entrance. I would say that if it wasn't hot and uncomfortable during our stay the location IS walkable to the main sites. The area is safe and there's building security too. Also, there's fast food chains, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Budapest is a lovely city with yummy food lively culture, but I probably wouldn't stay here in the summer months.
Review 27:staff were new or not trained properly. Didn't know how to get line to call outside mobile. Light in the bathroom kept blowing the fuses with a bang. Not very safe.
Review 28:location across the Keleti train station
Review 29:negligible internet access on the top floor (We were relying on the internet for forward travel arrangements ) No restaurant or bar for a sociable drink with other tourists before bed
Review 30:Reception staff were very helpful giving advice on good local restaurants
Review 31:Nothing
Review 32:Best location near main train station, english speaking and friendly counter staff who can also offers transport advice, good breakfast, free luggage storage before and after checkout.
Review 33:Our room was at the front on the main road which had noisy sirens passing regularly. It was also directly next to the breakfast room where the kitchen staff arrived at 5.30 am and everything was audible. It was also right in front of reception where again you could hear everything. Ask for a room on a different side or different floor.
Review 34:The hotel is directly opposit the Budapest-Keleti train station. Also on the Big Bus hop on hop off bus route. The big plus for this hotel was its price - extremely reasonable.
Review 35:Room size was a bit smaller than expected, Wifi and breakfast could improve.
Review 36:Location is very good (within city center) and good public transport links even at night, room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 37:The rooms face a courtyard which echoes every small bit of noise over many levels. For both nights of my stay, it literally sounded as if groups of people were yelling from within my room. I ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor with the door closed in an attempt to get some sleep. I also had a room which was below the reception which meant any person using the stairs would echo a loud thump. I'm not a light sleeper and these things usually don't bother me, but I would never pay to 'sleep' at this hotel again, regardless of price.
Review 38:The staff were very helpful and more than happy to assist in booking tours etc, and it was moments from the Keleti Train Station.
Review 39:The reception staff did not finish with me and the next one guest came in and he start the paperwork with thems. The bed is comfort and large, but if you move on then give strong song.
Review 40:Great breakfast
Review 41:Public transport at your doorstep, Keleti station across the road for international travel, within reach of sites on foot or public transport, staff were wonderful especially Szabina (sp) always so cheerful - she is a bonus for the hotel.
Review 42:There were some stains on the carpet but nothing that will ruin your experience in this amazing city
Review 43:Excelent location, just a few steps from the subway. Good quality breakfast and helpfull staff
Review 44:the room we stayed in was above the kitchen, we could smell the food in the room in the morning
Review 45:the receptionist called a taxi for us which is much appreciated
Review 46:I personally didn't find the bed very comfortable but i'm very picky with my matress. My boyfriend had no problems sleeping.
Review 47:The hotel has a great location, outside the hotel you have all the options for public transport, bus/train/tram and metro. Even though you have all the public transport outside, you have no noise disturbance inside the room. The room was very clean. And the heater was already on before we checked in! That was really great as it was so cold outside. We really loved the staff, they were all very welcoming, thoughtfull and helpful. There was a 24 hour reception and a security guard at the main entrance. I would stay here again! Great value for money.
Review 48:Quite a long way from centre. Room was a bit 'tired'. No tea making facilities. No bar of soap (although there was a liquid soap dispenser). Not enough tables for the number of guests at breakfast.
Review 49:Good value, close to station, reasonable breakfast included. Very pleasant receptionists.
Review 50:We particularly liked the staff & the location. As train travelers, the location is ideal for arriving and departing Budapest by train. With the well-developed Budapest public transportation system we could get almost anywhere we wanted to go in Budapest by simply walking out the door and/or crossing the street. We stayed here a couple of times back in 2006, and we found the staff (though different) just as friendly and helpful this time. It is a delight to watch the staff switch languages with relative ease, as they serve customers from many different countries. The breakfast offerings were fairly varied, ample, and tasty. The rooms are fairly simple and basic. They met our needs. The cost was reasonable. We've now stayed at Baross 4 times, and would not hesitate to do so again.
Review 51:Poor breakfast meal offer of mediocre quality Mould was starting to develop in the bath-corner which filled the bathroom with an unpleasant stench.
Review 52:Very friendly staff Convenient location just across Keleti Railway Station
Review 53:The room was small but adequate.
