The Alex in the heart of Zermatt is a mountain hut on the outside and a stylish boutique hotel on the inside. It features a superb spa, sports and fitness area and offers free Wi-Fi.
Behind the classic chalet building there is an attractive interior of traditional furniture, brocade curtains, velvet pillows, exquisite carving and precious paintings of the Matterhorn.
Spa facilities include an indoor pool, 3 massage rooms, separate women’s and men’s saunas, a Finnish sauna, a tepidarium, a sanarium, a massage chair and a tropical shower. A selection of massage and beauty treatments is also available.
The fitness room features state-of-the-art equipment, including rowing machines. There are also tennis and racquetball courts and a grotto swimming pool. Classes in yoga and pilates are also offered.

Review 1：I went with my 2 sons to create a special memory of our time together. One of the little landmark moments for them to remember about growing up. We loved it. My youngest (8 yrs) said when he has children he wants to take them there too. Our hotel room had a view of the Matterhorn so they were excited about our trip the next day too.

Review 6：I only wish we had discovered this hotel years ago, its my new favorite hotel in my favorite place in the world; summer or winter we love to visit Zermatt. In this hotel we felt special from the moment we arrived until the moment the train left to come home.This hotel oozes charm; it’s all you expect from a Swiss hotel. Quirky quaintness, character, finest understated service, and some of the best food you can eat in the town.The restaurant is a special gem, open to both hotel guests and visitors. We like fine food and regularly eat in some special places; this place is up there with the best in Zermatt and even London. The menu is clever with some unusual dishes offered. Try the scrambled egg, truffle and duck liver starter; it was unusual, unexpected and very good. I like fish and enjoyed watching fresh sea bass cooked on the grill in the restaurant, and the finest turbot on black pasta another night, both exceptionally well created. Others enjoyed lamb cooked in a pot with hay; it was again exceptional. Another unexpected treat was the chickpea chips; we asked for them the second visit because we were so surprised by them the first night.If you like good wine you wont be disappointed.The finest food delivered with the finest service; subtle silver service in a relaxed exquisite restaurant. The service team delivered the best service with a smile.We especially liked the great bar and great service. It’s an eclectic, comfortable and relaxed place to enjoy a drink.I think the room was a little dated and could be a little lighter. But it’s a small point when it was so comfortable, so very clean and the night turn down service delivery was un-noticed and so good.A treat is the special swimming pool and spa area. I enjoyed a very good massage too, which was ideal after skiing.I was especially impressed to find the porter waiting as we left the room at 6am ready to help us down, out and deliver us onto the train. It made me smile and very happy.