Review 54:The outstanding feature of the Baross City Hotel is its location: proximity to Keleti Station (about 3 minutes walk) and and to major tram routes, which run past the door. It is on the 5th floor of an attractive courtyard building and although the rooms were small, we were enchanted by the view of the illuminated city of Budapest from our window. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Di Canberra
Review 55:Issues with hot water, no soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Noisy at night on the main street that comes from the bar at the entrance of the hotel if you leave the window open. Average breakfest. Needs to improve no depending of the category
Review 56:Center of town, good transportation connection, nice and helpfull staff who made us more than welcome.
Review 57:We were roomed near the stairs and we could hear people passing by every morning, they need to improve the WiFi inside the room. Breakfast buffet was ok. (not so special--maybe sausages into the menu?)
Review 58:the location was superb.. very close to the metro station. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Rooms are cleaned every morning, but would appreciate if they change the towels more often (and thank you for lending us the towels for the thermal bath).
Review 59:The hotel is on the 4th, 5th & 6th floors of a building. The reception is on the 5th floor.Locked after a certain hour but there is a guard at the main entrance to the building 24 hours. Limited breakfast
Review 60:Clean & quiet rooms; friendly staff; excellent location re the station and other places of interest
Review 61:Bed to hard, but couldt ask for more underlay. People are smooking just in front off our open windows
Review 62:Kind, helpsome and polite staff. Very near to metro, train and bus. Calm rooms in the inneryard. Clean rooms.
Review 63:Had to pay for breakfast, breakfast not included in price of hotel
Review 64:We especially liked the location, just across from the central station so easy to travel around. Old town also easily accessible.
Review 65:Meet a small cucaracha in the bathroom, the region in the night is kind of weird, towels are too old...
Review 66:Near the train station, near the metro, good staff, fair breakfast, excelent wifi.
Review 67:Very convenient when travelling to/from Keleti train station which is right across the street. Hotel is basic and somewhat outdated but clean. Friendly and efficient staff.
Review 68:The area around the hotel was seedy and did not seem that safe, Also our room A/C did not work well and the room was too warm.
Review 69:It was very close to the main Keleti train station. The complimentary breakfast was good. The receptionist was helpful and could speak English.
Review 70:Though convenient for the railway station, the whole area is not very attractive and a bit dodgy. I did not feel very safe in the room either, as the window faced the balcony where some young people smoked, flirted and generally hang out for the greater part of the night. The only type of toiletries provided was liquid soap in a dispencer which did not look very clean. The towels were greyish. The breakfast was barely adequate and not tasty at all, especiially the water-diluted juices.
Review 71:Convenient for those who need to be near the railway station. Friendly and helpful young people at the reception desk who speak good English. Reasonably priced. My room had a air-conditioner a a safe, both worked. Away from the street noises as most rooms face the inner courtyard.
Review 72:The pillows and beddings were filthy dirty, towels were white-turned-brown, smelly and one badly torned, bed was making loud noise at every move, the lift is so tiny that can only fit the two person but without luggage, there's no lift to the sixth floor and you have to drag your suitcases to your room. .and much more
Review 73:There was absolutely nothing that we liked of the hotel only that it's location convenient to the railway station.
Review 74:It's never a good thing if you can hear your neighbors unpacking from plastic bags in the next room...
Review 75:WiFi is perfect Location is also perfect Reception was very helpful
Review 76:Dirty seats in the dining room. Different maps recognised on the seats :-)
Review 77:Friendly, warm and willing staff.
Review 78:The sheets were not completely clean they had some hairs!.
Review 79:Breakfast served too late. We often stay here but almost never get to eat breakfast.
Review 80:It's proximity to the train station
Review 81:Cannot complaint. The breakfast was basic.
Review 82:It's the ideal low-cost hotel.

Review 101:AC was not very effective. Quality of food for the breakfast was not up to the mark.
Review 102:Location is perfect.
Review 103:The staff were courteous and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 104:Entrance bit difficult to find because the reception is not on the ground floor.

Review 110:Location is very good, the staff helpful and kind.
Review 111:Poor breakfast facilities
Review 112:Location and quietness
Review 113:Sixth floor room, where we had to carry our bags up 30 or so steps. Monotonous and boring breakfast.
